What variety of web based mail are you trying to sync to your phone?
How many accounts do you want to sync?
I currently have 2 yahoo addresses and 1 gmail address (for calendar only) that seem to sync without issues.
If you have !Yahoo try from scratch with this walkthrough and see if it works for you.

When I set mine up I recall there was an extra step ...from what I remember I had to put in a server number or name or something. There was a field on the phone that didn't show up until after you put in some basic info. The first two times I didnt see the extra field pop up, but it's there.

after processing in CS6 saved jpegs are washed out in when viewing in bridge - Why?

I have been trying to figure out if I made any accidental changes in Photoshop. So far I haven't found anything. That might simply mean that I don't know all of the places to look. I have called Adobe and been on the support websites and haven't gotten a clear answer. I save as a JPEG with an embedded color file sRGB. Any suggestions on where else to look for accidental changes?
Everyone seems to agree that iPhoto doesn't work well with Adobe and should be avoided in the workflow. Truly, I had no idea! I just like the simplicity. The Mac store never mentioned problems between the two but did offer to help me purchase Aperture. I will use Bridge from now on to view the images and manage folders.
    Thanks for your message!

  • Why do my images look washed out...

Why do my images look washed out after I have worked in Photoshop CS6 and saved them in Finder? I have been a Photoshop user for a while now and have never experienced this problem. It started 2 months ago and no one can seem to tell me why or how to fix it. I am a professional photographer and I have clients waiting on their images but I can't send them looking as horrible as they do. My workflow is: drag and drop an image from iPhoto or Finder to Photoshop. I change things like levels, contrast, image size and use the healing too. Then I save to Finder so I can upload to dropbox or to website or burn to a DVD. Now when I save the image the thumbnail looks washed out, without color and looks horrible!!! I don't know if my photo files are corrupted or ? If I open the image in Photoshop or Bridge it looks fine. I would be grateful for any suggestions or explanation. Things were working just fine, but not now.

Examining the image direct from the camera of the child on the beach, using http://regex.info/exif.cgi  there is a small embedded thumbnail (with black bars top-and-bottom to letterbox it to the LCD aspect ratio), and a small preview probably used for zooming in on the camera LCD screen, and the fullsize jpg image all contained in the one JPG file.  All three of these seem to have identical histograms other than the black-bars causing a dark peak on the thumbnail image, but otherwise the shapes of the histograms and the position of the peaks from light to dark are the same.
In other words the full-size JPG and the embedded preview and thumbnail all seem the same other than size so the darkened version seen in Finder is not coming from the camera.  The one issue the above website reports is that the camera JPG has a color-profile tag (name of the profile) but does not actually contain the color profile, itself.  All other versions of the image have an actual embedded profile not just the name in a tag.  It is possible that this is confusing Finder into assuming a different profile or gamma curve for the image that sRGB warrants, but most all camera images have this issue so I wouldn't expect a Mac to show images from all cameras as too dark.
It is a mystery to me why the Finder preview looks darker, but at least in the one side-by-side provided, it does, and is different-looking than all other representations of the image from what I can see.
At the beginning of this thread you said you were worried the photos coming out of Photoshop were washed out and had bad colors.  From my perspective, what comes out of Photoshop looks the same as what comes out of the camera, so only Finder has it wrong.  Are you seeing the darker image anywhere else besides Finder (and perhaps iPhoto which we don't have a screenshot of)?
Most importantly does the image you see on screen in Photoshop, while you're making adjustments, look dark like the pre-PS Finder thumbnail or does it look lighter, like the post-PS Finder thumbnail and all the images on DropBox?
If more than just the pre-PS Finder thumbnail is darker then you may have a monitor calibration issue that needs to be addressed, otherwise just ignore the pre-PS Finder thumbnail when evaluating if the image needs any adjustments and assume they are all ligher than the Finder image.
BTW, I tested for a sRGB vs AdobeRGB mismatch, and if an sRGB image is assigned an Adobe profile then the colors become more intense but the whole image does not become darker so that can't explain what is happening.

  • Has anyone else noticed that colors are washed out on screen on the white iPhone?

Comparing the white and black iPhone 4 side by side, I noticed that colors on the screen are washed out on the white iPhone. This is clearly noticable when clicking on messages and looking at the top where the word messages appears in blue/gray color. When looking at this on the white iPhone, its more white than blue/gray.

It could be just the contrast in color with your eyes looking at the white iphone vs the black one. Your eyes can sometimes play tricks on you. But in all seriousness, iPhone screens vary in color temperatures. I have seen two black iphones 4s that looked like they had different displays in them.

  • Contact sheet images are grayed out

I have made an album of black and white images and want to print them as a series of contact sheets. The sheets look good when customized, but when I tell it to print, all but the first two of the previewed images are grayed out and not worth printing. Is this an iPhoto or a printer problem or something I'm missing? The images were converted from B&W film negatives. This happens whether using the Macbook Pro or the Macbook.

what color profile do they have? If it is gray scale it will not work - they must have sRGB as the color profile for use with iPhoto (they will still display and print black and white)

  • With PSE 8, my Epson 2200prints are washed out.

I get crisp prints on my Epson 2200 with PSE3 but they are washed out under PSE8 as if the quality was set to draft (which it isn't). How do I correct the problem while preserving the quality under PSE3?

A similar issue came up on this, or another, forum, recently.
In the Editor, go to Edit>Color Space. The recommendation was to select sRGB color space, as I recall.
Another issue is that printing from the Organizer is generally sub-optimal
I assume that the printer settings have remained constant since you used PSEv.3

  • Why are my images so washed out in pages compared to how they look in Photoshop?

I am new to Pages. I have some beautiful .jpeg CMYK files I am importing into a Pages template, and they look completely washed out in pages compared to how they look in Photoshop. Is this just a preview mode or will they look this bad if I print the file at a print on demand site like HP Magcloud?
    Thanks!
    O

    Hmmmmm...
Well, I'm not sure about what my color management is set to in photoshop, but its color LCD for the mac in system preferences. As the printer is a print on demand site its not so easy to run tests. The thing is, they want the images as a PDF, but I am loosing quality pringing it into pages, would it be different if i created the PDF directly from photoshop (is that even possible?)
    paper options are:
60#, 80# or 100# matte text stock options with Saddle Stitch Binding
80# premium cover stock, 80# matte text stock with Perfect Binding
    the site says this:
If you are creating your PDF in a different program like Microsoft Word or Publisher, or Apple Pages, you’ll want to save your images based on whether they were CMYK or RGB to begin with. If they were CMYK to begin with, they should be saved as CMYK. If they were RGB to begin with, saving them with an sRGB colorspace will give you the best output.
I already changed them in photoshop from RGB to CMYK, is it too late to change back? where is the sRGB option anyway?
    Thanks,

  • Jpg Previews/Thumbnails are washed out

My jpg thumbnails and previews look washed out in the folders of Windows explorer, but are correct and vivid when I open them in Photoshop. This only happens with files I edit, and has started since updating to the Creative Cloud CS6. How can I get the thumbnails to match - I am concerned about client impressions when seeing them on their systems. I have checked all of the export and color settings I can think of, but can't seem to get them accurate. Any help would be appreciated!

It's clear that your intent is to save the images with the Adobe RGB profile, and that's perfectly reasonable (and it sounds as though you understand what that can mean to the recipients) but you should double check as changing to a new version of Photoshop will necessarily have meant that you should revisit all your settings.  Double check that when you're saving your image from Photoshop the ICC Profile box is indeed checked.
I don't believe the installation of Photoshop should change the way thumbnails are handled in Explorer as Adobe doesn't provide any codecs, but it might possibly have something to do with a setting in your File Handling preferences...  Try changing your File Saving options to never save Image Previews.  I've never quite figured out what that setting means in the Windows environment for most file types, but I have completely disabled it and everything works for me.  It's kind of a shot in the dark, but disabling that setting might trigger Windows Explorer to generate the thumbnails itself, and as far as I know that process IS color-managed.
If you'd like to post one of the images here, I can check that the image is properly tagged with the Adobe RGB profile, though you can certainly check that yourself as well.
It does open up in every jpg viewing program looking the way it should.
Oh, and just to clarify a minor point you made, not every viewing program out there is color-managed.  It is possible you may personally find those that are not doing color-management at all to seem to be functioning correctly with your Adobe RGB images because you have a monitor with a gamut similar to Adobe RGB.  The level of implementation of color-management amongst various Windows application is all over the map.  I do know that the Windows 7 Photo Viewer is color-managed as long as you run it in a Window.

  • Photos sent through ePrint are washed out - Help

I just ran a test sending 3 photos from my ipad via email to my HP Envy 100 e-Printer and they all appeared washed out. I then sent the same 3 photos directly to the HP Envy 100 e-Printer using the HP iPrint app and they were nice and brilliant -- confirming that the HPePrint Server is degrading the quality of photos.
Does anybody have any guidance on how to prepare photos that will be sent through the HPePrint Server so that they will be printed by the e-printer acceptably???

    Hi slimmerjim,
    Thank you for your feedback.
There will be some degradetion print quality if you compare between ePrint and HP iPrint. ePrint is transfer the data through the Internet so the photos are printed in normal mode as compare to HP iPrint which sends the data through wireless network which are printed in best mode.
HP is aware of this issue and we are looking to improving this.
    Thank you.

  • Pdfs are washed out

i have generated a pdf, and just recently the colors seem to be muted.  it prints fine but the pdf is washed out to the level its hard to read.

It may vary. I have seen some strange results from OFFICE 2007, where there apparently are some hooks built into the MS software. You might try with OFFICE 2003 or OpenOffice. I have used OFFICE 2003 for some things and gotten excellent results, where OFFICE 2007 created issues. I know that it is OFFICE 2007 since I also played with different versions of Acrobat for Office 2007 and got the same strange results, where things were fine with OFFICE 2003. There may be an issue with the
I just created a new PDF from PPT 2007 and the results were looking fine. For folks to be able to comment more effectively, they need to be able to duplicate what you did and I am not sure that can be done with the information you have provided. Specifically, what job settings file did you use in the Adobe PDF printer, etc.

  • Exporting Canon 5D footage - colours are washed out

Hi, I am a film student. It seems everyone but me cuts in Apple Final Cut Pro but I can't get my head around Apple as a whole and much prefer Premiere Pro. I working in CS5.5 Here is my current problem. I have the job of synching audio and video from a film shoot. The vision was shot on Canon 5D Mark II and the audio is .wav format, which was recorded on an external recorder. I need to replace the camera audio with the cleaner and more professional .wav files, and then I have to give the synched footage to another student who will edit on Final Cut Pro.  The clips are 1920 x 1080 (1.0) 23.976 fps. The clips i have received are .mov. My project settings match perfectly the footage settings. I have now tried exporting in 15 different formats, and in every single case, the colour of the exported files is very washed out compared with the original .mov file. If I give this to the editor to work with, I'll be shot I'm sure, for being so recalcitrant. It needs to be lossless and full quality. So please someone - urgently - can you help me?  I only have tomorrow to finish this and there are around 80 shots I need to synch and export in that time. Thanks,  Nicky

    1. If you're using Internet Explorer, set it to 'Compatibility View' so as to be able to upload images.
    2. So as to judge on colour shift you need at least to compare like with like. It's not clear from your screenshot how and where you watch your original footage. Is it also Windows Media Player or another player on your computer?
Also H.264 is a highly compressed 8-bit delivery codec, with which you can experience quite visible quality loss over every next encoding (generation loss). Production codecs, like mentioned above UT Video or DNxHD, let you avoid dramatic generation loss, preserving visual quality.
    3. When you encode to DNxHD 4:2:2 (that's what you were doing), set Color Levels to 'RGB Levels':
Set Color Levels to '709' when you encode to DNxHD 4:4:4
DO NOT interfere with the Depth settings when encoding to DNxHD and generally avoid using 'Maximum Render Quality'.
    4. Since you wisely cropped the left part of the Export Setting dialog box, it's unclear whether you see video output on exporting or not.
    5. With high probability Windows Media Player won't be able to play MOV files with DNxHD codec inside. You need to play them back in QuirkTime, which, in turn, applies crooked colour management. You need to disable it. If you're on a PC with NVIDIA card, open up NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Video -> Adjust video color settings and in the How do you make color adjustments? section choose 'With the NVIDIA settings'.

  • Images appear washed out.

Firefox isn't displaying images correctly. They are appearing extremely washed out. These images are local to my computer and ImageMagic & GIMP can display them properly.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.<br />
Try to disable color management to test if it is caused by a problem with color management.<br />
You can set the gfx.color_management.mode pref to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

  • Photoshop CS3, wanting to batch re-size JPGs, going: file-scripts-image processor, the batch images are greyed out can't be highlighted

Hi - I am trying to batch re-size JPGs in CS3.  I go: file-scripts-image processor and select a batch of JPGs but these are greyed out and can't be highlighted, therefore can't be re-sized. This function worked in the past and suddenly does not. Reading forums on this topic I find I should remove/trash 'Photoshop Preferences'. But I am struggling to find Photoshop Preferences. Really would appreciate simple instructions written for the layman not a computer savvy individual, on how/where to locate these, please. Many thanks.

    A few things to try.
1)Since jpg's are finiky with bit modes, make sure your mode is in 8-bits per channel only. (found in the image>mode menu)
2)you could try resetting the preferences by using the 3 modifier keys at startup. ctrl-alt-shift(windows) cmd-opt-shift(mac) Hold these three keys down when you start photoshop if done right when photoshop starts you should get a dialog box asking if you want to reset the preferences)
3)If these do not help specify the version of photoshop, what OS you have and its version. Then someone can tell you the location of the preference files since it is different on windows vs. a mac.

  • I am finding flash pictures on my 4s are washed out. What am I doing wrong?

Why can't I take flash photos without finding washed out?

Check to see that your rear camera and flash are not being obstructed by your case, and that there is not protective shipping film over it that needs to be removed.

Have an A3 Photosmart 8700 printer which has for no reason started to print in muted / knocked back colour and a solid black is now printing out as a washed out grey.
