Just used iMovie HD for first time on mac pro

ugh! locked up first time loading. very sluggish camera controls. will research this on the iMovie forum as well, but has anyone experienced this here? almost as if it were not universal.

I have been using it with no problem. Maybe it is related to the camera you are using as opposed to the program itself. I have a Canon Optura.

3GB for a movie? That's almost equivalent to an original DVD.
Have you checked in the Recently Added playlist?
I think this is possibly linear. Select 'normal' in HB, iTunes accepts it; select 'high quality' in HB iTunes doesn't. I can't say why; I don't have any video that anywhere approaches 3GB in size. If that's how iTunes behaves I don't see you have too many options. You either select normal and it works, or you select HQ and live with playing the movie outside of iTunes.
I won't ask what movie because any help with illegally ripped copy protected DVDs is strictly prohibited by the Terms of Use so I'm assuming this is a 6 hour video of your puppy playing on the floor.

Did you look to see if there is debris or dust causing the problem? Get a flashlight and take a look to make sure.
Is there something in the USB end of the cord perhaps?
You didn't answer this question ....Are you using the charger and cord that came with your iPad?
You could try changing cords if you have another one available to see if it is the cord. Have you tried connecting to your computer to see if you get the same message?
You could try a hard reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. Then try the charger again.

New P-book: OK to use while charging for first time?

No, this will not do any damage. The thing you should do though is after that first charge is complete, go ahead and drain down to zero percent, so that it will be calibrated.
People who leave the battery charged in all the time while using the computer, do not have the battery go bad because they are using it plugged in. The reason it goes bad in that situation is because they aren't keeping the juices flowing in the battery! They don't take it off the A/C, the chemicals don't keep moving, so that shortens the life. That is why you should use a portable, not connected to A/C at least one or two times per week to at least 70 percent (use 25 to 30 percent of battery) or so.
However, the actual using of the machine while connected to A/c is no problem. Just be sure to regularly use it via battery too, to keep the chemicals moving.

Error occurred when attempting to change modules in LR - just purchased and opened for first time

I just purchased and downloaded the monthly subscription to LR 5 on my new iMac. When I open LR it displays an error message that says "An error occurred when attempting to change modules." I cannot import anything. I'm stuck and very frustrated. I just paid for this monthly service and am stuck for a year. Please help me troubleshoot this problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times as well as restarted my iMac.

Cannot override codebase to use local files for first time installation.

I have an application that is installed via a JNLP link. The application is about 200MB and we use a web start so that each time the application starts it checks for updates in the configuration and downloads them if necessary.
I have a requirement to provide an offline installation on CD as some of our users have very slow connection speeds and it's taking over an hour to download the binaries.
I am trying to do the install using the command line javaws -import -codebase <linktolocaldir> <linktojnlp>
I need to use the jnlp on the sever so that the configuration files are checked and downloaded each time it starts.
However the local codebase is never used - the dialog always says that it is downloading from the server, I can only get it to install from the local drive if I change the path directly in the JNLP (which is no good as I need to keep this path pointing to the server)
Is there any other way to override the codebase for the initial installation?
Any help much appreciated.

Using my hotspot for first time and when configuring devise it asked for MAC address

I dont have a MAC. I want to use this on a Mini laptop. I am adding my first device. I live in the country and dont think any one elses computer will hook to this hotspot. . I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and need for this too work.

Personally, I use the MAC filter. Go into network on your mini and you can find that devices MAC address.
MAC address has nothing to do with Apple.

What do you mean they do not play on your Shuffle? You may need to change playlists in order to hear your podcasts. See page 25 of your iPod's User Guide for more information.

This could be a effect of some earlier exception. Can you look through the log to see if other exceptions are thrown.
You might also want to search AgentProfileFormHandler in your log to see if an exception is thrown while initializing the component

Beginner -can't sign into itunes for first time on Mac.

Hi, I've registered my Apple ID but every time I try to sign in to itunes on my mac book, it says it's the 1st time it's been used and takes me to the payment option page, I don't want to put any payment options in, but can't see any other options, if I cancel , it won't sign me in to my itunes account, so I'm stuck in a vicious circle.

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, sign-in and see if it is working now.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

HT204380 help. tried for first time to use FaceTime with another iPhone user & it would not work. "FaceTime failed". we are both on wi-fi networks & iTunes accounts are set up correctly.

Call would dial, allow us to accept call, then error message "FaceTime failed" would appear & call disconnect. we are both on wi-fi networks, both phones have updated software & both enabled FaceTime with iTunes logged in. don't know what else to do to get FaceTime to connect. Someone please help.

Thanks Helen for the response. At least you can get some of the contacts to work. Absolutely none of mine will. Feel like my phone is cheating me out something it should do. Think I'm going to just have to dump all the Apple products in general because this phone hasn't worked right since I got it.

Computer keeps Configuring and setting up for first time use

I have a toshiba A505-S6980 that has been working fine for a couple years. Recently I had performance issues and suspected virus, spyware so I did a recovery with the original discs I made when I first got the computer. Four of the six discs reloaded fine. It did not ask for the last two discs "Environment 64 bit and Applications and Drives. I also have a System Repair disc. After loading the four recovery discs the computer now keeps recycling between preparing for first time use, configuring system, reboot and then back to preparing for first time use,etc. I think I'm close to getting this, but need a last bit of help.

It's been a couple days since you posted this problem. Did you get anywhere, or are you still stuck in that loop? If it's still stuck, you may just want to perform the recovery again.

X230 - Setup Is Preparing Your Computer For First Time Use

Dear all,
I just received my X230 bought on Ebay and as I first turned on the computer, Windows was frozen and showed "Setup Is Preparing Your Computer For First Time Use" for hours (I guess its a whole day). Since I do not have any recovery media provided, does anyone has alternative solution?

Thanks! It took me a whole day to figure out what happened and I ended up format the whole drive and reinstall the windows. Yes, you are right, X230 is a good machine and acutally I was thinking to puchase X240 since there is kind of back to school program that you can purchase X240 at a deep discount price. After so many bad comments I chose X230 instead for:
1. Physical Trackpad button (which is extremely important as I ONLY use trackpoint)
2. 2 ram slots
3. normal voltage CPU
I am surfing the net with X230 and I am so happy I bought this.

Just hooked up new apple tv for first time. able to connect to internet (netflix, youtube) but not able to connect to my itunes account via home sharing. apple tv tells me to make sure computer's itunes has home-sharing enabled, which it does. any advice?

Have done both suggestions, still not working. Could it have somehting to do with my local network? I am using a wireless Internet provided by my apartment building so not sure if apple tv and my computer are not technically on the same "local network?"
apple tv and main computer are connecting to Internet fine. Just cannot see my itunes on apple tv.
any other advice? My itunes is turned on to home sharing. i entered the same apple itunes account into aple tv. but appletv keeps saying my computer's home sharing is not turned on...but it is.
