Try using MPEG Streamclip.

  • Inporting JVC HD6 to Final Cut Pro???

    Hi,
I just purchased a JVC HD6 camcorder and want to know the easiest/best way to import the footage into FCP. I have the first version of Studio (FCP 5?) and a MacPro that's running OS 10.4+. JVC's .MOD files have thrown me for a loop.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tracy

    Hey Tracy,
I use cyberlink’s powerdirector, it converts .mod files from my jvc media camera to avi, mpg 1&2 extremly well. find it with torrentbox or purchase a copy.
    or,
change the file extention to .m2v. This is an mpeg2 format and is recognized in adobe and includes audio, without any problems. Hope this helps.

  • JVC DV500 and Final Cut

I've been using my DV 500 as a deck, but since I've upgraded to FCP 5, the camera doesn't register with the computer at all. I plugged a Panasonic DVX 100A and it worked fine. My last step is to try a new firewire cable. Has Apple completely done away with JVC and has anyone else had this problem?
I've been reading the other posts and following the steps. I even had a tech friend look it over. I'm pulling out the rest of my hair here. Maybe I'll just buy a cheap camcorder.
    Thanks

You have done the Quicktime reinstall?

  • JVC GZ-HD7E (.TOD) vs. Final Cut Pro 7

The Mac world is really new to me, I have iMac, I have Final Cut Studio HD (the latest and updatet) and I have JVC GZ-HD7E camera - but they dont work together
I thought that this huge program would take .tod files but neither FCP or iMove likes these files.
Hope someone has some kind of answer that could help me, and if this is already postet somewhere else, im sorry then!
    Kind regards
    Louise

A simple google for this camera and FCP brought me to the Manual of the camera, and that included a link to the [QuickTime component|http://www.everydayvideo.com/eng/GZHD7/indexqc.php] which needs to be installed in order to work with FCP.
(read entire page. There's something about updated, and not working with iMove'08).
Or did you already install that Quicktime component?

  • How to work on TOD files on Final Cut Pro

    Hi,
I can't figure out how to work on .TOD files on Final Cut Pro. I'm using a JVC Everio HD40 camera. None of the sequence presets work. Is there a plug-in or something else I could try?
    Thanks for any help!

.TOD is JVCs version of an MPEG 2 file.
Use Log and Transfer from the File menu and convert to ProRes.

  • How do I import footage off a JVC Everio gz-hd7u to Final Cut

I have a JVC Everio gz-hd7u that I hook up to final cut pro and use log and transfer. I select the disk destination and it doesnt see any footage. I also tried with my canon HG10 that I was recently able to transfer footage but cannot now. Does anyone have any ideas of how to do it?
    Thank you!

Just browsing & saw this. I've been fighting this for several weeks now. Seems like Quicktime 7.3 recognized the tod files that the Everio creates, but 7.4 doesn't, so consequently, neither does FCP. Creative Cow forums tell me that the best workaround for all this is MPEG Streamclip(free). Apple says it's JVC's problem & vice-versa. I'm taking this camera to China with me in August along with a Macbook pro & hope to do a daily youtube upload to my friends back home. Hope they get this resolved before then. It'll save me alot of render time!

  • New Imac/New Final Cut Ex/New JVC Hard Disc Camcorder no bueno!!!!

New Imac/New Final Cut Ex/New JVC Hard Disc Camcorder
Please help me. I have been editing on a tiny little pc, and finally made the switch. Now, I can't access any of my videos, can't edit or even open the files. If all the files are moi or mod, what does final cut express need to open the files? How do I go about converting them? Such a big powerful machine, such limited accessibility!
    Thanks!

FCE4 on an Intel Mac can only edit DV, HDV and AVCHD video.
All other formats will not work.
You will have to download an app like Streamclip to convert your non-standard files to DV.

  • Final Cut and TOD

    Hey everyone,
I've started using Final Cut, and I'm told the best codec to import for my purposes is DV. I've been using a JVC Everio HDD which creates TOD files. I started using two different programs, one to convert TOD to MP4, and then from MP4 to DV, but so much quality is lost. Is there a converter for Mac that will bridge TOD to DV without having to spend $30 on shareware?
    Any ideas?

That's strange. I went to this webpage:
    http://everio.jvc.com/specifications.html
and that says that the Everio records to AVCHD. You're saying it doesn't, so that leaves me confused.
You read the chapter about using Log & Transfer to bring the files into Final Cut, right? That doesn't work? It's not talking about streaming the video/audio. It's talking about a file from the camcorder's HDD that is imported via Log & Transfer, not Log & Capture.
Are on the same page of the playbook now?
If using L&T doesn't work with the Everio, that's that. But based on your reply, I'm not convinced you've tried the right method. Maybe you have, and you're just not communicating it so I get it.

  • Final Cut Pro X and JVC camera

Can anyone who saw the April preview of Final Cut Pro X tell me if it will contain the necessary codec for my JVC GY - HM100U camera? Many thanks.

    finnur,
I am interested in using this camera for a documentary shoot this fall.
most of the info I have read online has been from your posts here & it sounds like you love the camera.
Do you shoot in the XDCAM QT codec or using mp4? sounds like it works pretty well with FCP?
do you transcode to prores before editing?
Is there anything else I should know about the camera before i make the plunge?
    THANKS!

  • Hey, I have Final Cut Express 4.0.1 and a JVC everio camera, whenever i try to import my files to FCE via "Log and transfer", it just doesn't do anything, as if FCE doesn't know the camera is there, please help !

    Hey,
I have Final Cut Express 4.0.1 and a JVC everio camera.
Whenever i try to import my files to FCE via "Log and transfer", it just doesn't do anything, as if FCE doesn't know the camera is there,
    please help !

FCE 4.0.1 can only capture DV/HDV which is produced by cameras using Mini-DV TAPES and cameras shooting AVCHD which is a high definition format.
If your camera shoots standard definition on Memory Cards, DVDs or Hard Drives it will not work in FCE.
What is your camera's exact model name and number?

  • Annoyed with JVC/Final Cut Pro import problem; will they ever fix this?

Annoyed with Final Cut Pro JVC import problem; will they ever fix this?
I've shot footage on JVC GY-HD111E in the UK in 720p/25p PAL mode.
I'm trying to import lots of short clips (average 10 seconds) into Final Cut Pro (latest version with 720p/25p support) with a new Mac Pro maxed out with ram and 3 extra internal HDs.
Problem is, on a scene-break i.e. pause/stop, Final Cut detects this and creates a new clip, but it takes about 5 seconds to 'searching for media" before it starts the new clip. Because some clips are only very short, this 5 second delay sometimes means I only get the final few frames of a clip, rather than the entire 5 seconds or so of it.
JVC UK are blaming Apple and are saying it is up to them to fix it as Premiere and Edius does not have this problem.
However, Symbiosis in the UK (who do HD-Connect box) say that the JVC ProHD cameras do not wrap the shots up properly at the end, they are kind of left open and this creates problems on scene-breaks.
I've tried turning off the "create new clip on timecode break" etc, but it does not make any difference, when I do this it simply quits capturing on a scene break. Besides I have about 300 cutaways like this and I don't want to spend the rest of the year breaking them up on the timeline as this would be a futile and long workflow.
I'm importing and working on a native HDV 720p/25p timeline and this is the way I want to work. I've already imported and edited 4 hours of footage, but these 4 hours were easy as all 4 tapes had no start/stop points, they were recorded continuously from beginning to end of tape for 64 minutes each time so importing was no problem; 1 clip per tape.
But now I've come to my 5 tapes containing hundreds of cutaways I'm kind of screwed and need some advise on how I can import them natively in HDV without losing this 5 seconds off the beginning of each clip whilst FCP searches for the media each time.
I've been told this issue is definately with FCP, any ideas how I can get around this?

I haven't heard of this JVC/FCP problem, so I can't comment on it. However, whoever shot the cutaways didn't do you, the editor, any favors.
I've been doing video since 1984, and I've got to say, anyone who shoots a scene that is only 5 or 6 seconds long on tape is making a huge mistake, and it's been that way since the beginning of computerized editing in the late 70s.
Shoot at least 5 seconds of pre-roll before the shot begins, then roll tape for at least 5 seconds after you've got the shot. That's the protocol I've followed for 22 years now. Tape is cheap, edit suite time isn't.
But laying down only 5 to 6 seconds for a scene is wrong, IMO.

  • Is There any way to make a JVC GZ-HD7 compatible with Final Cut Pro X

    Hi
I have a JVC GZ-HD7AA and i need it to work with my New Macbook Pro and a 30 day trial version of Final Cut Pro X
Is there any way this will work?
i have tried it with imovie and it wouldn't work either. If it could just work with one of these programmes i would be happy.
Thankyou in advance for any responses.

I know nothing about the camera other than what I have just read.
It looks as though this may be one of the cameras whose maker thinks they're cleverer than anyone else and develops a non-standard video format that cannot be edited properly.
If you can copy the video files to your desktop, download MPEG Streamclip and use it to convert the files to ProRes 422.

  • Is the JVC SR-DVM700 compatible with Macs and Final Cut Studio HD?

    Hello all.
The company I work for is seriously thinking about purchasing the JVC SR-DVM700 next week (based on my recommendations). What I have discovered however is that there are very little user reviews and even less info on whether it is compatible with Final Cut Studio HD. Everything I have found 'seems' to indicate that it will work but I need a definite answer. The lack of user info makes me a little nervous.
    Here are my questions:
If this system is incompatible, what would be a good alternative within the same price range?
What (if any), are the problems that crop up while using it and are they easily fixed?
What are your general thoughts on the system?
I really like the idea of a MiniDV, DVD and hard drive all in one machine but I need more info in case I need to put the brakes on this purchase.
    Thanks for all your help.
Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   1.5 GB DDR SDRAM (working on getting more)

This is a FCP HD, but no Final Cut Studio HD
My guess is that you are trying to run FCP 4.5 HD on an Intel Mac.
It isn't reliable even if you could install it.
You need FCS2 -- at the upgrade price.

  • I can't not transfer files in 'log and transfer' of Final Cut Pro. I recorded it in SD card using Nikon D7000 and JVC GY-HM100U.

I can't not transfer files in 'log and transfer' of Final Cut Pro. I recorded it in SD card using Nikon D7000 and JVC GY-HM100U.
I think I need plug-in.  Please let me know.  Thank you.

Well, the Nikon D7000 footage cannot be logged and transferred.  There is no plugin for that like there is for the Canon cameras. Nikon never developed one.  So the footage from that camera will need to be converted with Compressor or MPEG STREAMCLIP.
The JVC should work...what version of FCP are you on?
