K450 doesn't have Power control switch?

Hi,
I recently bought a Lenovo Ideacentre K450 (refurbished) from lenovo outlet. When I received it I was a bit surprised that it doesn't have the power control switch, and there's no LED lighting as well. It looks more like a low-end K410. I suppose all K450 would have the power control switch, or am I actually wrong? The model # of my machine is 57314032, with i7-4770, 16GB DDR3 and 2TB hard drive.
Does anyone have any idea? Not a big issue but kind of annoying... Thanks in advance!

hi adcmaker,
Thanks for Posting!
I suggest you contact Lenovo Post sales.
The Power Control Switch is a solid feature and not part of the optional ones.
It would be best if you would hear it from them since the unit is refurbished Im not sure if this is really how the system is.

  • K430/K450: here`s the SOLUTION to Lenovo Power control switch not working anymore.

If your power control switch isn`t working anymore BUT you didn`t unistall it or erase some of his files, chances are that over time some software/update took control of some setting used by the Lenovo switch.
If this is the case, before reinstalling the software, try the following:
1 - Check your power plan option, if is on something else than Lenovo  change your power plan option (scheme) to Lenovo Power Scheme.
2 - Access your pc advanced startup setting (win+x) check for the services LitModeCtrl and LenovoComService and set the two services to automatically start when the computer startsup. If it`s not working 99% is because some software (the most common is Samsung SSD Magician) has set the two to "Manual". Change to "Auto".
3 - Reboot and the Power control switch software will be working again.
I wonder why no one from Lenovo advice this, but i`ve had to find a solution myself after countless hit & miss attempts.

  • RE: Ideacentre K430 Power Control Switch (need the original cpu meter)

    Dear Lenovo,
I buyed this desktop, and it worked well...BUT!... ->
I reinstalled (full HDD format) the Windows 7, and deleted my backup (recovery?) partition. When i finished the installing of Windows 7, the power control switch doesn't work anymore and the CPU meter has gone. Installed all drivers, downloaded from lenovo.com but there is no software for Power Control Switch and Cpu meter.
Here is the manual, - i need this funktion. <<<<< LINK
You should upload (or make) a software for power control switch with the original CPU meter.
    You should support the users!
    Thanks...

Do you have W7 64 bit OS.  If so, I can help.

  • Power Control Switch not working?

So I restarted my PC at one point (No problems at this point) and upon getting to the desktop, I am prompted with the message "Failed to start Power Control Switch, please use Power Control Swtich as administrator to resolve the problem." I exited it out and now my computer has a slew of problems. I have tried running multiple games, they all work (but some have longer long times for some reason -not sure if this is due to the problem), however, the audio has stopped working for everything; games videos, etc.
I tried running the power control switch as an admin but it just displays the same error message. Not really sure what to do, I considered reformating but there are a lot of files which I don't feel like having to get again so I'll consider that as a last resort.

    Hello Complete!
Don't know what Lenovo model you use but my reply and experience consider K450 model.
Longer time ago i get "Failed to start Power Control Switch" message when i use Windows system restore option to go earlier point of time. Don't know why but after successful system restore Power Control Switch software stopped working.
You can try to use Windows system restore option to go another point where you know for sure that Power Control Switch worked without problems or you can also use Lenovo Rescue System program. Just remember that if you haven't made any backup's using Lenovo Rescue System, then that way you can only go to factory state.
Just remember to save and backup all important files before making restore!

  • K430 Power Control Switch software

Brand new K430. Just out of the box today. Ran Windows update and installed 50 or so updates. Uninstalled McAfee and that's all. When I right click on the Control Switch icon on the desk top and pick run as Administrator I'll get a Do you want to allow this program to make changes, say yes and then I get nothing. Pulled out the Lenovo DVD and installed all the drivers, didn't help. If I reboot, the Control Switch window opens for about 5 seconds and shows cpu at 46% then closes. If I  click on the ? on the left I see power control switch 4.0.0.1226.
So what's the secret to getting the Control Switch software to work??
    thanks

I was puzzled by this too.  You can pull up the switch by clicking on its icon down in the tray by your taskbar, which just makes a speedometer-thingy appear on your desktop.  Tis completely useless as far as I can tell, aside from changing colors as I manually flip the switch atop the computer.  Am I missing something?
Perhaps relatedly, when I change the settings in windows for when my display should turn off (10 minutes), and when my computer should go to sleep (never), this seems to have no effect -- it still shuts off the display in less than 5 minutes and then goes to sleep.  I'm guessing this is because the windows settings get overridden by some sort of Lenovo power-controlling software, but I can't figure out how to adjust that.  It might even be the same power-switch program that we've been having trouble opening in any useful way.  Anybody have any ideas?

  • IdeaCentre Power Control Switch Software

I have an IdeaCentre K430 on which I would like to do a clean Win 8.1 installation. I have the Win 8.1 installation DVD from Microsoft. If I do this clean installation of Win 8.1, is there any way for me to then install the Lenovo Power Control Switch software on my K430? I ask this because I can't find this software available for download anywhere on the Lenovo site. Thanks for your help.

    hi sermak,
Thanks you for using Lenovo Community Forums!
I'm afraid that you cannot install the software back, Since it is one of the Proprietary software that came preload on your machine a download link for this is not available online.
I have encountered thread here with similar concern.

  • Power control switch for 115VAC wall outlet to operate resistance heating element.

I am very new to LabView software as well as hardware
interfacing, so don't presume that I know anything.  My problem seems
simple, I want to be able to control and automate via LabView software a resistance
heating element that can plug into a standard 115VAC wall outlet.  I
searched through the Knowledge Base and found this comment:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/855AF9CBDAACE3018625725A00638653
The PXI 2564 seemed ideal but I have no clue how to connect the serial port to
my heating element, or even if this is enough current (5A, do heating elements
need a certain wattage?)  I had originally envisioned a simple surge
protector like device that had computer control options.  Many devices
like this are available, however all the ones I have found are web-accessed via IP address
and I am unsure how to interface this type of device with LabView if it has its
own GUI.  Obviously I have no idea what I am doing here so any help would
be much appreciated.  The heating element requires 115VAC or DC it does
not matter, and all I need to do is turn the power on and off, no variance is
required, although that could be very useful.  I have implemented a NI
CompactDAQ for other control and measurement (24VDC Digital I/O and Thermocouple) if this
could somehow play into my solution, but I believe the limits on voltage for
this device are much lower.  Thanks!

    Hi Anfu,
LabVIEW gives you the power to control and automate all National Instruments hardware using NI drivers (i.e. NI-DAQmx).  I have a couple of NI hardware suggestions, but it's up to you to decide on the hardware that will best fit your application.  Even if you end up using third-party hardware, I think you will find LabVIEW is a great interface to control and/or automate your hardware.
The resistance heating element you want to control...you state it is powered via wall voltage, but you did not state the required current.  This is important information you should be able to find in the heating element's data sheet.  The amount of current you need at 115 VAC (or DC) will determine your desired relay characteristics.  Once you know the voltage and current (or power) the heating element requires, you can calculate the hardware specifications that are necessary for your application - and can confidently select the correct hardware.
Starting from the fact you need to switch wall voltage, you will want a switch rated for Measurement Category II (CAT II).  This classification ensures you will be kept safe from the high voltages being switched.  National Instruments has PXI hardware that can switch wall voltages, as you mentioned previously, and one of these switches is the PXI-2564.  Your computer would communicate with the PXI-2564 through its PCI bus, not its serial port.  Several methods to connect your PCI bus to PXI is to purchase a MXI-4 card (this would fit in one of your computer's PCI slots) that cables to a PXI chassis (in which the PXI-2564 is located).  Also, you can purchase an embedded PXI controller (then you wouldn't need a separate computer, as the embedded PXI controller houses a laptop-like computer).  In total, you would need a PXI-2564, a PXI chassis, and either a MXI-4 or embedded PXI controller.
If PXI doesn't seem ideal, instead you could create a Plug-and-Play (PnP) SCXI system!  First, choose a SCXI switch module (such as a SCXI-1127).  Then, you can purchase a USB-1357 to control the SCXI-1127 module from one of your computer's USB slots.  In total, you would need a SCXI-1127 module, a 4-slot SCXI chassis, and a USB-1357.
Another option is the SCXI-1161.  Unfortunately, the USB-1357 doesn't connect to the rear of the SCXI-1161, but there is there are two additional options available for controlling the SCXI-1161.  One is to purchase a PCI DAQ module (or use one if you already have one) and connect it to the SCXI-1161 using the SCXI-1349.  The other is to purchase a SCXI-1600 (which is a DAQ board, SCXI form factor) that you control via USB.  In total, you would need a SCXI-1161, a 4-slot SCXI chassis, and a SCXI-1600 or a DAQ board and a SCXI-1349.
Either way, the PXI and SCXI options both give you the full functionality of a modular, LabVIEW-controlled switch.  Upon purchasing the switch module, you also get the required drivers, getting-started and troubleshooting tools (such as the NI-SWITCH Soft Front Panel), and examples to get you up and running quickly.
In reference to the simple surge protector like device that has computer control options - I'm sure someone from the LabVIEW forum could assist you in communicating to one of these devices via the web.  Don't worry, if the device can be controlled via the web, you're good to go.
Lastly, in response to your final statements, it is important to find out how much current or power the heating element requires because that will directly determine your required switch hardware specifications.  You mention no variance is required, which is good, because the switch will simply turn on or off the power to the heating element.  I agree a NI CompactDAQ option could be very useful for an application such as this, however there are no CAT II relay or switch modules for this form factor at this time.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why the iPhone 3G doesn't have voice control and a video recorder?

Why the "old" iPhone 3G can't support video and voice control?
    Is there a technical explanation?
Yes, I know that they're functions reserved at the iPhone 3GS
but why? Both have a microphone and a camera, the only difference that the 3GS has a faster processor.... so, does someone know why there is this difference?
Thank you very much for yours answers!
    mat

"If the 3G offered all the same features as the 3GS, then there would be no reason to upgrade."
'If', maybe, but the fact is that the 3G is not capable ever of offering (due to hardware limitations) the same features as the 3GS, so surely such speculation is pointless and it is only wishful-thinking from those who are either:
    1) not prepared to pay for the hardware that will support the facilities they wish were on their 3G, or
    2) not prepared to wait for their contracts to allow them free phone upgrades to what will then be one generation beyond the 3GS, allowing the 3GS owners to complain about why their 3GS iPhones can't support the facilities of the next generation iPhones?!
My Mum told me "I 'want' cannot always 'have'....", so if I 'want' then I'll pay and if I can't pay then I'll not moan about not being able to 'have', just work harder or stay quiet until I CAN 'have'.

you have to use "sudo systemctl suspend" still, sudoers is only affecting sudo behavior as it was mentioned...

Nope. You can only have one credit card attached to an account at a time. Its not that big of a deal to use two accounts, users do this all the time. Create the second account(UK Account) in iTunes on your computer...sign out of your Italian account first. Then authorize your computer for this new account: Store>Authorize this computer. Then sync your phone. Now, to switch accounts on your phone: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...then sign back in with the ID you want to use.
