K7N2 Delta - cant get FSB over 200 ???

..Hi all...
I've bought this motherboard..and with AMD Mobile 2500+ and many different types of 400 DDR memory i cant get FSB over 200 ...
it forks fine on 200 ...but when i go up 202 and higher motherboard reports error that CPU is damaged or not installed properly.
Can this motherborad work over 200 (since this is good OC motherboard) ..or should i forget this.....
Im very sorry that i bought this MB...since for that money i could get much better one...

Yes it is, most seem to top out around 218 to 225FSB

Board is very picky on ram, your lucky that it works without problems to start with with mixed ram.
On Nforce 2 boards you gain a lot more performance running ram and FSB at 1:1 ratio. And with your ram i would keep it at 200FSB and not higher. If you really want to go over 200FSB and still run 1:1 then you will need new ram.
My overall suggestion is leave the 200X12.5 and run your ram 1:1

K7N2 Delta Only 100MHz FSB works

It's the K7N2 Delta ILSR model. I have an AMD 1800 CPU (will be getting AMD 3000 w/ 400 FSB when FedEx feels like visiting me...) As far as I know, the FSB speed should be 133MHz in BIOS. This worked fine on my previous motherboard, but now when I set it, the system will lock up once a slight load gets placed on the CPU (i.e. starting WinXP, loading setup for XP, etc). When I drop the FSB to 100MHz it doesn't lock up, but it doesn't register the CPU speed correctly (and it shouldn't..)
Any ideas on how to fix it? I have another CPU on the way but in the meantime I wanted to use this one.
It is a 350W PSU, 2x 512MB 400MHz Kingston HyperX RAM, MSI GF4 Ti4200 GPU.

Yep, made sure the Fan/HS was on right before replacing it.
Oh well. Maybe something happened to the CPU in the brief period of time while I was switching boards, that caused it to not operate right at it's regular speed. I guess I'll know when I get my other CPU. If that does the same thing, I guess it narrows it down some.
Still haven't tested that memory yet though.

Once phone "synced" with itunes I suddenly cant listen to over 200 songs

Hey I need help!
I connected my iphone 4s to my computer (which i admit i rarely do, i am never on my computer much anymmore) and by the time is "synced" i had a message pop up saying that 203 items couldnt be synced. I noted when I looked at the music section under my iphone i noted that several songs (probably 203, i didnt count) were shaded grey and had a grey circle to the left of the song. hen i disconnected the phone to see if they would play, they were still shaded grey and I was unable to play them. I also noted the status bar on the bottom of ituned says "Over capcity by 919.6 MB. I am confused as to how I am over capacity. also how even after trying to delete some things, I cant get any o the songs to become highlited again and play on my iphone.
does anyone have any idea whats going on? or how to fix it? thanks

Can't get fsb to 200??

Ok, after some tooling around, I finally unlocked my cpu...It posted at 933Mhz the first time so I know it worked....After changing the fsb to 200 and multiplier to 10, it wouldn't even post, no beep, no nothing...If I back it off to 12x166, it runs like a champ(my highest stock 2.0G cpu score yet!!)...Anyway, I have the RAM set to 1:1 and am using timings 7,2,2,2.5....When I set the fsb to 200 the memory timings change to 8,3,3,2.5...I believe these are more relaxed and should allow smooth operation at a 200fsb?? Has anyone else had this problem?? How can I fix this? I vaguely recall seeing something about a problem with the 10 and 10.5 multipliers on this board...I can't for the life of me remember where or when, but is this my problem?? If it is, will something like 9x222 work instead?? I'm afraid to go messing with it any further, it runs great now, but I just know it could be better...Thanks for the help, and any advice is appreciated...
BTW, I still can't get the %$#*& front side USB to work...Cut which wire? 9 is already empty? Which one goes in my ear?? Man, I'm lost again...Silly

See, Thanks, I didn't know about having to raise the Vcore for an increased fsb...I haven't touched that yet...I will try setting it to 1.7...Right now it is at 1.65, should I increase only slightly at first and try, 1.68 maybe? Also, sorry about the gaming lag!! I play a LOT of BFV and know how frustrating lag can be...I will let you know what happens when and IF I get there...Gonna try it with different memory timings(suggested by Wonka) and raising the Vcore slightly...Is there anything else I should be aware of?? I'm gonna give this a try tomorrow after work sometime...I'll check this post before I get started and after to let you guys know what happened once I have tried it...
BTW, Are you getting lag in Single player games and Multiplayer, or just one or the other?? A little lag is to be expected from time to time when playing on-line..And is it all games, or a specific one or two?? Silly

K7N2 Delta-L and FSB

I set my FSB via bios to 174x12.5...but as to my computer for some reason its showing the FSB at 173.... would anyone know why this happens and is there any way to get it to 174 like it should be. Thanks...

all frequencies is a bit off.
take my cpy for instance.
its working at 166*12=1996 mhz. but if i use a program in windows they all report around 2004.6mhz

Cannot get FSB over 203, help please :(

I gave my ram 2.8V and left the timings on auto. AGP is set to 67. Even if I bring the multiplier down I cannot get above 203FSB without restarts before I can even get into Windows XP Pro.
This is really disheartening, especially since I upgraded from a MSI K8T800(which I could barely OC on) in order to overclock. Everyone told me the reason I couldn't was because of the lack of AGP/PCI locks.

If you have 2 dimms try with only 1 if these super loose timings don't work.
Tried it, those are the timings I could not boot at all from. Had to reset CMOS. I only have one 512MB dimm.
Try those timings but lower the cas to 2.5

K7N2 DELTA-L Alway Crashes

Need help badly, Mobo driving me crazy. Keeps crashing randomly when in windows, but most noticeable when running games. I’ve got all the latest drivers, patches and bios bit there is still no joy.
Run mem test and CPU burn for 6 hours and there is no problems. But when running Prime95 it fails after 30 sec.
I have tried upping the voltages and on the Ram and the CPU and the condition does not seem to be improving.
I know q-tec are rubbish, but even with my old power supply which had an 18A +12v rail the problems were the same.
All temps and voltages are correct an nice, so I cant see the problem please

I have a similar system, but it never crashes, except when I use the video card capture device. It is a very strange thing. I tried almost all nvidia wdm/forceware/nforce drivers, windows versions and video capture softwares.
I also tried to run the system without overclocking but the problem persists. However it doesn't occur all the time. And when it happens is only when I close the video capture software. Does anyone have seen this before? Sorry for the english.

K7n2 Delta power on for 1 second problem

I have owned a MSI k7n2 Delta motherboard for just over a year, and it has worked fine.
Just recently i decided to clean my computer after coming back from university, where it had gotten a little dusty.After cleaning it i plugged it all back in and powered it on. The power came on for about 1 second and then went off agen.The PSU fans came on, the CPU fan came on, but then it all just stopped after about a second.
I have tried a different PSU also, and still the problem is the same.
I also attempted removing everything then re-building, hoping this might fix something, but still the same problem.
I have taken the CPU out and booted the system, the system beeps and stays on, the D-LED at the back signifying that the CPU is damaged or not installed, which is correct, but on replacing the CPU, the system again powers on and then off.I've tested the RAM, both modules, one module and switched DIMMs, but still the same problem.
This is a very odd problem after a year of my computer working fine, i can only assume that i have damaged a component during cleaning, but im not sure whether the CPU,Motherboard or RAM is damaged.
I dont suspect its the RAM, otherwise the computer would hang on power.
Any suggestions would be thankful ?

Someone else had that problem here a few days ago, he found mobo knackered, did you ground your self when cleaning? When cleaning you must be grounded the easiest way is to leave power cord plugged in with the mains switched off!! Press power button on case to discharge psu, then hold or touch the side of the case regularly while cleaning. I WOULD DO REBUILD FIRST YOU MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING.

Southbridge cooling on K7N2 Delta-l

The southbridge heatsinks on my K7N2 Delta-l get pretty hot to the touch is there anything I can do to cool them down ?
Do I need to bother ?

I added heatsink into my KT4V southbridge just to be sure that crc never fails for hdd .... but I've been told that it can handle itself up to 70 C ....
so what's your exact temperature of SB heatsink ? can u measure it somehow ?
if the heatsink is made of copper, than is may seen warm to touch, but the chip is cooled quite good often ....
if your temperature is above 50 C I would say you can improve it's cooling .... ,
because on your board it takes care of GBIT Lan, PATA/SATA , (sound? i am not sure) ......
the heatsinks can be added together, but it's not the best idea here, as it would block you from inserting some mega pci card ... so I would exchange the heatsink with better/bigger. having a fan will be luxury and more decibels ....

FSB 400 settup. 2500AMD Barton. K7N2 Delta-L

AMD 2500 (Barton) combined with a newer K7N2 Delta Board.
CPU set up Question.
My new board has the FSB 333 logo in the corner of the shipping box however it has a new stick on label announcing its "400 FSB edition" Unfortunately the book has not been updated which leaves me puzzled regarding the board jumpers and Bios frequency set up. The book explains the "multiplier" calculation system but unfortunately the manufacturer has not got around to publishing that figure.(core bus ratio)
I have two "jumpers" (J10 and J11) that have 133mz (factory set)(J10) and an alternate setting (safe mode) of 10mz.
On J11 I have two settings (100mz OPEN and 133/166mz SSHORT)
The instructions read " J10 allows you to set the CPU FSB mode"
J11 "CPU FSB Freq jumper.. used to spec the CPU FSB freq. Leave the jumper short connected if a 133/166 mz CPU is installed. If the CPU supports 100Mz FSB leave the jumper open connected. To use a 200mz FSB CPU set the jumper short connected and enter the Bios utility to adjust the clock freq. Can somebody make all this simple. Do I set J10 user or safe? Do I set J11 open or short and what freq do I set in the Bios?
Please note I am not interested in overclocking but merely in attaining the correct performance of 1.833gz.
I have the computer running on factory settings at present.
I have half a gig of 400 memory installed.

J10 is user mode pins 1&2, J11 is shorted 133/166. To get a 400 FSB set your CPU FSB Clock to 200.

K7n2 Delta Ilrs "Windows Setup cant find hard drives" plzz help

hia guys i know this has been in many posts but my question isnt answerd im affraid ok here we go
im trying to get win XP sp2 installed on my new hard drive (ill get to why i have this new hard drive soon lol
1) boot the system and press Ctrl + F and setup an array (stripe) all says functional etc save and exit
2) put in the xp disk and boot
3) press f6 and install my sata drivers (i got off the main web site)
4) press enter to install windows
5) "windows setup cannot find any hard drives" ???????????
basicly i had ubuntu on my pc using an 80gb sata ii set to sata i all was good and fine i got bored and wanted windows back to play games again so i put in my xp disk and tryed to install it but it said cant find hard drives i thort i had killed the disk with the grub bootloader messing up the mbr so i got a new disk and re set the bios and cmos etc went to instal xp and the same problem remains
all my m8s dono wht to do nore do i were all stumped with this one as the new drive wont be recognized by windows
strange thing is when i put the 80gb back in ubuntu loads up fine (i only have 1 hard drive in at a time)

for his mobo, the drivers are absolutely necessary to be loaded when SATA HDD are used. that is due onboard sata controller.

I'm a bit of a noob at o/c so not sure I can give you sound advice.
pci is unlocked I think, though if use core centre then you can control it-I'm not using corecentre.
are you using priority 10 for prime 95 and In-place FFT's torture test? I believe that is most demanding. If you getting reboots then you're overclock is not stable, need to lower fsb and retest. Your psu is probably marginal as well so maybe that isn't quite strong enough to be pushed further. Can you try beefier one?
I don't know how far you can push vcore up; maybe one of our resident experts can advice.
I started out on this journey with exact problem you faced; I couldn't change High Performance mode from optimised to manual. I still haven't found a solution unless I enable DOT. I've tried bios b5, b6.1 and now trying b6.0, without success. O/S fails to load. Did you say b3 allowed you do to that and increase fsb in bios or was it change of memory? I'm thinking my expensive ram is not very flexible and doesn't suit the nforce 2 chipset. At moment with bios b60, high performance manual, memory to manual (2-2-2-11) and DOT enabled-private I passed memtest overnight. I'll try prime95 tonight if I have no issues tday.

OC: can change multiplier but NOT the FSB on K7N2 Delta ILSR XP1800+ TB 'A'

I have had a good look at the various threads in the forum which to be honest confused me a bit more. I explain.
The good news (for me): so far I have successfully changed the clock speed of a Thoroughbred 'A' XP1800+ on a K7N2 Delta board. Default is 11.5 but 12.5 or 8 are working fine. On 12.5 the mobo recognises the cpu as a XP2000+.
The bad news: I cannot change the FSB from 133 to anything else even in Advanced Chipset Features, manual, high performance settings. Not even a lower one works for this setup. As said above, the multiplier however IS reasonably overclockable - the system simply won't let me change the default FSB of 133.
As far as I understand it, the 1800+ is unlocked even in its TB 'A' version. So the 'wire trick' won't help me I guess.
The fairly low spec AGP card? If so then a lower FSB should be possible.
The memory should be fine, it's CL2.5 Crucial PC2700 333 DDR.
BTW: I don't think the PSU is the problem here. I had a 380W PSU in there (noisy although named silent!) which didn't change a thing.
Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated!

I unplugged psu, cleared cmos, applied default bios values. Then as suggested set multiplier to auto (H/W), reboot, and set the cpu/fsb interface back to Manual.
And it worked! Crazy. The system must have been stuck in some kind of loop... anyway, thanks very much Wonkanoby for your help!
After sorting this prob, I gradually raised the FSB to 166 while decreasing the multiplier to 9.5 = 1577MHz. Temps didn't chage a bit which makes sense for the cpu but I expected the northbridge chip to get a bit warmer. Don't know about memory.
Does any of you have experience with OC a Thoroughbred 'A'? I assume it is less OC'able than a type 'B'.
Or in other words: where's the limit?
