JVC AVX77 + iPhone 4 - Transferring Contacts...

Anyone else have both a JVC AVX77 car head unit and use an iPhone 4 with it?
I can't get my iPhone 4's contacts to transfer to the AVX77. Didn't have this problem with my Blackberry or my Galaxy S phone. Both phones did have an option in their contacts / phone books to transfer all contacts via bluetooth. Can't find a similar option in the iPhone.

I have had the head unit for a year now and can only remember successfully connecting a few times before the next iOS update killed it.  Aways getting restricted device now.  Used to be able to off/on the radio/iTouch a certain way to get about 90% functionality and 80% of the time.  Either artwork would not display or could not populate the playlist in the JVC's 3x2 menu display.  iPod uner head unit control.  Now, nothing.  BT does work on iOS 5 but track names are blank, however, can play/pause and track forward/reverse.
How many iOS updates is it going to take to fix this?  Was JVC negligent in implementing Apple's interface code correctly?  I find it suspicious that a cheap brand like iHome has all of these products that work flawlessly with all of the Apple mobile products and iOS versions.  It is about time this is fixed.  I spent over $600 for KD-AVX77 mainly for the advance iTouch/iPod/iPhone interface.  I have both iTouch gen 3 and 4.

  • Iphone 5 transferring contacts through BMW Bluetooth

My Iphone5 wont transfer contacts via bluetooth on a 2013 BMW x5.  Its works fine in a 2008 BMW..My Iphone4 works perfectly in the 2013.  Spoke to Apple they said it was BMW.  Met with the tech specialist at the BMW dealer, they said its Apple.  Any insight would be appreciated.

I had the same problem... The fix for my phone was 3rd party characters added into the contact names (i.e. emoji icons next to the contact name). I deleted all the emoji icons and rebooted the bluetooth connection and it worked fine.
    Hope this helps.

Can contacts in my iphone be transferred to my Macbook?

You should have been syncing them with your computer from day one.
They should live on your computer.  Your iphone just allows them to be protable.
Click Support at the top of this page, then click manuals.

Not possible, the current version of iTunes only allows syncing via iCloud which the 3G does not support.

  • Transferring contacts to iphone 4

How do you transfer sim card contacts from an old phone to i phone 4 when the sim card sizes are different?

Sync the contacts from the old phone to your computer by going to iTunes>>iPhone>>Info>>Sync contacts (merge)
Then do the same thing with the iPhone 4.

  • IPhone to Outlook Contacts Sync

Would love to be able to have my iPhone Contacts sync to Outlook contacts, NOT the other way around. [The first time I tried it, it wiped out my iPhone contacts and put the old Outlook ones back in.]
Now, I see some improvement in the updated versions of iTunes, but I simply have no idea what the WARNING Screen is trying to tell me -- something about more than 5% of the contacts will be changed, etc, etc...CHANGED WHERE? My iPhone or my Outlook?
It would be so much easier if we had a choice to sync Outlook to iPhone or iPhone to Outlook without wiping either database. Is that too difficult to do?
    Anyone have a solution? Thanks!

The sync process for contacts with the supported application on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process.
If the supported application on your computer has contact info and your iPhone doesn't, the contact info with the supported application on your computer will be transferred to your iPhone with the first sync and be kept synchronized afterwards with following syncs.
If the supported application on your computer does not include any contact info and your iPhone does, your iPhone will be erased of all contacts with the first sync.
If the supported application on your computer includes contact info and you have manually added contacts to your iPhone, you should be provided a merge prompt with the first sync, which should be selected. After the initial sync and merge, contacts will be kept synchronized with following syncs.
iTunes includes an option to replace contacts on your iPhone with the contacts in the supported application on your computer. After doing this, contacts will be kept synchronized with following syncs. There is no option to replace contacts in the supported application on your computer with your iPhone contacts.

  • Help, New iphone. Lost contacts!

Hi I would really appriciate some help. My Iphone 4 was broken, so before I took it to the apple store to get a new one I backed up my data and updates my phone on my girlfriends macbook pro. She also has an Iphone 4, which she regualarly updates. When I went to the apple store they replaced my Iphone 4. so when I went to set it up on my girlfriends macbook pro it was only allowing her to set the iphone up to restore from her iphone, and not my own. so we decided to set it up as a new phone instead. but now this means I have lost all my contacts, photos etc. Nothing was really important apart from my contacts. Does any1 know a way I can get them back. My girlfriend has already searched alot of forum sites to check where the back up is stored and my original back up from my first iphone is no where to be seen. Please Help!

Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. This can be with the Address Book on your Mac and is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Were you syncing contacts with the Address Book on your Mac with your old iPhone and if not, why not?
You can't selectively choose which data included with your iPhone's backup is transferred to a new iPhone, or restored on your iPhone when restoring the iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. It is all or none.
If all contact info that was available on your old iPhone was not included with the iPhone's backup that was transferred to your new iPhone and you weren't syncing contacts with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process, the contacts may be lost.
If your old iPhone is still available along with the contact info, sync your old iPhone with the Address Book on your Mac, which is selected under the Info tab for the iPhone sync preferences. Follow this by selecting the same under the Info tab for your new iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

  • Synchronize iphone to outlook contacts and calendar

I have a new iPhone and the contacts were transferred from my old cell.  I cannot get the outlook calendar nor the outlook contacts onto my iphone.  I can't even get to iPhone information to play around with it as itunes doesn't show my iphone except when it is synchronizing and then it is gone as a device.  How can I get itunes to let me look at the information to be synchronized and mostly, How can I get it to actually synchronize the icloud or even my desktop with the iphone.  Now it is not synchronizing either the icloud or the desktop with the iphone.  thanks for the help.

Is this selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If so, which part is unsuccessful?

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours.  If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for).  You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content.

  • How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? My family shares iPads under my ID and now my teenager gets all my business texts!

How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? iOS 8 now forces all Apple users to use iMessage all the time with all other iOS users. The option to send as SMS only is subordinate to iMessage in iOS 8 settings and CANNOT be turned off to send only SMS texts to another iOS device! This is a serious privacy issue for all households using iOS and doing family sharing, including over a number of iOS devices, under one member's Apple ID. Why should business conversations or financial conversations between parents be readable on an iPad in the hands of a teenager or a seven year old? The answer is not as simple as "Just don't enable iMessage on your other devices," because amy family that shares the Apple ID password is vulnerable to teenagers particularly hacking into iMessage to monitor, for example, what their parents are saying. If I were Samsung or Google I would hammer this issue immediately and continually until it is fixed by Apple (and I'm not sure why they haven't yet). iMessage is a convenience but it has this serious limitation given the architecture of the Apple universe. Apple simply cannot force all its users to conduct text messaging in arbitrarily limited way, any more than it was able to force all its users to switch from Google Maps. When will Apple fix this?

    Trademann wrote:
Fox, that does not work, because then you are blocked from sending any form of message to another Apple user. iMessage MUST be activated to text any other iOS device. And then Apple defaults by ALWAYS using iMessage between iOS devices. There is simply no way, within iOS 8, to send SMS only to another Apple user. Apple has made that impossible.
The SMS-only choice used to be on the same menu level as iMessage, but  now it is locked WITHIN iMessage, and is not available as a choice unless iMessage is activated. Then it is limited solely to being used if iMessage is not available.
I'm sure their argument is that they are saving their customers money because iMessage is free, but they are imposing an opportunity cost on 100 percent of their user base in the guise of saving that money. What they are really doing is entrapping faithful users such as myself further within the Apple ecosystem. If I hadn't already spent thousands of dollars on my iTunes library I might consider a Galaxy ... Samsung does not deserve to regain any momentum if they can't figure out how to exploit this.
Turning off iMessage does not prevent you from sending messages to other Apple users.  You can send an SMS to any iPhone without your own iMessage turned on, even if it is turned on on their iPhone.
The SMS-only option is: Turn off iMessage.  Literally.  That's it.

  • Is it possible to use a single iPhone with two contact numbers via dual sim or an app?

Is it possible to use a single iPhone with two contact numbers via dual sim or an app?
This would be a useful feature for personal and company numbers but using one mobile, rather than carrying two devices or diverting calls.

Then go ahead and try it.  You'll find it's probably a load of crap.
You want 2 numbers, then use Google Voice or TalkaTone
Those are US based only Apps or numbers so no good. I won't be wasting money by just trying something either, especially because using a dual sim would mean purchasing another sim card on either pay as you go or monthly contact.

My wife and I have separate have separate user accounts on our IMac.  We have separate Apple IDs for iTunes.  How can we use iCloud on our separate iPhones without sharing contacts, calendars, etc.

If have separate iCloud accounts and want to keep your all your iCloud data separate, you can create separate user accounts for each of you, then sign into your individual iCloud account within your user account.
If you want to just add both iCloud calendars on your Mac, you can sign into one iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud, then add the second account in System Preferences>Internet Accounts>iCloud and only check Calendars with this second account.

    hi me kashif Hello people,
I lost all my contacts on my iPhone. Facebook contacts integration is turned off. When I got to know that I have no contacts on my iPhone. I checked my settings and iCloud backup and contacts on iCloud (in settings) were off.
Is there a solution to get all my contacts back? Please help me. I want my contacts back, as soon as possible.
    Thank you in advance.
    iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.
