I'm trying to post a question in the iPhoto discussion group, but there is no "post new topic" option. Any ideas on how to get there??? Thanks, KM.

Exactly which forum are you trying to post in? There are several and you have to enter one of them to see the "Post New Topic" button.
• iPhoto 4 and earlier
iPhoto 5
• Installing & Using iPhoto 5
• Editing & Organizing in iPhoto 5
• Printing; Book & Print Orders with iPhoto 5
• Using .Mac with iPhoto 5
If you really don't see the button, I would recommend you post in the Feedback about Discussions forum. But, you can click on one of my links to post in that forum.

You can't post in a category like iPhoto:

IWeb won't publish--am just trying to post a photo page

I've been publishing my website for years now and all of a sudden I'm getting a 'An Unknown Error Has Occurred' when it's trying to publish the new page of photos I just added. I've encountered lots of errors over time and know what most of them mean, but this one doesn't seem to be any kind of server or system issue--it seems there's a problem with the page of photos I'm trying to add. I have rebuilt that page a few times now (in the same way I've always done it) and nothing seems to be working. Can it be a problem with one of the photos I've added? What could be causing this? The other pages of my website (including photo pages) seem like they aren't the problem--the issues always arises when it comes to the new page I've added. I've been at this for 2 days now. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Not sure--I believe MobileMe. I've got a GoDaddy domain address that automatically forwards to my .mac account.

Inbox inundated with iPhoto Discussions.

I have talked with Apple Care 3 times in the last 3 days, relative to iPhoto Discussions taking over my incoming Mail (v.4.5), and setting "Notifications". The last Agent (Case # 226704576), using Apple's Remote Control, didn't know the meaning (nor did I) of the Apple words used to describe the final "Yes-No"! I was instructed to leave the 2nd to last button checked YES. I did. The flood continues!
Please tell me which box of boxes should be checked so I can receive iPhoto Discussions Notifications appropriately. At this moment, I have all boxes checked NO; yet the problem of flooding my inbox continues. How have you set your N otifications so that I can live with this Group? I'll never be able to find your reply to my urgent need; how can I find your reply? I'll try seeking out the most recent.

OK; I finally found out how I lost two Reply posts to iPhoto Discussions!
After I had written two reply letters directed to the Group and Old Toad, I struck "add reply", and a pink-highlighted 'error' came up. What had I done wrong? While searching on methods to get my two reply letters to iPhoto Discussions, I clicked on "Use Advanced Editor". My entire reply disappeared! I'm learning.

How can we have an anonymous 'User i.d." for discussion group posts only?

hi. Here we are asking a stupid Q on very first post. How can we have an anonymous 'User i.d." for discussion group only? Seem to be stuck with our regular old original Apple i.d. I see how that can be changed, but don't really want to cuz just want to have my posts signed with a more anonymous i.d. name. Should be simple to do, but not obvious to us now.

Welcome To  Discussions thelnukus!
The Alias of the account you are using, cannot be changed, but you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
But your Level(0), Points(0), Total Posts(2), Total Posts Online(2) and Registered Date(12/19/06), will not be transferred.
In the new account, your Post Counts, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old Alias.
(You really don't have anything accumulated, to be concerned about though.)
After you quit using the old account, those 2 posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the old account, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
To create a new account,
Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.

If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
-To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page. In the resulting page, click the "create one" link at the bottom of the page, then click "create one" in the subsequent page and follow the instructions to create an Apple ID. For more information, see the Apple ID FAQ page.

I have windows 7 64 bit, Core i5, I have tried every option identified in the discussion groups but still cannot connect to the iTunes Store, any ideas?

I have a brand new Core i5 Windows 64bit laptop, but cannot connect to the iTunes Sore. I have tried every solution suggested in the discussion groups but I still cannot connect. This includes completely removing all security and firewalls, and I still cannot connect. I have re-load the software in different combinations again to no avail. Any ideas anyone?

This sounds like a problem with the site you are trying to post to - contact their support team or forum - It is not an iPhoto error

thats tough man, yeah exchanging it is the best option. But why do people always leave a message saying" i'll probably just by an ipod" and it's usually followed by, "even though i don't like apple or ipod" . I mean fine, if u feel like giving up on the zen micro thats fine, i personally don't care if you're going to buy an ipod. for god sakes ipod isn't even the next alternati've mp3 players, theres plenty. Are u just trying to get the creative people saying "oh man we lost another one to ipod" cuz i'm sure they don't lose sleep over u wanting to buy an ipod instead of a zen. *done ranting*

You can't open your backups directly with apps.
But you can see some types of files in your backups. If you're still on Snow Leopard (or Lion with iPhoto '09 or earlier), see the gray box at the end of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #15.
If you're on Lion with iPhoto '11, you can use the Finder to see the iPhoto library, per the beginning of that same link. All you can see there is the library and size.

HT1338 I keep trying to post things to facebook via iphoto and everytime I try to set it up it tells me an error has occurred and to try again later. I try later and it still says this, it's been saying it for the past week now.

If you correctly stated that you are importing an iPhoto library into another one it will not work as TD said
The only way to do it is to drag the old library intact as a single entity to the pictures folder of the new system and then launch iPhoto
There is no importing, dragging and dropping or uploading involved

I was trying to post a message on Facebook but didn't know what to press as I don't often use it, so I tapped edaround the message hoping this would work but what happened was that a line of numbers were added to th message which I recognised as one of my credit cards.As I have never bought any thing on Facebook and I try not to store my cards I quickly deleted the numbers from the message and finally posted my message by pressing the return key on my Ipad. Can you tell me where my credit card number came from?

The clipboard is a place in memory where text that has been copied from is temporarily stored ready to be pasted elsewhere.
The clipboard cannot be viewed, and is essentially invisible to the user. Copied text will stay on the clipboard until it is replaced by the next piece of copied text.
Probably what happened is you copied your credit card number from somewhere, either intentionally or accidentally (perhaps you made a purchase on your iPad using this card recently), and the clipboard stored the number. Then, whilst you were using Facebook you (accidentally) pasted this credit card number from the clipboard into your Facebook message.
That's the only likely reason I can think of. Hope I explained it well enough!

Receiving messages even though I'm not subscribed to any discussion groups

Today I went to my e-mail and found I had received literally 100 messages from a discussion thread from the "iPod" discussion group under digital life despite the fact that I am NOT subscribed to any group and have no subscriptions showing under "My Subscriptions". I also would not have used this, my primary e-mail address, had I known this was possible, but since it is my Apple ID as well, I had no option to use another.
I contacted Apple support but they could not offer any help other than to say I could block all the e-mails coming from Apple. This simply isn't acceptable as I do receive e-mails from Apple from time to time that I do want to receive.
I simply was trying to assist another iPod user who had their Nano stolen with some of my experiences and tips. Had I known I would be in danger of getting bombarded with e-mails for doing so I never would have partcipated in the group.
Making matters worse the representative (Breanna) I called at support was no help and actually repeated several times that this was not her job and that she simply could not help. I thought Apple took great pride in their customer support? I need to be removed from the forum or whatever it takes to stop these e-mails from coming in.
Since I have no control I can only assume that 100 might just be a small portion of what might be coming...
Please stop this for me!!!!

Thanks, but I have checked that and have even gone to "My Subscriptions" and it shows that I have subscribed to nothing. I even tried subscribing and unsubscribing to this particular discussion group to see if that would help and I am not showing anything that says I'm subscribed to any group.
The point is I never chose to subscribe to anything. It takes an overt act, a selection on the icon to subscribe. I never did select, press or otherwise choose to subscribe to anything. I thought I was simply replying to a post that I thought I could help someone with. I was very careful when I was signing up to be able to post to NOT select to receive any e-mails, notices or subscribe to anything. I don't understand how this could happen if I never chose to do so unless there is a problem in the server or in the security of the site. It sure makes you not want to try and help anyone here again...

I am trying to upgrade to iPhoto 11 but can't get into App Store.

I am trying to upgrade to iPhoto 11 so it works with Maverick. but in App store the pervious owner of the computer name wants to be login for iPhoto. I keep login in but when i try to get the new iPhoto his name keeps coming up with the computer previous owners name. In the log in his user name/email is greyed out and it just wants his password. I cant remove his name. On the system setting it shows me as being logged into the App Store. I have gone to various discussion groups but none have covered this problem. suggestions?

You need to erase the Mac and start over. Everything is pretty much registered to the original owner's Apple ID. It is encoded in the software and you won't be able to update anything Mac App Store software without the original owners Apple ID. Plus everything of his that you have now is pirated software. The Terms of USe don't allow him to pass anything but the original version of OS X to you.
