JVC Digital camera not fully connected

I have a JVC GR-DVM70 and I have a Mac mini / SuperDrive that won't capture video from it. It does rewind it and start it playing but after 10 secs it stops saying no video captured. When I plug it in I do not get a Connected message. Anybody been through this before, I sure could use your help?

Same problem here with JVC GR-DX37. With iMovie it works fine but One Step DVD in iDVD stops with 'no video captured'.
Has anybody worked this out yet?
Thanks

  • Digital camera not recognised on iMac

    Hi
Yesterday I connected my canon digital ixus camera to my iMac and copied over some photos, via usb, no problem. Today I am trying to do exactly the same but the camera is not seen at all. Nothing has changed, and I have used the same procedure as per many times before (plug it in and get on with it!), Indeed troubleshooting so far:
    No new software loaded
Camera has been reset to factory settings
CF card is fine as seen through a card reader
USB cable fine as used with different device
Other external hard drive recognized as soon as plugged in
CF card formatted, and only one photo on it so no "time" issues loading over images.
    Camera battery fully charged.
Frustrating (as would rather just be able to plug in camera and avoid card reader) and wondering if anyone else has had any issues with digital cameras (canon in particular) not being seen on Imac, anyone have any ideas or thoughts? Have I missed something glaringly obvious today?!!
    Much appreciated i

    Hi ynot704
Check iPhoto to see if the Canon's image shows up there. All of our other camera's (Olympus & Kodak) mount on the desktop plus open iPhoto. Our Canon opens, shows up and download to iPhoto just fine, but does not mount an image on the desktop or show up in disk utility.
It's not the iMac, look at this Google Search: [canon not mounting on imac desktop|http://www.google.com/custom?q=canon+not%20mounting%20on%20imac%20deskt op&sa=Search&client=pub-6263300333013957&forid=1&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&cof =GALT:%23008000;GL:1;DIV:%23336699;VLC:663399;AH:center;BGC:FFFFFF;LBGC:336699;A LC:0000FF;LC:0000FF;T:000000;GFNT:0000FF;GIMP:0000FF;FORID:1;&hl=en]

  • [solved] Digital Camera not recognized in device-manager

My digital camera "Canon Powershot SX120 is" is not recognized by the devicemanager. I have read Digital Cameras.
    $ groups
    wheel storage users printadmin
The "camera"-Group isn't needed anymore and this group doesn't exist on my system.
The Powershot SX 120 has a  MTP/PTP connection mode (as the manual says). But:
    # mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6
    Listing raw device(s)
    No raw devices found.
    gphoto succeed:
    $ gphoto2 --auto-detect
    Modell Port
    Canon PowerShot SX120 IS usb:002,019
A gphoto --summary could be found here
There is no udev-rule for this camera. If i create one while copying a rule from a similar camera from /etc/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules, and store it into /etc/udev/rules.d/69-canon.rules, the device-manager shows up. My udev-rule:
    # Canon PowerShot SX120AX (PTP/MTP mode)
    ATTR{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTR{idProduct}=="31e0", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1"
The device-manager shows me only the option to open with a file-manager. Doing so will result in an error:
The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/ do not exist.
    With my udev-rule:
    solid-hardware listen
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
    Listening to add/remove events:
    Device Added:
    udi = '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
Without the active udev-rule, "solid-hardware listen" produces nothing, but
    udevadm monitor
monitor will print the received events for:
UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
    KERNEL - the kernel uevent
    KERNEL[5077.662572] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)
    KERNEL[5077.662655] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/2-8:1.0 (usb)
    UDEV [5077.681178] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)
    UDEV [5077.693035] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/2-8:1.0 (usb)
Don't know what to do ... is a udev-rule necessary to bring up the message from device-manger? Or is the Camera not recognized as a mtp-device (the Camera has no such settings)? How could i figure it out?
With Digikam i could import Fotos, but i would do so with gwenview. I've tried to check it out with gwenview_importer:
    $ gwenview_importer --udi '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
gwenview_importer: Missing required source folder argument.
(don't care about the different udi, i took this example from a former try) but i don't know, how to find out where the "source folder" is ...

I have solved this by making an extra udev-rule for my camera. See my adventure on forum.kde.org for details

  • PC thinks my iPhone 3GS is a Digital Camera, not visible in Itunes

    Hope someone can help
I bought the 3GS iPhone 32gb today and went to register on my PC and when connected to the uSB ports it was detected as a camera and only gives me the option of Photo Shop etc
It is also visible in 'My Computer' as a camera
I tried various USB ports as I believed only half where USB 2.0 the same happened after each restart, so I bought a new PCI USB 2.0 card and tried it through that with the same issue.
The Iphone works normally on another PC but obviously I want it to sync to my PC and Music
    Latest version of Itunes installed
    Restarted comp several times
Closed various security software on my PC temporarily

This is normal; it IS a digital camera, and this is how you get photos off it.

Open Task Manager (CTRLSHIFTESC), click on the Processes tab and the Image Name column to sort on name. Then look for AppleMobileDeviceService.exe (AMDS). If it is present then your problem is most likely a USB driver problem; try updating the USB drivers. If it is NOT present go to Control Panels, Administrative Tasks and launch Services. Find the entry for AMDS, right click on it and choose Start.

  • Digital Camera Not Recongized

When I connect a camera to the MacBook Pro 15 Retina via the USB cable it is not being recognized. It does not show up in the bottom right under USB devices and it does not show up in Windows Explorer. When I go to Device Manager I see the camera under "Other Devices" but it only shows "Canon Digital Camera" instead of the model number. There is also an exclamation mark and looking at the details it says something like "Driver for this device was not installed (Code 28)". Windows does not find a driver when I have it search for one. Canon does not provide a driver for Windows 7 not because it's an old camera but because Windows 7 is supposed to have built-in support. Everything works just fine on a "regular" PC with the same camera and same cable. The only difference is the OS (Win 7 x64 vs Win 7 N x64). Any help to resolve this issue is appreciated.

I looked for a solution for days before this post. There was also an issue with the light sensor so I googled that. Turns out that to get the light sensor to work on Win 7 N you need to download the "MEDIA feature pack". Well, considering the name I figured it might also solve the issue with the camera and indeed it now the light sensor works and the cameras are being recognized.

  • Digital camera/printer-scanner connection to iPhoto

I recently purchased an iMac with iPhoto 08. I have an HP R707 Photosmart digital camera that iPhoto won't recognize. I followed the instructions in the iPhoto tutorial but iPhoto will not recognize the camera as a source and, in fact, freezes up. I have to Force Quit the application. A friend suggested getting a card reader. I looked on the Apple site and the first thing that popped up was an HP Photosmart printer/scanner with media readers. Well, I already have one connected to the iMac. The HP Photosmart C4180 All-in-one. I open iPhoto and insert the digital medium in the HP slot and try to download to iPhoto, but the HP tells me I need some software. What software? Why won't my camera connect? I'd actually prefer to use the printer/scanner since you can do more with it. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You'll have to contact HP to see what software it requires. A card reader is, IMO, the optimal method of uploading from the camera to iPhoto as the method works with any camera that has a removable media card.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Vivitar 3 in 1 Mini Digital Camera not working

Hello. I have a Vivitar 3 in 1 Mini Digital Camera. It does not show picture on my MacBook. It is a Still Camera, a Video Camera, and a Webcam. I've tried to use macam to get the webcam picture, and it recognizes the Camera, but it just won't display any video. All it displays is a black picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First be sure you have tried following the instructions (if any) that came with the camera.
If one like this camera http://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-Mini-Digital-Camera-Video/dp/B000VSL01E is what you are trying to connect, I doubt that is will work as a webcam with your Mac, but you can try iUSBCam to see if that will get it going for you. Although your Vivitar is not in their list of supported cameras, that fact doesn't necessarily mean iUSBCam won't work for you. You can try the free Demo download to see if if will work with your little camera. If iUSBCam does not make your Vivitar work either, just follow the instructions on how to uninstall the iUSBCam demo and then use your iSight.

  • Vivitar Mini Digital Camera not compatible with iMac?

I bought this Vivitar Mini Digital Camera the other day, and it came with software that isn't compatible with my computer. I checked out a few boards, and a few more boards, only to find out that other people with Macs were having the same problem. No one really had a solution for this problem. I connected the USB cable, and tried to see if maybe iPhoto or Image Capture would allow me to import photos. Neither one would. The software that came with the camera say "Arcsoft Photo Impression4.0". On one of the message boards, I remember someone posting something about not to even bother downloading it online because it wouldn't work. I looked on Google for hours, and can't seem to find anyone with answers. Thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone can help. If not, guess I'm returning the camera!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Does the camera have a removable memory card? If so then use a card reader with it and iPhoto will import them.

  • Sony dsc-wx150 digital camera doesn't connect in iPhoto

Just got a Sony DSC-WX-150 digital camera. Already have a Mac Mini, OS 10.7.xx latest updates, and iPhoto 11 with latest updates. When I connect the camera with the supplied usb cable and turn it on, iPhoto doesn't respond or show the mounted device. The Finder sees it and shows it in a window as a memory stick. Any idea why it doesn't show or what I can do about it? TIA
    Jim

Thanks, Larry. Why couldn't that be in the Troubleshooting section or on Sony's web site? I'm sure I'm not the only one with a new memory card.

  • IPod touch 4th Gen is recognized as digital camera, not in iTunes

I'm using a Windows XP computer with the newest version of iTunes and my iPod touch 4 won't pop up in iTunes, it's a digital camera according to my pc. I have tried really EVERYTHING: update iTunes, downgrade iTunes, reinstall iTunes and all other apple software 7 times, USB drivers, firmware, DFU-mode, every single apple support I could find I tried! And now I'm tired of it, my rage upon this issue isn't describable anymore...
Please help me instead of referring to another topic

Found the sollution, but it is very hard to do though:
"Unfortunatly uninstalling/re-installing iTunes and all doesn't always seem to work. We had the same issue with the ipod touch being recognized as a digital camera under windows xp. We tried just about any recipe listed by apple or others with no success.
In the end what works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:
    1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in
and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really
matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).
    2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:
o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)
o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).
o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!
You should find the driver info in a sub folder of
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B
Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder
name into note pad – you’ll need it later)
If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not
been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.
    3. Locate the ipod-camera device:
o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >
Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager
o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as
‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.
    4. Update the driver:
o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on
‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.
o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’
o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check
‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.
In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder
containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example
    above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B),
    then click Next.
You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue
installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come
to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.
Hope this helps. Please add comments to the instructions above if you find variations that work for you."
Apple should fix things like this!

  • Canon a610 digital camera not supported?

Anyone have any idea how long it takes for them to make digital cameras compatible....i just got a brand new awesome a610 canon digital camera and i cant use it bc my mac doesnt recognize it....what gives?

I also can not get OS X to recognize my PowerShot A620 in Image Capture or iPhoto (version 2!). Then again, it's not a supported camera according to the list of compatible camera here on Apple's site. I blame Canon, mostly, for not making drivers of some sort with the Image Capture SDK. Honestly, I just don't want all this extra software on my computer just to download photos when I SHOULD just be able to do it in iPhoto.
EDIT: After installing the Canon software, the camera is still not recognized in CameraWindow, Image Capture, or iPhoto. Yay! Money well spent...
Is it an issue of USB 2.0 vs USB 1.1?

  • Canon 5D  digital camera not able to connect with EOS utiliities software

I use the Canon 5D camera and have a Macbook pro which I got about 3 months ago. I use Canons EOS utilities for this purpose. When the camera is tethered to the computer, you start the software and when an exposure is made, Image browser is opened by the eos utility software and you see the image on the laptop, you can check lighting and other things using this, it is a great tool, at the same time you can save the image to the memory card on the camera as well as on the laptop. Another bonus is being able to control the camera functions on the laptop. Anyhow, just bought the new macbook as a backup when I travel. It has leopard on it and the eos software does not work. I have talked to Canon and Apple about this. it seems that nothing I do seems to make it work, anyone have any hints.
    thanks

Sounds like the EOS software may not yet be compatible with Leopard. Did the Canon tech point you to a later version or indicate that it would run under Leopard?
I'd highly recommend that you try connecting the 5D using iPhoto, which is basic, yet serviceable. If you can connect to the camera using iPhoto, you know the systems are working, and the fault is not in the cable. Alternatively, use an inexpensive card reader and connect the card reader via USB cable and take the card out of the camera and use the reader to download the images into the computer. This is preferable, as any disconnection between the camera and the computer while data is being transferred can corrupt images. Using a card reader is safer.
As a long time Canon digital user, I'd recommend using Photoshop and the Camera RAW converter rather than the crippled Canon software -- the EOS software is really pretty awful. I gave it up over three years ago when I bought my 20D and haven't looked back.

Have you downloaded everything that is on the camera? If so format the SD card on the camera (will erase everything on the card).
If you have not downloaded everything can you see stuff on the camera? If you have a card reader you could try putting the SD card in that and trying on the mini. If your mini has a SD card slot you could try that.
In any case format the card on the camera before taking more pics.
Next time be sure to eject the camera from the Mac properly and turn the camera off before disconnecting.
EDIT: You might also check the camera's USB Mode is set to PC.

  • Fuji S700 digital camera on USB connection unnoticed

Just given Fuji Finepix S700 dig. camera. Trying to import pictures to my MacB. Plugged USB cable from camera to MacB, & turned camera on, as instructed. It doesn't show up in Finder. The cable is plugged directly to the computer, not a hub or extension.
I have installed FinePix viewer as instructed. Owner's Manuel says: "In Mac OS X, you must set the automatic setup when the first time you connect the camera to your PC." [sic] I don't know what that means, & haven't found any help on the computer.
System Profiler does SEE the device, but that apparently doesn't help me import anything or otherwise deal w/ the camera.
    Thanks for your help.

Try going to your Applications and launching 'Image Capture', then plug you camera in and turn it on. That camera should set itself to USB mode regardless of the dial position you choose.
