K7n2 ms6570 tbred 2400+ o/c issues

Here is my set up:
k7n2 (ms-6570) motherboard
athlon xp 2400+ (Tbred)
2 CD burners
8 case fans
radeon 9700 pro vid card
1 hard drive
1 floppy drive
1x 256 (400mhz) ram
1x 512 (333mhz) ram dual channel
350 watt psu
Im not sure if my cpu is unlocked or not, but in my bios, I can see multipliers from 6 to 13.  I know for sure my cpu is default at 15, but I cant see it in my bios.  I cant seem to get my system to boot properly when I choose any of the lower multiplyers.  I set my mem to 1:1 and high performance.  It seems I am doing everything right, but the only way I can seem to overclock is by upping the fsb and leaving the multiplyer at stock 15.  I have done the wire trick, but I still cant lower the multiplier.  Could this be a power supply issue?  Any suggestions?

Ok, I think my cpu is newer than 39 weeks.  Does this mean the wire trick doesnt work?  Does this mean, I have to paint the bridges or is it just locked and theres nothing I can do about it?  Can someone give me a link to what im supposed to do to unlock it?

  • K7N2 MS6570 Video Controller- driver not found

    Hello All,
After a clean install of W2K all of a sudden the Video Card and my Intel V.92 Modem weren't being detected.  I got the modem to install by going into device manager and deleting the yellow question mark for PCI Simple  Communications Controller but no matter what I have tried I still get a yellow question mark for Video Controller (VGA Compatible) in device manager.  The driver can't be found on the Mobo Disk, in W2K sp4, Video card driver disk.  All say not found or no such driver.  Also the video card is showing up on POST but after that, nothing, no where is it being detected.
I have taken out and reseated the video card, cleared the CMOS, been into BIOS to check that ESCD was set to Auto, booted into Safe Mode and tried to get it detected from there, nothing has worked.  Specs for the system are:
    AMD Barton 2800+
    512 MB DDR 333 PC 2700 RAM
PNY Gforce FX 5200 128 MB
    CDR/RW
    Lite On DVD ROM
    K7N2 MS6570 Mobo
    W2K SP4
    500 watt PSU
The reason I say I think something has really gone wrong is that prior to the reinstall of W2K everything was working just fine, better than I ever expected it to work.  No hardware was put in or taken out, the system wasn't even opened up for anything, just a clean reinstall of W2K.  If anyone has any suggestions at all I would really appreciate it, I'm about at my wits end here.
    Thanks very much,  LG;)

    Hi,
Have you DirectX installed? - If not download and install it. Also, have you tried installing latest video card drivers - from either your Video card manufacturer or nVidia's website?
Sometimes it's better to run the driver's auto-install program, rather than allowing Windows to look for the driver itself - AFAIK, the install procedure unpacks all it's files to hard drive then accesses this directory in order to install the drivers (this is the case with ATI software, anyway.) I suspect your drivers on CD are packed - this is why Windows can't find them.

  • K7N2 (MS6570) m/board errors

I bought motherboard 5 months ago and running fine for current specs until today, it suddently hang without notice and refuce to boot. But sometimes when i can boot successful, it will :-
    1. Hang during windows booting (blank screen); or
    2. Immediately after windows success loading (hang up); or
    3. When i play vcd (monitor shutdown, pc still on).
Even i have reinstall windows xp, still the same.
If it happen to boot failed during pc startup, the LED show 1-Red, 2-Red, 3-Red, 4-Green (testing cpu clock & vga) and i can heard siren.
I tried to change agp, but still same errors.
Could anybody can help me? Is this a hardware or software problem and how to solve?
    My pc specs:
    MSI K7N2 (MS6570) with agp build-in
    2 x Kingston value DDR333 512MB
    1 x Seagate Baracuda IV (60GB)
    1 x Quantum Fireball lct10 (15GB)
    1 x Sony 16x DVD Rom
    1 x Sony 4x CDRW
    1 x Asus GeForce4 440MX SE 64MB
    Power Supply 400watt
    Temperature between 37c-47c
    Thank you.

I have try to switch the ram but no help. Still hang.
Then i found that my processor's fan was not functioning, after changing the fan, i still cannot boot the pc.
So i used Duron 800 to test, now i can boot to the windows, and it can run for 2 hours, then hang again.
What is wrong? Is that too hot? Or both my m/board and cpu already melt because the fan malfunction yesterday?

  • [nForce] K7N2 - MS6570 - Maximum HD 160gb??

I am trying to help someone with a query they have. They are looking to buy a 250/300gb for some extra space, but according to the products general faq the maximum HD size is 160gb.
Someone has told me that its possible to split the drive into 2 partitions, so that each partition falls under the 160gb size limit. Is this true, or is 160 really the total size??
    Many thanks for any advice

Earlier versions of windows imposed limits on the size of the hard drive due to the file structure (FAT32).  XP uses NTFS and with SP1 it has removed any limit on the size of the HD.
XP can recognize and use a FAT32 file system on a HD but Windows 98 (uses FAT32) can't recognize a NTFS file system on a HD.
The 250gig can be installed and used as a slave only with XP if you use it on a single partition.  It has to be partitioned and formatted with FAT32 when used with a FAT32 based OS.
great. thanks very much for all your advice

  • K7N2 with xp1800= tbred reboot problems

    K7N2, xp1800 tbred, win98se,
I can up the fsb and change the cpu muliplier through bios no problem, but
after I shut down for any length of time it won't reboot. The monitor stays
    dark.
I have to manually change the jumper to put the fsb in safe mode ( 100mhz fsb)
then reboot and go into bios and reload the bios setup defaults.
After that I shut down change the jumper back then reboot and start all over
again( changing the cpu ratio and fsb speed).
It will work fine  until I shut down for a while. Then it starts all overagain.
Anybody have any ideas what to do?
    Thanks

Of course this was a few days after their 15 day replacement policy so had to rma MSI directly.
They wouldn't just give you a new board and RMA the faulty one themselves? I don't get shops that work like that - how the hell do they keep customers??? We give at least a 1 year warranty on all our parts, and if it's a bad part, they get a new board. We take care of the RMA. Any other way to do it is just plain rude and ridiculous.
No wonder people don't trust us (computer techs/shops) when retailers pull that kind of crap.

  • K7t Turbo2 and an AMD Athlon XP 2600+

I recently flashed the BIOS on my K7t Turbo2 board to the 3.6 version which supports AMD Athlon XP processors up to 2600+.  However, after I installed the new cpu, set the core voltage to 1.65, the multiplier to 11.5 and the DCM value to 166 the computer would not boot.  Instead I received a simple "Beep" then two to three seconds later, another "Beep."  This continues to no avail and it takes almost ten "hard reboots" which is killing my hard disks to even get back into the BIOS configuration, wherein I modified the DCM settings to 133 instead of 166.  Now the computer boots but continues to tell me:
    Unknown Processor at 1533mhz
When I did get it to run at 1910mhz (notice 1910, not 1917 as it should be), it also said Unknown Processor.  Then, on one of the three ocassions I was actually able to boot the computer at the higher clock speed, none of my drives appeared.  On the second ocassion, the Linux boot process froze and on the third, Windows XP wouldn't boot.  Now, if anyone has any suggestions as to what BIOS settings I can try, or even resetting my BIOS to a previous version, then trying to reflash it, that would be great....  If, however, this is more of an issue with an MSI BIOS patch, please release another version that works.   Thanks much!
    -Adam

Go with the Tbred 2400+ bud, Thats what i have at the mo in my KT3 Ultra 2C, and with my old MSI ti4200 with 128mb, it kept up with a K7N2 Delta ILSR which is running a Barton 2600+ and an MSI FX5600XT with 256mb (that rig only beats me on the extra test in 2001se and 2003 that the FX card covers).
Cant wait for my K7N2 Delta ILSR to arrive to go with my Ti4600.
Should happily blow the Barton rig away

  • GeForce FX 5900 XT, DirectX 8 & 9 games hang -- solved.

    This was my original posting:
I have recently bought a MSI GeForce FX 5900 XT VTD128. To my surprise I have exprerienced numerous crashes in games that use DirectX 8 or better. The games pauses and I get a blue Windows XP (retail version - 5.1.2600 - , without Service Pack 1) crash screen that says the game was stopped to prevent any damage to Windows and some things I should check (wich I did) and in the technical part:
    *** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xF7D83E2D, 0xBA2DC29C, 0x00000000)
    *** nv4_mini.sys - Address F7D83E2D base at F7CD9000, DateStamp 3fb91de8
Those hexadecimal are not within the range of memory addresses the VGA card uses.
I get the error with Freedom Fighters, GTA Vice City, GTAIII, Crazy Taxi. The latter crashing much more than the former.
I tried ePSXe (the playstation emulator) using Pete's OpenGL 2 vga plugin, wich uses T&L and pixel shader and I had no problems.
Games that use OpenGL or DirectX 7 or less seem to work fine. This was checked with Quake III and Severance: Blade of Darkness.
DirectX 9.0b tests on DirectDraw and Direct3D found no problems, plus all the files are OK.
Afterwards a friend who works repairing PCs, recommended a clean install with the latest drivers for the motherboard as well as the lastest 53.03 vga drivers (MSI version). All this to no avail; I get the same message.
I've also tried vga drivers 52.16 and 53.06 (Beta), as well as disabling Fast Writes in the motherboard BIOS.
A web search only lead me to some driver pages. MSI have no troubleshooting help about the matter, at least that I could find, neither in the manual nor the website.
I have tried using my old NVidia Vanta again and GTAIII works perfect.
Both cards use IRQ 19 and don't share it.
I've noticed that DirectX acknowledges different files to both VGAs. Vanta's principal controller file is nv4.dll whereas 5900's nv4_disp.dll. The small VDD files are nv4.sys and nv4_mini.sys respectively.
Also nv4_disp.dll has no digital signature while all the others do.
Is there any diagnostic utility I could use to better pinpoint the problem I'm having?
    Thanks for reading this far.
After this cry for help I didn't want to wait for a star to fall so I kept on doing homework. I delved deeper into the forums and found in the mobos forum a thread with a reply that said that bios 7.40 for K7N2 delta-ILSR solved an incompatibility issue with Geforce FX 5900 and another with a way to clean the remains of uninstalled drivers.
I was not up to flashing the bios yet so I tried the vga in two other different PCs.
The first one had Win98 with a  mobo M810MR with DIMM RAM. It worked awfully. It crashed when double clicking an icon, didn't run many games and even didn't pass the DirectX tests. That with 4X.XX drivers (I don't quite remember the version). With 53.03 (MSI version) I wasn't as unstable but still had many problems.
Another PC entered into the scene. One with WinXP and Linux, as well as a KT2V PRo Dual with DDR RAM. In WinXP still couldn't run any games or 3dMark. It even rebooted it a couple of times, just out of the blue. In Linux it worked fine but didn't try any 3D games (didn't have any). It was detected as a Generic GeForce FX though.
Before sending my vga to another region of the country (something I wasn't very prone to do in the least, as I had to pay for sending and retreiving it) so the vendor could try it and replace it (if he found it faulty).
THE ALMIGHTY SOLUTION: for those too eager to stand my babbling this is what worked.
I flashed the bios up to version 7.60 and uninstalled the drivers and used Driver Cleaner. It works without any problems now. I tried it in my other 'test' brand new WinXP install without using Driver Cleaner and it seems that flashing the bios was enough. Although I would recommend using it.
Well, that's all. I thought it could be useful to have all this in one piece.
    Thanks to all that cared.

You guys didn't read the post fully SPAMMERS
He solved his problem by updating the BIOS to the latest version, he has the nVidia Chipset based motherboard and there was a known issue related to the FX series video cards. This is nForce specific.... period

  • Gaming preformance

Im not sure if anyone can help me here but i'll give it a try :D . Im getting chopping and unsmooth gameplay sometimes in bf1942, il2 fb, and postal 2. I have downloaded all the appropiate drivers.  In bf1942, gameplay gets choppy whenever im in a building, outside seems to run fine. In postal 2, the textures sometimes dont move around smoothy whenever i look around in circles, they seem to move in patches(kinda of hard to explain). Seeing as how I more than meet the recommended requirements, i think I should be getting better preformance in 800 X 600 resolution that I run my games.  My 3dmark score was 1007, which is horrible.  I dont use AA or AF, as I know my card cant handle it.  Any suggestions would be apprcieated.  Thanks.

Im using 3dmark03, the lateste version.  Im acutally not surprised I socred low on that seeing as how the tests seem to be done with AA and AF on.  Ill post my dxdiag for you guys for reference.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Questions & RAID Promise FastTrak Controller Issue

I have recently rebuilt my system replacing the MSI KT3 with an MSI K7N2 Delta. I have been impressed with the features and stability of the system, however, I have some questions that I hope some of you that have more experience of this board can answer:
    1. I am using the AMD Athlon XP 2200 (and all the other components including the Lian Li case) which I was using on the KT3 board. The CPU temperature is around 45 degrees C but on the KT3 it was only 35 degrees C when idle. Any ideas ? The heatsink is definetly mounted properly. The temperature did drop by 10 degrees C when I flashed the
BIOS to fix the known CPU temperature issue but I think its still high.
    2. I do not have any serial ATA devices or anything connected to IDE3 channel and during the BIOS boot up I get the message:
"No drives attached to FastTrak Controller. Bios Not installed."
Is this correct ? Should I be getting this message ?
I would like to disable the onboard Promise Controller since it is taking up resources and it slows down the boot speed (although only slightly). The MSI website says that the onboard RAID controller can't be disabled. I think this is poor design. Does anyone know if this is going to be addressed in future BIOS releases ?
    3. Which of the USB ports are USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. I thought it was rather strange that only 2 of the 4 ports on the header actually active.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Rupesh

First off your temp is ok on that board. If you have not loaded the onboard raid driver do so and it is something you have to suffer with on the MSI board. All of your USB ports should run at USB 2.0 and you also should be able enable all of them in the bios.

  • K7N2 Delta MS6570 and JUSB2 header.

I have a K7N2 Delta MS6570 Mobo and when I first obtained it I installed it into an Antec Sonata case. This has, among others, two USB sockets on the front. These can be connected by two sets of four separate connectors. I tried using these but found that, although the USB connectors on the front  were recognized, a message followed stating there was a problem. I then decided to connect the supplied D-bracket and these worked with no problems. ( not bothered with Bluetooth) I then made further attempts to use the front connections but in spite of checking everything... no go. So I gave up as at that time I had no real use for front connections. Lately I find it would be more convienient to be able to use the front USB connections and have made further attempts but with no success.
I have noted that the manual on page 2-22 the JUSB2 header shows that pin 10 is for USBOC, which I believe is an over current pin but with negative logic.. ..???? When I use the front connections this pin is not connected and as far as I can see this is the only difference between front and D bracket.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions to overcome me problem. Many thanks.

I think I have now tried everything and this is the present position.
Using the front USB sockets fed from JUSB2 some USB devices will work OK, therefore assume connections are correct. However when I try the use a USB flash drive  I get message "USB device not recognised". I have tried two devices with same results. If now change over to feeding the D-bracket from JUSB2 both USB flash drives work OK from there. They also work OK on another computer.
Why oh why is there a problem using the front US sockets with some USB devices?

  • Keithley 2400 voltage Issue

Hello, I am using Labview 2010 to try to control a Keithley 2400 Sourcemeter by GPIB.  I am using the labview drivers from the Keithley 24XX drivers package which I downloaded from the "Find Instrument Drivers" in Labview.
I am trying to use the device as a current source to power an electromagnet.  I have the device set up and it will output current, but no matter how high I adjust the compliance value, the voltage output of the sourcemeter will not exceed 2 volts.
I'm pretty sure this is not a device limitation because when I adjust the compliance and current manually the device has no trouble.  For some reason when I control the device with labview it just won't go over 2 volts. Any help would be great.
I have included my program here.  If anyone needs screenshots to diagnose this issue, let me know.
    Solved!

Yep, the "Compl" light is blinking, so it is the range compliance.  The range compliance is set at 2.1V.  I added the "Configure Measurement" vi and set the vi to Auto, but this didn't change the range compliance.
Also, I set the Auto to false and tried adjusting the "Manual Range."  When I get above 2.1 V, I get a message that says :
    Instrument reports:
    824,"Cannot exceed compliance range"
I have included the latest VI here
Is there a VI that changes the compliance range, or a VI that sets it to auto?

  • RAID1 issues on K7N2 Delta2-LSR

I originally started down the road of trying to setup a RAID0 with two new WD Raptors and discovered one was bad - WinXP Pro install fails on SATA RAID K7N2 Delta2-LSR
So I continued on with installing WinXP on the remaining Raptor and figured I could setup a RAID1 array when the replacement Raptor arrived.  Today, I popped in the replacement Raptor on the SATA2 controller, booted into WinXP, and confirmed the new drive was recognized.  I could see the new drive in Disk Management and all looked good.
I rebooted into bios, enabled the RAID Config on SATA Primary and SATA Secondary, saved and exited.  Upon reboot, I was able to go into the nVidia RAID setup (F10).
The NVIDIA RAID UTILITY - Array List showed one Mirror 74G array with a Status of Degraded.  I hit [Enter] Detail and [A] Add to add the new hard drive to the array.  Then I selected [R] Rebuild which didn't seem to do anything (no HD activity), but the Array List reported the array Status as Healthy.  I never went through the process of defining a new array where drives are added from the left to the right side of the Define New Array screen since the Array List initially showed one Mirror 74G array, which is what I wanted.
I exited [Ctrl-X] Exit and the array failed to boot.  The NVIDIA BIOS section "Detecting array..." failed to detect the array.  Rebooting confirmed the same.
To make matters worse, I couldn't get into Bios (Delete) or the NVIDIA Setup (F10).  I had to unplug the second Raptor to get into the Bios, upon which I disabled the RAID Config.  My original Raptor remains intact with WinXP.
I would have figured that a mirrored array could be created on the fly from a master hard drive - is this not the case?
How do I go about fixing this problem since now I cannot connect the second Raptor and get into Bios/NVIDIA Setup?  Does the BIOS need to be reset?
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I initially thought a change in direction of the topic belonged in a new thread, but I see the value in keeping it all together.  I'll keep everything from this point out in the 3rd thread.
1st thread - WinXP Pro install fails on SATA RAID K7N2 Delta2-LSR - due to bad HD
    2nd thread - RAID1 issues on K7N2 Delta2-LSR - this thread

  • [nForce] Issue re-building K7N2 system

I've recently upgraded my computer to an athlon64, and using my spare parts attempted to upgrade my GF's computer.  I'm pretty tech savvy, so this *should have* been a walk in the park.
In her PC, i have replaced the following components with the exact components that my PC was running previously:
    - PSU  (300w generic)
    - Motherboard  (K7N2 v1.0)
    - CPU  (AthlonXP 2600+, 333 fsb)
    - RAM  (2x Atlas 512mb PC3200)
    - Video card  (generic Geforce Ti4200)
when i had these installed in my PC, they worked fine, and got along together.  The only components that were not previously set up with my system are her 2 optical drives (cdrw/dvd-rom) and her hard drive.  These components are known to be good, as they were functioning properly with her old motherboard.
I have considered the possibility that the PSU couldn't handle her configuration, however my system previously had far more components installed (3x HD, dvd-rw, cd-rw)
now... I believe that covers all of the info people could ask for...
    My issue:
After setting everything up, when i depress the power button, the CPU fan turns just slightly, and nothing happens.  After this happens, the power button is totally unresponsive until i use the hard power switch on the back of the PSU to turn it off and back on.
I'm really hoping that i didn't end up hosing the board while doing the upgrade, but after looking through a few different troubleshooting guides (including the msi one from the website), i'm running low on things to try.
any advice would be much appreciated ^^
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

well, i'll be gettin off work in just a little bit, so i can go home and mess with this some more.  I've thought of a few other things to try (as well as got a few other things to try from this thread)
here's what i've tried so far:
    - replaced her old PSU with my old one  (this was a no-brainer, her PSU was only 250w)
    - reset cmos with jumper  (gunna try battery first thing when i get home)
    - reseated CPU
    - reseated ram
    - reseated Video card
    - tried 1 stick of ram in slot 1 then slot 3, followed by the same thing with my other stick of ram.
    - double & triple checked PSU wiring
...there's more... but it's hard to remember every little thing
here's what is on my list for tonight:
    - clear CMOS by removing battery
    - swap USB KB for PS2
    - remove motherboard to check for shorts  (i'm 99.9% certain i didn't leave extra standoffs, but that .1% can definantly suck sometimes)
    - attempt to boot with MB outside of case
    - test using the PSU from my A64
Hopefully something in that list solves the issue, it's been bugging me since last night >.<
Thanks for the advice, I'll letcha know how i fare ^^

  • K7N2 Delta2 Problems (2 issues)

    First problem:
Recent changed bios settings in Cell working on solving a problem (see #2), lowered FSB to 100 and then increased CPU. (dont remember but I think X12 or X13)
System fails to POST, D-Bracket all red.
Clear bios (pull power cord, press power on, set jumper to 2-3, wait, return jumper, plug in power power up)
    Still All red.
Remember issue with FSB, cell bios, read the board, find the INS trick
Pull power cord, Press power on, Plug in PS2 keyboard, remove USB keyboard,  (also reset Bios again), plug in power, hold down INS, press power on....
    D-Bracket still all red.
Can someone clue me in, am I doing something wrong?
Second issue (or why I ended up playing with Cell settings)
I have had repeated stablity issues, windows BSOD. Eventually when for System restores from ghost and then even Tryed a system reinstall. I might get BSOD at any point of installs, Pulled Optical drives out, pull all but one stick of crucial Ram (see sig), finally got a good install, but setting BIOS to Fail Safe Defaults.
    W2k fully installed
Restore Bios Settings, install all the drivers.(and I made a ghost).
    Seems good.
    Then crashing starts up again.
I notice some of the errors are PFN (page fault!)
I realize that the fail safe, included setting BIOS (and CPU by extension to low levels)
Now I set Bios/cell to FSB 100 and CPU default (making my AMD 1600+ normally 1400Mhz a 1050Mhz)
    System is stable.
The FBS 133/CPU 1400 is stable for a while if has been off for a long time. but then Becomes unstable.
Final data: CPU is cooled at or below system temp. System hits 90F, but CPU is 88F.
So what is my problem, Bad CPU? Bad Temp sensor?
    Suggestions?

Quote from: Richard on 24-April-06, 04:52:03
    gratis,
I would say it is time for a new Semperon Core Socket A CPU. The will run circles around your old Palomino and only cost $65.00 for a 2400+ and $85.00 for a 2800+.
Great performance boost for little cash.
I found a computer (known working with no issues) that I could borrow its AMD XP 1800+ processor out of. I installed it and.. Still didn't work. The system crashed at FBS 133.
To which I desided I am done trying to get the system to work. I need a functional computer.
(this is also partly because the stability at FSB 100, was in fact, partly stable. I would eventually get BSOD, it just took a lot longer.)
So I drove to Microcenter, and bought a cheap (both in price and quality) ECS board, CPU Sempron 2600+, and CPU fan. One box preasembled. Slaped that into my system (with all the prior parts Ram, vid, HDDs, etc..) and it worked fine...
Anyone have any advice on my odds of being able to RMA this motherboard...?
(edit: I know when I bought the board, Aug 05, newegg has it in my order history)

  • K7N2 Delta & keyboard issues?

Just put together a nice new system, I love the nforce2 board but i'm having issues with my keyboard. Its a logitech elete duo wireless but the same thing happens with standard ps/2 keyboards. In several of my games, I am unable to bind the arrow keys. Also, functions prebound to the arrow keys misfunction. i.e. when I try to walk in CS/halflife/Urban Terror it also triggers primary fire. Other games like standard Quake 3 and Vice city work fine...so I'm out of ideas. I have the newest chipset, video, and keyboard drivers.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Have you updated your BIOS to the most current version?
I tried my Logitech wireless on my ASUS board and my K7N2G-ILSR and it wouldn't work properly on either one...it's something with the nf2 chipset I'm thinking but I haven't researched it in depth because I have 4 systems and parts to build more so I use a Logitech MX700 mouse and my original MS Natural Black Keyboard PS/2...winning combo and why fix something that isn't broke?
