K7N2 Delta-L board operating temperature

  Hello,
I'm just curious what would be concidered a "normal" operating temperature for this board?
I've had my set-up running for about 10 days now with no problems (XP3000+ processor),but last night my computer reset itself.
When I took a look at my equipment stats I noticed my mainboard temperature was 35C, while processor temp was listed at 31C...would this be normal?
I have good fans and air-flow, and even removed the side panel to see if that made a difference, but the temp only came down 1C.
Perhaps the temp readings are inaccurate...just looking for some ideas on what could be wrong (other than bad memory, bad PSU, etc etc  :P)
Cheers,
Hautz

What BIOS version are you running, current BIOS is reading temp about -10deg from true.  Do you have the thermal protection enabled in BIOS?  The temps are well within normal operating range.  Any windows messages when the system is restarted?

  • Is Kingston Ram in K7N2 Delta ILSR board still taboo?

Its been a long time since I posted anything here, and am wondering if memory has improved any for the delta-islr boards? I have searched the forum and all posts regarding the Kingston KVR400X64C3A/1G or KHX3200AK2/1G modules are 2-3 yrs old. I had one of my infineon modules die so I thought I would upgrade to at least a Gig. I found the MSI site now only lists Kingston as the recommended ram, so have things gotten any better? Is there a better choice?

Yes but if you choose Corsair or Kingston, only use the performance stuff, not the cheap ValueSelect or ValueRAM lines
Nforce2 is a performance chipset, and works best with performance memory
Yes, it was the cheap stuff I bought. I did find the TWINX2048-3200C2PT modules today for the same or less than what I paid for the value select but its out of stock. If it comes in before my 30 day return policy, I will upgrade it again.
So whats so bad about the value select? It's running fine for me, I dont really do any o/c'ing but I have thought about playing around with it.

  • K7N2 Delta-L : the right temperature ?

    Hi,
When I launch MSI utility PC Alert 4 (latest version), and when I compare the temperatures indicated by Harware Sensor Monitor or others monitoring programs, PC Alert always give a temperature higher of 5-6° C.
Which monitoring tool I can trust ?
    Thank you.

    DONT look at it.
the more you ignore it the better.
its like that for everyone as far as i know.

  • K7N2 Delta-L - RADEON 9800SE AiW Power Up Problem

    SYSTEM:
    K7N2 Delta-L ( BIOS updated to w6570nms.560 - v5.6 )
    AMD 2600XP
    512MB Crucial RAM
    Adaptec SCSI 39160
    Sapphire Radeon 9800SE AiW
    Antec 480W True Power PSU
      +5V ( 0A - 38A )
      +12V ( 0.8A - 22A )
      +3.3V 0A - 30A )
    PROBLEM:
I've just got the Radeon card and installed it. Everything is connected fine inc. the extra power supply for the card. Now, when I switch on the PC, it only powers up for a split second and then everything shuts off. When I disconnect the extra power supply to the radeon card the PC boots up fine, except for a message from the card saying it needs power. Some other users on this forum had a similar problem.
So is this a problem with the K7N2 Delta-L board or with my Antec PSU ? Surely 480W and the above AMP output should be enough.
Anyone got a fix for this ?
    THX for any help
    P.S. I've also tried this card in an older PC ( ECS K7S6A - 1800XP - Qtec 550W ) and I didn't experience the problem above.

The Antec PSU is fine, I tried different plugs and it still didn't work.
The Qtec PSU is fine as well but not as quite as the Antec.
I think the Antec PSU doesn't work because of its overloading protection. The Radeon card probably sucks quite some power when the PC is switched on.
I've spend the last two days finding an answer to my problem, and other users experienced a similar thing.
Oh well, guess I have to live with the loud Qtec for a while and in the meantime try to get an answer from Antec.
    Thx

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR memory problem

I have a K7N2 Delta ILSR board with Athlon XP 2500 with 2 Gig of Mushkin Black Line ram (the ones that are
suppose to be CL2). I change the FSB to 200, and my memory won't run at CL2. Want to raise the Dram voltage
to 2.8V to see if it would make a difference. I looked all over this site for the modded bios 7.8. Does anyone
have the modded bios??? Any help would be appreciated.......

He/She overclocked the 2500+, to make it become a 3200+. Done it myself, but it mostly works with the first step of the 2500+. - That means the overclock forum.
Well, CAS 2 is a very tight timing, which I don't think is possible. In general on Socket A systems:
    - FSB 133/266 --> CAS 2 or 2.5
    - FSB 166/333 --> CAS 2.5
    - FSB 200/400 --> CAS 3

It looks like a great board and i see some great reviews but also see alot of small issue with compadability. It looks like the 1st thing is to upgrade the bios, and hope i don't have any issue with my cable modem box (guess i could put my old network card back in and disable the mobo's built in net work if there is problems).
I don't do O\C so nothing to worry about there. My old board is an Epox and is max'd out with no future upgrade room, so that's why i'd like to upgrade.
    Thanks for any help guys.

    rider45,
If you do not need the Break Out Box from the Platinum, I would go with the onboard nVidia SoundStorm. It sounds better than the old Live! and uses less CPU Cycles.

I am having a problem with system hanging up and getting blue screen from time to time.Running msi K7N2 Delta- L board with corsair value select VS1GBKIT400 PC3200 1024MB 2x64Mx64 2x184 DIMM,Leaktek winfast A250 ti4600 video card, antec 350w ps,xp home loaded on 30 gig wd 7200 drive with clean install. Not looking to overclock just want stable setup as about all I do is play with PSP7 and run driving games.Think I do not have bios settings correct as I am still a beginner.Any help or thoughts appriciated.
    Thanks Bruce

Bruce: I have the same Delta-L motherboard and it is picky about the Ram. I used Crucial 2 512 sticks 400 and they are in slots 1 and 3. Is it maybe the power supply is a little weak? Seems they like 400 or better PSU.

  • Problems with K7N2 Delta @ FSB200Mhz

    Hi,
    SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISCH
I've got a problem with my K7N2 Delta -L Board.
I use a Athlon XP Palo 1700+. Standart for this proz is FSB 133 and multi 11.
Now i tried to use FSB 200 an multi 7,5. =>1500Mhz.
I works fine an never crashs.
BUT if i turn off the pc for more than 15mins it doesn't reboot anymore. Only a safereboot@100mhz is possible.
The setting have to be in the BIOS advanced chipset AUTO an FSB 200 than it boots and restarts without problems until i turn it off.
The setting MANUAL and FSB 200 doesn't work even if i don't change any other setting. It never boots
RAM : CPU is 1:1. RAM is 400Mhz
    What's wrong?

Yes, the Proz is unlocked. It works fine. The "strange" thing is, that after a shutdown and power-off of more then 15min it hangs while rebooting.
You have to choose auto performance and FSB 200 otherwise it does't works with FSB higher than 150
Why raise the v-core? It works fiin without probs and stable only boot-probs after power-off . Reboots works fine.
The same proble occurs while using FSB 166.
    What has MSI done?
    Auto FSB200 works
    Manual FSB 200 not
and the aren't able to reply to e-mails...
Sorry next time spend some more € for an working a*us MB
