we are planning for servelet based connection , we have 200 users who are concurrenly accessing our applications
as servelet connections will be based on jvms , so how many jvms needs for the smoot accesing or performce and how can we increase the jvms in oracle 11i.

H/w requirements for DIrectory server for 200,000 users

I would like to implement Directory services for 200,000 users. How can I know whether iPlanet Directory 5.1 will support this many users or not? If supports, Which h/w I have to use?

The directory server can handle many more users than 200K. The hardware requirements calculations are amply explained in the book "Solaris and LDAP Naming Services" by Bialaski. If you have iPlanet support contract they can provide you tuning information which includes this info.
You should remember the possibility of growth and load in terms of number of clients and peak requests per second. With your needs, my gut feeling is that even a Netra can host it. However, if it's an enterprise service you may want to go with at least 220 machines in a replicated configuration for load balancing and availability.

Running Apps 11i on Linux with 200 concurrent users

Is there anybody out there running a large apps 11i installation (with the
database and middle tier) on Linux ?
We are currently running 11.5.9 Apps with a 9.2 database on Sun kit but I'd
like to investigate Linux/Intel as we are planning to replace our hardware.
We have about 200 concurrent users, with a total of 1800 registered users, using
Financials, i-Procurement and HR.

Having worked extensively on Linux, its true that is is limitied in 32 bit mode to addressing a few GB of memory for each application (It is at least better than windows with its 2/3GB limit), although you can play around with it and memory windows to get more out of it for the database tier.
We have used 1 * 6650 with 8GB RAM running AS 2.1 DB Tier
and 2 * 2650 with 8 GB RAM ruuning AS 2.1 Apps Tier with conc mgrs too.
This was with 11.5.10 and it comfortabley supported 200 users. The servers were 2.8GHz Dual core Xeons. Redhat 3 or 4 would have been better becuase of a file cache issue on the database tier.
Also rememeber to consider Oracle licensing, A faster CPU might cost alot more but when oracle licenses are based on core/cpus then you may save alot more by having the highest power cpus u can (MHz rating not ness cores). Sun T2000 servers are quite nifty too if you want to stay with traditional unix kit but not want the price tag.
When workign at internally in Oracle We quoted one client a 3 * 4 CPU 6650 with 8GB in RAC config with 12 * 2 CPU 2650 with 4GB to support 5000 concurrent users. I wasnt convinced this would work at the time but the client had massively over estimated the number of users they would actually have so all was fine.
If I was doing this now I would go for a single 64bit DB tier with 4 CPUs and lots of memory, I would have lots of small8gb mid tiers 2850's, with a hard ware load balancer in front and a dedicated GB backend network. I would ony go for RAC if I needed the resiliance or had a large number of users e.g. 1000+
All in my opinion and I am in no way suggesting this as a solution for any other customers. Always perform a hardware siazing exercise in conjunction with your hardware vendor (remembering they always want you to buy more hadrware than u need).

What are the AM Tuning parameters need to be set for 500 concurrent users

We are using JDEVADF_11.1.1.5.0.
What are the exact AM parameters(Pooling and Scalability tab) to be set when we planned for 500+ concurrent users?
Along with this do we need to set any parameters at weblogic server level, if any please give inputs.
Any input's would be appreciated.

We can?t give you exact numbers as there are many factors influencing the performance. In hte end you have to make a load test to find the right set of parameters. Depends a great deal on what type of users they are. Simply running reports? Should be manageable. All performing complex modelling - more of a problem.
And of course it depends a large deal on your supporting infrastructure as well! How many interactive processes can your server handle?
But back to planning, if these are all planning users - not just reporters - perhaps the biggest issue will be planning level design such that so many users are not locking each other constantly.
Be aware that locks are defined by the package definition that a user executes a layout or function against, and locks stay in place until the users ends his/her planning session - which means exiting a planning FOLDER or correctly existing the web application.....

A lot is going to depend on the type of setup you require. How many servers you will split this up on. What your reports and forms are doing. How your datamodel is set up. How much data you have, etc.
Not sure there is a concise answer to that question.

Roles require for BI configuration user

I have done BI connection with our PRD ECC 6.0 server successfully , but while making RFC connections i used user with sap_all profile ,
Now i want to know which exact roles are required for that user to maintain successfull connection and extraction , as i have been asked to remove sap_all from the user which is used by me.
which are roles i should allocate to the user so that i can gurantee nothing happens to my current configuration.

Hi Ajit,
In SAP BW, you should create a system (not a dialog) user called BWREMOTE.
BWREMOTE should have the authorization profile S_BI-WHM_RFC.
Note: S_BI-WHM_RFC is a profile, not a role.
This profile will give user BWREMOTE the access needed to extract from an
OLTP system. The profile also provides the access required for staging steps
to get the data into InfoCubes.
On ECC system, you should create a system user called BWALEREMOTE. This user should have the authorization profile S_BI-WX_RFC.
Note: S_BI-WX_RFC is a profile, not a role.
This profile will give user BWALEREMOTE the access needed to connect and
send data to the SAP BW system.
(It is permissible to use a different name for the users BWREMOTE and BWALEREMOTE. What matters is that the user in SAP BW has the profile S_BI-WHM_RFC and the user in the other SAP system has the profile S_BI-WX_RFC.)

             i'm in the process of setting up a b2b solution based on CRM 7 (not full fledged CRM 7 only the internet sales component) for about 4500 - 5000 users. looking @ setting up a cluster with SAP Web Dispatcher based load balancing.
     the draft landscape is as follows...
1 DBCI Instance           16GB4CPU
1 SAP Web Dispatcher Instance     8GB+4CPU
4 App Server instances           6GB+2CPU on each node

Authorization Required for RFC user in R/3-APO system.

Could you please help regarding one authorization issue. I want to know the authorization required for one RFC user. Now this RFC user used for RFC connection of SAP R/3 - SAP APO system. user type is given dialog type and SAP_ALL profile has been given to this user id. Now I have to remove SAP_ALL from this user id in R/3 and APO system and provide the required the authorization in R/3 and APO system.

The RFC authorisation depends completely on what the user is doing (ALEREMOTE?). We can't tell you what RFC auths your connection requires.

For the concurrent users on VM - A maximum of 2 concurrent connections are supported, unless the server is configured as a Remote Desktop Services session host.
