Just updated to ios6 on an ipod touch 4g.
after update to ios6 on ipod touch 4g, finger print, connected to a windows xp machine does not work. Printing from an email does not show any printers.
Maunally restore it. In order to do this:
-Download the iOS 5.1.1 firmware from here http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/
1. After downloading the firmware from the given link, open iTunes and click on your device.
2. Now press SHIFT on your keyboard and while pressing it click on "Restore".
3. A dialog box will appear.
4. Select the firmware you downloaded and click ok.
5. Done!!! Your iPhone will now be restored to 5.1.1 and if you had backed up your iPod before, then you can put all its settings afterwards.

Facetime and imessage become useless after update to ios6 in my ipod touch 4th gen
hi,
anyone having problems with facetime and imesssage in ipod touch 4th gen after updating to ios6?
I have tried a lot of things from changing the DNS, restarting the network, reset all the setting.
But still, it does not resolve the problems. My ipod still cannot send or receive any imessage or facetime.
In addition, my ipod is able to connect to wifi and access to itunes or app store.
Somebody help me..
ThanksiMessage worked last night after upgrading iOS6 briefly. It has not worked since I also upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion on my Mac. This really ***** since I use my iPod to text during the day when I'm not home. Anyone have any luck fixing iMessage after upgrading to iOS6? Seems this is a big issue.

I have a Macpro Book and I just downloaded new software to my ipod touch(3rd gen). Now it does not show up in itunes nor does it turn on. I believe it just downloaded the software and never updated it. What do I do?
You appear to have a second generation iPod touch, not a third, and those can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold 8GB second generation models at the same time as the third generation ones.

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next connect to iTunes and update via iTunes. Others have had the same problem. -
I tried to restore, update and back up my ipod touch. once it said it was successful i clicked on the label of my ipod in itunes and it had written, "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." now whenever i click on the label it just says that and on my ipod it tells me to plug into itunes when it already is. i didnt update restore or back it up with the latest version, so i downloaded the latest version, how do i start the process again so my ipod works!! help this is gay !!
Hmm, well... iTunes trys to activate your iPod using the Apple server to make sure you have bought it legit.
Two things come into my mind:
1) Your iTunes can't access the internet.
2) Apples activation servers are down.
That's just my cents, maybe anyone else has an idea. -

You need to restore.
Everything should be on your computer, so you can just sync it back.

I'm trying to update an app on my iPod touch but it says that it's unable to download the application at this time. I've tried everything what else can I do to fix this problem??
Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again. -
How do i update the software on my ipod touch? i went to settings, then general, but theres no option called software updates.
You needing to be running iOS 5 or later in order to do a Software Update from the device. To run iOS 5 you need a 3G or 4G iPod Touch. So if you really have a 4G iPod Touch, connect it to iTunes and you should be prompted about an update to its version of iOS.

I just bought my daughter a new iPod touch for her bday its not even 4 days old and the screen completely shattered on it. Can this be fixed or do I just have to toss it. I've never bought an I pod or anything before.

I updated the ios on my ipod touch. Now when I browse the itunes store on my ipod, it only allows a very brief visit before automatically closing me out. I have to go back into the store and begin searches etc all over again. Is this a setting or a problem that is randomly occuring? I use to look for hours. Any thoughts?

I downloaded a recommended update and since then my ipod touch (3rd gen) is frozen and will not turn on. I try restoring factory settings but the process terminates with a 1604 error. I have researched this problem on the net and think i have tried everything, but still no joy. I have tried removing all apple and itunes software and reinstalling, updating the apple drivers - nothing has worked. I am using itunes 10.3 on my pc, windows xp.
If anyone can help me i would be extremely grateful - I am off on holiday on thursday and would love to have my ipod with me!

Craig.Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
