JWS installed client application for all users on one PC

For a PC (or Mac), Can one install a client application using Java Web Start & JNLP for all users on
that particular machine? If so, how do you do it?

This is a new feature in the 1.5 version of Java Web Start (seperate system cache) see:

Normally, applications are installed in each users cache.

I would think the about:config entries discussed are ex-factory set to values each user has to change individually, after the installation has run its course. The solution could be to have patched files ready to install post factum:

Set default application for *all* users

Hello people, my 1st post here, so forgive me for possible imprecisions, ambiguity, inappropriateness....
When I search how to set/change the default app for opening some type of file I always find the answer "through the getinfo". But doing that, I only change the default application for the current user.
I want to do that for all users of my mac, without repeating the getinfo process for each of them.
Is there any adminstrative tools for doing that?

You could download and install RCDefaultApp 2.1 for all users: check the Read Me and then test it on something to see if it accomplishes what you want.

Install Add-ons for All Users

I'm looking for a solution to install an add-on for all users. Specifically, we're using the Symantec PKI client (https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/mpki-support/index?page=content&id=SO27063&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US). The current version, as seen in the support page, has to be installed manually. the problem is, every time new user logs into the system with the latest version of the PKI client installed, this webpage will pop up, annoying users. As a workaround to this issue, I'm looking to install the add-on linked in on the support page and have it enabled for all users by default.

Any assistance would be appreciated! The version of firefox that I attempted the solution in was version 35.0.1, but most of our systems are running in the ESR channel, version 31.4.0.

P.S. I've added the troubleshooting information, but my workstation is fairly unique, so I'm not sure if it'll be very applicable to most of the systems in our environment.

How do I startup an application for all users at login?

I know about launchd, but I want an application to start whenver a user logs in and run as that user. launchd stuff seems to run as root.
I would prefer to set this up to work for all users, but if that can't be done, just for the current user. I have an installer package and Id like to run this command to set this up from a bash script.

I found this bit of code which is very similar to something else I found.

That doesn't work. Anyone at all, even for a single user, how do I script a command to get an application to start when a user logs in under 10.8?

How to install an extension for "all users"

I want to install a quantity of extensions for ALL users of FF on a PC running XP. There used to be a way of doing this but I have forgotten the method.
I know to save the .xpi file for each extension, and that there is some folder in a common area where these files are placed so that each User gets them installed the next time they run FF

Install security updates for all users

I am using the a form with digital signatures fields, and when a user logs onto a pc and opens the form Adobe asks if you would like to install new security settings. I tell my user to click yes, but there are multiple users on multiple PCs that will be using this form. Is there a way to install this same setting for all users? I am using Adobe reader 9.3, and the form was deisgned with Designer. Any help would be very appreciated.

How do i enable office applications for all user accounts on the same machine?

Hi All,
I just purchased a new MBA and Office Hame & Business. Coming from the windows world I thought that one installation of office should be available to all accounts that I set up on the same machine. I set-up the user accounts then installed office 2011 for MAC and tried to access office from my daughters account -> can not locate office? Does MS expect that you need to purchase a separate copy of office for each user on the same machine?? I also don't want to waste precious harddrive space in the MBA to have separate copies of the same application installed.
Any help would be appreciated....

One install allows all your users to use Office. All your users have access to the Applications folder where the office apps are installed. Do you see the office folder from your daughters account in applications?

You can install it as many times as you want. Ensure that either the cluster-wide parameter or the device-specific parameter is set to allow phone personalization. After that, if it works for you it will work in general; don't forget to enter the CCMCIP server address in the client.

PO delivery date field to be made display for all users except one user

I have a specific requirement:
The delivery date field in PO should be made display only at the time of changing the PO. I know pretty well that this can be achieved thru Define Screen Layout at document level, which inturn will make this field disaply mode to all users.
But it should be in changeable mode only for one user. how can we achieve this.

Hi ,
You can create a authorization object(Z one) which can be assigned to the user id who need authorization of change .
In the exit , you can specify the logic that if SY-USER (current user) has the authorization id , the system will allow to change . If the user doesn't have the object in his roles , the system would not allow to change .
This will help in providing / removing access to any user id .

Installing Default Printer For All Users on Windows 7 Client PCs.

The printers are shared on a Windows Server 2012 and I need a way to install them on Windows 7 clients PCs. I have tried using :
RUNDLL32 PRINTUI.DLL, PrintUIEntry but the results were unreliable.
1. Is there a way to install a network printer shared on a Windows Server 2012 while logged on to the local Windows 7 PC domain as administrator?
2. What other methods would you recommend?

You can deploy the printer via GPP, make some configuratiosn for the printers, set this printer as default printer, then link the GPO to related OU or group which contains the user accounts that you want this printer available. after that, run
gpupdate /force to update the policy, you will see printer listed on your client.
