Just Updated iPhone 3GS to iOS5, Can't receive any incoming calls at all
Hi, I just updated my phone to iOS5 and now, I'm having these troubles.
- Can't receive any incoming calls at all
- The incoming calls directly goes to voice mail greeting
- No incoming rings & no missed calls alerts
- Also noticed the incoming text with 4 to 5 hours delays
- Sometimes 3G network get lost
The reception (status bar) is good level, can make outgoing calls okay and can send text okay.
I did try reset the network setting and it seems working a few hours then went back to troubles (mentioned above).
I've done 3 or 4 times reset but none have been resolved yet.
Anyone having a same issues?

After reset "All network settings" a several times, it seems working but few hours later it 's been gone back to troubles again.
Is this related to iOS5 or O2?
I've contacted the network carrier several times but no-one yet get back to me.
Any ideas, please helps.

If the Edit button is missing and you have enabled iCloud, check Settings>iCloud, set Contacts to ON.

After downlaoding ios5 and installing I get the message "we are unable to complete your activation at this time" when trying to update iphone 3gs to ios5 using itunes. Can anyone help?

yes there is a sign on the top of the screen that shows phone is LOCKED....may be that is why the phone didn't recognizing the sim...i think first i need to unlock it again then hopefully phone wil start working again ..but i dont know HOW TO UNLOCK ???...need help from u guys with this .

i guess the above link can solve my problem but i didn't try this process on my iphone yet may be it will harm some of iphone applikcations...?? like SOUND LOST. mailing problem etc...the guy who doing the trick in vedio says u need AT&T sim to do it on ur phone..

Just upgraded iPhone 3GS to IOS5. Now in itunes I can see there's 21GB of Others. I have no idea what is that. I didnt have that before the upgrade. How to get rid of it? It's taken up all the space on the phone.
I posted a fix for this temporary issue earlier but here it is in short:
The memory "hog" that is "others" seems to be the OS as it's installing. It seems to want more than 12GB and you may get stuck at the point where iTunes tries to load everything back on and the iPhone has run out of space. What you need to to is un-check the "sync" box at the apps, music, podcasts and other sections, then click the button to sync iTunes with iPhone. This will result in iTunes deleting all the data it restored, but you'll put it back later. Once you caused the deletion of most of the data, iOS5 will resume installing and then "magically" shrink to less than 1GB. Then you can place check marks back in the boxes and re-sync all your apps and other data. You will have plenty or memory left.
I followed the above procedure and my iPhone works perfectly.

Just updated to 8 & now I can not open any web pages as well as firefox will not close out, it still running in the background after browser was closed. I uninstalled and reinstalled as well as disabled add-ons and plugins nothing has changed, can I downgrade back to on older version?

In the phrase " i wanna be able to reveive the call without being able to answer nor see who is calling" what do you mean by able to receive the call but not be able to answer it or see who is calling?

Updated iphone 3gs to ios5 now I can't open contacts or make phone calls
This afternoon I decided to update my iphone 3GS to ios5 and now I find that I can not open the contacts app or the phone app which told me I had missed calls and a voicemail they just both immediately close. I tried opening the settings > mail, contacts page and that closes immediately and after creating an icloud account thing I tried to turn contacts on and it just automaticaly closes. I tried creating a contact from an existing message and it automaticaly close. I've sync'd the phone numerous times and it's the same deal. It's only these two apps that don't work

IPhone 3GS disconnects tethering when I receive/make a call
I use my iPhone in the bluetooth tethered mode for about 8 hours a day when at work. I have a 10GB plan and tethering is allowed by the carrier (Singtel Singapore).
However, ever since I upgraded to 3.1.3 my iPhone disconnects the tethering whenever I receive or make call. The iPhone reverts to the 2G mode and I can only switch it back after the call.
To restore I do the following steps
1. Toggle airplane mode to go back to 3G
2. Go to network mode and enable tethering, it shows tethering as 'OFF'
Its really frustrating, I have to keep interrupting my work on the laptop if I get a call, and more importantly I cannot look up information on the tethered laptop when I am on a call, really defeating the purpose of tethering.
I have done several system restores, reset the network settings, all to no avail.
Any guidance/help on this will vastly improve my workday!!this means there is something corrupt in your backup file.. unfortunately you keep restoring the same bad data onto the phone your going to have to restore as new and start over. If you replace the phone and restore the backup the same thing will happen over and over again. Your only option is to restore as new and sync your apps and music back on sorry.

Contact your phone carrier. See if they can resolve the issue.

Hello.
I have a serious problem. Yesterday, Itunes requested to update my phone to IOS5 (My Iphone was working perfectly on the older version of IOS)
Updater got stuck on the recover part for an hour until I recieved an error. " Iphone could not be restored. Unknown error (14)."
On my phone's screen it wants me to plug it into itunes. Itunes says "ITunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode.
IPhone software must be restored before it can be used with iTunes"
I try to restore it and same problem occurs. Any ideas? I've noticed some people are facing problems with ios5 update also.

However, when I open my phone; I do not need to enter a password! So it can not be password locked?!!
How can I unlock this single feature? As I can make calls, text, surf the internet etc just this specific feature apparently is locked.
The problem isnt it is password locked! The problem is when i try to view previously saved pics via the lockscreen camera shortcut It reads "your iphone is locked" and I cannot.
However once I take a pic via this shortcut it does save and can be viewed (but not as part of my previously saved pics). My previously saved pics are only accessible via the photo app.
My confusion solely lies in why it reads "your iphone is locked"?
