Just tried to update the iTouch from 4.1 to 4.2 - it froze and isn't being recognized, or restoring.....Help!
Need help - this is my son's iTouch, and he lives on the thing.....
I did a hard reset on mine because to start it fresh because I was having problems with syncing come to find out it is this newest verision of iTunes, it is not recognizing iPod Touchs or iPads. Wonderful, right.

Hi, I have just tried to update the iPhone software and it appears to be updating but the screen on my phone has had the same picture of the apple and its at the same spot of loading (about 3 quarters) for the last HOUR!! help!

I have just tried to update the software on my iPad and it is now asking me to connect to iTunes. The last time I did this it did not tell me to do this. I'm currently travelling and do not have my MacBook with my iTunes.Can it be resolved without iTunes

You really do want to restore with your own computer. There is an off chance that you might be able to backup first, but I really think it is a very slight chance now since you got the connect to iTunes screen. But on the chance that when you connect, it sees the iPad and allows a backup, I would to not have you wait to use your own Mac.
If you cannot create a backup, you will lose everything that you have put on since the date to the last backup. So of your last backup was three weeks ago, you will restore the iPad to the condition that it was in three weeks ago.
If you do a lot of traveling, using iCloud for backups might be a very good idea. I use iTunes primarily and I backup my MacBook Pro with Time Capsule, but I still use iCloud as a secondary backup. I don't have enough data that I have exceeded the free 5 GB that you get with iCloud, so I do use it just in case.
I can't explain what happened with the update, I can only tell you that it does happen to other users. I have never had a problem when I updated and I having been updating over WiFi since iOS 5 came out. Taking a guess, maybe an interruption in the connection - especially of you tried updating using a hotel's WiFi network, or a power surge maybe. Whatever the cause, it is most likely a one time thing. That doesn't help your situation I know, but hopefully it won't happen again. -
I'm trying to take the bookmarks from my iphone 4 to my linux laptop and don't know how.
I know how to sync perfectly fine, but am fearing if I do it might just wipe the ones off my phone.
So how do I transfer them from my phone to laptop?Do you mean delete the music from your phone, or copy the purchases over to your computer's iTunes ?
If delete then you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show automatically on previous versions via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - you can then select the Music category under the phone 'device' on that sidebar and use the right-hand side to select and delete music from it.
If you want to copy your iTunes purchases over to your computer's iTunes then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over (if you are using a PC and the drop-down menus aren't showing then control-B should get them to do so) -
I attempted to update my iphone 4 from the settings on my phone to the iOS6 operating system. After doing this and the download appeared to be complete, my screen showed the itunes hook up. I hooked up to itunes, it said that my phone needed to be restored. After trying to restore it, itunes says an an error occured and my phone could not be retored. Now itunes won't recognize my phone! My screen now shows the iphone circle, but it isn't moving. I have hit the power and home button and it doesn't seem to work. What now??

I have been having trouble with my iPad 2 lately. I went and down loaded iOS 7 and installed it. Then when I came back it showed the low battery so I figured that the update just drained my battery. I plugged it into the charger and after a while it just showed the apple logo. Then when I came back to look at it it again was showing low battery even though it was on the charger the whole time. It seems to be stuck in a cycle of low battery and the apple logo, and it just can't seem to break that cycle. I need all the help I can get. Any suggestions?

I'm just trying to update from 3.5.8 to the latest version. Started on the website and it downloaded a desktop image only, no application. Then tried on Firefox to update under "Help". It's been spinning for an hour! Help. I just want the latest version
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

i just tried to install the 11.4 update (or whichever one is the most recent update as of 1/26/2014) and when it failed i tried to install manually and now whenever i try to use it, i get the following error: "The application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Right after i click ok i then get this error: "Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)." I tried to uninstall Itunes and then reinstall the 11.03 version but that didnt work either. I want to know if i copy all of the music in my itunes folder to an external without consolidating can i still transfer all my itunes music from my current windows xp pc to a brand new one and have my current itunes library in my new pc? Basically i just want to know 3 things: What exactly does consolidating the itunes library do? Can i copy, paste, and transfer my itunes library to an external and from there to a new pc? Will i be able to transfer my itunes library without consolidating the files?
I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Im trying to update my apps from the ipad in the app store section and when i press update the ipad tells me that im not connected to the itunes store??
Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I had deleted my Apps Icon from the phone as I was trying to update the new version iOS4.3.
However, after deleteing the Icon, I am not able to install the Apps Messenger again because I am not able to use the IOS.4.3 diagnostic password sent via email.
Installation was rejected because I need the iOS.4.3

MichaelThat situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly. Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled. I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned. Sorry this happened the way it did. Definitely not efficient.

My daughter was trying to update her itouch and somehow lost everything on it, but itunes seems to have restored it back to what was on an older ipod she used to have. I don't think we ever registered her itouch, and I know she didn't back it up to the computer. Any chance of getting her stuff back? She lost hundreds of pictures.
- You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- On the computer go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backup of her iPod.
Note that the backup does not included synced media like apps and music.
- Is she update the iPod via iTunes on other then the computer she syncs with the media on the iPod gets erased. Same for if on the syncing computer if the media was not in the iTunes library. -
I have a "firmware file not compatable" message whilst trying to update my iPhone4 from Sofftware Version 5.1 to 5.1.1 via iTunes. I have tried about 3 times and keep getting the same message. Any ideas/suggestions?
Since posting the above - I have now tried downloading the update on my iPhone rather than via iTunes, and its just worked and installed and seems fine! Was a lot quicker as well than the download time via iTunes
