I would just push the FSB up till it starts to give problems and then back off a little and stop. If not unlock it and go for 200Mhz FSB and see where you can get to without adjusting the power.
There are quite a few articles on overclocking the 2500+ on the net and well worth the read to see what Voltage they are using.
Sorry I cannot be more help at the moment.

Here's my system spec's.
The pc with the problems: Mobo msi k7n2-v, 1 gig kingston pc2100 ram, asylum fx 5200 ultra, xp 2600+, Antec 300 watt power supply windows xp.
Now, i had a ati rage fury pro in my working pc. Which i upgraded to the Fx5200 everything worked fine. When i moved the Fx5200 to the new pc, i had display problems. Dots on the screen at boot and at post bars going from the top to the bottom of the screen when windows started i had bars across the screen, the whole system was unstable. When i took the Fx5200 out and put the rage fury in everything was fine.
I have the latest bios, the board is jumpered correctly. And i know the cards are ok because i swaped the cards between systems.
At first i thought i had a problem with the card and the FSB. But now i'm thinking its a power supply problem.
Both systems are alike other then the cards and the cpu, that the xp2600+ takes far more power then my athlon and the fx5200 doesnt have enough power to work correctly.
I guess what i'm wordering is, am i right? Because i cann't think what else it could be.
Working pc: Mobo abit kt7a, 512 megs pc133 ram, athlon 1 gig, Antec 300 watt power supply, windows 98.I found the irq it's not sharing..
But i didnt want to hear that about the ram, LOL.
Whats the worst that can happen at running it like that?
You see what i did was i bought a MSI KM2M-L combo board, then i found out the board didnt support the cpu i ordered. So i did some looking around and seen the K7n2 did and the part numbers for the ram was the same so i was hoping i could use it as i couldn't send the chip or ram back.
Oh lord, how much cash am i going to have to throw at this thing. -
Best setting for K7N2-L and 3000+ (333FSB)
I am kind of new to the overclocking world. I have the following setup:
500 Watt ATX power Supply
K7N2-L Motherboard w/400mhz FSB
AMD XP 3000+ Barton Core at 333 FSB
1Gb (2x512) Generic PC3200 DDR SDRAM (400 FSB)
I also have
Nvidia FX 5600 w/ 256mb DDR
WD 7200 120 HD
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
I want to make sure that I'm gettin the best speed for my setup. The POST says the memory is at 400 mhz and it does say that the CPU is 3000+. Is that as good as it gets or can I go more.
Any replies are greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
SekaiDragonDo I need to mess with my multiplier or my memory settings?
I have it at 175 FSB which has my CPU Running at 2.28 Ghz. I tried it at 180 FSB and my Command and Conquers - Generals - Zero Hour Quit after 1 minute saying there was a hardware problem. It's been running fine for 2 hours on 175 FSB.
On sandra it says performance rating for the cpu is PR3306, do you know what that means?
I'm going to go take a look at the stickies now...
Thanks again,

[nForce] has somebody MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR + barton mobile
I wanted to know if there is a possibility of changing cpu ratio because msi kt4av did't see this cpu as mobile. on epox 8rda3+,8rda3+pro, and abit everything is ok. Has there somebody such mainboard with this cpu? Does mainboard seethis cpu correctly? And does somebody know if how to change the cpu ratio in barton mobile's bios.i wanna buy MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR
Frequency/Voltage Control in BIOS
"CPU FSB Clock"
"CPU Ratio" (multiplier)
that is from KT4AV manual
mobile CPUs aren't properly identified on most boards, but that is merely a "cosmetic touch" -

New K7N2/CPU and IRQL_Not_Less_Or Equal promblem rebooting ??
Hi I hope some one can help me here I have just brought a new K7N2 Delta L and XP3200 Barton CPU and im haveing major promblems with it blue screening in games the msg with the blue screen is as follows.
Driver IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal
Then some technical info numders and then this
USBOHCI.sys (Address numbers here that change every time)
I have done some searching on this and didnt get many results back at all, from what I can gather its too do with IRQs I think. I have checked what IRQs are being used under device manager by recource by connection and nothing seems to be shearing a IRQ.
Also I think this may have something to do with USB2, I have set in the bios for the onboard USB devices to be only USB 1.1 as I dont want to install Windows XP SP1 (the only way to get USB 2 support in Windows XP from what I can gather.)
This only happens in games and does not happen when just using Windows XP for browsing/CD/DVD writing and all the other stuff you use windows for, also its very random in the time it takes for it to happen.
BTW I also did a complete clean reinstall od the Windows XP only loading up the sound card drivers and ATI drivers DX9b and a game and it still gave me the blue screen and the same error.
In my bios I have disable all onboard devices like Lan & sound cards LPT & Comm ports too.
Anybody able to help me as im getting ready to take the MB back and get a ASUS in exchange, BTW i really like the MSI its just is really annoying me.Hi thanks for the reply ok I connect to the net via a Zykel Prestige 630 USB modem

i cant set my fsb to 166.
i have 2 stiks of corsair XMS pc 3200 (2 x 512)
k7n2 delta mobo
ati 9800 pro vid card
dvd drive
cd drive
thing is, someone suggested that my problem could be the power supply, the power supply i have has lower amps than the minimum suggested here. so i guess i should upgrade my powersupply or is there any other compatibility issues between the cpu and mobo?
thank you for your time.if less than that then yes

[nForce] K7N2 board and Soundblaster PCI 128 soundcard
I am running w2k with all uptodate service packs. I have an MSI K7N2 motherboard with uptodate drivers (downloaded today!) and having problems with a Creative PCI 128 soundcard. The gameport controller will not work as in Device Manager it says it can't find enough resources. I have swapped PCI slots, removed all other PCI devices and tried to change the resource configuration in Device Manger but was unsuccessful. I can't see any other devices conflicting with the soundcard and nothing shows in System Information as using the same resource as the soundcard. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
TonySorry for not giving good news, but your'e wellcome !

KT266 Pro2-RU + mobile barton XP2500+M
There's been a lot on this forum about the modded bios etc which enables the 6380 v2 motherboard to be compatible with the later T'bred and thornton chips.
But searching through the maze of users' comments I've failed to locate anything saying that it is also compatible with the Barton chip, specifically the mobile Barton chips.
I currently use a 2 year old Thunderbird 1200mhz chip, and would like to upgrade to a Barton 2500+ mobile chip, as it's the only 266mhz Barton chip I can find in the UK. I assume that I cannot use a 333fsb chip on my mobile, unless it is unlocked an I can move the multiplier high enough?
I am utterly confused with the products that AMD have on offer. Is there anywhere where their performances have been compared? Is a T'bred 2500+ significanly slower than a Barton 2500+ because of the 512kb L2 cache?
CheersHi all for again,
I have K7T 266Pro2 - RU (MS-6380)
What is the max speed of processor/fastest procesor, which can I safely use? - I would like stable system too - I want NOT using overclocking...
1) If I make all mods to work with Thoroughbred (update to BIOS 3.7, remove C37), it will work with Thorton?
2) What is the max configuration (speed) with K7T 266 Pro2 - RU? I read much in this forum, but I'am very foggy. Is it 133 * 15 or 133 * 17.5 (with set auto in BIOS or HOW?)
What is the max configuration without doing some special mods (e.g. on processor) only with changing settings in BIOS and with removed C37?
What is the best and fastest choice of processor?
Many thanks for any advice and very sorry for my very poor english. -
I've got an unlocked XP2500 with excellent steppings that I'm having trouble getting stable at the higher speed.
The mobo has the latest Bios. The cpu has posted at 2.4 ghz (12x200) but Windows wouldn't boot.
I've had windows loaded at 2.3 ghz (11.5x200) and all seems fine till I start a game. Can any one tell me what the best setting are to push this cpu and be stable. I've got 1 stick of PNY PC3200 (512mb). The video card is a 4x GF4 T4200. Could this be a weak link? Any and all ideas are appreciated. If you need more info please ask. Thanks.1wizard4u,
You have two week links, your RAM and your Vid Card. You want sticks of RAM, at least a total of 1Gb for most modern games, and you want at least a 6600GT and I would recommend at least a X850XT.
As for your OC, try jacking up the multiplier and lowering the FSB, you will still get the Ghz out of the CPU but will have a better chance at a stable overclock. You might need to boost the voltage on the CPU and/or RAM.
Take Care,
Richard -
Im wanting to know with any K7N2 board what is the highest FSB people can reach?
Im wanting to test my 2100+ but im looking for a bit of info first. This is the best CPU i have ever used and dont really want to fry this one. I know 133 (266) to 200 (400) is a big increase already but i feel it can do more :DWell I Tested my little ole 2100+ a bit ago 205 FSB (410) is as far as i could get without it messing up other things. When i set it to 210 FSB it booted and worked just fine but only showed like 1050MHz it was going back to a 5 multi even when it is unlocked and set to 11 or 10.5 and the Vcore went back to stock voltage.
I guess thats not bad for a 133FSB CPU an increase of 72FSB (144MHz) But i guess ill just leave it be at 200 UNLESS somehow i run into a KT6 Delta board :D
P.S.
Dont ask me how it happened but when i was testing, turning computer on and off by sure protector i threw the breaker to my room and i was in pitch dark, I got Skeered 8o -
MSI K7N2 ILSR and TwinMos Twister?

Does anyone have an idea if the TwinMos Twister PC3200 dual-channel kit is compatible with K7N2 ILSR?
Thanks.Just to clarify, I too have seen TwinMos being used, but have yet to see the TwiSTER series being used.

Kinda silly marketing scheme if you ask me. A compatability report is available, however, only the K7N420 is listed...I never went any further than that.
Like I said, it's unknown territory. -
Install XP failed with K7N2 DeltaILSR and 3200+
I spent a few days on truong to install win XP on my new material (K7N2 Delta ILSR and AMD Athlon XP 3200+).
Each time I was trying to boot from the Mircosoft boot disks (6 floppy's), I was getting a blue screen with error code 0x0000008e, and unable to install XP.
After looking in the posts, I found that the problem could be the BIOS settings.
I changed the FSB from 200Mhz (for my XP3200+), back to the BIOS default settings (166Mhz) and .... IT WORKED.
I'm now able to install XP ...
I'll change the FSB back to 200Mhz when XP is installed.
Any technical idea on why XP install doesn't support 200Mhz on Motherboard ?!?
Thanks !Concerning the Fan, yes, that's all ...
2 fans on my PSY, 1 on my CPU, 1 on my motherboard and 1 small for my graphic card.
P.S. : If I want an additional "big" ;-) fan, where do I need to place it ?
Does it neet to be "attached" to my tower, and exhaust to the outside of the tower, or let it inside the tower to make an air flow inside only ?!? I'm asking because there is no "grid" on my tower where I could place a fan to exhaust air...
Concerning Windows, my CD is 1 of the first one and was not bootable ... so I used the set of 6 floppies provided by microsoft. They are used to load the necessary "kernel" to load windows with the CD afterwards, in case your Hard drive is empty :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?productID=&freetext=XP+boot+floppy&DisplayLang=en
But I also tried an other Win XP CD that is Bootable.
In both cases, the computer is giving a blue screen after the "Kernel" is loaded (i.e. floppy #6).
PC is still in a shop for further testings of the components.
I'll keep you posted on this problem that is recurrent on internet ... where most of the people accept to "underclock" their CPU !! -
K7N2 ILSR and Coolermaster Aero 7 Problems?
do the K7N2 ILSR support the Coolermaster Aero 7 LITE ? Cause I have one of those, and I wont change to another MSI if I cant use that, its brand new :( Also, would there be any problems with my new GFX5900 SPVTD, also this is MSI.
cause when look at this I se that there are alot of those conductors(?) behnd the AGP slot, wont my card break them in the insertion phase?
http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/data/articles/2003/773/mobo-1.jpgOk, I dont thinkl there would be any problem with the gfx then, and it would be strange if msi did a motherboard that dosent fit one of thier own cards...
this is the sink I was talking about, the coolermaster...

MSI KT4V and Barton 3000+ crash problem
Hi all!
I recently upgraded my PC (MSI KT4V) with an AMD Barton 3000+ CPU. Before I had a 2600+ Throughbred.
With my old 2600+ I could run my system stable with a FSB set at 166. It couldn't go much higher that 175 before the system became unstable.
With my new Barton I have a problem :
With my FSB set at 166 games like Far Cry and COD crashes. Explorer crashed at sites with Flash content (flash.ocx error report) otherwise no problems. My Pinnacle studio 7 program couldn't render playable movies.
After I underclocked my CPU, setting the FSB at 154 giving me a total speed of 2GHz, all problems are gone now
My system reports a CPU temp at 48 degrees celsius at a 166 FSB setting but could it be a cooling problem anyway?
I have used Artic Silver as thermal paste on the CPU die.
I have reset my memory timings to CAS 2,5 even though the Corsair RAM supports CAS 2 to get the most stable system.
Is the KT 400 chipset up for the job with the increased speed?
I would like to get the most performance out of my new Barton so I hope that some of you guys can help me out here.
My system spec is :
Win XP SP1 and SP2
CPU : AMD Barton XP 3000+
Motherboard : MSI KT4V (Bios 1C0)
Soundcard : SB Audigy 2
Graphics card : Radeon 9800pro 256
Memory : 1GB Corsair XMS (CAS 2)
Power suply : Antec 480W
All latest drivers installed
Best Regards
BasseHi Osnavi!
48 degrees is an idle temp and about 51 stressed.
The processor is an Athlon 3000+ 333MHz
The cooler is a Thermaltake Silent Boost
I have 2 modules 512 MB Corsair XMS PC 2700 333MHz placed in slot 1 and 3
I forgot to tell that I ran memtest386 with the fsb set at 166 and I had error reports on the 128Kb L1 cache right away. Lowering the fsb to 154, the memtest came out alright.
Should I remove the heatsink and reaply cooling paste - silver-free maybe?
Strange
Any ideas are welcome
Best regards
Basse
