JVM parameters in MANIFEST file

I deployed my Swing app in a JAR file wih the following manifest file:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Created-By: 1.4.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Main-Class: MainApplication
Class-Path: . jarfile1.jar ................ jarfilen.jar
Everything is ok except I don't know how to specify the following JVM parameters: -Xmx256M -Xms128M -Xss1M. Can someone help me, please ?
Thanks in advance

Probably these parameters ( -Xmx256M -Xms128M -Xss1M ) must be specified in the properties of the link that launch java -jar yourJar...

  • Jvm parametrs with .jar file?

    Hi,
Just made a .jar file which is executable. I have the following manifest file
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Name: src
    Main-Class: main
    Sealed: true
Does anybody know how to set jvm parameters? I need to set -Xmx.
    thanks

how do you do that? I was thinking about using a
batch file but it doesnt look very good.Create a shortcut (I hope you know how to do that). Right click on the shortcut and select Properties; Shortcut Tab (Win2K/XP I'm assuming). Add the arguments there. The same as you use from command line, except that you call javaw instead of java.
I guess that should work for you!

  • Problem with manifest file and Plateau LMS

I have published a course with a quiz in SCORM 1.2 and tried
to upload to a Plateau LMS.
It seems that a "page cannot be found" message is the result
after upload and we try to launch the course. The course works
outside the LMS (when run locally on my computer).
The Plateau LMS support team tried to help, and found the
following: "There is something wrong with this manifest, though I
cannot ascertain what that is exactly. Most of the file name is in
the parameter field, which is causing the launch path to look like
    this:
    /content/apmm/cbcgis/mars/BRTMAIN/MARS?BRT%20Maintenance%20Template_%2020080226.htm=
Everything in the parameters field is placed after the
filename in a URLencoded querystring after the question mark that
you see above. it should look like this:
    /content/apmm/cbcgis/mars/BRTMAIN/MARS BRT Maintenance
    Template_ 20080226.htm"
Can anyone please help resolve this, or have any advice?
This is the first time we have tried uploading Captivate
courses to this LMS, and we have been having problems with the
manifest file in general. I have looked at all the material I can
find on publishing and the manifest file, but cannot seem to
    resolve my issue.
    Thanks
    Warwick

    Warwick,
I have had this error with an Authorware set of SCORM files
when my LMS was looking for index.htm and I had named it index.html
    - you wouldn't think that would cause an error but it did. I would
be more than happy to package a Captivate file of just a few
screens that works on my LMS (which is Learn.com's Learning
Center), and send you the SCORM files to test... That could be a
start anyhow. I will send you a private msg. with my e-mail
    id.

  • Problem of  loading the Manifest file

    Hello Friends,
I have developed a project in J2SE.I am creating a JAR file of it but I am facing a problem in doing that. My Problem is The Manifest File I have created is not loading by the JVM. I have created the Manifest file which contains the following code:
    Main-Class: secl/Login
and save it with the name Login.mf in C drive where my project folder is also exists. Then run the following command:
    C:\>jar cvfm secl.jar Login.mf secl\*.class
    then, following error is shown:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: Login.mf (The system cannot find the file specified)
Then, I run the following command:
    C:\>reg query HKCR\jarfile\shell\open\command
Then, I received the following msg:
    ! REG.EXE VERSION 3.0
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jarfile\shell\open\command
    <NO NAME> REG_SZ "C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1_03\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*
I think this msg says my files association is wrong. What is the meaning of this msg? My JAR file is created but Manifest file is not loading and main class is not read. Please help me about this.
I am a self learner and there is no body here to help me.

    Hello Friends!
I have successfully created the JAR file of my project with the Manifest File including my Main Class. I had just gave the following command:
    C:\>jar cfm secl.jar Manifest.txt secl/*.class
and my jar file is created. But there is a problem, when I execute this jar file at command prompt by the following command:
    C:\>java -jar secl.jar
the following error msg is shown:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: secl/Login (wrong name: Login)
And also when I execute it by double clicking it then the following error msg dialog box is shown:
Could not find the main class.Program will exit!
As you suggested, I gave the main class path in Manifest file as:
    Main Class: secl.Login
but the same problem is still occurring.
How can I solve this problem? Please help me.

  • How to create a .f4m manifest files to play .FLV files

I typically use .f4v files for my on demand playback media files, however I converted a .mov to a .flv file...  How do I create a .f4m and .m3u8 manifest file that plays .flv files?  Below is the code I normally use for the .f4m and .m3u8 files.  This works great with .f4v files.  I also included my player code.  What am I doing wrong?  The only difference is I'm using a .flv that I didn't use the f4vpp cleaner on..  That shouldn't give me the parse error I'm getting.

to create a file in appl server you have to use open dataset and close data set..
    see the sample code
    REPORT zanid_test MESSAGE-ID zz .
    parameters:  FULLPATH(128) obligatory lower case
                          default 'E:\usr\sap\put\file.txt'.
*you change the appl sever path as per your config.
    DATA : BEGIN OF list_asc OCCURS 0,
            msg(300) TYPE c,
           END OF list_asc.
    start-of-selection.
    *---populating data
list_asc-msg = 'abcdefghijkl'. "your sample data
    append list_asc.
list_asc-msg = 'faagoaagiagig'. "your sample data
    append list_asc.
OPEN DATASET fullpath FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE.
    LOOP AT LIST_ASC.
          TRANSFER  LIST_ASC-MSG TO fullpath.
          CLEAR LIST_ASC-MSG.
    ENDLOOP.
    CLOSE DATASET fullpath.
now if you go to appl server , you will find that file in that specified path..
to create a directory yu can go to transaction AL11 and click the 'konfigurieren'button, you then you can specify the directory attibutes to create a directory
and to load a file from your loacl pc to appl server you can use transaction CG3Y also, instead of the abap code.
plz rewrad points if it helps you.

  • JVM parameters from Executable JAR

Is it possible to utilize JVM parameters when running an executable JAR?
I have an application that process a large amount of data. If I run the application from the command prompt I can use the JVM directive -mx512M to allocate 512MB of memory to the JVM.
Is there a way of doing the same thing when using an executable JAR?

In which way are you running a jar without a batch file?
If you want to make a Java App run with launching according to the operating system's style, unzip JAVA_HOME/src.zip and study the java.exe c source code. Start your own custom java.exe changing its name to yourapp.exe. You can then adorn it with all the things expected on a given operating system.

  • Setting JVM parameters....

    Hi SDN,
    <b>
I want to check the JVM parameters set for the portal.
The version of the portal is EP 6.0 SP19.
Where can I get the information?????
    </b>
    regards
    Brahmachaitanya

    Hi
You can change the JVM Settings in the ConfigTool.
Enter the "Java parameters" field for your desired input.
Save and restart the cluster and you are done!
You can also check by looking at the instance.properties file.
    Cheers.

  • WLS 6.1, SP2, Error Deploying WAR, Manifest file problem

    Hi,
When I moved to SP2 on 6.1, I am getting a new error while deploying a war file.
It looks from the stack trace that there is a problem with my manifest file, but
I am just taking the manifest file created by jdk1.3 jar utility - My META-INF

start of the line below the blank line. I mention this in case that is the EOF,
and relevant to the problem. Any help is much appreciated.

I figured out what was causing this for me. Apparently, the new Manifest reader
classes in WLS SP2 are a lot pickier ( polite way of saying they dont handle exception
cases very well ;-) ). I had 2 third-party jar files in my WEB-INF/lib directory
whose manifests had issues that the Manifest reader could not handle. One of
them was a header line that wrapped and the other had extra lines at the end of
the file. I had to unjar them, fix the manifests, and re-jar them. the server
    started up fine after that.
It might be nice if they provided a better error message than "String Index Out
Of Bounds: -1" for this problem, but hey, you can't have everything because where
    would you put it :)

  • Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found

Greetings. I am new to UPK and am seeking guidance on an upgrade to 11.1.
A little background on what we are trying to do:
    We have two machines:
    Windows 2003 machine in domain 'X' | UPK 11.0.0.1.
Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine in domain 'Y' | UPK 11.0 on the new machine first, install the 11.0.0.1 patch, and then upgrade to 11.1.
We are using the same database as the old machine. Developer Server is Standard Authentication, Knowledge Center is Windows authentication.
    ==========================================================================================
So far we have installed 11.1 with the respective database upgrades, but are lost as to how to migrate the old Content Root data. We have copied all the content to the new Content Root, added it to IIS like the old machine, and verified that the UPK database Content Root path is correct and working.
For the rest of the post, I am remoted into the server from my local workstation, and then using IE to access KCenter on the server's FQDN, not via localhost.
Since I am green, so I presumed that I would need to import the titles under Manager in KCenter. I zipped each content folder individually (they are named "1", "9", etc), and then attempted to import each zip file.
NOTE: At this stage sometimes we are prompted to authenticate again. When it does, sometimes the credentials that we know work, get rejected and we are prompted again. This will repeat until we get a 401 and we have to start over. We have verified that the Windows account currently in session with the site is valid and has administrator authority within KC.
NOTE2: On the first few tries, .NET complained that maxRequestLength was not large enough. I had our servers team increase it on the actual server in order for us to proceed.
Provided we don't have to authenticate again, or that it actually accepts our credentials, we get to the 30% mark and then receive the error: *"Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found"*
Does anyone have any wisdom for this process? The title importation section in the deployment manual is not helping, and the administrator from whom I am taking over this software has not had to deal with this before.
    Thank you,
    Ian

Hi Marc, thanks for the post,
I have gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with Oracle, including their development team, in order to fully complete our project setup. As a supplemental bit of information, we also were having connection errors when attempting to publish directly to the knowledge center.
As far as the context of this post, here is the solution in brief:
    1) Verify that the package being imported was published from the same version of the Developer Client as the Knowledge Center installation's.
    2) Check for database consistency issues. In our case we were using a database that was built in another domain. After numerous attempts with Oracle support on the line to determine the inconsistency, it was decided to completely reinstall and build a new database from scratch in the new domain.
    3) Check application pool identities and access (while we had some inconsistencies here, correcting them did not change the behavior of the import/publish errors)
In review, a lot of what we had setup was correct. Our primary point of failure, we feel, was using the old database. Technically this should not have been a problem, but Murphy likes to get his way sometimes.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Need help with a manifest file

I'm trying to make a jar file executable, and I've seen numerous questions and answers regarding this particular issue, and none of them helped me with my problem.
I have a batch file that runs the application without any problem, but when I try to create a manifest with the main class attribute copied char by char from my batch file and run it, I get a message "could not find the main class".
I been browsing the web for the past 4 hours* now and the only type of answers I see for that problem is something like this:
    ...Main-Class... "${main.class}".
This type of solution is worthless to me, since it doesn't tell me why my path is correct when I use the .bat file and incorrect when used in a .jar file.
    Thanks,
    Omer.

I read there the related topics.
However, it wasn't even close to being helpful.
I'm using ant and the inner build.xml syntax is probably eluding me somewhere.
In fact, if it was possible to find an example build file that was written for ant 1.6 or later and contains the Main-Class attribute (I've seen some examples that contain an example file, but none of them contained the Main-Class attribute, and I found some Main-Class examples but none of them showed where they should go or how they should appear within the manifest file.
I'm at the point when I'm about to give up the whole idea and provide the unprofessionally looking .bat file.
I thank anyone who has put his mind to this issue, but if there is no build.xml example, I guess you can't help me.
    Thanks anyway.
It's frustrating to see how the most flexible language there is to work with when coding, becomes next to impossible to work with when you need to deploy it.
    Update, 30.04.2008:
I have managed to figure out that the problem wasn't with the main class, but with the classpath.
I run the program from Intellij, and everything works perfectly. I use a batch file, and perfect. I try to use an Ant generated jar with the classpath attribute set exactly like the batch file's paths, and nothing.
There is no error message either.
The classpath is located under "/lib/*.jar" in the distribution directory, where the "program.jar" is located.
I have come to the point that i would pay to see a proper working build.xml and to see the relative and absolute paths of the classpath.
This is actually harder than developing an extremely rich server application.

  • Powershell: How do I upload files with metadata from a manifest file?

I am using the script from this blog to try to upload files into SharePoint, using a manifest file to specify the metadata associated with each file. Right now, the script works, but is not populating
the metadata from the manifest (xml) file. When I write the $metadataManifest variable out to the console, I get the contents of my xml file, so the code is reading the file when it should. However when it gets to the line in bold ($metadataManifest.Columns.Column),
it does not go into that block...it just skips on to checkin the file. Again the $metadataManifest variable shows all the content in my xml manifest file. Here is what the script looks like...
#Get web and document library objects
    $web = Get-SPWeb "http://companySite"
    $Library = "My Library"
    $docLibrary = $web.Lists[$Library]
    $ManifestFilePath = "C:\PowerShellScripts\Manifest.xml"
    $LocalPath = "C:\Upload\Test Upload\My Upload Directory\"
    if ($ManifestFilePath)
    $metadataManifest = (Get-Content ($ManifestFilePath))
    write-host "Manifest file: " $metadataManifest

    Hi Spawn,
Name should not be a problem.. I will probably post you the entire code (I modified it to meet your goals for having multiple column xml nodes as well)
    For the code snippet below:
    a. In powershell all my changes will have ## prefixed comments
    b. in XML I have changed one column name to "Name" to replicate your case and also added a parent node for making the xml well formed.
    and the SharePoint output
    Please see the code below

  • How to put chinese character in the Manifest file

    Hi,
I want to know that how can we put chinese characters in the manifest file. Please suggest a solution.
    Regards

[slightly confused stuff removed]Sorry, AmitChalwade123456, I know trolling can be very funny, but you're confusing the sh*t out of newbies with this almost-seems-usefull kind of talk.
    Stop that.
And in case you really meant that seriously: Please refrain from giving advice with regard to encoding. What you posted is wrong (to put it mildly).

  • Target Directory & File Name parameters in Receiver File Adapter with ASMA

    Hi Experts..
    I have the following question....
What am I suppose to inform in the Target Directory & File Name obligatory parameters in Receiver File Adapter if I am using ASMA to fill it? Is it any dummy value?
Also, if you have any step by step guide/blog to forward on how to use ASMA in file adapter I will be greatful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniela

You can give any dummy value in dir and file name... Just go through these blogs

  • Help using manifest file classpath.

I have a jar file (A) that is dependant on another jar file (B). When I run my app, which references jar A, if it doesn't also include jar B in its class path I get an error referencing jar B (as expected)
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/io/FileUtils
But if I add the following to jar A's manifest file:
    Class-Path: E:\commons-io-1.1.jar
if get an error referencing jar A
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: utilities/gui/ExitApplicationProducer

Ok, now I have "Class-Path: .\commons-io-1.1.jar"...That's still Windows-specific. If you want it to be relative to the referring jar, then simply specify commons-io-1.1.jar without the windows-specific path notation prefixing it.

    Hi,
We are working in an old project which was developed in PowerBuilder 5.0,
We followed the below steps to get the list of DLL and OCX getting register with our Application
    1. Searched in application installation path.

Is there any other way to get the list of components and reference list?
We need the above list to create manifest file.
We have another big challenge that whether Manifest file is work with PB5 or not? If yes,how to make PB5 app to communicate with manifest?
