Just tried update to iOS 7.1.2. Why has do I get a "replacement needed message"?
As directed, I just tried updating to iOS 7.1.2 on Ipad. Went through process and then was told to restore system. Now it says "Replacement needed". Why?

I have an iPad 2 (3rd Generation). It has a camera and does not have a retina screen. It was not until yesterday that my iPad informed me that an upgrade (IOS 7.0.2 was available for downloadeven though the upgrade has been available for over several wweks. I have been reading this thread and the earlier thread you recommended and have been putting off the upgrade until the replacement issue was resolved. Since there really has been not new updates to this tread, I am assuming nothing has happened. Although I feel bad for other members of this forum, my iPad is working perfectly well and I do not want to do anything to jeopardize that. I have been in regular contact with AppleCare who are very helpful. The issue has been escalated to the iOS Engineers (in Australia) and they said the issue is affecting some cellular iPad 2's (WiFi only iPad 2's should not be affected), and is definitely a server backend configuration problem with the cellular connections.
My iPad is a wifi only. Have you heard of any wifi only iPads experiencing an issue with the IOS 7.1.2 upgrade?

Help I just downloaded the most recent IOS 6 update and now messaging and facetime between wifes phone and sons ipod is very messed up. We were able to fix texting by shutting off Imessaging but still have issues with facetime just keeps saying the person is busy? any help would be great
Are you using the same Apple id for your devices? It might be the same Apple id. You can check by going to settings > FaceTime and it will say apple id. If it is the same log in into a diffrent account all of them. If that doesn't work Please reply to me and I will try my best to help you.

I have a 4S and just tried updating to the latest iOS version and my phone went into recovery mode and iTunes says I need to restore to factory settings. Anyone know how I can fix my phone without losing all my content?
You would only be able to restore to a backup to iCloud or iTunes:

I tried updating to iOS 8.1 but it have the apple symbol and a blue screen pops up and it restarts the process and its been going on about 3 weeks already. I dont know what to do? Is my iPad broke cause I just got that iPad in August.
Hi You may have a hardware fault take ipad to Apple Store. Ring then first to make an Appointment take box and you purchase paperwork they may give you A replacement. Before you do that Try a Reboot hold down power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo you may need to hold down for up to 30 Seconds But you may need to do this more than once. If it doesn't work take back to Apple Store. Cheers Brian

Been trying for hours to update a 4s and the furthest I get is the "-1" error.
So frustrating, I guess a visit to Apple is forthcoming.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If its stuck in recovery mode then you have to restore it. Hopefully you had a recent backup on Icloud or on your computer that you can apply after restoring it. If so then you shouldn't loose your data.
Just connect it to Itunes and restore it. After it will promt you when your done to restore from backup or as new. If its on icloud unplug the phone and go through the intro screen till you get the same prompt. Sign into icloud and restore backup. -

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I just tried updating to iTunes 10.7 and when I try to launch it I get this error message-The procedure entry point AVCFPlayerSetDirect3DDevice could not be located in the dynamic library AVFoundationCF.dll. Them it tells me to re-install iTunes and the same thing happens again. Any Ideas?
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Just tried to install IOS 7 to my iPad4 and it's failed, but also completely locked up the iPad. Can't now do anything with it, all that appears on screen is an image showing the cable connecting to iTunes but when I connect back to the PC nothing happens and iTunes doesn't show the iPad, so can't restore. Help please
You are now at Step 15.
Restore from iTune Backup
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm

19. See Apple and Progress Bar
20. Slide to Unlock
21. Copying Apps back to iPad (computer)
22. You'll see Loading/Installing/Waiting below the Apps (iPad)
23. Sync Music/Podcast/Movies to iPad (computer)

If the device is in recovery mode, any data on it is already lost.
The only options are:
Restore the device to get it functional.
Enjoy the paper weight.
For what reason did you attempt to update the device without first ensuring that your data was safe, meaning backing up the device and copying important pictures/videos taken with the device to a computer? -

I tried updating my iPod, and ever since it has not worked at all. If I hold in the lock & home button, it will tell me to plug it into iTunes. Once I do that, it says it will restore but every time, restoring it fails. My iPod is not working at all, and I really have no idea what to do. It is just a black screen, and occasionally the white apple will appear as if it were turning on, but it won't turn on. I just need some suggestions on what to do!
