Jw player pop up ads

I've noticed the last couple weeks this ad player was in background playing videos now it is in forefront and it is driving me crazy! I've reset Firefox, I've deleted and reinstalled but all the info for my bookmarks and things are still here even though I uninstalled ... I can't get rid of this problem! Now it is also affecting my Chrome browser today when I am trying to get rid of it on firefox. I have removed all add ons, extensions, etc and I still can't get rid of this damn player! I've also deleted flash player and adobe reader thinking it was flash based, that too did not work and now my system won't let me reinstall those programs. It all started on Firefox and has now spiraled and messed up more things on my computer.

Hello,
If it is affecting more than one browser, it is likely malware. Check your list of install programs in Windows - Control Panel > Programs and Features. Usually malware comes bundled with other applications, so if you sort by date and see several applications installed at the same day, it may be easier to find suspicious applications that way.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for Ad blocking? I'm getting a lot of pop up ads while using Facebook from Safari.

I'm getting a lot of pop up ads. mostly while using  Facebook. I'm running Safari on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite. Does anyone have any suggestions for an Ad blocker. I don't see anything in the App store.
I can't swear to it but I don't recall this being a problem pre-Yosemite. I could be wrong. I haven't been real active on Facebook until recently. I see some third party apps out there but am alway wary of non approved software.
         Thanks
         Ron

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Pop-up ads and non-functional links in Safari upgrade

I have recently upgraded my imac from OSX10.5.8 to OSX10.6 and have made all the necessary upgrades to be as current as I can, this means I now have OSX10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.7. However, everytime I use Safari I get several pop-up "sponsored ads" that appear in the bottom right-hand corner, even with the "block pop-up windows" box checked in preferences. Also, sometimes when I click on links, a new tab opens but nothing comes up (the address space is blank, these links work fine in Firefox), or the link will take me to an ad website, a search-engine website, or some other website that has nothing to do with the link I clicked on; when I go back and click the link again, it takes me to the right place. I tried using Firefox but the pop-up ads still appeared, so this is obviously not stricly a Safari problem. However, these problems were not there before I upgraded my software. Any thoughts? I have checked my extensions in preferences and I only have two: A DivX plus web player, and a Safari flash player.
    thanks in advance

They're not pop-ups. How do you expect any software to distinguish between the ad videos and the actual video you want to see?

  • Pop Up Ads on Border of Websites?

    Hello,
I have pop up ads that repeatedly appear around the border of many websites. I have ad blocked installed, and that removes the images, but the large black "hide ad" bar still appears, and clicking that brings on more pop-ups.  I hae run a virus and malware scan, and that turned up nothing harmful, so really it's just a nuisance.  If anyone has a solution, I'd be forever greatful. A picture of the problem is below.

You have installed the Downlite, aka VSearch, adware/malware. For more information and removal instructions, see:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-downlite/
Adware like Downlite is often found in groups - I've seen as many as 4 installed by one installer - so you'd be wise to search for any other adware using my Adware Removal Guide, and remove anything else you find.

  • I keep getting pop up ads on all my browsers since I installed mackeeper

I installed mackeeper yesterday thinking it was an apple-made app. Upon realising it wasn't I promptly uninstalled it following instructions online. I think I managed to delete the whole thing (using the uninstaller), but now I'm getting heaps of pop up ads even though all my block pop ups are activated. I don't even need to click a link and a random ad comes up. I've never had problems with ads popping up unless I'm on a free video streaming site (which I rarely am, and even after I leave those pages I don't get anymore ads popping up). So I think it's got to do with the stupid mackeeper app that was installed. Can anyone help me out? I'd rather not have to install anymore stuff to prevent pop ups when I've never had this problem in the past without needing an extra blocker app installed.
    Thanks in advance.

If  you do not want to  install additional software, use the method given by Apple.
Removing the adware manually by following the “HowTo” from Apple.

  • I am receiving a lot of pop-up ads on website pages. It has only recently started happening. They open new windows with ads for online gambling, online dating and other things. They are annoying and I want them shut off. Please help me

I have recently started seeing millions of pop-up ads on website pages. It is not something that normally happens. They open new windows with ads for online gambling, online dating among other things. I am growing sick and tired of these ads, and have tried multiple things. I have uninstalled and reinstalled software, I have blocked pop-up ads and unenabled Java script. I have tried everything I could find, but nothing has worked. I have even downloaded AdBlock and Clean Genius. Nothing has even remotely changed this annoying trait. I hope this can be a quick fix I can perform and not something that will have to be done by a tech-hand. Please, if you know anything about this issue, let me know how to fix it.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, you have installed malware by clicking on a pop up ad.

  • Why does the Adobe Flash Player pop up keep on appearing when using the browser. It never used to before the upgrade to the latest version.

Since updating to the latest version of Firefox the Adobe Flash player pop up continually pops up whether the page needs flash player or not. It even shows for a text page.
    It is very annoying

How can I remove highlighted words in safari? it also pop up ads when I move marker to these words. I am attaching a picture which shows clearly what i mean.
after every highlighted word it can also be seen a green symbol.
    waiting eagerly for your replu

From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Stop pop-up ads and pages

I have tried all suggested Privacy fixes to stop pop-up ads and pages. None seem to work. Virtually EVERYTIME I go to a specific webpage Firefox opens a second web page for some advertisement. Also, on these pop-up pages, as well as original, there are different pop-ups.
I hope to hear back with a definitive solution. Because I have tried everything suggested I am going to now uninstall Firefox. BTW, I do not have these problems with IE or Chrome.

  • Re: Windows Media Player- Pops Up

Hello, one little problem I can't fix.
Everytime I move my laptop the Windows Media Player pops up on the screen and I have to close it. Just makes a BEEP sound and there it is.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Semper Fi,
    Ed

    Hi,
Why not monitor the data flow of Windows Media Player using Resourse Monitor? follow as the photo below:
In Network part, check if you can find Wmplayer.exe and it takes up huge data flow.
As for me, Windows media player cannot download and upload pictures. All pictures showing in Wmplyaer is stored in Picture Library or C:\users\public\pictures\simple pictures. Please check where those odd photos are. I suspect you have set this path
    for web cache.
