Just upgraded to iTunes 10.5.3 and cannot sync my iPhone 4s

All the other features of iTunes seems to work but all I get is the spinning beach ball when I try to sync my iPhone 4s . I'm running an iMac with the latest version of Lion. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution?

I spent almost 2hours today on the phone with apple support and didn't get it resolved. All of my devices, iPad, iPhone,iPod , all cause iTunes to lock up when connected. One thing that support had me do was to create another user, log in as the new user and then open iTunes and connect a device. ITunes worked like it should, which shows that the app is ok. Next step is to get rid of saved syncing info in original user.  This involves going into terminal as super user and giving this command /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsyn c.pl full
I had an advisor who didn't know how to get terminal back to super user mode and when I followed his instructions, nothing happened.  Normally, when you go into terminal, you would be in su, but I had used terminal to search for something and was not in root directory. I have since spoke to my son, who is a computer tech and he told me to type SU followed by a space and then the command that apple tech gave me. That should reset the sync file. According to apple, it will not affect contents in iTunes library, but will have to resync all devices.  I will try this when I get home from work tonite. If it works, I will report back.  Otherwise, Apple support is suppose to get back to me wih more info in about 4 days.

  • Wife upgraded to iTunes 10.1.2 and cannot sync iDevices, even on iPhoto.

    Hi there,
My wife just upgraded her Itunes to 10.1.2 on her white iMac running Snow Leopard to latest upgrades.
Then she tried to sync her iPhone and iPad and it stalls while syncing Calendar.
Not sure if its ut the iTunes issue since she also synced her iPhone through iPhoto to see if she can extract but cannot...it basically has the rainbow balloon cursor.
I plugged her phone into my MacbookPro and was able to backup her photos onto my iPhoto.
Are there ways to fix these syncing issues on my wife's computer? Please advise, many thanks!!

  • I've just upgraded to Iphoto v9.4.1 and cannot import photos from my hard drive

I've just upgraded to Iphoto v9.4.1 and cannot import photos from my hard drive. no matter what method I use, either click and drag or through the File menu. All I get is a message 'Preparing to import' - file size is less than 300 kb

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Why am I now receiving the error 42404: a required iTunes component is not installed after the 10.5.3 iTunes update? Now, I cannot sync my iphone...I have uninstalled and re-installed several times now without any luck.
    Thanks,

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • I just upgraded to iTunes 10.6.1 and now my library is not loaded, how do I get it back?

I upgraded to iTunes 10.6.1 overnight and when I start it now
there is no media loaded, no songs, no films and no TV Shows.
I have tried starting using the shift key to point iTunes back to my library location,
    but still no luck.
    Has anyone got any ideas??

So, I have managed to fix the problem.
I found that the upgrade had replaced my library files with empty ones.
So I restored the backup I made of them before the upgrade and
now all my media is back.
    Great..
For those who run across this therad and haven't taken the effort to make a backup here is another approach that should work.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Just received my new iphone 4S, upgraded my itunes on my Dell and the sync keeps locking up and not syncing.

cant get my new iphone 4S to sync with my computer.  I already downloaded the new itunes on my computer and still it just locks it up.

Restore the phone as New, and do not reload your backup. If you still have a problem with it you have a hardware problem.

  • Just upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1 and some artwork is not displaying

OK iTunes 10.0.1 IS NOT better than iTunes 10.0.0. The artwork for some songs/albums is there as seen in Get Info, but it is not displaying specifically in the Album column of the list/thumbnail combo display. The artwork does display in the thumbnail only display. When I add new artwork, it still will not display.
    Thanks!
If anyone knows how to fix this, that would be great.

After continual hangs on iTunes Match Step 3 (crashing iTunes, etc.) I was finally able to get iTunes Match to complete late last night. iTunes 10.5.1 is working normally again as well.
I added two columns to my iTunes library, "iCloud Download" and "iCloud Status".  iTunes > View > View Options > check both items.  This allowed me to see exactly what was matched, uploaded, waiting, etc.
After reviewing all of my songs I found that there were about 40 that displayed "Waiting".  No matter how many times I force-quit iTunes and tried to get iTunes Match to complete, those last songs in the wait-state would not budge.  I finally deleted all of them (they were odd, non-mainstream songs and albums that I can live without plus I still have the original CD's).
Once I deleted the the "Waiting" songs iTunes Match finished instantly.
I'm not sure why those particular songs were causing trouble, but I was glad that it was finally able to finish.  I eneded up missing a lot of cover art and also resolved that.  More here...

So I've tested iTunes Match on my iPad, my Apple TV2, etc. and it seems to be working okay now...but what a nightmare it was to get there!.  iTunes is once again behaving normally in both regular and full-screen mode.  This was not a good Apple-like experience.

  • Cannot upgrade iTunes to 11.2.2 and cannot sync my iPhone 4 without iTunes upgrade?

I can't sync my iPhone 4 to my MacBook anymore.  I get an iTunes message that I need to upgrade but my system check says I have all the upgrades.  I tried to download iTunes 11.2.2 but my Mac can't handle it (OS X 10.5.8).  Am I stuck in a 'Catch 22' here?  Is this related to upgrading the phone to 7?

The issue is your Mac's version of OS X is too old.  (Thank you for posting it!).
The current version of iTunes (11.2.2) requires at least OS X 10.6.8 to run.  (The current version of OS X is 10.9.3.).
If your Mac is too old, you may have an issue.  You might consider upgrading your Mac if you can.  At a minimum, you would need to purchase Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6, sold below), and then update it to OS X 10.6.8.

Try holding down CTRL as you launch iTunes to see if it will repair the drivers.
    Or try Cerbu's post here.
Or see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, forcing a driver update.
Please let us know which approach works for you...

  • I have just upgraded my iPad2 to iOS.5 and cannot access iBooks?

I think I missed something. Up uploaded 10s.5 onto iPad2 and cannot access the iBooks where I have puchsed books and other items that I have down loaded? Can anybody explain what I have done wrong?

Before you did the update did you copy your purchases (apps, books, music etc) from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases ? If not then you can re-download books, apps, and if you are in the US music and TV shows, for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 - as long as they are still available in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them.
If you download the apps onto your computer's iTunes you could then try restoring to the backup made during the update and see if that restores the apps and their content to the iPad

  • I have 2 computers with my itunes account on it and i synced my iphone to my laptop and it deleted one of my playlists. Only 1 computer has that playlist on it and the USB ports dont work. How do I get the playlist back?

i need help downloading a playlist without connecting my Iphone 4S to my computer. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????

I haven't tried this myself, but you could probably use Home Sharing to copy your playlist to your other computer.  First set up home sharing on both computers (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4620), then on the computer with the playlist go to iTunes>Preferences>Sharing and choose share selected playlists, checking the playlist that you are trying to recover.  Then on the computer without the playlist, create a new playlist with the same name, then drag and drop the songs from the other computer into the playlist you just created.

  • I synced my phone to my desktop originally and have since purchased a laptop and cannot sync my iPhone to the laptop because it was previously synced to the desktop. Can I "un-sync" my iPhone from my desktop?

    I need help!!

    Try doing this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
If that works, then it was a software issue adn they were right.
If it doesn't, then it's a hardware issue and you will need to get a repair/replacement. If you are in warranty and have no accidental/liquid damage on the device it will be free.
