K7N2 Delta Post Bios Boot faliure

I just bought the motherboard set it all up and powered it on and all the fans spin up but make a rapid speeding up and slowing down noise.  i took the motherboard back to the shop and they replaced it and tested my new one in shop and it worked fine.  i took it home put the processor ram and gfx card in and the same problem happened again.  on the d-bracket it says its a Processor problem ive tried another processor in it and got the same problem.  also the Led's on the d-bracket flash on and off instead of being constantly on.
i am using 512mb Corsair 3200 400mhz Platinum Ram, AMD Athlon XP 2400+ also tried 1700+ to no avail and a Radeon 9700pro.  i dont understand what could be wrong as it worked fine in the shop with their ram and 1700+ cpu  ;( i could just cry.  i have also tried swapping out the power supply with another one :O any help into this problem would be greatly appriciated.

Thepower supply im using is a Q Tec 550watt Gold it is a really good power supply the only thing i could check is swap the memory around the slots and take the motherboard out the chassis and see if it works then...could be a short inside the case :'(. i have cleared the cmos memory and set it to safe 100mhz fsb.i was under the imprestion that the MSI K7N2 Delta was a good mobo i must of been mistaken :'(.  what make of ram do you guys use and where could i get some :D BTW i live in th UK (England).  im not overclocking anything either  :]

  • K7N2 Delta Athlon 2600+ Boot Problem!!

Hey this is my first post...
    Here is my comp:
    K7N2 Delta Series MB
    Athlon XP 2600+
    Thermaltake Volcano 7+
    512 DDR PC3200
    GeForce 4 Ti 4200
I noticed that my comp is booting at 1200 mhz. My comp is reading the CPU as a 1.2. I checked the bios and turned the fsb up to 200 mhz because my friend said he read in a forum that it was ok to do so. I did this and now my comp doesn't read my video card. It boots up ok just I have no picture. I have tried resetting the bios and still I have no pic. My questions are this:
1)Am I not flashing the bios correctly, and if so what is the best way to do it?
2)Could I have permanently damaged the motherboard or video card?
3)If none of the above what do you guys recommend I do to fix the problem and what have I done to create the problem in the first place?
Well if you can please help. I really want to be able to see windows again or even the bios!
    Thanks

set jumper j10 to pins 1-2 and remove jumper j11. set cmos jumper to clear........unplug the power from wall....... press your power button to relieve any charge left in the mb.........now place cmos jumper to save......plug power back in, and try to start it.......if all goes well and it fires up set bios defaults....save and exit bios.............replace j11 and set j10 to pins 2-3.......and restart.
btw jmbook 166 fsb is also overclocking a 2600......default is 133 so take baby steps.

  • K7N2 Delta Won't Boot

    Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and I hope you guys can help me out. I'm having power issues with my box. It won't boot!!!!   This is was it does powers up then shuts right down. It doesn't boot long enough for me to check anything. It continues to do this if I don't unplug it. Please guys I dying here.
    Here's my configuration:
    Samsung CDRW
    Pioneer DVDRW
    Seagate 20g OS Drive
    Seagate 80g Data Drive
    Sound: Creative Audigy2 w/ remote
    512MB Samsung memory
I bought a brand new power supply thinking that would solve my problem. But to no avail that didn't work. So, I disconnected the power and reset cables from the motherboard and jumped the board and it still does the same thing.   And it's driving me nutts.   I checked the processor and its cool. Could it be a memory problem? I remember getting memory errors like for a week before. Sorry for the long post for a newbie to the forum.

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta 2 LSR boot/power up issues

I installed the K7N2 Delta LSR mb with an Athlon XP socket A 3000+ cpu.  The computer turns on but won't boot.  Nothing appears on the monitor screen and there are no beeps.  The harddrive spins, the board has power but nothing happens. When I put my old mother board back (MSI K7T Pro266A) in with the Athlon 2000+, everything works fine.
    Maxtor 60 gb harddrive
512 MB SD pc2100 SD Ram
Abit 128 mb Radeon 9200SE Video card
    Any suggestions?

    A few things to check:
Do you have any unused stand offs in the case touching the motherboard
The XP3000 CPU is a barton core and comes in two variants, a 333FSB and a 400FSB version.  Your RAM is PC2100 which with an Nforce chipset is a recipie for problems. The NForce chipset is picky about RAM and PC2100 running on a PC2700/PC3200 processor FSB probably won't work.
Also post your PSU max amps, as a +12V rail below 16A could cause problems.
Do you have a D-Bracket connected ?  This is the PCI insert with 4 leds on ?

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Bios v.7.6 ??When??

    Hello,
I just asked myself when MSI is going to publish a new Bios Update above the 7.6 for the K7N2 Delta ILSR mainboard !!! I think it's time for a new Bios update, because of the few problems with this mainboard !!!!

    Quote
He has confirmed the ports are present on the board....
I have seen this in earlier Nf2 Pre Delta boards where it was there but if you had disabled it, and then flashed the BIOS, it would dissapear. The only way to get it back was to flash to an earlier version, make sure it is enabled, then you can flash to the latest.
That is why I always clear the CMOS when starting a new build. You may have a board that may have been fiddled with, believe it or not, it does happen from time to time.
Have you tried the Default BIOS Settings Option in the BIOS? Perhaps you loaded the Performance option and that is why it is hiding?
    this worked, thx a lot

  • K7n2 delta no bios post

I had my system up and running. But was in the bios and made the mistake of putting front side bus to 166 after this it wouldn't boot to bios. Have to manually diconnect power supply as button wouldn't work. Reset pins on j10 and rebooted set bios to default it said fsb was 166 hit f10 to save settings and exit. Still couldn't get to bios so iI cleared the cemos and rebooted got to the bios and fsb was 100 I changed to 133 hit f10 to save and rebooted no bios again. Tried clearing cemos and changing jumpers around several times no luck. Took system down and removed vidio card and ram and put them back in got system to boot to bios. I hit f10 to save settings and restart (changed nothing from what it was when i got into bios) but when it rebooted no bios screen again and each time this happens I need to disconnect power from computer by unplugging as power switch doesn't work then.

okay i managed to get the computer running by removing one stick of ram. Problem i have now is it says it is only running at 1730 here are the results of cpu id. oh and i am sure i have a 2700 installed.

Installed the MB tonight.  Cannot boot to existing WINXP home.  Get BSOD whel loading.   Stop Error 7B.  Cannot boot from XP Home CD.  Some other BSOD stop error.
Bios pretty much defaults.  Disables a few things like serial ports (been disabled on other MB as well).
System has been fine on SoYo Dragon Ultra Black.  Installed ECS K7VTA3 yesterday.  System worked OK, but decided to go to MSI today.  Now, no boot.
Tried changing memory, disconnecting all but boot disk, no luck.
    Any ideas?

    Building a new system. Has 2800+ Barton CPU, 512m Mushkin PC2700 in slot 1, GeForce4 MX440 w/64m. Memorex 40 CD-R and Teac 12X CD-ROM.
Went into Bios setup fine and set req'd settings.
When trying to boot off of CDROM to install XP, Floppy makes the usual noise, DMI pool info comes up, nVidia boot agent appears after "Boot from CDROM" msg appears.
I'm getting a "PXE-EX61 Media test failure, check cable" msg, then "Disk boot failure" msg.
I've tried both cdr and cdrom drives together AND separately, but neither one works. I know the cable is good.
Also have tried using cdrom AND floppy as 1st boot devices, with same result. I've read 12+ pages of earlier posts and replies with only 1 post similar to mine. Tried hooking up only 1 optical drive and using the floppy as the 1st boot device as suggested, but no luck.
    Any other suggestions?

    davida62,
Try the XP CD in another comp. Make sure it is not the issue. Also you would try the drives in another comp to make sure they will boot from the CD.
When we have the answers to those questions we can proceed with the troubleshooting of your comp.

  • K7N2 Delta, Fasttrack Bios probs

Well I just put together my new PC
    K7N2 Delta_ILSR
    XP2800 Barton
    512ddr PC2700 CorsairXMS ram
    GF4TI4600 (Overclocked a little)
    52x cd
    plextor cdrw
    60gb 7200rpm hdd
    Windows XP pro
Well it all went swimmingly adn works fine.  Just got to get used to XP.  My problem is when it boots up it loads the Award Bios fine then after registering all the drives etc I get the following reading
Fasttrack 376(tm) BIOS VERSION 1.00.0.21(c) 2002-2005 Promise Technology
No drive attached to fasttrack controller, The BIOS is not installed.
Now i think this is somthing to do with the Sata setup.  I have installed the drivers and all is ok, is this displayed purely as i dont have a SATA hdd yet? if so is there any way of making it so it doesnt appear??
Other than that I like my new system its really fast  :D
Thanks for any replies in advance

Yes, its because you dont have any drives attached, this still shows even if you have installed the drivers off the floppy.
You could try what I have just done and put your main HD on IDE3, then you still have 4 IDE connections to use as you please.

  • [nForce] MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR; bios, neither windows recognize IEEE1394

    Hello,
Since 2 years I have used a msi motherboard. Now since I dont have IEEE1394 of an external card anymore (Audigiy), i tried to connect my digital camera with the IEEE1394 to the motherboard. Rebooted my pc, windows doesnt recognize new hardware. i'm going to look in the bios, and see that my bios (bios 7.8) is different from the one explained in the manual (see pic). I tried to downgrade my bios to 7.2, to know if it is the 7.8 version that has the problem. but it was the same, no option for IEEE1394.
    Normally have you this:
But I dont see this option for the IEEE1394 in my bios....

Well bios updates fix these ram issues? I have Kingston hyperx 3500, was on the ok list for ram, dont thank it is now.  ;(

    AMD 2800+barton

Yes, I did mean the CPU.  Corrected it now .......
Thanks, I've done that and it's now showing 1800.  Much easier than updating the BIOS.
My temperatures have gone up a bit, though.  CPU is now 47C (was 44C) and system is 37C (was 35C) in PCAlert4, and I'm only on the net and playing mp3s, so it's not exactly hard load!!.  Is this OK?  I really worry about overheating since my old mobo was unstable at lower system temps than this.

  • K7n2 delta series: bios settings & FSB

    Hello! All
    Happy Easter holidays!
Currently, I have my board fsb settings at 133 mhz and have an AMD 3000 Athlon, my question is: What settings should I have my FSB settings on? I would like to maximize my bios settings and I feel 133 mhz I am not maximizing system performance. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

    ReneH,
Your min FSB should be 166Mhz. Which flavor 3000+ do you have, since I think that one came in both 166Mhz (2.16GHz) and 200Mhz (2.1GHz) FSB's.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. But with no specs on your comp and my Chrystal Ball in the shop for repairs, I can only take a spab in the dark.

ANyone else having trouble connecting the cat cords to the on-board lan jack? I used homemade and store bought cat5 cable. both have world standard rj-45 plug. does not fit into the on-board LAN jack. The notch on the top is too big for the on-board LAN jack. so i am left scratchign my head.
Also, I can seem to utilize the MSI features like the live update 2. I will up date the bios but it only install 33% and then freezes on all updates thru :live updates 2" anyone else having trouble?

    Brink,
Not too sure about your NIC connectors  ?(
I would flash my BIOS the old fashioned way using a bootable floppy containing the flash program and the bin file.
