JVC HD7 - TOD convert - quality - parameters ?

Hello everybody,
Hopefully I'll help with some data and have some questions at the same time.
After researching several communities I use MPEG SC 1.9 to convert the TOD files. There was a little disturbance, either to convert to HDV or AIC. Hopefully my little test will display the difference:
*TOD file 39.7 MB in 1920x1080*
*DV file 46.3 MB in roughly 1.5 min*
adjustments within MSC...Format: DV Stream(PAL, Interlaced,16:9, Audio rate 48000khz), scale Interlaced, color re-interlace, upper pic first
-> FCP no render for Video necessary
-> hopefully I got all menue options halfway right. Apparently I'm not US and use a german version
*MOV file 143.6 MB with Apple Intermediate Codec in exactly 1 min*
adjustments within MSC...Format: Quicktime Export, Compression AIC, Audio uncompressed, 1920x1080, scale Interlaced, color re-interlace, upper pic first
-> FCP rencer for Video necessary
-> hopefully that's the codec everybody means, when talking AIC !?
General FCP question here:
I've set it to HDV 1080i 50 and then imported the files to the project. Apparently the movie in the canvas (100% size) should be huge, a lot of scrolling bars. But it isn't. It's a little bit bigger than the canvas or viewer window and the picture isn't that clear.
Same thing with the TOD file in Mpeg SC. It's not crystal clear, far away from expectations. Cars in city limits seem to have stripes while in motion. The frame size doesn't fit. It should be bigger than my smaller display can display.
Here's the info out of Mpeg SC:
Stream: MOV001.TOD
Pfad: ~/Movies/MOV001.TOD
Typ: MPEG transport stream
Dauer: 0:00:13
Datenmenge: 39.73 MB
Bit Rate: 24.66 Mbps
Video Spuren:
4113 MPEG-2, 1920 × 1080, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 28.00 Mbps, oberes Halbbild zuerst
Audio Spuren:
4129 MP2 stereo, 48 kHz, 384 kbps
Stream Dateien:
MOV001.TOD (39.73 MB)
Why is the 1920x1080 not the size it should be ? Honestly, if that s the quality from a daylight shot I will sell that camcorder right away and buy a PAL system mini DV for half the price. It's bad !
Another angle: *I've chosen Apple FCP unkompr. 8-Bit 4:2:2 in MSC*.
At least I got a 1920x1080 picture/movie. But what does 8Bit 4:2:2 mean ?
Is that what all of you do ? Guess not.
22 sec of movie 78.7 MB blows up to 2.55 GB !!!
Still the quality isn't that great. Would someone please help me with the parameters in MSC to convert ? That would be awesome.
Well or any other way around the conversion. I'm a little desparate right now.
Lowlight quality of the camcorder is really bad. One bulp and it's spooky dark. But that's not that bad, if at least perfect lid scenes would be great.
Anyone with experiences when it comes to quality of the HD7 ? The pic isn't clearer as the one of my 5yr old miniDV and I shot at bluesky daylight ???
Help is highly appreciated.
thanks.
I still wait for those super color pics

Not help full I know, but I did have the same problem with the HD7, a customer brought it back. He could not get a quality picture. We tested several day's the camera, also another HD7 but we could not get good quality in a Apple setup. (Tested with iMovie (6HD) FCE 3.5 FCP6.02 OS 10.4.10)
He did buy a Sony HDV

    Hi,
in standard HTML post and get are the two methods sending data from one page to another. While method get the parameter to the URL after "?" and seperated by "&" method post is using an HTML-form.
In your case I would suggest to implement a form with hidden fields named by your parameters and containing the values. By clicking the submit button, the hidden fields are transmitted as post parameters.
    example
    <html>
    <head> </head>

  • RTP, synchronize video/audio, quality parameters

    Hello.
i am starting with a project and i dont know how to start.
The goal of the project is to send a video from and url or video or camera from A to B, send an audio from C to B. B joined the video and the audio and send to D that is the final client. Furthermore, i have to know information about the packets that A and C send to B and B send to D, and the packets received by D. I have to get a way to compare the quality of the video and audio sent and the quality of the video and audio received by the final client D.
I also want that when another client E ask for the same video to B he receive the same packets in real time than the other client D.
Can anybody help me? Should i use RTP? How could i get quality parameters about each packet received and sent by the client and provider? How can i synchronize the video and the audio received by B and send it in real time to the final client?
    Thank u very much.

    footmaniac wrote:
Then, can't I synchronize the video and audio with the timestamp of each frame with JMF? the final client will receive the audio and video not synchronize then... No, because the timestamps are transmission time of the data packet. You can synchronize by those, sure, but that'll just make it so that they are syncronized based on when they were transmitted, not based on media time or link-up markers or anything.
An another question, for example, i run AVTransmitt2 and it opens an RTP conection waiting for a request. If nobody requests then it doesnt start with the tranmission of the video. Well, then i run AVReceive2 and the transmission of the video starts. then i run another AVReceive2 and i want that if the first AvReceive2 is still receiving the video then the second AVreceive2 receives the same. And if the first AvReceive2 has received the whole video... the second AvReceive2 receive the beginning of the video. Using the same instance of AvTransmit2.You can't even dynamiclly add new targets once you start your RTP session, so, it's impossible to do that using the "same instance" of any class. Once you start broadcasting to the first AVReceive2, the second one needs its own instance of AVTRansmit2...and you can start up the video it's receiving wherever you want, so you could just make it start where the other instance is currently broadcasting.

  • JVC GZ-HD7 .tod files, playback stutters in QT but playback fine in iMovie

I know there had been posts in other threads about this or similar, but I see that most had been answered, so I though it best to create a new thread for my specific questions.
I am able to convert my .tod files either in QTpro (using the JVC provided plugin for QT and simply doing an export) or using MPEG-SC 1.93beta. What I am trying to figure out though, is what has worked for others in getting the best quality from the .tod files, specifically when filming in 1920x1080 and not 1440 cbr mode.
It was recommended to use the Apple intermediate codec in a different thread. I have tried this and the h.264. The h.264 had the largest file size after export and the least amount of stuttering but it was still there. As a test I used only a 2 min clip.
It isn't a deal breaker since once the .mov's are imported into the timeline of iMovieHD they playback perfectly. But I would like to be sure that I am exporting correctly and able to playback the raw clips in QT.
Lastly, could anyone share with me how long it is taking to convert their clips and what methods used. It took me 1 hour to export a 9 min clip to .mov, and even longer for a straight import into iMovie without converting the .tod file first (drag the .tod to the clip pane.)
    Thanks.

Also, this is really stupid, but I have never set up a batch convert for file in MPEG-SC...Can you tell me how this is done so I can start a batch and come back to this machine in a week or so.
As with most things, the specific workflow may depend on a number of different factors. In this case, it may depend on the specific version of MPEG Streamclip in use and the specific nature/variation in processes required. In all instances, however, batch processing is intiated by selecting the "Batch List" List menu option. If you are using the latest 1.9b3 version, you can then:
    1) If performing a series of the same, simple, basic conversions/Demux operations (e.g., dumux a all of the SG1 season 1 VOBs to elementary streams), then simply press the "Add Files" button in the "Batch List" window and enter the specific information as requested. (I.e., select source files, how to prepare them, what conversion/demux operation is to be performed, specify the target name/destination, etc.)
    2) If you are performing more complex actions (e.g., converting a series of 16 x 9 source files to different cropped/scaled aspect ratios like 1.85:1, 2.35:1, and 2.40:1, then I would use the normal "work" window to select each source file and enter the different/unique settings desired for each and then press the "Batch List" button in the "Work" window to add destination file information and transfer all of your settings to the batch list.

  • Using the JVC HD7 with a MAC

I have purchased the HD7 and cannot get it to work with either iMovie 06 or iMovie 08. I even took the camera to my local Apple store and none of the people were able to get it working. Any ideas? The camera is recognized as the program tells me when it is paused and running but I get nothing but a blue screen. Photo's downloaded into iPhoto with no problem at all

The link to DVINFO is a great place to find tons of information on your HD7.
However, you'll find many references --including from me -- that you should use MPEG Streamclip to convert TOD to AIC. This takes lots of time and lots of disk space.
This "old" procedure can be replaced by a new procedure that takes almost no time and creates files that are the same size as TOD files. This procedure -- and far more -- is covered in my "JVC GZ-HD7 Handbook" that now includes a 70-page "iMovie 08 Editing Guide."

  • JVC-HD7 and FCE

I recently bought the jvc cam and fce thinking all was OK and now everything I'm reading says the cam is compatible with iMovie and FCPro only. What have I got myself into? I avoided Sony's new cams for this reason. Anyone know if the two will work together?

    vidnewguy,
This info is regarding this camera:
JVC HD Everio GZ-HD7 camcorder - Digital interfaces
The JVC GZ-HD7 is equipped with three digital interfaces - USB, HDMI and i.LINK. USB is primarily for file saving, HDMI for digital viewing on large screen displays, and iLink streams high definition video in full resolution or 1440CBR mode. HD recorded material is down-converted for output in DV over i.LINK, or in standard definition via the analog component/ S-Video/ Composite output.
    HD recorded material is down-converted for output in DV over i.LINK;
This phrase seems to indicate that iLink (firewire) may work. You would have to configure the camera and see if it does.

  • JVC AVCHD BATCH CONVERT TO MP4

Hi, my platform is Macbook air , mid 2013, OS 10.9.4. and I use Adobe Creative Cloud.
I shot many videos with a JVC gz-ex215BE camcorder. The files are on an SD card in AVCHD format.
I would like to BATCH CONVERT all those files from AVCHD to individual MP4 files, with the possibility to rename them sequentially.
I tried to open the AVCHD container with Premiere Pro, and I can see the individual videos in the Media Explorer, but with File/Export/Media, I can only convert 1 File At a Time !
So I turned my attention to Media Encoder, and was surprised to see that AME cannot open the AVCHD container.
When trying to add my videos to the Waiting Cue, in the Open dialog box, The AVCHD container [SD Root/Private/AVCHD] shows grey, and I cannot select it !
    Thanks for any suggestion. Philippe.

You are sending me down rabbit holes with all your questions, and yes you
    are misunderstanding.  Please read carefully.
No, the raw, original source video has no black sections.  It is all
video.  And, I never said blanks, I said black.
But, when I see it on the project timeline in project file of v12 of
premeire elements, there is a portion of black images in the timeline video
    clips section.
One would think there is nothing there.  However, when you click play
(while in the project file) that black section actually has video and audio
(which you can hear and see, as in the video display that shows directly
    above the timeline.
Yet, when I create the Mp4 from this project file, the black section (from
the timeline) carries over.  Unlike when I watch the project (and see video
and hear audio in this portion that is black on the video timeline clip), I
cannot see or hear   in the  mp4 video.
This is Windwos 8.   yes, I have the latest windows media player.

    Hi
I have a following situation in hand :-
    Material u2013 GAS (APM)
Basic Price u2013 700.00 / MMSCM (This price is @ 10,000 NCV u2013 a quality parameter of GAS)
Example we receive some 100 MMSCM GAS which is @8500 NCV.
    The price here will be
    700     X      8500 / 10000      =     595
Similarly there is Transport Charges which will be readjusted based on the value of NCV at which GAS is supplied.

This is very much possible. In fact dairy industry works on the same principle. The pricing takes place only after Inspection lot characteristics are posted.
This is long exercise, wherein you need to maintain certian special condition types and access sequences. You can get more information at buidling block library Link: [http://help.sap.com/bp_bblibrary/600/BBLibrary_Start.htm]

  • Questions about JVC GZ HD7 and Final Cut

i'm planning to buy a JVC GZ HD7, but i have some questions about it...
    My imac configuration is
    Imac 20" late 2006
    1 Gb Ram
    Leopard 10.5.2
    Final Cut Studio 2
    Ok
    So my questions are:
1- When shooting the best setting for me is the 1440cbr, or 1920x1080
is better? i would like to have progressive instead of interlaced
moviefiles, but for what i have read the JVC HD7 only shoots interlaced...is possible to turn them into progressive after working in final cut?
2- In Final Cut Pro what are the sequence settings and the video
settings for a video shoot from this camera?
I would like to know the best settings possible for me,
regarding that i would like to edit in real time, no rendering needed,
and to have the best image quality that this camera can offer...

FCE is designed to work with DV/HDV files. It cannot work natively with MPEG2 files. You will need something like MPEG Streamclip to convert your files to a format that FCE understands
Streamclip is free but you need to buy Apple's MPEG Playback Component to make it work
