Just upgraded to RR lightning (40 down / 5 up) and now router slows to almost stop!

Hello all,
I have a linksys router that after I connect my new RR lightning modem (40/5) my internet goes up and down. Even getting to the router's web based GUI is taking about 30-60 seconds to load 1 page! It ran great for about 3 hours on the Roadrunner lightning modem (bridged modem..all extras are turned off by Brighthouse).
Router: WRT54Gv1 upgraded firmware last night.(bought new 6-8 months ago)
I have port forwarding to a 192.168.1.10 addy with DMZ added. (Gaming server) WIRED CONNECTION and NOT running anythin crazy.
Modem: SMCD3GN (Brighthouse Road Runner)
As soon as I switched from my old modem to this new one..my router troubles started. Ran server for over 3 years with old modem and older Linksys router perfect, so naturally I purchased another of the same brand thinking I was safe.
Tried MTU settings...down to 1350
Turned off PnPU
Upgraded Firmware
Reset defaults..
same ...same...
Even installed a brand new NIC card in the server... If I direct connect to modem...FULL SPEED AHEAD..
I'm gonna jump ship from Linksys if I cannot get my network router to work. It's almost as if some sort of memory gets full fast (in the router) because of the new speeds.
I am open to suggestions and recommendations for a new router if needed (preferrably from a different company).

I have an identical issue with my WRT320N so it might be a wierd with the Linksys router and my RR modem.  I have RR wideband and i get 50 down / 5 up.  Everyday I have to reset the router because eventually after a few hours of use, speed goes down to 20 down / 5 up.  I reset the router by unplugging it and plugging it back in and I get my 50 down again.  I hope Linksys figures out what the issue is.  I hate having to reset the **bleep** thing every day.
