It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

  • CNA 6 InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message

I ran CNA 5.5 up until last week when Java 7 71 update hit. When I tried to launch, I received JVM Not Found, that was all. So I figured it was time to install CNA 6, however during the install process I now get a pop up box stating  InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message. No other error messages, no logs, and the installation ceases. Tried installing CNA 5.8.9.1, and CNA 5.5 again, all stop at the same point with the same message. Anyone else see this issue?

When you start Network Assistant, Java determines whether the resources it needs are available. If they are not, Java displays the message Could not create Java Virtual machine, and the session ends. To overcome this problem, open the file C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Network Assistant\startup\startup.properties (the default installation path), and modify this entry:
    JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=1024m
Replace 1024m with a lower setting that does not exceed the available RAM. There is no way to foresee what value will work. Try 512m , and lower it further if necessary. You can use the dial peer tag range 2500 to 2999 out-of-band to define your own dial peers.
If the Network Assistant InstallShield wizard fails to start, it is likely that the temporary folder location defined through the environment variables TMP and TEMP has some problem. Assigning a correct temporary folder location can fix such problems.

  • THE SUN JVM IS NOT INSTALLED

when i open a page with java on it, it is not viewable. instead, i get this error message: THE SUN JVM IS NOT INSTALLED: CLICK TO INSTALL
so i click to install, but download is 108MB. i was told by a friend that all i need is a 14MB download, but dont know how to find it.
another friend told me that i need J2SDK, but that's a 165MB download. then i emailed Sun, and they said i just need JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE and not J2SDK, but when downloading JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE, i get JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT SE v 1.4.2_06 with 108MB.
    other things i tried downloading:
-J2SE SDK which is supposed to be 14MB and i keep getting JAVA2RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT SE v1.4.2_06 which is 108mb.
    j2re-1_4_2_xx-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe.
    -J2SDK SE v 1.4.2_06 by clicking:
For Windows, choose "Windows Online Installation" for the quickest download and installation on a machine connected to the Internet. The default download size is 48.6MB, which is the maximum download. The size may decrease if features are deselected, to a minimum of 14.3MB.'
but what downloaded was not 14MB, it was 165MB.
I need java only for viewing certain parts of pages, nothing more, so 165MB seems crazy. i try to install only certain parts by checking 'do not install this now', but it gets installed anyway. there seems to be no way to only install a portion of the download. and the strangest thing is that i once had java, so where did it disappear to?
how can i just get the 14 mb download. i've tried EVERYTHING.
can anyone help? i've spent HOURS being challenged by this.

you just solved the problem, caffeine! you're the man (or gal) !!!!!
i clicked on: Online Installer and downloaded: http://jdl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=9811
which is now (in properties on the install icon), noted as j2re-1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p-iftw 1.35 MB.
FYI: add/remove programs still says 108MB.
i'm still having a bit of trouble understanding this concept (could be my ADD) so to clarify...you saying that Add Remove Programs contains only an estimate of the size of an install program after installation, not the download size. i just assumed they were the same size. An install program is usually compressed. During installation, files inside the install program are uncompressed and copied to the appropriate locations on your hard drive , meaning that even tho i am downloading something of 1.35MB, those 1.35MB are compressed, and so when i uncompress them (by installing them on machine) the file size is increased? how can 1.35MB increase to approx. 108MB? and in the end, is this taking up 1.35MB or 108MB on my hard drive. (you say 108 is an estimate. but 1.35 is so different than 108, what kind of estimate is that?)
    and finally,
    - why do some friends have this noted as 14MB in THEIR add/remove programs.
    - why do i have 1.35 and not 14MB (which is what most people have).
Most of the files for the JRE are copied to C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_06. If you want to see the size of that folder and its contents right click on the folder (j2re1.4.2_06) and select properties. when i go to the actual folder, it says 33.7 MB. now i'm doubly confused as i thought it was 1.35MB.
By the way I believe you have downloaded and installed the JRE 1.4.2_06. yes i have, but i dont think i need the whole Java Runtime Environment just to view apps, do i? whenever i click on a download (like yours, for instance) the link leads to download of JRE 1.4.2_06. how can i get rid of what's not needed. again, i only need JAVA TO VIEW JAVA APPS.
are you exhausted yet??? (sorry, i really am trying to understand this).
    thanks soooooooooo much caffeine!

I am getting error that JVM not Found.
Kindly help me , what I am missing.
    thanks

The release date has slipped. We've found some issues which must be fixed before we can release on Windows. Hopefully we will have it soon.
I understand that there is a high level of anticipation. I appreciate everyone's patience.

  • "jvm not found" on tunes transfer install----PLEASE HELP

hey all! very new to mac ownership (been using my new pro for only a few hours now!) and im trying to install tunes transfer to get all my jams from my pod to my new machine, but i keep getting the "jvm not found" error. how can i correct this?? im not very technical so if anybody could explain this to me in the simplest way possible i would greatly appreciate it! thanks in advance!
    -John

The only Tunes Transfer I can find is a Windows app, but assuming you've found a Mac version somewhere...
The error means it can't find your installation of Java. My first guess would be that TT is looking for an older version of Java than the one that's installed on MacOS X these days.
Since moving music from iPods back to computers is not supported by Apple, I won't recommend any alternative applications by name. But you might try googling for iTunes spelled backwards

Another method to solve this problem:
    0. Be sure you have not installed another JVM which version is less than 1.2 on your machine.
    1. Copy all files & folders on the installation CD into a temporary folder
    2. Search all symtjit.dll in that folder & its sub-folders
    3. Rename all found files to another name, like symtjit.dl~
    4. Run the setup program in that folder
    Good luck!

  • 9i Lite - JDK 1.3 is not installed on Your system

OK... so I installed J2SE SDK 1.4.0 on the system but still it won't continue to install the database. Does this only work with the JDK 1.3 or is there any other solution to this message? Do I just have to not install a repository, or won't it have any effect on this error?

I'm getting exactly the same problem.
By default I have J2SE SDK 1.4.0 on my path & classpath. As soon as I attmept to run msql I'm told:
'Unable to create JVM. You need jre/jdk 1.3.1 or higher'
Even when I change my path & classpath to point to the JDK 1.3.1 executables & jar files I still receive this error message.
Can somebody please tell me what I'm missing?
    thanks

  • Javascript not installed when using UTL_HTTP.

I'm using UTL_HTTP to return the contents of an external webpage.
When I hit the page using Firefox or IE, and "view source", I can see the required content, but when using Oracle, it shows the "noscript" tag, as though javascript is not installed in Oracle. I installed the JVM, bit it still doesn't work.
What am I missing here ?

To add to Michael's comments - there is no web browser rendering engine in Oracle. It makes no sense to have one as where will it render on? This is server side. Not client side.
And even if you ignore these client-server fundamentals and argue that the it should render (somehow) the response it get - there is no canvas/display device of any sorts to render anything on. Especially not something so generic and so virtual that will work on every single platform that the Oracle PL/SQL server process runs on.
Okay, so having established that there is no sense to perform client (browser) rendering inside Oracle and that is not feasible, nor sensible too... just what do you expect UTL_HTTP to do with Javascript it gets?
Do realise what the purpose and aim of Javascript is within the web architecture? It is a scripting language that is executed inside the web browser client. Quote "The primary use of JavaScript is to write functions that are embedded in or included from HTML pages and interact with the Document Object Model (DOM) of the page". As there is no HTML rendering engine inside Oracle, there is no HTML DOM either.
Even if you implement one, how would you handle the interactive nature of Javascript (like AJAX, opening new windows, etc)?

Reviewing the preceding posts, I saw the suggestion to remove a java folder in c:"Program Files ..."
Imagine my surprise to discover that there was such a folder on my system after my uninstalls of java using Revo Uninstaller.
There were also java executables in the windows, System32, SysWOW64 subfolders.
After I again uninstalled the jdk 64 bit, I deleted all folders that seemed to contain java
When I reinstalled jdk 64 update 24 to c:\s\java, I was again not asked where to install the jre.
Inspecting the folder tree at c:\s\java I can see c:\s\java\jre but no folder c:\s\java\jre6
However, after this install I am able to execute the java command without seeing an error.
I don't think I'm fully functional yet because an attempt to start eclipse 3.6 (Helios) gives an immediate error windows "Failed to load the JNI shared library "c:\s\java\bin\..\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
Since the file c:\s\jre\server\jvm.dll does exist, I'll try re-installing eclipse.

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

But when I go to check if it's installed:
    $ pacman -Q | grep jdk
    jre7-openjdk 7.u21_2.3.9-4
    jre7-openjdk-headless 7.u21_2.3.9-4
    $
The JREs are there, but the JDK is not. So somehow it's installed and not installed at the same time. How do I tell pacman that the installed package is not installed when it says it's both installed and not installed? Pacman -Rdd does not work as it's not installed. Pacman -S doesn't work as it's installed.

Thank you very much for your help. I greatly appreciate it. I only use pacman to upgrade, update, or remove anything. Even if the package is from the AUR; in which case I use the -U. In this case, I tried to install the JRE, JRE headless, and the JDK at the same time. All of the tanked, so I used the pacman -Rdd to remove the JDK package. That's when the trouble started.
If it's safe to use the --force command in this case, I'll try it.
    **UPDATE**
Looks like using the --force option worked. When I run the previous command, I get:
    $ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/appletviewer
    /usr/bin/appletviewer is owned by jdk7-openjdk 7.u21_2.3.9-4

Thanks again for the help! I'll mark the thread 'solved'.

  • Check JVM is installed during deployement

Please, i want to prepare the installation for my project by using inno setup and i want to check whether JVM is installed or not on PC during the program installation

Also you can use the web browser to check the JVM and its version on the machine. It will also check whether the JVM is running properly or not.

  • Ipod 5th Generation 80 GB / Device Manager / Driver not Installed / Code 28

Well, where do I begin! Got my 1st Ipod 2 days ago & still unable to use it! I have installed & uninstalled the itunes 7 software numerous times. On phone w/ Apple for 1 hour...followed by online chat help w/ Dell.
I've tryed 4 different USB ports on my computer. The device Manager shows the Ipod w/ a ? and a ! in yellow. The add new hardware tells me, "Drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28." My computer reconizes that the ipod is plugged in, but will not do anything. There is no communication between the 2. Keeps telling me to insert cd for software for ipod.
Help! Does seem that other people are having similar issues. I think a software cd should of been provided w/ the ipod....not sure if that would of corrected my problem.

    Hi,
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. the Run dialog appears,
    Type %temp%, then click OK.
locate and enter into the HP Installation temporary folder, start with the 7Z characters.
If you can see several folders starting with 7Z, locate the latest one.
Click the Address bar area, then the full address path will appear,
Copy the full path location by clicking CTRL + P while the path is selected.
    Enter the Device Manager.
Right click the printer name with the error mark, then click Update Driver.
Select the second option to manually locate the driver.
Paste the temporary folder path and click Next (Keep Include Sub Fulders marked), the driver should be updated.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi
