Just upgraded perl, and boom! cgi-scripts went kerflooey

Allright, I don't know too much about perl's configuration, so I don't know if this is an issue with my system, or the upgrade.
I've got some perl scripts in /home/httpd/cgi-bin/. They're the MT (Movable Type) engine scripts. Before the upgrade, they worked just fine. Upgrade perl, and then I try http://192.168.1.25/cgi-bin/mt.cgi and get:
Server error!
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

So, now I try running the scripts on the command line to see if I can get some better output from it:

delete the package out of /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
redownload, and install, and everything is fine

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):

Alternatively ou could try Gutenprint (open source software):

I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

Can we just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP to a higher release...

We hit a bug in our BI Portal which has been recently upgraded from SPS12 to SPS16 and as per one of the SAP note, the fix is to apply SP17 for BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP. We applied it in our Sandbox and the error is no longer there, however I was wondering if it's allowed to just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP on the J2ee side without impacting or breaking any relationship amongst the components?

Hi,
Yes, your basis guy is right. This activity will take time. This is not just the kernel upgrade, you have to do SPAU and SPDD. Also you need to do functional testing as well.
Whole process will take time and it is not just the basis work. Other teams will also be involved in testing, performing SPDD and SPAU etc.
Also, to upgrade to EHP1, kernel upgrade is mandatory and it will be performed by upgrade tool only during upgrade. I would suggest to read upgrade guide.

Not if you purchased it from the App Store. But if it's part of the iLife boxed set, then you have to repurchase. But you can purchase on the App Store which then lets you install it on as many computers as you own.

The rule of thumb I follow says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open. I have seen the scratch file exceed 300 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS. I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.
The scratch often exceeds 300 GB when working with very large pano shot, for instance; and in one extreme case I've seen it grow to over 800 GB.

Upgrading iCloud give you more storage on iCloud but doesn't change the storage on your phone. One option that involves iCloud is to turn on iCloud Photo Library and utilize the option in the section titled "How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device" in iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Note that it is still in beta and that you may want to consider more proven options such as moving photos to a computer or other more mature 3rd party cloud service.

Just upgraded itunes and now it won't work

ive just upgraded my itunes and whenever i try to load it up i get an agreement mesage that come up for a second then goes and i can't get into itunes. I've since tried to downgrade but that didnt help and i have read about the norton method of fixing this but i don't have norton either. Im really stuck please help.

Irssi, perl and the notification script

I've been testing this perl script to get notifications using notify-send under irssi:
notify.pl
The problem is, this script sends a notification when irssi window is either active or inactive. I find it useless to notify me when I'm typing a message, as I can see if I get new messages, so I'd like it to notify only if the irssi window is inactive (example, using Chromium, so I don't see irssi).
I've tried asking the coder who did this code, but he said that he doesn't know the way to find out if the window is active or inactive, since irssi runs in a terminal.
Any ideas appreciated.

I think it's nearly impossible to do that. The script has to check if the terminal irssi is running in is the active X window.
I don't know of a way to get the title/id of the window irssi is running in, from within the script. And then you still need a way to get the title/id of the focused window.
And what's with the scenario, that you see the whole window but it's not active. That would involve way too much work.
If you're using urxvt you could also set the 'URxvt.urgentOnBell' resource and change the script to simply ring the bell. The window manager should then highlight the window if it's not active. But this works only for the first notification.

Just upgrade Pages and now I keep getting this asinine message about a new version when I attempt to open Pages 09

I just upgraded to the new version of Pages that was released today.
Before that I could start up either the old Pages 09 version or the new version whichever one I visit.
Seeing as how I have a lot document that use feature not included in the newer version I have been running the older version most of the time.
Now if I attempt to do that, I get this asinine message about a new version which takes me to the new version and gives me now way to open the older version.
Is any one aware of a work around for this problem?
I am going the express my displeasure on the Apple Feedback page now also.

Apple does say it won't respond to feedback.

Just upgraded plan and now my phone isnt working

I just upgraded my plan on my phone. It's a prepaid Moto G. I used to have the $45/mo Unlimited Talk&Text with 500mb data plan but then i noticed there was a $45/mo plan with the same stuff but with 1GB of data. So i upgraded it through the My Verizon app on my phone and got a couple of text messages saying "Thanks for joining the plan blah blah blah" but now when i go to try to call or text anybody it says i have "insufficient funds". I did it like half an hour or so ago and it's still not working. Will it just take a while to update? I'm hoping it will be fine by tomorrow.

IPhoto just "upgraded" library and "erased" everything

I keep my library on my external HD and have been meaning to make a backup just in case something like this happened.
The other day, I opened my library and everything was fine. Then it froze up and I shut it down, I don't remember if I force quit or not. When I went to reopen iPhoto there was the gray loading icon in the middle and the pointer turned into the pinwheel. I let it run for a little and then nothing happened so I force quit. Tried again.
Ended up holding CMD + OPTN when opening iPhoto to do a rebuild but it never seemed to work.
Got home, cleared space on my ext HD to duplicate my iPhoto library. Opened iPhoto again when I had free time during the snow day yesterday and it brought up a message saying that the library or iPhoto needed to be upgraded and it won't be compatible with previous versions or something like that.
iPhoto opened and it was empty! So I checked the iPhoto file/folder and it still said 177GB so I knew my photos were still there.
NOW I was able to do a proper rebuild and I worked my way down to that through the four option provided by iPhoto.
End result: All photos (assumed because it says ~42,000+) are now in a Recovered folder in iPhoto but all Albums, Events, Faces and any other form of organization is missing. I don't want to have to redo the past 4 years of organizing.
Also, I still have the iPhoto library copied (pre-rebuild albeit post-damage.)
I have also downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and it manages to show the Events and albums but they have nothing in them. They all show "(0)"
I would like to recover the file(s) that organized my iPhoto library. Please help!

I have just upgraded. AND now I can't view video fullscreen on my secondary monitor?!! Why!

I have a dual monitor set-up, with sharing. I am on a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5
I am viewing my Firefox window on my secondary monitor. (NOT Primary) When I click any video to full-screen it loads the full-screen on my primary monitor. When I click the window to full-screen (on my secondary monitor) it fills the primary monitor.
Before I upgraded, this morning, I could click the full-screen button and my video would appear on the secondary monitor. (The same monitor.) Before this morning, I could re-size the browser window to full-size and view it in my secondary monitor. (The same monitor!)
So, explain to me, why the change? Why is it when I click on a video to enter full-screen, or want to re-size a window to full-screen on my secondary monitor, it views on my primary monitor. Does this make any sense?
Why? Why would somebody want to browse on one monitor, want to watch something fullscreen, click a button and then watch it on another monitor? I just don't get it. Or why would someone be browsing in a window on one monitor, click full-screen, and want to browse in the same window on another monitor?
I am sitting here facing my secondary monitor (which I use as my art-board) and my primary monitor sits to my left. I mainly work from my secondary monitor, so when I am drawing, painting and designing my cursor doesn't 'run into' my dock features, calendar, ext. When browsing in Firefox my window is where it should be, in-front of me. So why would I want to watch a video or browse the web on my left? Why? Why would any developer or designer do this! Especially considering the second, non viewing screen is black! Which means my secondary monitor (in-front of me) is black.
When I click, view full-screen, whether video or resizing windows, whether it is my primary or secondary monitor, don't you think the screen should appear full-screen in the monitor I am using?! Right?! I mean somehow you calculated a way for Firefox to recognize which monitor to reopen in. So what's up? I didn't have this problem last week? So tell me . . . why can't I open a video in full-screen on my secondary monitor like I have been doing for years? Why am I even having to write a complaint about something I used to be able to do. I just checked Safari. Wow. Look at that! When I want to view a video in full-screen in the appropriate monitor I can! Wow! I can actually click on my secondary monitor and it's recognizes I want to watch the video on the same monitor.
I used to be able to do this in Firefox. I guess it is time to give up on Firefox. And choose a company who understands user-perspective. Or at-least understands what an upgrade is.

I just purchased the additional storage for my iCloud account. And when I went to iCould.com today, my spreadsheets are gone. There is only one (of about 8) remaining, and it is an old version from May. Please help, I need these files!

As long as you save your documents to iCloud, those documents can only be accessed from there and that requires an internet connection.
Sorry this is NOT true.
You can access your iCloud documents when you are not online because they are stored on your computer.
So if you have time machine you can get back all your lost files.
Click the GO menu and press alt/option key to reveal the hidden Library folder.
Find the MOBILE DOCUMENTS folder and open.
All your iCloud documents from Numbers etc are stored in here.
They will probably be missing because they sync with the cloud.
Start up Time maching and scroll back to a date before all your files went missing and they will appear.
Restore the files.
