Just went through setup assistance to unlock i phone 4 but it is not unlocked

just went through the whole setup of unlocking my iphone 4 through network 3. Then onto itunes, throught the whole setup assistace. However phone is still not unlocked. Phone is wanting to be unlocked on giff gaff/ 02.

it's unclear what you mean
you say unlocked throught 3
and it's locked to o2
only the carrier it's locked to can unlock it so if it's locked to o2 they have to unlock it 3 can't

Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.

  • My iPod 5th gen touch went through the washing machine. It still works but it has water in the screen and I can't get it out. I put it in uncooked rice for a day but it didn't work. And suggestions??

Leave it in the rice for at least a day and change the rice every other day or so. The rice and iPod should be in a sealed container.

  • TS1702 I have an iPad 1. I went to do an update on GarageBand and iBooks but it will not update. How do I return it to the original version?

I have an iPad 1. I went to do an update on GarageBand and iBooks but it will not update. How do I return it to the original version?

Well, to paraphrase the old line, "What're you gonna believe, that email or your own lying eyes?"
The first thing I'd recommend trying is to power down your iPad (press & hold Sleep/Wake until the red OFF slider appears, then slide it to shut down), and then boot it back up and try again. You're resetting a bunch of state signals by doing that and this simple action (the first of a series recommended by Apple in your Users Guide) will quite often clear up these sorts of problems.

  • Just went through itunes doodoo loop! Any advice?

... on how to prevent this in the future? First got the message itunes (on Windows 7) could not read my iphone 4S (so how was it able to identify my phone by name????) & I should restore. I used the technique with iFunBox suggested on the iphone forum. Then itunes said my backup was corrupted and I needed to delete the last backup - which I did. Then I created a manual backup. Then decided I wanted to create an encryted backup to save accounts and passwords. When I reconnected the phone, itunes said it could not read my phone ... and the process was repeated.
Everything seemed to work the final time when I first cleaned out the control, CDB, and prefs files on the iphone using iFunBox. Then, with the phone disconnected from the computer, deleted all backups. Then connected phone and iTunes went to completion without error messages. Now, I have NO TRUST that itunes saved a valid usable backup.
Any suggestions on a way to ensure long-term data integrity? Am considering just using iFunBox to manage the phone. Years ago, I had an ipod and stopped using it because itunes was so flakey. If there is no reasonable secure solution with an iphone, then Samsung, here I come!

Both the iTunes backup problem and the cover art problem (https://discussions.apple.com/message/23266427#23266427) were fixed by reinstalling iTunes. That was not as simple as it sounds, under the circumstances.
I tried using iCloud to backup since iTunes didn't work. I tried to backup the very minimum - just contacts and Safari bookmarks (Supposedly iCloud automatically backs up primary info for apps & the rest of my data is on google). iCloud kept giving longer and longer estimated times as the backup progressed. After over 7 hours (overnight), it estimated 7 hours remained, so I killed the backup.
Since my biggest concern was my addressbook and many changes since my last backup, I downloaded the iPhone app "ExcelContacts" and backed them up to Excel (it puts a file in the FileShare under ExcelContacts - you have to pull it across to the PC using iFunBox, etc). (When I started another iCloud backup late the next day, it completed successfully in one hour and 15 minutes.)
Apple describes how to consolidate files (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751) - I had already done this when I first installed iTunes. However, with everything else going on, I did not trust the process and made 2 separate backups of all my iTunes media files. I then followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
Until this point, my external CD drive had worked fine. However, in the uninstall & reinstall process, there was a registry error (Code 19) and the system could no longer recognize the CD drive. MS fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060) for XP works for Vista and Windows 7, as well. I then had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes again so it could see the CD drive.
After all of this, iTunes successfully sync'd with my phone and completed a successful backup. From now on, I think I'll continue to use a third-party app (I see an advantage to one that sends a file via email instead of  app FileShare) instead of porting through iTunes or in iCloud.

  • Went through setup for DVD PRO still not working

So I have done what are the protocalls that are appropriate for DVD PRO and the problem now is that I cannot drag my compressor file into DVD PRO.
It just bounces back to Finder or where ever else I find it. I give up don't know what to do now I am stuck. Thanks for everyones help. Also I still get the
incompatible format pop up-I am totally against a wall-do not know what to do at all.

I captured from mini-dv tape so I used dv 48khz or dv ntsc for my setup codec. I used send to in FCP to compressor. I used best quality DVD 90 minutes in Compressor. I am working with NTSC. I imported my compressed project clicking on asset. When I did this I get a box that pops up and says incompatible format.
Problem is I have no idea how to get a compatible format or what they are talking about since I followed the
correct protocol or at least it seemed correct to me. I know it is something I am missing-I just do not have the
knowledge to trouble shoot this particular problem. So that is where it stands of this moment.

  • I just went through the "Gee my entire MAX config/database has dissapeared" process again with a customer and want to ask...

How do you guys keep customers out of MAX? (with systems that require its install)
In my experience I;ve even causeed this problem just by opening MAX, and forgetting that it's open before the machine either loses power or gets shutdown improperly...  sometimes you get the error telling you its corrupted (there's loads of posts about that, with a KB article walkthrough too) but other times I've found the VISA network connection totally vanished with no sign of ever existing... then to be stuck trying to walk someone through a manual reconfig or loading a nce file...
Is there something we can do to prevent this issue?
Is it arrogant to ask why this database corruption seems to happen fairly often even with new versions of MAX?
    thx
    -pat

At least the fix is muc better now than it used to be. NI now has it integrated into max to clea the database and rebuild it. This used to be a seperate macro that had to be found first and then run and didn't always fix the problem. With the latest revs of MAX it is much better and easier to find in the pull down menu instead of a web search on NI site.

  • Help!  My iPhone just went through the washing machine!

I am at a complete loss... I don't know what to do other than get a new iPhone - it won't turn on... I'm trying to dry it out...

Whatever you do, do not power it on while it remains wet.
It must dry out naturally which can take a while - days or weeks and that includes placing the iPhone in a bag of uncooked rice or in a bag of silica gel packets during that time. Even with that, if the iPhone was powered on while being submerged in water, as you know moisture and electronics don't mix especially when completely submerged.

  • My screen just went black! It's still on and working, but no buttons work!

I was listening to music while my phone was locked and continually pressed the home button (every couple of minutes or so) just to change the song, but never unlocked it. Then, it stopped letting me press the home button to view the screen. Now, the screen is totally black and nothing happens if i press the home button or any button at all. It's still on because i still hear the noise when people text or call me, but still the same black screen. I've tried charging it through the wall charger and even hooked it up to my computer, but still nothing. What can I do to fix this?

    Hi kb89,
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until you see an Apple on the screen, as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

  • My Macbookpro will not start up.  At first it was showing a gray screen with a flashing folder and question mark.  I went through the steps to repair with disc utility and this did not work.  How do I back up my data, without time machine activated?

I need to back up my files and date before erasing my drive, but my time machine backup is not coming up.  How do I access my hard drive to back up my files?

A erase of the drive or boot partition is not always necessary.
Flashing question mark at boot could be a easy fix, sometimes it's the firmware that simply forgot what bootable volume to boot from.
Try holding the Option key down while booting the machine, a choice of bootable options appears, select your OS X and boot up.
When you get in, head to System Preferences > Startup disk and set it again new. This will tell the firmware what to boot from. Test it to see.
Now if you don't have a selection of bootable options, it could be that the drive is dead, or OS X is erased or corrupted so it can't boot.
You'll have to run through this list of fixes to see what's going on, if you need a hardware fix or what, I've also included links if you can't fix it and need to recover your data etc.
(If it's not remmebering your boot selection then also run through the list to reset things.)

  • HT4236 When I am trying to delete albums from my phone, I went through all of the steps on this page but the pics were only deleted from my pc not my phone. Can anyone explain this to me I am trying to delete from my phone.

I need to delete the photo album on my iphone 4, I went though all of the steps on the support page but the only place the pics were deleted were on my pc not my phone. When I selected selected alnums, it only gave the options of albums on my pc. it did not list the albums on my phone. These albums have completly used up all of my storage. Please help. If you know how to help me you can email me directly to [email protected] Thank you.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

I Just put an itunes card in and will not download songs and it says unable to download

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:
