Just wondering........ Verizon Centro syncing w a Mac
I am due for a new phone, from Verizon. I like the Centro, and I have been looking at many articles & forums online. Here is my concern. Can you sync Apple Addressbook & iCal, with Centro via USB without having to buy a 3rd party software? If that does not work can you sync it with Palm desktop?
This is my computer configuration: eMac 800MHz PowerPC G4, USB 1.0, Max OS 10.4.11
It seems to me Verizon is difficult to make work with a Mac in general, and I do not want to order the phone, just to find out that it does not work. I am not planning to use any wireless service with my Centro, but I keep my workschedule (changes every week) and of course contacts on my phone & would like the possibility to syncing those functions to my computer.
Let me also add that I am not a computer whiz, so any explanation in laymen terms would be appreciated.

I received my Centro and have played around with it for a few days. HotSync works well with iSync. I used the instructions in this document to set it up.

Since I do not have a dedicated USB port for the HotSync cable, I just have to open up HotSync (on the Mac) and enable it before I press the HotSync button on the cable. That took a few tries before I realized that, but now it works OK.
Now all I have to do is getting all my info organized and gather it all in one place; never realized how many different addressbooks & calendars I was using for different stuff. I am getting it all in Address Book & iCal. That will streamline things. I am using Plaxo to sync my Address Book w my Yahoo contacts, but that does not work with Yahoo calendar, so I tried FuseCal, and that does not work either with Yahoo calendar. It just seems that Yahoo calendar is just not going to work unless you have Mac OS10.5.

I currently am running 10.5.8 and I need to update to atleast 10.6.8. Just wondering if I need to purchase it from apple or if there is an easy/free way to update it.

Ringer volume not in sync with messaging or other alert volume - Verizon Centro
Hello and I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum or has been discussed before.
I have the Verizon Centro and have found that when I adjust the ringer volume using the side keys, the text message and any other alert volume stays at whatever I set it at earlier. So if I had previously set it at 7, I can put the ringer at 1 and the message alert is stuck at 7. I would really like to have these both sync with the side keys. Is this possible?

I just downloaded a new version of OS7 to my iphone and when I try to sync with my mac book pro it will not finish and just spins around at the last step. anyone help?
It was telling you that you needed Mac OS 10.6.8 or later, not itunes 10.6.8

just bought the iphone 5 and before syncing to my mac i took some photos then finally decided to sync it but it deleted ALL of the photos and videos and replaced them with the old pics i had on my iphone4.. i need those pics please help
Nope.
Did you fail to import them before restoring from backup? If so, then they are gone.
You should import all photos taken with the iphone to your comuter regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any update or restore. -
My Verizon Centro phone will not accept the Ford Sync (Microsoft Software for 2009 Escape) into its trusted list after I select Sync from the "devices" list and I enter the Sync-generated PIN and wait for a response.
The connection attempt stops after maybe 10 seconds and I get a message saying "cannot add device to trusted list."
Is this a universal incompatibility issue?
If not, is there software I need to add to my Centro to correct the problem?

I have been unable to hot-sync my Verizon Centro with my desktop computer for over 2 weeks. It will connect and start up normally, but then it gets hung up while doing the 2nd part of the datebook synchronization. After some time I have to cancel the operation. I have a third party application called Datebook Plus, which I have used for a long time with no problem. We also recently installed a McAfee Security suite on this computer. I even installed the Palm Desktop on my laptop computer and attempted to hot-sync the Centro with that, but it got hung up the same way. Help!

View Solution.Sounds like some database corruption on the Centro.
I'd suggest the oft-recommended fix here by using DBFixit from pimlicosoftware.com
It will search and correct many of the errors on your Palm device, but may require purchase to fix all of them.
The "sledgehammer" approach would be to Hard Reset the device (which will erase it), and rename your /Backup folder on your computer before doing your first Hotsync to the newly-erased phone.

There is an international warranty on the Mac, but not on the iPhone...iPhone warranties are tied to the country of purchase. Iphone 5s are currently only available in the US tied to a carrier, you cannot use another nano-sim card in them.

Just got girlfriend a new iPad2. Her iMac is a PowerPC G5 (Tiger version 10.4.11) with 512 mb RAM. What's the simplest, most efficient way to get her iPad2 up and running and synced to her Mac?
Most of the Apple store sales people and some of the genius bar people are only knowledgable on Apple's more recent offerings. They are not very knowledgable, I found, on older PowerPC based Apple computers, I'm afraid.
Here's the real scoop.
Your girlfriend's G5 can only install up to OS X 10.5 Leopard. This is the last compatible OS X version for PowerPC users.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and OS X10.7 Lion are for newer Intel CPU Apple computers.
Early iMac G5's can only have up to 2 GBs of RAM.
Later iMac G5's (2005-2006) could take up to 2.5 GBs of RAM
2 GBs of RAM will run OS X 10.5 Leopard just fine.
The very latest iTunes (10.5.2) can be installed and runs on both PowerPC and Intel CPU Macs.
However, there are certain new iTunes feature that won't work without an Intel Mac.
One of iOS and iTunes feature is sync'g wirelessly over WiFi.
This will not work unless you have an iDevice running iOS 5 and Intel Mac running 10.6 Snow Leopard or better.
Although, I was disappointed I would not be able to do this with my G4 Mac, it's not a biggie problem for me.
So, your girlfriend's computer should be fine for what she intends to use it for.
The Apple people either just plain didn't know or we're trying to get you to think about buying a new Mac.
At least, as of now, not truly necessary.
If Apple, at some later point, drops support for PowerPC users running 10.5, then would be the time to consider a new or "newer" Intel CPU Mac.
My planned Mac computer upgrade is seeking out a " newer" last version G5 for my "new" Mac.
I can't afford, right now, to replace all of my core PowerPC software with Intel versions, so I need to stick with the older PowerPC Macs for the time being. The last of the G5's is what I seek. -

The helpfulness of answers is limited by the details provided. Just saying it does not work, or I got an error does not provide much to go on. How is it not working? What happens or does not happen? Is an error returned? If so what error. Are you sure you are logging in with your home sharing ID? It is not the same as your Apple ID or iCloud ID.
