K1 DOESN'T AUTO DETECT HEADPHONE JACK

GOT MY K1 IN FOR REPAIR JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. MY HEADPHONE JACK DIDN'T WORK LAST WEEK..... NO HEADPHONE SOUND, NO HEADPHONE ICON IN THE LOWER RIGHT TASKBAR.
I WAS ONLY GETTING SOUND THROUGH THE SPEAKERS
HOW MANY HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND HOW MANY GOT THEIR K1 REPAIRED.
IF YOU DID GET YOUR K1 REPAIRED I'D APPRECIATE FEEDBACK ON THE HEADPHONE ....IS IT WORKING PROPERLY OR IS IT PLAGUED WITH THE SAME NO SOUND ISSUE.

  • Satellite C850-A628 Headphone jack on my toshiba satellite doesn't work.

    Satellite C850-A628
     Hello,
Headphone jack on my toshiba satellite doesn't work. When I plug my headphones in the computer speakers still play. I know its not the headphone because they work on everything else I've tried. When I go to control panel > hardware and sound > sound it doesn't show the headphone jack. It only shows  speakers. how do I get my headphone jack to work?

    Satellite C850-A628 (PSKCV8-0T00XAR)
This is actually the peer support forum for Toshiba USA. But, while you are still welcome here, yours would appear to be a Toshiba Middle East model. Toshiba Middle East is really handled by Toshiba Europe, and you can find their forum here. You may want to consider using that in the furture.
I am not sure this will work on your system, but it's worth a shot. With your headphones unplugged, click on 'Start' -> click on 'Control Panel' -> click on 'Realtek HD Audio Manager'. Look for the file folder icon near the top right of that window, as in the attached pic. Make sure the check mark is on 'Enable pop-up dialog, when device has been plugged in' -> click 'OK'. Now, plug in your headphones -> when you see the 'The current connected device is:' dialog box pop up, put the check mark on 'Headphone' -> then click 'OK'.
Test your headphones again, and see if your laptops internal speakers now turn off.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • HeadPhone port doesn't play through headphones

MacPro my headphone port doesnt play any sound through my headphones, sounds are all fine through speakers nothing is muted and my internal microphone works fine; no matter what I do I cannot seem to fix it. Sound even comes out of monitor when connected through hdmi or thunderbolt its just like the headphone port just died. Additionally does anyone know if I had to get it replaced how long would this take to fix as I am at uni its almost impossible for me not to have it, I am still under warranty I believe

Hope you have solution by now, if not make sure the mac is auto detecting headphones when you insert them.
    Open system preferences>sound>output. (shortcut, hold down option key and click on speaker icon in menu bar}
Insert headphones into mac. Sound source should change from internal speakers to headphones. Both have separate volume controls. Make sure headphone volume slider is up. Also make sure source is not muted. Once your headphones are plugged in, then you should be able to control volume level via keyboard or menu bar speaker volume icon.
If headphones are not being detected, then you might have a jack problem and time for an Apple visit.
Please post if issue is resolved and how you fixed it.

  • Os x snow leopard server mail server auto detection

    Hi All,
I have a Mac Mini Server on 10.6.8 running many services.
One of which is Mail. When I setup a email account in the mail app for a client, it doesn't auto detect the mail server. Is there a way to set this up?
    Thanks.

There are ways of configuring auto-discovery within email, but it's hardly trivial.
Essentially, the mail client will query a web server for a configuration file for the current user. The server needs to return an XML file that contains all the configuration data that the email client uses.
This is all largely based off autodiscover that Microsoft built into Outlook, and has become a pseudo-standard.
It's well documented on the net if you want to set this up for your users. This article is based around Outlook, but the same principle applies.

  • [Solved] Front Headphones jack auto detect plugin

Is autodetection supposed to work when I plug in the headphones? I moved from an Asus Xonar PCI card to the internal card (HDA Intel PCH, ALC892) but headphones are not working. On the Asus I could switch between headphones out and line out using the audio mixer panel but that option is not available. aplay -L doesn't list a headphones output.
I'm running Arch 64-bit with XFCE, no Pulse audio installed (just ALSA). Sound is working fine over the speakers.
    lspci lists:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05)
Alsamixer or the XFCE audio control panel does list headphones volume control. It's not muted or anything.
If headphones out should work (hopefully with plugin detection), how can I get it to work?
    Thanks!

Well, that was easy . The front panel wasn't connected to the motherboard
    Sorry ...

  • IMac Doesn't Detect Headphones

I have a ~year old 24" iMac (2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo) that I just suddenly started having a problem with. I use headphones pretty regularly and they are almost always plugged into the headphone jack. Recently, I lent my headphones to someone and, when I plugged them back in, the machine doesn't detect them. The audio works just fine coming out of the internal speakers, it's just that it always comes out of the internal speakers, no matter if the headphones are plugged in or not (the headphones also work fine when plugged in somewhere else). I took a look at the Sound Preferences panel and, sure enough, it doesn't detect the headphones as plugged in. Does anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting?
I'm not sure it matters, but I did just recently upgraded to 10.5.6. The headphones worked after the upgrade, but it may be that this is the first time they were replugged in after the upgrade.

It sounds like the head phone jack has been damaged. If they were connected to a port they weren't meant for, that can happen. And that in turn, can damage your audio output port.
Try disconnecting everything but the keyboard and mouse and reboot the iMac. See if that makes a difference.
Resetting the SMC only provides this kind of support:
-Telling the computer when to turn on, turn off, sleep, wake, idle, and so forth.
-Handling system resets from various commands.
-Controlling the fans. so I doubt it can fix the audio issue.
Check the headphone port really close, make sure there isn't any dust or link or anything that might keep the jack from connecting properly.

I have ipod touch 1st gen and it will no longer detect that i have headphones in the headphone jack and so i cannot turn up my volume. Is there any way it can be fixed?

    Have you tried:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

    Hi Mr.Acevedo329!
I have an article here for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are experiencing. That article can be found right here:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
Specifically, you will want to take note of this section:
    The headphones don't work
If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Headphone jack sometimes doesn't work for my ipad air.

Headphone jack sometimes doesn't work for my ipad air, when watching a video or listening to music the audio in the ear or head phones cuts off. It's definitely not the ear phones it's the ipad because I've tried too many different headphones. It's been 7 months that I've bought it from the apple store so would you be able to fix it. Is there a  fee?

    Hello SungSungE,
please check out this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6288240
It doesn't perfectly answer your question but you will see that I have an answer from Apple regarding this problem.

  • No sound, stuck on digital audio output, red LED only sometimes, headphone jack doesn't "grab" male end

Borrowing my boyfriend's computer after my own Macbook died, he had given up on the audio on his Macbook Pro as a logic board issue but I think it might be fixable.
System prefs for audio is stuck on digital output. The red LED from the headphone jack only shines sometimes (rarely, actually, but the digital output/no sound persists). No appearance of dust in the jack. What concerns me most is that the headphone male end doesn't "sit right" in the jack: rather than plugging in securely, it pops right back out.
I have a hunch this is similar to that little switch problem a lot of people deal with in the headphone jack, but the fact that the headphones won't plug in seems different. I've tried pulling the jack in and out and wiggling--no sound change, but the LED turns off and on sometimes. Any other ideas? Thank you all.

Possibly create a new user profile to test if it is a software issue. If it still has problems once tested on another profile it is most likely a hardware fault, and the only option is to take it to Apple. Honestly though it sounds more hardware related due to the power outage impacting it's performance instead of a program. Good luck buddy.

  • Headphone jack doesn't work in Mac OS X 10.5.6

My headphone jack stopped working on my less-than-30-day-old MacBook Aluminum. Without headphones internal speakers functioned normally. When I plugged in headphones there was no sound. With headphones plugged in System Preferences > Sound indicated that a digital optical cable was plugged. I tested the headphones in another device and they worked. I tried another set of headphones and they don't work. I tested the system with Bootcamp/Vista Home Premium and the headphones worked, so the problem was not the hardware, it must be the OS. I took my Mac to the Apple Store and the Expert says he "cleared the Kernel cache", at which point the headphones jack started working again. I used headphones last night. Tonight, the headphones stopped working again, but, after about an hour, as I am typing this post, I see they have suddenly started functioning again. Now I have to correct all my grammar in this post to indicate past tense. What is wrong with Mac OS X, why do the headphones spontaneously stop functioning, what did the Apple Expert really do, and how do I "clear the Kernal cache" for myself?

  • Headphone Jack doesn't work and internal speakers are stuck in mute.

So I have an 18' macbook pro with a 2GHz Intel Core i7 and running version Mac OS X (10.7.5). I recently dropped my computer off my lap while my headphones were still in. The headphone jack smashed into the computers headphone output jack I took out the headphones and they still work but now no matter what pair of headphones I use I cannot hear anything when plugged in. As well when I take out the headphones the sound output does not switch back to internal speakers but says Digital Out. I know the speakers work because when I was messing the out jack because I read when a red light is on inside the jack (which it goes on and off) means it is stuck in mute. That however has not worked so far and neither has putting in and taking out the headphone jack.

    Hey there Kyleosipad,
I was able to find this nifty Knowledgebase article that gave some insight on how to fix your issue. It looks like an audio setting needs to be adusted:
    1.  Go to the Control Panel.
    2.  Search for "Realtek HD Audio Manager".
    3.  Click Advanced Device Settings.
    4.  Click Multi-stream mode.
    I hope this helps.

  • IMac's headphone jack doesn't respond

I have had external speakers connected to the headphone jack for many months, and recently after a brief power outage at our house, somehow the Mac no longer recognizes the speakers.  Restart didn't solve anything…….Red light is not on in the jack.
When I'm in System Preferences…..Sound……under output it is showing Internal Speakers only.  When I plugged in my external speakers into the headphone jack, I get a brief message "selected device has no output controls".
    In Applications……Utilities…….Audio Midi Setup…….It shows "Built In Output 0 in/2 out" .
I have also check the speakers with my mp3 player and they play fine………also plugged in headphones and same results as with the external speakers.
Any/All help would really be appreciated!!!!!!!!!
