JVM Error 102

My phone has got a white screen with JVM Error 102 showing.  I have tried rebooting, taking battery out and leaving etc but not worked.  Apparently I can link up my phone using usb to laptop and do a fix but I am unsure how to go about this.  Can anyone help?

  • Please HELP -- JVM Error 102

    Hello,
I just joined the forum because a friend suggested I try this support group to get help with the JVM Error 102 before I wipe my phone (Curve 8330).
Earlier today I noticed my phone was not ringing or vibrating on incoming calls.  Tech support for Sprint told me to remove battery and then the JVM Error 102 started and now the phone will not turn on at all.
Tried the JL_Cmder and get message it is not batch file. I did not see any ".cod" files.  The line before the error in the event log is "verifyHash failed for net_rim_bb_phone_model(1801)" and sometimes it is without the "(1801)".  Yes several lines in the log have "JVM Error 102".
Please help.  Of course I haven't backed up for the past two weeks, too busy making appointments on my calendar for my new project.  HELP!!!
    Thank you,
    M

  • "JVM error 102" message

This is the message that I woke up to on my Blackberry 8830 a week or so ago.  I've been trying to find someone who knows how to open it up so I can sync my phone with a new one and NOT lose my 2580 + contacts.
Does anyone know how to do this???
    If so, please respond.
    Thx.

  • Error 102 - Please help!

    Hi There -
I'm trying to fix my Fiancees phone Torch - 9810 (he's a bit technically challenged!) and have been running JL_Cmnder. I've followed processes outlined in other threads (running the javaloader.exe -u erase -f FILENAME commands) but am still coming up with the error code.
Below is my latest event log. I've highlighted the Error Code line in red font for easy viewing. Can anyone shed some light as to what my next steps are? I'm not sure what +BORK is - but if I try to erase it, it comes up as an invalid handle. I want to avoid wiping the phone, so I was really hoping that this would work! You should also know that I'm running on Windows 7 64-bit.
Looking forward to hearing back from someone on this. PS - please ignore the smiley faces...although most of them are pretty accurate to how I'm feeling right now! ha!

    Error list is bigger.
    Thank for any help.
    Daniel

Your only hope is to try and restart the device in safe mode.
Remove the battery. While holding the back key, reinsert the battery. Continue to hold the back key for another 20 seconds. See if the device will start up.
If it doesn't start up then you'll have to reload the OS and anything in the device memory is gone. sorry.

    Hi rahulharidas88
So your problem is not yet  solved  !  Have  you tried What Krypto suggested on your previous thread ? bb 9320 showing error 102 on updating .
If possible please  remain on the same thread rather then creating new , Try this and let us know of your progress :
    ( Credit JSanders )
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
    Please try it again .
Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.
If Problem Resolves mark the post(s) as " Solution ", so that other can make use of it.

  • JVM ERRO 102 RESET FAILED

  • Error 102 showing on phone but cant back up data

After trying to download an app today I was told on screen that i would have to update the app world software. I tried to do this by following the on screen instructions but have received a message on screen stating ' error 102 please reload software' The phone wont reboot and when I connect to Blackberry desktop it cant connect to my phone and says I need to download the latest version of the device software for it to connect. It also says i will loose all my data if i do so and of course I cant back it up in the usual way as it cant read my phone data.
It seems im stuck in a dead end unless im prepared to loose all my data. Is there any way around this so I can back up the data somehow ?
    thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB10068 "JVM 102" error is displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
Unfortunately, with that error, it is highly likely that your data is already gone from your device...hence, a backup would be irrelevant. Regular backups, like insurance, are neither a reactive nor an optional activity.
Good luck and let us know!
Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!
If anyone has been helpful to you, please show your appreciation by clicking the button inside of their post. Please click here and read, along with the threads to which it links, for helpful information to guide you as you proceed. I always recommend that you treat your BlackBerry like any other computing device, including using a regular backup schedule...click here for an article with instructions.

  • Urgent Help, Got code error 102, can't connect with BB Desktop software

I have the message on the screen error 102 reload software and go to BB website plus /102.
I have followed the instructions but it was mainly asking to verify software latest update. Can't do nothing if my 9810 can't be seen when connected to my home computer with BB desktop manager
To reload the sofware in my phone, I should first, get a cenection between PC and phone I guess, and download from RIM or BB website.
Is anybody here has experimented same error code 102 and remember how it was solved..
Thanks and hope a fast reply, it's so nice weather outside...

  • 9810 Torch Error 102

I have a Torch bought directly from RIM and I'm getting an error 102 white screen on boot up. I'm looking for the RIM version of the OS to restore it as the desktop software is telling me there are no updates available when I try the restore process.
My present carrier for this phone is TSTT but I want the original OS that came with the phone as I travel with the phone and don't want it locked to any carriers.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You have some misunderstandings there, so let me try to give you some correct information.
First -- BlackBerry directly distributes no OS packages to end users. I don't know what was on your BB when you procured it, but that is actually irrelevant. Even if there were some non-carrier-wrapped OS package that it had, there is no source to obtain that after market. All OS packages are solely available via the official download portal. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Second -- the installed OS has nothing to do with a BB being locked to a carrier. You can use any carriers OS on any BB, as long as it's for the exact same model number. Nothing about the OS package locks a BB to any carrier. Only the MEP status does that:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Unlocking-your-BlackBerry-Gu...
Third, there is no way to tell you what OS came with your BB...no one here, on this user-to-user community, was party to your purchase transaction...and, therefore, has no access to such information.
OK...with those pre-ambles out of the way, let's go one thing at a time:

Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.

I assume you mean the OS loading process? The restore process is totally different from the OS loading process, and the OS package has nothing whatsoever to do with restore.
From what you describe, you are using the automatic method. It is best, therefore, to override that and take control of exactly what OS is installed to your BB. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Option -splash and -Xmx result in "Unable to launch JVM" error

    Hello everybody,
we have a severe problem with launching our Java application using the "-splash:" and "-Xmx" command line options for which we cannot find any solution in the web. Our application needs a lot of heap space, so we usually set "-Xmx=920M". Usually, we are working with Java 6 and use the "-splash:" option to show a splash screen while the application is loading. In some cases, we get an "Unable to launch JVM" error now. This happens only on particular customer systems (servers as well as desktop machines) and the only solution is to decrease the maximum heap size for a couple hundred megabytes. The latter is usually unacceptable since our application requires a lot of heap memory and the machines do have more than sufficient memory. The other option is to completely remove the "-splash:" option, but then there is of course no splash screen anymore.
Unfortunately, we are unable to track the error back and to figure what exactly is going wrong. Does anyone of you have any hints how to debug or analyze the error? Our assumption is that something is wrong due to memory partitioning which leads to unsufficiently large memory partitions to allocate the required heap memory by the JVM.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much.

It is already hard for you to diagnose such an occurrence, I wouldn't expect anything more by asking in a forum. At least you have SOME way of doing some more diagnosing.
I'm sorry, but you'll have to dive in deep. Figure out what update versions of Java the failing machines are running. Which OS. Which processor architecture. Etc. See if there is a common factor involved. If not, hunt through release notes of newer JDKs to see if any of them mention something related to the splash screen and if you find something, let the client attempt an update of the JDK on such a failing machine to see if the problem is remedied. If it is windows, try running with the server VM (java -server) in stead of the default client VM, if you are not already doing that.
And yeah if all that fails and nobody else has something to add, I'm sorry to say that Oracle support will be your next logical step.
