K7N2 Delta-L Floppy Controller

I just go this board back from RMA 2 months ago.  It sat in its box for  weeks then I set it up and all worked.  I took the system apart to put it in another case and the floppy will not work.  I have tried 3 floppy drives and 2 different cables.   When I inspected the board - three pins are missing on the end toward the floor.  the too end pins and the one above the left hand pin.  Is this normal?  The board works great just no floppy.
Thanks,

i told you im not a master geek...
so  im not sure on all the tech geek terms..
i tried to tell you best as i can to what happened..
and what im trying to fix..
its not a BURNER related problem..
its a Hard Disk controllers/PCI IDE Controllers problem..
    like this example here...

the Primary IDE Channel controller, Secondary IDE Channel controller, and a brand name controller, e.g. Intel, SIS, VIA, etc. The brand name controller is what needs to be updated. Please visit their website to obtain these updates.
like wheres the MSI or Nvidia one for Win98 OS...where do i get one..
like the chip set driver thing..
    like the IDE controller thing..
where you would have a PCI ide Controller thats for the NVIDIA® nForce2 Chipset
like the one MSI/Nvidia has for a XP operating system...
like it has the IDE In-the-box 2.70 thing thats for Xp systems
    wheres the One for Win98
    the hard drisk controller...
that thing that is found here on a Win 98 system..
    Start/Settings/control panal/System/Device Manager/Harddisk Controllers/(its suposed to be here)
and should be named something like NVIDIA Nforce2 Buss master controller
or what ever they named it...
    but to answer your question..
my burner is on its own IDE and the DVD burner and is SET to master

you asked..Do the disks have the same FAT..
    yes FAT32...windows 98..Fat32
you asked...and have they had the same cable?
yes they have the 80 wire cables the newer ones for ATA 66/100/133..
i guess thats what you want to know...

  • K7N2 Delta-ILSR BSOD

    Hi
    MSI Nforce K7N2 Delta-ILSR
    Bios V1016
    Antec True380SPGB True Power 380w
    AMD Athlon XP2800+
    2x512mb Crucial DDR
    1xSATA HDD
    Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200
I've installed 1 SATA onto the onboard Raid controller, but I keep getting BSOD when either playing a game or watching avi's.  The 0x00000000 message is disappearing too quickly to right down but is saying windows was shut down to prevent damage to the hardware.
Will the K7N2 Delta-ILSR Promise controller work with just one SATA hdd connected, I know that the silicon image controller on my Asus A7N8X-E will support just one SATA connected but will the promise chipset.
I've updated all the drivers but the dreaded BSOD keeps happening.
If it won't it not's a major problem as I do have a PCI sata controller card I can install.
Or are there any issues with the above graphics card and the MSI mobo?
    Thanks for any help.

Yep I've created a array with the single SATA and got Windows installed.
I've also changed the memory settings so they are now 1:1 with the FSB.
I've also altered the advance settings so I'll be able to write down the full 0X00000000 string.
Just set net access up via my PC and got this error report from M$
    Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)
Error Caused by Graphics Device Driver
Thank you for submitting an error report. Microsoft is unable to determine what specifically caused the problem you reported. To troubleshoot the problem, please see the information listed below.
    Analysis
A device driver installed on your computer caused the problem, but we cannot determine the precise cause. Depending on which situation is applicable to you, please do one of the following:
        * If you are running Windows Server 2003 you may experience crashes if you have adjusted the Hardware Acceleration setting. Microsoft recommends that you set the Hardware Acceleration setting to None for server systems. To check your Hardware Acceleration setting, go to the Advanced section of the display properties dialog box.
        * If you know the manufacturer of the device, contact the manufacturer's product support service for assistance.
        * If you don't know the driver's manufacturer and need help diagnosing and resolving this problem, contact your computer manufacturer's product support service.
        * Updated drivers might be available on the Microsoft Windows Update website. At Windows Update, you can have your computer scanned and, if there are updated drivers available, Windows Update will offer a selection of drivers that you might be able to use. To learn more about updated drivers that might be available, visit Microsoft Windows Update.
        * For information about Microsoft support options, visit Microsoft Product Support Services.
I've downloaded the current graphics card drivers from Abit and I'll install them and see what happens.
I've also adjusted the AGP in the bios from 64mb to 128mb.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Questions & RAID Promise FastTrak Controller Issue

I have recently rebuilt my system replacing the MSI KT3 with an MSI K7N2 Delta. I have been impressed with the features and stability of the system, however, I have some questions that I hope some of you that have more experience of this board can answer:
    1. I am using the AMD Athlon XP 2200 (and all the other components including the Lian Li case) which I was using on the KT3 board. The CPU temperature is around 45 degrees C but on the KT3 it was only 35 degrees C when idle. Any ideas ? The heatsink is definetly mounted properly. The temperature did drop by 10 degrees C when I flashed the
BIOS to fix the known CPU temperature issue but I think its still high.
    2. I do not have any serial ATA devices or anything connected to IDE3 channel and during the BIOS boot up I get the message:
"No drives attached to FastTrak Controller. Bios Not installed."
Is this correct ? Should I be getting this message ?
I would like to disable the onboard Promise Controller since it is taking up resources and it slows down the boot speed (although only slightly). The MSI website says that the onboard RAID controller can't be disabled. I think this is poor design. Does anyone know if this is going to be addressed in future BIOS releases ?
    3. Which of the USB ports are USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. I thought it was rather strange that only 2 of the 4 ports on the header actually active.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Rupesh

First off your temp is ok on that board. If you have not loaded the onboard raid driver do so and it is something you have to suffer with on the MSI board. All of your USB ports should run at USB 2.0 and you also should be able enable all of them in the bios.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR - RAID BIOS Option ???

    hi ho,
i have my 2 storage devices pluged into the promise 376 onboard controller. they are not connected as a real raid (not mirror nor real stripe). my OS is win2k on the first sata device and everything was fine for a long time.
but now when my system boots, it detects the ide drives and then i see the irq board.
right after that the system stops and tells me 'disk boot failure'. so i don`t get the chance to configure my raidcontroller or my sata devices.
it is as the controller is deactivated. i remember a bios version where you could activate and deactivate the sata controller. but in my bios (right now it is v7.8) there is no such option.
    i have tested so far:
    - reset cmos
    - flash bios v7.5 to 7.8
    - disconnected sata drives
anyone with similar problems or any suggestion?
    > MoBo : K7N2 Delta-ILSR Bios v7.8

watch the bottom of the screen after pressing Enter on the "Welcome to Setup" screen. There will be some moments of files being loaded, and then you should see a message appear which says "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver". This message will only stay on the screen for a couple of seconds, so press F6 as soon as you see it appear. After this is done, you will see other messages appear, and it will act as though nothing is happening, but eventually a screen will appear which will allow you to install the drivers for the sata controller.
specify a device press S, select "win 2000 promise fasttrak 376 controller" it will read floppy and load, dot not remove floppy yet, continue win2000 install it may nead to access floppy to finish installing raid driver, did you do it like this.
try making some floppy boot disks and boot to floppy instead of cd.
    http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml
when you say there not listed, where did you see this? they wont be listed, windows will search for fasttrak controller so it will see sata's conected to it with out you knowing, so long as you load the controller from floppy that came with mobo as above.

  • Boot problems with IDE HD and SATA HD on K7N2-Delta L

I'll get right to the point.
I have an PCI SATA Controller Card in my system (using a K7N2 Delta-L motherboard, BIOS v5.7 with an Athlon XP 2800+ and Corsair ValueSelect 512MB DDR400 RAM on a single stick).  My system works fine in it's original configuration of drives (CD-RW drive only drive on IDE bus, and SATA drive only hard drive).  However, upon installing my IDE hard drive from my old computer, the system will no longer boot right.  I am connecting the other IDE HD as Slave on the CD-RW's bus, as I'm reserving the second bus for bigger and better things such as a DVD burner, and speed isn't too important for this hard drive as it's just my MP3/data I don't need in a hurry drive.
In the current configuration, all three drives are detected properly (CD-RW and HD detected on the IDE detection screen, and the SATA drive detected on the SATA card's detection screen).  However, after the SATA detection screen, the system just stops.  The cursor is still blinking, but nothing comes up.
Both hard drives are Western Digitals (IDE is a ATA100 Western Digital 60GB at 5400 RPM, and the SATA is a Western Digital 36.7GB at 10,000 RPM), and the CD-RW is a HP CD-Writer 9100.  I have Windows XP installed on both hard drives (first partition of the IDE, which is divided into two), but considering the system doesn't even attempt to boot I don't think that's an issue.  I've gone through and tried enabling and disabling "Boot Other Device", but still no love.  My boot order is set to Floppy, CD-ROM, and SCSI, which works fine when the SATA drive is in there.
Any idea what's up?  I can provide more information upon request, as I'm sure there's something I forgot to mention that's important.
    Thanks.

Take a look at this link, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=71384, I think you both have the same problem. It seems that a sata drive doesn't like having an ide drive in the system that has an active partition.
Do like Wonkanoby suggest, reformat the ide hard drive and make sure that it's not set to be the active partition in the system. Boot with a 98 boot floppy if you have to so you can format the ide drive to fat32, once you can boot up using the sata drive you can use xp disk manager to convert the ide drive to ntfs.

You first need to make sure you have the promise controller drivers installed for it to recognize the hard drive. The system should have came with a floppy disk with the drivers on it........Make sure your boot order is floppy drive/cdrom drive/sata/scsi........boot to the XP cd after you have the sata controllers installed......then run the XP disk setup partion/format/install.........after installation you can set boot order as sata/scsi as first boot device.

  • Warranty Length for K7N2 Delta-ILSR

What is the mfg's warranty length on the K7N2 Delta-ILSR?
I filled out the online support form earlier today but no response as of yet, and me being the impatient rascal I am, I didn't want to wonder all weekend. I bought it October, 2003 and the floppy drive controller seems to have gone out.
    Thanks!
    HH

    Thank you, Glenn!
Looks like mine is 2 yrs. & 4 months old. Kind of stinks that I lost 5 months on the warranty by going by the mfg. date instead of date of purchase. Its not worth the hassle & would even cost more to RMA it for the controller. Ahh, but this is IT, the "World of Workarounds". I'll live!
    Thanks for your time, Glenn!

  • K7N2 Delta Sata problem

I know this has been posted plenty of times before but the fixes for those do not seem to be working.
Im running a K7N2 Delta ILSR and have bought myself a Hitachi T7K250 250GB sata2 drive but am having real problems installing it.
I want to run my trusty Win2K
I have done the CTRL - F in bios thing and set my drive as a striped raid, after which i reset and the post states i have a functional drive.
So i boot from my Win2K CD and hit F6 when prompted to do so and insert my driver floppy, i install both the Raid and Storage drivers but when i get to the actual Windows set up it states it cant find a hard disk.
I have tried the SATA drivers from the MSI website, and NVIDIA and am wondering if the promise drivers would be more sucessful.
Does anyone else have any suggestion of what to do next?

I have created and also replied to several posts on a very similar issue. The Delta2 version will NOT work with some SATA II drives. I have found NO fix for this and I have spent a lot of hours on it.
As Stu points out, the two boards have different controller chipsets, but I would guess them to have the same problem. Also, my experience is with Maxtor brand drives. Different products, but likely the same issue.
Try a SATA I drive to test. My experience with jumpering a SATAII drive into SATAI mode resulted in total failure.

OK Masters - I hope you can help me
I am not a techie but I have recently brought a K7N2 Delta IL-SR Mobo, using an AMD XP 2600 chip.
Everything is fine except when I play a game - The CPU usage goes to 100% and then it hangs.
The PC Alert 4 says CPU temp is 47 degrees c. The strange thing is I played this game for a couple of weeks before I started to have these problems. I have updated the Bios using the LIVE Update on the MSI web page.
I have a Geforce4 Mx 440 Graphics Card, 120 GB Hard Disk, 512 MB Ram and running XP Pro.
Whats up with this thing? I ran the same game on an old PIII 750 without any problems.
    All help appreciated.

  • Someone plz help me with my k7n2 delta-ilsr

    Hey everyone,
I just put my sytem togother and ran into a problem.  I got the system to boot up just fine.  It was not until I tried installing windows xp proffesional that  I ran into problems.  The installation process runs pretty smoothly, until the computer reboots to run windows for the first time.  After it reboots the windows logo appears and the after 2 seconds or so, a blue screen appears saying that windows was shut down to prevent any damage to my computer.  I have never encountered this problem before when I built other systems.  The screen suggests that I should check my HDD's for viruses or check to see if they are configured correctly.  The HDD's are SATA and I have them set up in RAID 0 mode and yeah I installed the RAID drivers during the installation process.  Thinking that I had made mistake setting up the SATA drives, tried installing windows using a regular IDE hard drive and it gave the same message.  I am stumped anybody have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?  Any help would be appreciated .  My system specs are below.
    MSI k7n2 delta-ilsr mobo
AMD 3000+ Athlon XP cpu (333 fsb)
ATI Raedon 9000 ( I know it's crappy , I'm still saving up for the ATI all in wonder 9800 )

    x2 maxtor 80gb maxtor hdd's
    x1 regular cd-rom drive
    x1 floppy drive

Memory that comes with timing of 5 2 2 2 or 6 2 2 2 or usally winbond BH-5 memory chips. Ones with 5 3 2 2 or CH-5 winbond chips. The BH-5 chips overclock a little better than the CH-5. (Muskin uses BH-5 winbond in there black ram)
Winbond is no longer making BH-5 chips but is going to make a limited run of them as demend is high for them.
The first number shown here is the Traz and it controls the flush timing bench testing is showing that a higher number of 9, 10 or 11 or getting better bench results than the 6 or 5. Thats with Dual Channel memory.
The timing you show probly should be something  like 8 3 3 3 or 8 3 3 2.5 unless it is there faster Dual channel ram.
The timing numbers can also appear like this 2 2 2 5 the high number is the Traz either way.
Look on your memory manufactor web site for the timing that if should run at also look at the voltage as this can make a big differance.

    Hi,
Your problem is not the same, SiliconMan is trying to connect with a dial-up modem not LAN. It's hard to troubleshoot though since you didn't provide any info about your computer. Good Luck
