Just this new iMac doesn't have internet connection?
My network is working fine on two other macs running Mavericks. I purchased and set up a new iMac this week and it had been running fine. But this morning my hope network reads as though there in no internet connection...the wifi is fine and strong. Also, airport utility can't see my express or extreme.
Oddly though, the iMac and connect to my neighbours open network just fine.
I've tried starting and restarting, even checking to see f the problem was duplicated on the guest account...
Any ideas?
Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode.

Two steps:
you can first transfer photos from iPhone to computer and then drag them to the external hard drive. For your iTunes library, you can follow:

3. Locate your iTunes folder:By default, the iTunes folder is located in:
Mac: Finder > username > Music
4. Drag the iTunes folder to your external drive. This can take a while if you have a lot of items.
6. When the transfer is complete, your iTunes Library will have been successfully copied to your external drive. -
I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input. I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy. I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?

What do you mean it doesn't have sound? If it's a new machine call AppleCare, you have 90 days of support via telephone and can find the number in your owner's manual.

New iMac doesn't have a disc drive - I need to download a copy of my software.
I have a purchased license of the Adobe CS5 Design Premium. My laptop was stolen, and I recently purchased a new iMac which does not have a disc drive.
I have my serial number for the software. Is it possible to download a copy of the software and install it?

I just bought a new IMac. I have photoshop elements installed on my old IMac and would like to move it to the new one. How can i do this?
Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

I have purchased a newer mid 2011 iMac for my wife to replace her dead 17"iMac from 2006. It was running Snow Leopard. The new iMac has Yosemite and when I go into Migration Assistant it tells me that the OS X is too old, implying that I cannot get the data from it. How can I migrate this data to the new iMac? I have the hard drive removed and in an external enclosure connected to the new iMac.

Also, as a general note: when you got the 2011 iMac did it have the original OS installed as required by the SLA? The seller is to remove any OS version obtained at the app store since the license is not transferable - did he do that? If not, as the OS download is tied to the Apple ID used to obtain it, you will not be able to update apps or reinstall the OS, so may I suggest you do this step now before you start porting over all the files. Use Internet Recovery: Hold Command + Option + R while restarting/rebooting until you see a spinning globe and a progress bar. After 2 - 10 minutes, you'll be connected to Apple's servers and see a Utilities window. Go to Disk Utility and choose erase your drive; once finished, go back to the window and choose to reinstall OS X. This should install a fresh original OS version which you can then update and tie to your wife's Apple ID. -
I have just purchased the latest macbook pro 13 retina (late 2013). I want to connect to a Dell U2713H Monitor. As the new macbook doesn't have a cd slot, I am unable to install the monitor drivers etc. Where can I download the drivers?
Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm not sure how to connect to the monitor as the only ports available on this model mac are Thunderbolt. The mini display to display cable supplied doesn't seem to work out of the TB port. Do I need to use a Thunderbolt cable + an adaptor?

Problems setting up my TC. Have just bought new iMac(OS 10.6.8) and TC. I tried to set it up. iMac cannot find it. I have tried direct connection with an ethernet cable to Mac or direct to my wireless router but nothing. Just a flashing orange light. Help for a simpleton please. Have tried reseting TC, but to no avail.
Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?

It is best to stop making all new apple IDs, as software is permanently tied to them, and you can't converge them. Make differnt ones if you plan to get divorced though....

I just updated my iTunes on 12-7-2012 and I do not like the newer version.....can I go back to the earlier version?? This new version does not have the iTunes DJ nor does is show at the bottom as in the earlier version how many songs and the size of my library.
To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes. -
I have a license for CS6 on my MacBook Pro. I want to purchase an iMAC and be able to do my heavy duty Photoshop processing on this new iMAC when I am at home I need to keep CS6 on my MacBook Pro and use it when I travel. How can I have copies of CS6 on both machines. I am the only user of this software.
You can install and activate CS6 on both machines perfectly legally.

I am relatively new to the Mac world, and so please excuse me if this sounds like a dumb question. I have a iMac running 10.6.8 and hard wired, not wireless.
I recently purchased a MAB with the intention of NOT hooking it to the internet but just stand alone, for writing purposes. I needed an app for it, so I purchased it through the app store on the iMac with the intent of transferring to the MAB via flash drive. Now in retrospect, its probably not the way its supposed to happen, due to licence rules, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the app on my MAB or will I have to get it online to do a transfer from the iMac?

Of course, this requires an Internet connection for all purchases and installs. If you connect the MBA to the App store online, you should be able to download an install an additional copy, provided the MBA and the iMac share ownership information (registration, Apple ID).
Apple's long term plan will just about require all systems to have Internet access to function in app installation and updating, if you buy the Apps from Apple..
Alternatively, some Apps can be copied in whole, by simply copying the particular App folder in the Applications folder of your iMac system, then pasting that App folder in the corresponding Applications folder on your MBA. The rest can't. The reason; they install library and other files elsewhere on the computer. It all depends on the Developer's structure of the App.
You can try the App file copying, and if it does not work, you will simply have to establish an Internet connection for your Air, and use the App store. -
Aloha all, I just purchased a new iMac with the following - 27" 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5,with 8 GB ram, running OS 10.6.7. After using an G5 PPC for 7 years, I thought it a good time to upgrade.
My inquiry is page-ins, page-outs, & swap. I keep getting a large amounts of page-outs, & swap being used, especially when using Photoshop, & Photoshop Elements, but not limited to those programs. After what I think would just be normal usage, the same thing happens. Using my old G5 PPC for the same tasks I can't remember so many. I end up using Activity Monitor to check this now, pretty much daily, and they are always showing up. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts about why this is happening I'd really like to hear them. More importantly I'd like to know if there is a way to reduce them, or if should just ignore them.
Also this new machine doesn't seem much faster than my 7 year old PPC. Should I be concerned? In the years I have been posting here I have always gotten good advice, so I'm looking forward to seeing the answers to my queries. Thanks for any time, tips, suggestions. The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs. -
I have an iphone 4 which is currently synced with a non apple laptop and I wish to sync it with my new imac. I have just backed the phone up on my laptop but am not sure what I need to do now.
