Do you have read& write permissions to your iTunes library?

    Hey Chris-
It has been some time since you posted this message and I see you haven't gotten any replies, but  I have the same issue and I was wondering if you figured out how to resolve it.  Hopefully you were able to figure it out.

  • I have just put an audio book into my iTunes music library.  When I tried to transfer it to my iPod shuffle it rearranged the tracks so that they are in the wrong order.  How can I put them in the order they appear in the book?

I have just put an audio book into my iTunes music library.  When I tried to transfer it to my iPod Shuffle it put the chapters in the wrong order i.e. Chap 1, Chap 10, Chap 11 etc. rather than Chap 1, Chap 2, Chap 3 ...  How can I get it to put them in the order they appear in the book?

First, we need to know if the audiobook chapters are being treated by iTunes as music files or as audiobooks. If they are not audiobooks purchased from the iTunes store, they might be getting "shuffled". You will need to look at "File" - "Properties" (I think - I don't use iTunes under Windows - or right-click on the file and choose "properties") and look at the media type. If it is "Music", change it to "Audiobook". If this is not the problem, or does not fix anything, please post back.
Actually, looking at your post again, a second thought occurs to me - assuming there are less than 100 chapters in the book, just renaming them with a leading zero on the first nine chapters might do it. A computer will alphabetically sort filenames in the order you quote (1, 10, 11, 12, 13, ... 2, 21, etc.) but a leading zero will fix that (01, 02, 03 ... 10, 11, 12)

  • While trying to import an audio CD, I get an error message, "you don't have the privilege to make changes"

I'm trying to import an audio CD into iTunes, but I keep getting a message saying, "Error occurred while converting the file . . . You do not have the privilege to make changes." I've tried selecting all the different encoders, WAV, MP3 and AAC, and still nothing works.  I would appreciate the help.

  • When trying to download or sync podcasts, I get an error code "you do not have the privilege to make changes". Please help!

When trying to download or sync podcasts, I get an error code "you do not have the privilege to make changes". Please help! I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, but that did not work. Also, I rebooted and that didn't work, either.

I tried to use an external hard drive from my windows computer that was formatted in NTFS Windows format.  Mac Pro sees that hard drive as "read only".  Itunes works on existing media on the hard drive to play music or movies, but when you try to purchase from itunes store and download you get the above message.  You need to move your library to a library that is formatted in exFAT format (which can be used both by "windows" and mac computers.

  • I am getting an error when trying to download  the new Game of Thrones shows. The error is err = -61 You do not have the privilege to make changes. (err = -61) you do not have the privilege  to make changes. I have not had this problem before

I am getting an error when trying to download  the new Game of Thrones shows. The error is err = -61 You do not have the privilege to make changes. (err = -61) you do not have the privilege  to make changes. I have not had this problem before

    Solution:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select your external hard disk and run a “verify” on it. After a few minutes (depending on the size of your drive), you should be good to go. You don’t need to run a “repair” on it... (at least I didn’t have to). See photo for reference.
This should fix the permissions issue, because on my Mac running Mountain Lion I was unable to edit the permissions in the get info dialog window even after "unlocking" the drive.

  • How to fix a -61 error on iTunes? (I do not have the privilege to make changes)

I got a new iMac. When I try to download songs on iTunes, it comes up that I do not have the privilege to make changes (-61 error). How do I fix this?

Um, it is difficult to be more specific than the link I posted, completely with nice picture of what things should look like .  You get info on the iTunes folder and click the little triangles next to your name until the read and write combination appear, then apply to enclosed items, then close the window.

  • ITunes 8: You do not have the privilege to make changes

After upgrading to iTunes 8 I get this error when syncing my iPhone.
The iPhone "..." cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes.
I restored my iPhone hoping this would fix the issue but the error still happens.
    Please help!

I am getting this after upgrading to 8.02 but with my iPod, not my iPhone.
I deauthorized the computer and then authorized it. No effect.
I am also suspicious that my iPhone updates are not being applied correctly, though no error is appearing.
This reminds me of authorization problems with the iphone that I have documented previously.
I will blog on this problem here:

I know Apple has had authentication problems with legacy .mac customers. We're people who's purchases are tied to our .mac address, but we left .mac long before the .me switch.
I think Apple may have unique authentication problems with this group.

  • "Error has occurred... You do not have the privilege to make changes."

When I try to import anything into my library, I get this error message-
"Error occurred while converting the file "song name here". You do not have the privilege to make changes."
My i Tunes library is located in an external hard drive, but this has caused no problems before, nothing has changed in my system.
    Any ideas?

Found someone else replying to a similar problem and this is what they said...Not sure if this will help but I am trying!
    (Thanks to JollyGiant)
Check if you have read & write permissions on your iTunes folder.
in finder, right-click on it and get info. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and apply to enclosed items like so
    http://www.renewedvision.com/ProPresenterHelp/pgs/images/faqpppermissions.jpg
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).
