K330 "Performance Switch" -- Does it actually do anything?

I bought a new K330 (7727-3FU) that has the 3 mode performance switch on the front. What is the deal with this thing, is it just for looks? I've monitored CPU-Z/GPU-Z and run a myriad of benchmarks (Sandra, x264 HD encoding, PCMark) and the performance is always identical.
What exactly is that switch supposed to do other than change the color?

Does Genius actually do anything?

I have over 3500 songs in my iTunes Library and all are available to Genius, but I have yet been able to use Genius to create a playlist. It's not like I am using some unheard of band or musician. I have Led Zeppelin, the Stones, the Beatles, Regina Specktor, Ani DiFranco, Metallica, The Who, Evanescence and hundreds of others.
All of these are pretty well know, yet every time I click on the Genius button, I get the same message
...Genius is unavailable for the song "....". Choosing Update Genius from the Store menu will update your Genius results. If, after updating, iTunes is still unable to identify this track, please choose another song or artist.....
I've followed the directions many times and still to no avail. What gives?

Have you checked and double-checked whether the tags for your songs (track title, artist, album title) are 100% correct? If not, Genius won't be able to recognize which song is which.
Edit: I have often noticed in other people's libraries that they have many unobtrusive spelling errors in artists' names etcetera; in such cases, Genius will not work.

Hi, with 3 cell and at 3-5 recharge - times reaches full capacity... should last for 2 hours 15 mins ... constantly mid (5 lines ) brightness & wireless on...

Location switching does not work on Vista

Hi, my location switching does not work. I have reinstalled my Access Connection several time but still does not work. I have several profiles and I need to switch manually depending on my location profile. My Access Connetion however seem to know the right profile (dot next to the profile indicate it picked up the right wireless signal) but never connect to the profile
Is there any Vista feature that is controlling the access as well? Do I need to disable? I remember the older version of Access Connection will ask to disaable some windows services when using Access connection.
My Config is
- R61
- Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG. File Version 11.1.1.16
- OS Vista 32 Business - with up to date patches

IDM may need to be updated to work with Firefox 4.0. You could contact them and make them aware of the problems you are having with their program.

Does hplip actually require foomatic-db?

Hi, I struggled for an hour to set up an HP Deskjet 3050 J610a connected via WiFi. I had hplip installed, but http://localhost:631/admin gave the cryptic message "Unable to get list of printer drivers: Success". Finally I ran `sudo pacman -Rdd foomatic-db` and was able to install the printer without any more trouble.
So my question is: Does hplip actually require foomatic-db? If foomatic-db-engine is sufficient, foomatic-db should be removed from hplip's dependency list. In fact, it should probably be marked as a conflicting package.

Enterprise manager still requires a static service definition in listener.ora and does not rely on dynamic registration.

The SID_LIST is required for backward compatibility with Oracle8 or Oracle7 databases, as well as external procedures and heterogeneous services, and some management tools, including Oracle Enterprise Manager.

I'm puzzled by how SUM actually works.
I've got a table with the following fields:
SET_OF_BOOKS_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(15)
SUMMARY_CODE_COMBINATION_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(15)
DETAIL_CODE_COMBINATION_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(15)
TEMPLATE_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(15)
LAST_UPDATED_BY NOT NULL NUMBER(15)
LAST_UPDATE_DATE NOT NULL DATE
ORDERING_VALUE NOT NULL VARCHAR2(25)
Using the below, I was able to get the total value of all the ordering value.
select sum(ordering_value) from gl_account_hierarchies where set_of_books_id = 1 and summary_code_combination_id = 1147;
I was happy that I could get the total value but am puzzled as ordering value is of data type VARCHAR2.
Is sum(ordering_value) a VARCHAR2 or a NUMBER then?
I did a simple test, inserting the following record:
insert into gl_account_hierarchies values(1,1024,1,2,3,'11-APR-2002','xyz');
After committing, I double check by using the following statement:
select * from gl_account_hierarchies where last_update_date = '11-APR-2002';
and was able to retrieve the newly inserted record.
But when I did another check with the following statement:
select * from gl_account_hierarchies where set_of_books_id = 1 and summary_code_combination_id = 1147;
I wasn't able to retrieve the newly inserted record.
Why is that so? How does SUM actually works? Is the output of SUM a VARCHAR2 or NUMBERIC value?

SUM() gives a number.
What you have come across is an implicit data conversion. Basically the SQL parser doesn't reject your query as being syntactically invalid just because you're attempting a mathematical function on a non-numeric column. Instead when you execute your query SQL substitutes this
select sum(to_number(ordering_value)) from gl_account_hierarchies where set_of_books_id = 1 and summary_code_combination_id = 1147;
If you want to check this create a view
create order_value as select sum(ordering_value) sum_val from gl_account_hierarchies ;
and then desc it.

Fabric with two Nexus-5548 and a brocade switch does not get fabric updates

We have a fabric containing two Nexus 5548 and a Brocade 5000 switch in interop mode 2. When i make changes to the zoning, the first nexus (the fabric principal) and the brocade switch see the zone changes. The second Nexus switch does not see it. There are no error messages but the change just can't be seen. What can i do to find out, what goes wrong ?

Does any actually use Pert view?

The Pert view seems to very hard to organize activities especially when you're working with a couple hundred of them. Does anyone actually use the Pert view, and why do you use it instead of the bar chart? Is Pert better for small projects that don't have many activities?

Under most circumstances we do not use a "pert" formatted chart. They are cumbersome with larger projects but every once in a while a stakeholder has a preference for that particular "look". It all depends on the way the project manager or lead is used to working with his or her schedules.
I find them useful in the planning stages of putting a schedule together.

I'm unable to run Photoshop CC. I've been holding for chat support for almost 30 minutes. It keeps saying, "We are still assisting other customers, thank you for your patience. You can also try ourcommunity forums, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
Does anyone actually answer it? How long is the wait? It's pretty frustrating.

I was on hold for over 3 hours before I finally got a hold of someone.
Then it took an hour to figure out my issue. I had to log completely out and then log into the Creative Cloud app in my system try before logging into the application. Apparently if you do them in the reserve order, it tell you your internet connection is bad.
So, 4 hours to resolve my issue.

We are in Oct-11 period and I can see 'E' and 'B' balance data have been created in gl_balance table for future peiord, such as 'Nov-11' .. However, there is no data for 'A' period. Is that right?

There is one code combination has been closed in 'May' and has Jun period data with last_updated_date = '28-Apr-2010'. Is that Jun data created at 28-Apr-2010 or copied from May data when Jun. period opened?

How long does FTTC actually take to be enabled? Roadworks and cabinets were installed in August and the Coming Soon section of the openreach check website listed enablement in the same August (2014).
Nothing happened... then in September the Coming Soon section listed enablement in September 2014.
The Same thing then happened in October, November and December.
I checked again today and, although the coming soon document is now a lot harder to find;

When was the last time that WIFI worked on the HP4530s? If you aer using a dock, then remove the laptop from the dock.
You can check the status of the WIFI adapter in Device Manager. You should have something similar to the below image if your model is equipped with WIFI.
The HP Support Assistant and also be used to troubleshoot network issues.
Look under the Internet and Security topics in HPSA for the adapter.
Try diagnostics under the My computer tab in HPSA
