  • How do I get Itunes to automatically delete nonexistant songs???

How do I get Itunes to automatically delete nonexistant songs??? I am referring to the songs that remain on itunes after you change their name or directory or whatever. It takes too long to delete individual songs. Is there some sort of plug-in available? THANKS!!

10000 responses and you didn't know there was a script that does this?
It's a Windows specific script (not iTunes).
On a Mac, we just use Applescript to do this type of stuff. I'm surprised you didn't know this.

  • Itunes won't delete my songs!?

I used to keep my songs in two different folders but I just moved them all into the iTunes music folder so that I could delete files from the hard-drive whenever I wanted to. But now it's not giving me any prompt (you know the "do you want to remove from the library, or the library AND the computer" prompt) when I press delete, it is just taking them off the library and not the hard drive. This is way frustrating because the whole reason I moved all my music there was so I wouldn't have to go the "My Computer" route everytime I wanted to delete a song. I swear I moved my music into the required folder too. Has anyone else come across this problem? Does anyone know what to do>

This is what I had to do to delete a stubborn song:
redownload the song to your computer iTunes
    synch
delete song from your iPad (go to list of songs, and swipe right to left over the name of the song, then choose delete)
delete the song from iTunes on the computer
    synch again
my situation was a little different from yours, but you could give it a try

  • ITunes 11.1 deleted some songs?

    Hi,
I store my iTunes on an external hard drive because it is fairly large (approx. 20,000 songs). About a month ago, iTunes froze and restarted. When that happened, approximately 18,000 of the songs were no longer there. I searched through the hard drive and could not find them. I sent the hard drive off to be looked at by the company that made it (Seagate) because, immediately after this iTunes problem it began to not let me connect it to my computer.
Here is the odd part. Both before and after the iTunes problem, the drive claimed to have 1.3TB of data on it. I just received it back from Seagate yesterday and it still says 1.3TB of data. So, all my audio files ARE on there somewhere, I just cannot find them / see them. I've searched for files by name and get no results.
What could be causing this? Could the files be hidden somehow? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

having the same problem and its really p*ssing me off!, it seems everytime a plug in, it wipes new songs, ones that were fine the day before. i always update manually. once i have added the album to my ipod, i usually delete it from my itunes library (never had a problem before until I updated to 11.1) any ideas?
Mainly that you should always keep copies of all your media in your library, and back it all up. Managing an iPod via a selection of playlists is also, in my opinion, easier, and more powerful, than manual management. Should the device need restoring it is a simple matter to reselect which playlists should sync to it..

  • Where in itunes can i find my songs i converted to mp3 format?

I followed the steps to convert one of my playlists to mp3 format for a swimming device. I watched itunes convert it track, however I cannot find MP3 version.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Go into song view and do a search on the song title. Alternatively go to menu > view > show duplicates.
When you convert a track it goes into main library - does not stay in playlist.

    Hi rosehooker,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Make sure you are following these steps to delete the music from both your iPad and computer:
    On the iPad:
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
    On your computer:
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the song you deleted again (it depends on where you live). To delete a song:
    Launch iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
Click Songs in the navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
In iTunes 11, the album cover art will remain visible, but a cloud icon will appear on it to allow you to download the item again (in countries that support this).
Note: If you didn't purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you won't be able to download it again for free from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to back it up somewhere on your computer.

    Apple - iTunes - Match
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs.

  • How do I delete unauthorized songs from my iPad?

A friend of mine sent me songs a while back from his iTunes account. Now, whenever I play songs on my iPad, it asks for the password of his iTunes account to be able to play the songs he sent. I simply want to delete these songs and stop dealing with this headache.
I've tried several things that have not worked:
I restored the iPad from back up.
I checked "manually sync music and videos" in iTunes, had it sync no songs, and the songs still remain on my iPad but do not show up under "Music" on the device list under my iPad in iTunes.
I tried swiping the songs, but it won't let me swipe to delete on the iPad.
I deleted the songs from my iTunes library and resynced the iPad, but they still show up on my iPad.
Please help! I'm running out of ideas. I do not want to set up my iPad as a new device, as I have several apps with saved documents.
Currently, my iPad has only the songs that will not delete on them. They are not grayed out, but when I press them to play, I'm prompted for my friend's Apple ID password.

    I figured it out!
Basically, because I was restoring from an iCloud backup, iTunes wanted to download the songs from my friend's account, as well as my own collection.
So to prevent this, I deleted all the songs off my iPad, the grey songs were still there on hold to be downloaded, and backed up to my computer.
When I restored from back up, all my apps and settings were back in place, and I had no songs in my Music app, not even the greyed out ones.
Then, I resynced my iTunes music (after deleting the songs from my friend) and it no longer is trying to download those songs.
I've since gone back to syncing with iCloud and have not had any problems.

  • Can I save my photos from my iPhone to iCloud/iTunes, and then delete them from my iPhone to  free up space on my iPhone?I would  still like to keep them somewhere where they can  be accessed.

Can I save my photos from my iPhone to iCloud/iTunes, and then delete them from my iPhone to  free up space on my iPhone?I would  still like to keep them somewhere where they can  be accessed.

One option is to turn on iCloud Photo Library on the phone and go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and turn on "Optimize iPhone Storage." Then you don't delete the photo from the phone but it does occupy significantly less space. More information in iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support

  • HT1296 I've just bought a new laptop, how do I put my iTunes from my old computer on it in a way where nothing gets lost or deleted?

I've just bought a new laptop, how do I put my iTunes from my old computer onto my new laptop, in a way where nothing gets lost or deleted?

    or:
    Transfer iTunes purchases by:

    - Transfer othre music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Retain app data and other information, connect the iPod to yur computer and make a backup by right clciking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the Backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

  • IPhone deletes 400 songs from playlist and syncs that to iTunes

    Hi there,
I'm new on these forums, although I've been using iTunes (on a Windows PC) for many years.
I got an iPhone 4s, set it up to use iCloud and iTunes Match.
Now I chose to play a playlist (via Bluetooth) of about 500 songs randomly in the iphone. The phone downloaded the music via WLAN and played about 30 songs from that list. So far, so good.
Next day I realized in iTunes that only these 30 songs remain on this particular list - and the other 450 or so were gone.
I did change the list in iTunes prior to realizing this: I added an album, so it's these 30 songs + the new album.
Since I haven't used an iPhone before, I'm a bit lost as to where the error lies. Have I done something wrong? Is iTunes Match not working correctly?
Searching the web brought up many issues with iTunes Match, but nothing for this case.
Of course, I can give more info, if you need it. So, is there anyone who has an explication for this? Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Volker

On a Mac, use Option+Delete to:
Delete the selected playlist and all the songs it contains from your library
Delete the selected song from your library and all playlists
You can find all the keyboard shortcuts in the iTunes Help menu > Keyboard shortcuts.

  • HT204074 How do you delete a song off your ipad that is not listed on the itunes song list?

Some songs came already loaded with my new ipad air that I hate and want to delete but can't locate the directory where they reside.  I downloaded a file manager app but it only had the option to add new folders, not access the one's already on the ipad.  I signed up for icloud and even bought itunes match at the direction of a blog someone wrote as a way to access the icloud song list and delete the songs.  I deleted the album purchase (that I never made in the first place) listed in the purchase section of iTunes.  The songs are not listed on my PC version of itunes so I can't delete them from there (right click and choose delete).  They are only on the ipad itself.  Why is it so difficult to simply remove a file from your ipad?  Is there a way to delete these songs or am I stuck with them on my ipad music list?  I reset the entire setup thinking it would erase everything on my ipad but that didn't work either.  Please advise.  Thanks.

Does it play on the iPad?
What happens when you swipe it left and fight? You should get a Delete or Remove button. If Remove then there will be a cloud icon by the song after you remove the sound file from the iPod.
If it is U2 album then:
    Remove U2 Album
