Just Tried To Sign Up To BTFon With My Home Hub?

I just tried to sign up for BTFon via my home hub but it asked me to put in my bt internet email address and password and I really don't remember getting any paperwork or emails with my bt address or setting one up myself? How do I find out what my username is or if i'm even signed up for bt email?

  • Ive bought an Airport Time Capsule. trying to get it to work with BT home hub 3

Ive followed the advice on this forum but I still cant get the Capsule to connect to the internet.
Ive set the Capsule as a bridge.
Connected the ethernet cable from the Capsule to the Ethernet port on the back of the BT homehub 3.
the light on the front of the capsule still flashes yellow.
so I have a back up made, but in order to get it to work, i need to switch between the wireless network on the homehub (where I have internet connectivity) and the Capsule wireless network (where there is no internet connectivity)
    what am I doing wrong?
    thank you.

That is odd. Normally with bridge you will have no issues with internet.
Is the ethernet light on, both on the TC and HH3.. the little light next to the port.. or it might be on the main panel of the HH3.
Find out what the error messages are by opening the airport utility and click on the TC.

  • Apple TV 2 Airplay/Mirroring with BT Home Hub 5

    Hello,
I've just had BT infinity 2 installed along with a Home Hub 5. Internet is working fine and I have numerous iPads, iPhones, Android phones and computers connected and working fine.
I have an Apple TV 2 which will stream from Netflix and Apples own movie repositry fine however if I try and use Airplay or Mirroring after around 5 seconds my Apple TV gets booted form the wireless network and I have to reconnect.
I've recently moved from Virgin Media where I used a modem and a DLink Dir-655 which worked flawlessly so I'm sure its the HomeHub 5 which is the problem.
Has anyone got Airplay and/or Mirroring working with their HomeHub 5? I am wondering if its anything to do with the 5ghz band as I notice the Apple TV connects on 5hz where as my old router was only 2.4ghz compatible.
    Any help apreciated.

Have you tried disabling the 5GHz frequency on the home hub?
I believe that there are things you need to do, to synchronise the two SSIDs, but as I only have a HH1, I am sure someone will be able to help.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Problem using static IPs on PCs with BT Home Hub 2

    Hi
Have today just been upgraded to BT Infinity using the new VDSL modem and BT Home Hub.
I have a server running Ubuntu and several PCs and laptops, mostly connected via ethernet.
Prior to the upgrade I was using the 10.x.x.x range for the network with most of the devices using static IPs.  However, it seems that the 10.* range is not acceptable when configuring the IP address and Subnet mask on the Home Hub.  Great! .... Not.
Anyway, so decided to switch to using the 192.168.x.x range (subnet 255.255.0.0).  Have configured the router as .1.1 and my server as .3.1.  However, the server is unable to ping virtually all sites on the Internet (I say all as some times www.google.com works ok.)
Also all PCs will not work with static IP configurations (using IPs like .4.1, .5.1, etc.).  The only way I can get the PCs and laptops to work is to use the DHCP setting (Obtain IP from server).  This is configured on the home hub as .100.1 - .100.254
I really need the PCs and laptops to work with static IPs.
Am I missing something or is this a known problem with the Home Hub?  It seems that the Home Hub will only connect to the Internet if it is configured to grab an IP from DHCP on the Home Hub.
Thanks for any help in advance.
    Sarah

Ok.  I think I have found a work-around for this, which shows that the problem is the BT home hub.
Delete all the devices showing on the hub (in the Advnaced Settings).
Configure each PC with a static IP address with the required IP. Reboot the PC.  After logging in, go to the router and enter the device showing in the home hub and set the device so that it always uses the IP address (as it will have registered the IP - even though it is outside the DHCP range).  Save this.  Go back to the PC and reconfigure the network settings to use DHCP and reboot the PC.  The PC will then continue to re-use the original IP address, which allows this to be used as a static IP address, thus allowing it to be used for apps that need to have a fixed IP.
    Repeat for each PC.
Although this works I have a feeling that the IPs used may only be retained as long as the home hub is not rebooted.
It shows that it is possible to use "static" IPs outside the 192.168.1.* range and outside the DHCP range (I was using 192.168.100.* and it worked ok).  Therefore there is no reason why this should not work as static IPs, other than that the firmware on the home hub does not allow it.  What rubbish.
I cannot wait until some of the other manufacturers (like Linksys, Netgear, Belkin) jump on the VDSL bandwagon and produce compatiable routers.
    Regards
    Sarah

  • Airport extreme with BT Home HUB 5

I had airport extreme Time machine + two airport express.
Since I connected with BT Home hub 5 very unstable and range very limited.. time out all the time . and even close to the AE time machine very slow connection.
    ?? what should I do?
I wna t to keep my Apple Wifi and my network name?

What model is the TC and running which firmware??
How well does the wireless on the HH5 work with the wireless off on the TC? That will give me some idea of the level of signal you are getting.
You always need to take this one step at a time.
Wireless is a technology more akin to voodoo.. add a healthy dose of black arts, some gremlins and stardust.. and there you have it.. chaos in a box.
Apple has a wireless diagnostic software onboard. Since Mountain Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5606
The utility section is a big help at figuring out problems.
Load it onto a laptop and do a wireless survey around your house.. it can also show if the neighbour is fighting you will new equipment.
    Survey both 2.4ghz and..
    5ghz
Do it from HH5 only.. TC only and both together..
Check channels and check interference levels.. take notes so trying to overcome the voodoo with some science.
Take screenshot in different parts of the house and store them in a document so you can compare different charts..
Watch particularly for link speeds. and as you move away from the same room how quickly the signal drops.
If you post some of the screenshots as above we might be able to say more.
But a general observation.. try to put the TC near where you need it.. if that means several rooms away run ethernet to that location.. and run the TC there with ethernet if possible to desktop computers. Only use wireless to clients that need it. EOP adapters can replace ethernet if wiring is not possible although it is less than reliable it is still better than wireless.. they pack them with lower gremlin counts.

  • Time Capsule with BT Home Hub - 9 hours of trying to set up and counting...

Hi...I am at my wits end having spent two long evenings trying simply to connect a Time Capsule to an iMac. We have pored over the instructions, read all the postings in all the forums, probably in the entire world (OK, slight exaggeration) and tried every possible combination, and still we end up with a non-responsive Time Capsule (blinking amber light), and the Airport software saying "Waiting for the Time Capsule to restart" in a perpetual loop. The issues may well be around compatibility with the BT Home HUb, but there again they may not. There are no clues about why it fails so consistently in every combination. For the record, these are the combinations we have so far tried: ethernet connection from WAN port on TC to Ethernet port on Home Hub...A wired connection is established successfully. But then immediately the wireless connection wizard starts up, we can't turn it off, and the wireless connection wizard fails. We have tried it in all three combinations of the Wireless wizard. The end result is always the above, the blinking amber light.
We have tried adding the TC without any ethernet connection being involved in the first place. This was the most promising, we actually finally got a green light on the TC itself, but, crucially, NOT in the Airport software: that just hung in the same perpetual loop saying "waiting for Time capsule to restart", even though it CLEARLY HAD RESTARTED (because it gave us the green light). So, after about 9 hours and counting trying to get this "out of the box" solution simply to be recognised by a Mac computer, let alone connected to any other devices in the house (heaven forbid), we are now at our wit's end. Does anyone have any advice?

hi cprelude, I have the same or nearly the setup as you a BT HH V1 and a 500gb timecapsule this is hardwired to bt hh and works well so fear not it can be resolved. first hold the reset button on the HH with the TC disconnected, then while the HH is restarting unplug the TC for a couple of mins then replug inyour TC with the reset switch at the rear pushed in and then let the TC restart and plug in the ethernet cable to thr HH then use Airport utility to connect to the TC. then if all goes well you can set up two wireless networks first being the HH and the second the TC 5ghz. if I was you I would do the first backup on TC via ethernet as the first wireless backup can take hours and hours depending on the amount GBs you already have on your hard drive
    good luck
    john

  • Apple TV 2nd Generation - wont connect to Itunes on Windows 7 Computer, with BT Home Hub 2

So have been searching around all over the Interweb and cant put my finger on an answer.
Apple TV is up to date and so is Itunes. Connecting via wireless.
Apple TV connects to internet fine, and also allows airplay via Ipad. It is reporting the correct router address so I am assuming it is all on the same network and happy that way.
I can see the Apple TV device in Home hub manager.
In Apple TV and Itunes I have turned on Home Sharing. (In fact tried turning off and on a number of times)
Initially I can see in Apple TV the Library I am trying to connect to. So you select and it goes away for a while and comes back with "Cannot connect to Neils Library"...
So I searched around and looked at ports that you maybe should open on the computer to allow other devices to search for Itunes - TCP 3689 and UDP 5353. So I created a new Application Sharing entry in the home hub, and assigned that to my PC only. (maybe I havent done that correctly? Followed a guide on a port forwarding website)
Weirdly then - when I go back to my Apple TV and look at "computers" on the menu, it can no longer see my Itunes library. Before it could see the library, but errored when trying to connect to it.
Have also tried turning the firewall off.
So I am a bit stuck. Any suggestions or past experience would be gratefully received.
    Thank you!
    Neil

OK - I managed to fix this. Will document for others.
I started to think it was a firewall thing. So I turned off both my Windows 7 firewall and my BT Home hub firewall. It started working!
So turned back on the BT home hub firewall - still working. So it must be a windows 7 firewall.
Went in and checked that Itunes was there as an exception... Yep. So why still not working?
Found out that the entry in my Windows 7 firewall said I-Tunes - but when you looked at the details button it wasnt pointing to a program - it was just blank.
So added a new entry and pointed that at the I-Tunes exe file.
    Now all working...

  • How do I set up my new tc to work with my home hub 2?

Hi. This is my first time in this community, so hope I'm doing this right!  I have a bt home hub2 and have just purchased a 2tb time capsule to go with my brand new iMac. Please help me to set up the tc to work with the bt home hub. I want to use the tc wireless capability and think I will have to set up a new network and switch off bt wireless, but I'm not sure. Bit of a novice at this kind of thing so any help you can give in nice simple steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In UK BT generally use PPPoA authentication only so you will have to keep using the home hub as the main router. Put the Time Capsule.. TC.. in bridge mode. To do this go to the airport utility, on menu selection go to internet, and make sure it is set to ethernet for method of connection, and in connection sharing, select bridge. Then select update.. it will probably list some issues like password needing changing and access via wan etc .. almost all of which you can simply ignore.. as you are not using it in router mode.
The TC will save the setting and restart.. it will now exist as a wireless access point and switch on the network. The WAN is swapped to LAN, so there is no WAN port as such but it is still convenient to use WAN port marked <...> ethernet between home hub and the TC. Then setup wireless as you like. You can turn off the wireless in home hub, and just use the TC.. or use both, on different channels. That is no big problem. Set the security for the wireless is important and I would also manually set wireless channels and use different name for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless. But just start and learn what you need to as you go along. Getting the basics working should be fairly easy. Some of the more complex stuff you just need to read carefully the instructions..
    And read this site.
Carefully and until your eyes bleed. Almost everything you want to know is there already.

  • PC loud speaker with bt home hub

We installed the hub some months ago but only yesterday did I try the loud speaker for watching something on iplayer. There was just a very loud hum, moving the hub away helped the hum but still no other sound. Any suggestions and thanks in advance.

....... 'you hum it son, I'll play it' (circa 1971)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzEBLa3PPk
For the OP, as stated above, check your sound settings/drivers, also check your speaker/amp/sub-woofer cable connections to and from your PC
I had a similar problem as you (a hum) a few days ago when Infinity was installed.
My sub-woofer, about 10years old, is placed on a little shelf under my PC desk. It has sat next to my both my old Netgear routers for years, with no problem.
When the high speed modem and Home Hub were installed in the same place as the Netgear, I was getting a slight hum out of the speaker, not much, but just about enough to annoy you once you hear it. Once you hear it, you can't stop concentrating on it, which makes it appear worse than it really is.
Anyway, I could have moved the sub-woofer/amp somewhere away from the modems, concluding that the electromagnet screening was either poor in the modem(s), or poor in the sub-woofer/amp. That may have fixed it, or I could have been very unlucky to find out that it was the speaker cables that were unscreened or poorly screened.
So I took a risk, and decided to replace my speaker/sub-woofer setup, as the whole caboodle is a bit aged now (like me).
Yesterday, I popped over to my Curry's superstore, and purchased a reasonably nice little Sony Active Speaker System. Installed that in the same place, and they work and sound great to me. More modern, better screening I suppose. I know that it a bit of a drastic way to go about things ........ but I do LIKE new gadgets
I bought this, £10 off the original price , Sony SRS-D21 Multi Channel PC Speaker System.
