K7N2 Delta bios versions 5.4 & 7.4 released

MSI has now released bios version 5.4 for the K7N2 Delta-L and 7.4 for the K7N2 Delta-ILSR and can be downloaded here:- Link
This bios fixes the following problems of the previous version:-
-Fixed Nvidia FX5900 Ultra compatability issue.

I was using my K7N2 Delta nicely but after flashing the BIOS from 5.0 to 5.3 in LiveUpdate3 (all OK) and then when LiveUpdate ask to reboot... GOOD BYE!
When bootin the D-lights show that I have a processor damaged or not intalled properly (two red light up, and two green down...).
My processor is an Old Tbird 1.2 Ghz with 100FSB.
The question is: Why the mother stops recognicing the processor if before flashing BIOS worked nicely?.
J10 and J11 jumpers:
When I opened case to check out, I had the green J10 and J11 jumpers closed in the mother. The J10 was in safe mode, and the J11 jumper was closed...(133FSB-166FSB??).
I only have another athlon 1.1 ghz FSB100 processor to test the mobo, but I don´t want to take the risk of burn that one two (if is that the problem, of course).
So... I want to know how can I reflash the bios back (I have the old BIOS in a backup floppy disk, of course)... or if anyone else have the same problem as me....
Thanx a lot guys, and please help me... I´m very sad by now... because I don´t know how to get my computer to work.
Jose.

  • K7n2 delta bios settings please

i have a 2500+ that i'm trying to oc to 200fsb speed with 1:1 ratio. Problem is that my ram doesnt want to run @200mhz despite being pc-3200. I can however run cpu@200 and ram @166 with complete stablility, so i know it isnt the chip. I've nailed it down to either my ram is lousy (some generic type, nanya chips i believe), or my bios settings are wrong. All the memory settings are default. But i dont know if i need to do something with mem. timings or the spread spectrum options. Any suggestions, other than getting new ram, which i am doing regardless.

    Hi MaTT,
Yes it could be your generic RAM :( Are you bumping up the fsb in small increments to get to 200? I'm sure you can do better than 166.  Here is a guide for your bios settings that you may find useful.

  • K7N2 Delta BIOS settings

It's been a while since I messed with BIOS settings. I looked in the manual for directions, but it only provides them for processors with 100, 133, and 166 MHz FSBs. I've got a 333 MHz FSB.
Is there an up-to-date guide for configuring my board? I don't want to screw it up.

333 divided by 2 is 166 in order to obtain the 333 the BIOS must be set to 166 for the CPU, it's double pumped.

  • K7N2 Delta Bios setting - Help!!

I have "accidentally" set the CPU FSB Clock to 200 MHz & now my PC does the following,
Refuses to boot - press Del without response
sends No signal to the monitor
D-Bracket USB Diagnostic LEDs is all Red but no. 1 = Early Chipset Initialization
The System Performance is set = Auto. All other settings were left as default.
It was running OK with the FSB = 100. My CPU is XP 2600+ 521KB 1.91 GHz.
    Have I fried anything?
    How could I fix it?
    Many thanks.
    Will

    Hi Will,
Did exactly the same with mine a couple of days ago (confused about 333 fsb chip etc)
Try Clearing the CMOS with jumper JBAT1 (page 2-30 if you have your manual.)  I's the 3 pins between the IDEs and the battery.  Make sure system if off!!  move the green sleeve from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3, then put back to pins 1-2.
That worked a treat for me.
    Good luck,
    Andy

  • Questions about K7N2 Delta-ILSR

I am planning to buy a K7N2 Delta-ILSR  motherboard, so I have a few questions  about it.
Firstly, I would like to know which the max FSB the motherboard can handle is. )
Secondly, which are the available multiplier numbers?
Furthermore, i would like to know if the K7N2 Delta-ILSR version has standard the MCP2-T chip. In advance I would like to know, if it supports the SoundstormTM technology
     Thanks

    madsteeve1,
    1) I have seen people running over 425Mhz.
    2) Download the manual and check the BIOS Revisions for that answer
    3) The -ILSR Boards have Soundstorm.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR - RAID BIOS Option ???

    hi ho,
i have my 2 storage devices pluged into the promise 376 onboard controller. they are not connected as a real raid (not mirror nor real stripe). my OS is win2k on the first sata device and everything was fine for a long time.
but now when my system boots, it detects the ide drives and then i see the irq board.
right after that the system stops and tells me 'disk boot failure'. so i don`t get the chance to configure my raidcontroller or my sata devices.
it is as the controller is deactivated. i remember a bios version where you could activate and deactivate the sata controller. but in my bios (right now it is v7.8) there is no such option.
    i have tested so far:
    - reset cmos
    - flash bios v7.5 to 7.8
    - disconnected sata drives
anyone with similar problems or any suggestion?
    > MoBo : K7N2 Delta-ILSR Bios v7.8
    > CPU   : AMD Barton 2500+ (not overclocked)
    > Ram  : TwinMos 1GB 3200 400Mhz
    > Sata  : 2 x Maxtor 120GB Sata (as single Devices on Raid-Controller)
    > Ide   : 60GB IBM DeckStar
    > Gra  :  ATI 9600 pro 128MB
    > Aud  :  SB Audigy 2 ZS
    > Pow  : SilverPower 350W, +3,3V/+5V@25A and 12V@18A
    > OS    : win 2000 SP4 + Security Updates 31.07.04 + DirectX 9.0c

watch the bottom of the screen after pressing Enter on the "Welcome to Setup" screen. There will be some moments of files being loaded, and then you should see a message appear which says "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver". This message will only stay on the screen for a couple of seconds, so press F6 as soon as you see it appear. After this is done, you will see other messages appear, and it will act as though nothing is happening, but eventually a screen will appear which will allow you to install the drivers for the sata controller.
specify a device press S, select "win 2000 promise fasttrak 376 controller" it will read floppy and load, dot not remove floppy yet, continue win2000 install it may nead to access floppy to finish installing raid driver, did you do it like this.
try making some floppy boot disks and boot to floppy instead of cd.
    http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml
when you say there not listed, where did you see this? they wont be listed, windows will search for fasttrak controller so it will see sata's conected to it with out you knowing, so long as you load the controller from floppy that came with mobo as above.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Bios v.7.6 ??When??

    Hello,
I just asked myself when MSI is going to publish a new Bios Update above the 7.6 for the K7N2 Delta ILSR mainboard !!! I think it's time for a new Bios update, because of the few problems with this mainboard !!!!

    Quote
He has confirmed the ports are present on the board....
I have seen this in earlier Nf2 Pre Delta boards where it was there but if you had disabled it, and then flashed the BIOS, it would dissapear. The only way to get it back was to flash to an earlier version, make sure it is enabled, then you can flash to the latest.
That is why I always clear the CMOS when starting a new build. You may have a board that may have been fiddled with, believe it or not, it does happen from time to time.
Have you tried the Default BIOS Settings Option in the BIOS? Perhaps you loaded the Performance option and that is why it is hiding?
    this worked, thx a lot

  • Can't install OEM version of WinXP on the K7N2 Delta!??!?

I posted on amdmb.com's forums about how I cannot get WinXP to install on my hard drive connected to the k7n2 delta. Wonkanoby, a senior moderator on one of the boards here, and a visiotor on those boards at amdmb.com, stated that OEM versions won't work on this mainboard and you have to have a retail box windows version. Is this true? if so, this is complete crap! If MSI thinks I'm going to spend $150 bucks on a retail boxed version of Xp when I have a perfectly fine working copy right here, they are N U T S!!! This has got to be the most outrageous thing I've ever heard concerning mainboard issues. I hope MSI realizes they will either be working on a bios fix or they're paying me the restocking fee to send this board back to Newegg.

How to Install the OEM Version Windows XP Professional
    Last updated: 6/18/02
    Q.  How Do You Install the Windows XP Pro OEM Version?
    A.  I install it on a new computer (or hard disk drive taken down to "bare metal") from the DOS prompt with a Windows 98 Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/software/windows/startup/startup.htm). Put a copy of smartdrv.exe on the Startup floppy. You should be able to find a copy on and existing Windows 9x/Me computer at C:windows. It is on the CD’s in D:win98.  Boot to the floppy and use fdisk to partition the drive (the process the same as that at http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/upgrade/fdisk.htm. Format the C: drive. Do not install the system files. If you have more than one partition, they can be formatted during the Windows XP installation or with Windows XP after it is installed. Also, use fdisk to manually make C: active if there is more one partition. Load smartdrv.exe…
    A:>smartdrv.exe
    …and run D:i386winnt.exe, where D: is your CD-ROKM drive.
Do not delete or reformat C: with this method.  Winnt.exe copies the install files to that partition. You can convert it to NTFS and that process is fast.  It should also work if the i386 directory is copied to a scratch hard disk and the hard disk is connected to the secondary IDE interface.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer = a company that makes/markets computers (and parts), etc. which include parts made by other companies, and not the “original” manufacturer as OEM implies, just masquerading as one.  Licenses of OEM versions of Windows, etc. software are sold to computer manufactures for installation on new computers.  They are full versions of Windows, not upgrades.  They are widely available on the "grey market" and Internet and cost considerably less than retail full versions.  Just be careful not to purchase a pirated copy.

Please don't keep posting the same question in multiple topics.
Before you even consider overclocking, you should ensure your system is stable at stock settings. Also you'd be foolish to attempt a BIOS update on an unstable system.
Please read the >>Posting Guide<<, describe your problem in detail, and then we can help you better.

I have the same problem on my K7N2 Delta-L system! The behaviour you describe doesn't happen every reboot, sometimes it also reboots normally. Sometimes I also get the problem described in the thread: "K7N2 Delta will not boot (blank, no beep)" - no boot, no beep, no video output. All this without overclocking.
The leds on the D-bracket report it as being a RAM problem: "Memory Detection Test" (damaged or improperly installed memory module)
My RAM is TwinMOS DDR400/PC3200 (with Winbond IC's), those are supported by the nForce2 SPP as listed on the nVidia site. I have purchased 2 seperate (but identical) 256MB DIMMs to operate in Dual Channel mode, which work, sometimes; sometimes the PC will boot in Single Channel mode (leaving me with 256MB available), other times in Dual Channel Mode.
As they are not "matched" DIMMs, I ran a couple of cycles of memtest86 to check if they would operate in Dual Channel mode (when it would boot in DC mode), and of course, no errors.
    Some useful info:
    - I upgraded my BIOS to 5.2 and reset the BIOS settings to default + set FSB to 166Mhz +  switched off internal modem and audio.
    - XP 2600+ (166/333FSB)
(the following shouldn't have any influence, but I'll include them for completeness sake)
    - GF4Ti4200 (VIVO)
    - SBLive value
    - 2 HD's on the primary IDE channel, CDR & DVDROM on secondary IDE channel
    Regards,
    darklite
Ah, how I wish HW manufacturers would thoroughly test and debug their products (that includes the BIOS) prior to releasing it to the public - it can only harm their reputation.
