ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Camera Model# GR-D72U

Hi!
You need a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire to import to imovie.
It looks like this:Click Here
They are fairly inexpensive at any electronics store.

  • How can i get my mac book pro to recognize a JVC camcorder?

How can I get my mac book pro to recognize a JVC camcorder using a Sony CAMERA USB cord??

Gotta say thank you — again.  Sorry the posts were spread out over more than one location.    I'll check and see if Third Party Software is considered a "peripheral", maybe that would have been a better single thread choice?
Definitely news we can use and the reference link is appreciated.
OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech.  My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years.  You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done.  A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it.  No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media.  Fixed income.  So we do with what we can as long as we can.  If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got.  On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the "reason" we need.  I really mean it when I say that we are beyond appreciative that users take the time to share info and patiently educate those of us who fall into the "slow tech" category.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't recognize JVC camcorder GR-X5E

    Hello
Does somebody know any kind of "adapter" for MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.8 that makes the signals of my JVC camcorder GR-X5E readable?
    jvc.ch doesn't has a solution
    Thank's in advance!

I only used the USB cable to connect camera and MacBook, opened iMovie and waited until the icon would appear. It didn't. Also on the desktop nothing happend.
Therefore I asked jvc.ch and they said, that there was no possibility...

  • Satellite L300-243 to connect to JVC camcorder

Toshiba Satellite L300-243 was purchased primarily to use with Pinnacle 12 to do video editing.
My previous PC had a 4-4 firewall connection but there is no similar connection on laptop.
Do I use a 4 - USB lead to make the download from camcorder to laptop?
Or is there a different socket on laptop I need to use?
    Bob

    Hi
I assume the JVC camcorder supports the firewire interface and it was connected to the computer via firewire cable.
Unfortunately, it seems that Satellite L300-243 does not support the firewire port.
In your case you could purchase an Express card which contains firewire port.
Then you could connect the camcorder to the notebook.
    Cheers

  • OS 10.6.8 idvd version 7.1.2 crash with JVC camcorder GZ-HM30BU

Has anyone had any difficulties with their idvd becoming non-usable?
I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.8 using idvd 7.1.2 and have a JVC camcorder GZ-HM30BU transferring HD video files using a SDHC card.  After importing and editing using imovie, I share using media browser large (960x540).  I then create a new dvd using idvd (DVD-R 4.7 GB).  After the movie is finished burning the 1st copy ejects and then my macbook asks if I would like to create another dvd.  When I insert the new dvd, my macbook pro ejects the blank dvd and states "done" even though the copy was not made.  I must then select "cancel".  After that, I am no longer able to create dvds using my macbook without replacing the idvd application from my backup disc.  Has anyone had any difficulties with their idvd becoming non-usable?

thanks guys; but the problem is that iDVD does not want to burn a disk now from the original movie-project. i see the movie project on teh desktop and can launch it just fine - even play it through the iDVD application - but when i click burn, it asks for a disk (I insert a memorex DVD+RDL 8.5Gb 240 minute dual layer) and it ejects it a few seconds later. the IDVD progress bar still runs as though it is burning just fine - its progress drops from 18 minutes all the way to "less than a minute" and then it hangs. even if i insert a different memorex disk, it still doesn't start actually burning it. it only burned the very first memorex disk i inserted successfully. i have tried disk utility to burn from a .dmg file copy of the original successfully burned disk, but disk utility can't burn onto the memorex disk either. maybe something wrong with the super drive? thanks for your ideas.

  • Converting a .mod file from a JVC camcorder

I have a JVC camcorder that records video in .mod files (their own format). Does anyone know how I can strip the audio from these files to play them on my iphone? Thanks.

I've no idea what its like but there's a demo to try...

  • Missing Audio when Sharing to JVC Camcorder

When attempting to share my iMovie with my JVC camcorder via iLink, the video records on the camcorder but the sound does not. The camera is set to 16 bit sound. No sound comes out of the iMac or into the camcorder. When the iLink is removed, the sound plays fine on the computer.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Turns out the audio needed to be linked to the .motn sequence.

  • JVC Camcorder + Vista + Firewire + Dell = Trouble!!!

I purchased a Dell several weeks ago, with Windows Vista.  The PC has a firewire port and I expressed to the salesman that one thing I wanted to be able to do is work with video from my JVC camcorder.  I thought it would work.
Well, a week or so ago I tried to start working with this.  The SHORT of it is....does not work...does NOT recognize the camcorder.
I could not get an answer from Dell or Best Buy on how to solve this.  I was hoping that someone out here could help me find the answer I seek.....thanks.....kaj

Just for others use, I went to the Apple retail store. Eventually, the one-on-one trainer was able to bring the video up by starting both the play on the camcorder and the import on the screen of the iMovie application. The MANUAL setting must be used, as said earlier.
Now, if anyone could actually see my movie it would be great. Unfortunately, while we sent it to the Me.com Web gallery or whatever it is called now, none of the invited people can view the movie.
Oh my, this is a long process.

  • Cannot find video on ipad that was transfered from jvc camcorder via everio sync app and wifi

Transfer of video file (MP4) from JVC camcorder by Everio Sync app and direct wi-fi from camera to iPad (latest model and IOS) apparently completed OK. However, I cannot find the video file on the iPad (not in "VIDEOS".    ??????

Are you really looking in the Videos App or are you looking in iTunes?
The videos app is the icon that looks like a blue clapperboard from a movie set.

  • How to use .mod files from a JVC camcorder?

    Hi All,
I'm trying to find the proper workflow for using .mod files from a JVC Everio model camcorder. I was able to transfer the files onto my system by simply using the included usb cable from the unit. It simply mounted the camera's flash card on my desktop and I was able to drag all of the files from it.
As others have posted, the .mod files are not accessible using the Import function in FCP. I am able to open them with MPEGStreamClip as other have suggested. My question is, how should the files be converted to use with FCP and/or DVDSP? In MPEGStreamclip the file shows the video stream as: 224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 8.40 Mbps, upper field first. I tried a few of the demux functions. The straight demux to .m2v & .ac3 yields a file that opens in QT, but it shows up as a 640x480 file and is noticably squeezed. Using the demux unscaled yields a file that opens in QT as a 720x480 file and looks somewhat better. And using the demux to headed yields as file that opens in QT as 720x404 and presumably is the correct 16:9 ratio.
Trying to use those same files in DVDSP didn't get me very far. If I create a new HD project in DVDSP I can import the straight demuxed file and the headed file. The unscaled file won't import. If I add the imported files to tracks the straight demuxed one will play in the simulator but the headed one simply shows a green screen.
I'm hoping that since MPEGStreamclip can play the files, its just a question of figuring out the proper export/conversion settings. My end goal is to produce a dvd of the footage (not exactly sure if I should be using an HD project or a SD project set to letterbox). I also need to produce a web-ready version of the footage. I haven't tried this yet but I'm assuming that one of the QT exports from MPEGStreamclip will get this done correctly.
Hopefully someone has a workable solution for these files.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi all,
I looked further on this forum and found others that had the same problem. One suggested connecting the cam corder first, then start iMovie, then wait for a few minutes. I did this and it worked!!!!!
    Problem solved.
    Thanks.

  • I want to play AVCHD videos in ipad from my JVC camcorder.which is the best tool for converting the avchd videos to formats that ipad can play?

I have a JVC HD camcorder that creates videos in AVCHD format that ipad cannot play. Which is the best tool to convert these avchd videos to the format ipad can play?

Airplay is a wireless streaming protocol. It allows content to be pushed from the iPad through the Apple TV onto your connected HDTV.
If she wants to see the iPad displayed on the big screen and/or play games that involves mirroring. As long as it's an iPad 2 (or later) then you will be fine. More info on both has been referened below

  • Using mac with JVC camcorder

Hi! i'm new the the world of mac and have just bought a JVC GZ-MG330 camcorder, and am having trouble getting my new macbook to recognise and play the video files. Am i missing some download or something? There must be a way to do it since the instructions say how to save it to a mac. Is there some editing downloads i need or something?? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

Have a look at the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1422086&tstart=26 batman's Frog.
The most promising answer there, from "baileybird", is:
"+have an IMAC Desktop 10.4.11 and yes the JVC GZ-MG330 does work with IMOVIE 08, just don't follow the JVC Manual+
+Connect the Camera to the PC as per their instructions+
+Select "Playback on PC" on the camera+
+Then an ICON will appear on the desktop called "EVERIO_HDD"+
+Then open IMOVIE 08 the software automatically attempts to import the files and you get a prompt on the screen to "IMPORT ALL" or the files you wish to import. Follow IMOVIE prompts from there - not the JVC brochure.+"
But there are some other suggestions, too.
    Cheers

  • JVC Camcorder GZ-MG360 compatibility

I just purchased the new JVC 60GB camcorder but am having no luck with iMovie 08. It won't recognize the device nor import the video. I need to determine if its worth keeping or return. My goal is to purchase one that does not require any 3rd party software to convert. Any suggestions?

  • JVC camcorder and Quicktime

Hi guys, I have tried this question in Quicktime forum but I think the Pro's will have the answer for me, only 1 reply there.
I am considering buying a JVC GZMG50EK hard drive camcorder and need some help with the file format.
I have been told that when a file is downloaded to the Mac it needs to be converted through JVC software to open in Quicktime, is this correct?
I thought I could just click on the file and it would go through Quicktime as the default programme. Is it something to do with converting from mpeg2 to mpeg 4?
I have also read that there is a plug in which will enable quicktime to open mpeg2.
I am trying to keep workflow to a minimum and I am told that the JVC software takes 5 mins to convert a 16 second clip.
I am a pro stills photographer but have'nt got a clue about video!
    Is this info correct?
Can anyone help before I buy?
    Wayne D

you dont say why you want to buy a hard disc recording camcorder, it woould be an interesting and precarious choice.
this camera is a domestic product, it is not a professional quality camera, it would be a good purchase for home use to easily make DVD video's of your family events, without using tape.
the camera is designed to do the following:
record an event onto the hard drive then use the video files to make a DVD video disc so that it can be played on a DVD video player.
it uses video quality recordings exactly the same as DVD video, the hard drive records MPEG2 video which is what DVD video is. normally before making the DVD, DV video from tape has to be compressed and converted to MPEG 2 taking many times longer to encode than to play, this camera does it in real time while recording.
As DVD is a highly compressed format to be used as an end product it is not best suited for further editing
JVC has a technology alliance with Microsoft Windows based software, therefore the software will not work with a Mac. The camera is supplied with DVD authoring software, you will need a recent fast Windows XP based computer to make it run.
I have a professional JVC camera which has the ability to record to an onboard hard drive. I was offered the hard drive at a give away price so the dealer could use me as a test bed. I declined and went for tape to give me the quality and performance I need.
There should be a very good reason to choose a hard drive camera instead of tape to justify such a purpose.
It sounds as if you would be far better buying a mini DV tape based camcorder from JVC, theres lots to choose from.
    regards
    Gary

  • JVC Camcorder model no: GR -DF460 and firewire

    Hello all,
Sorry if this is not in the correct place.
I have just switched to apple and I'm having a problem being able to connect the camcorder to my mac.
There does not appear to be the correct port on the mac. My current firewire has the same small connection at each end.
My husband called into PC World today and was advised that I just needed to use a wire with the small JVC connector, with the other end being a usb plugged into the mac. This is not the case as the camcorder is not recognised.
Please help and apologies if this is garbled. Thankyou

Check to see if you have a Firewire 800 connection on your MacBook Pro. Your camera probably has a Firewire 400 connection. The solution would be to get a 9 pin to 4 pin firewire cable. This are available inexpensively online. Also available at places like Radio Shack.
