K7N2 Nforce 2ppp LAN problems

Hi, I'm having problems with the lan on board.
The Lan connection with another computer works just fine.
But if I hook it up for internet ADSL connection on it's own, I cannot ping to the modem. When installing a PCI network adapter, it does work.
Anyone with the same problem?

  • K7N2-D-ILSR & LAN problem: resolved!!!

I have just resolved my problem with my K7N2-Delta-ILSR and onboard LAN conflict, that was not able to connect to Internet! My "ALCATEL Speed Touch Pro" ADSL modem (model number 3EC18904CGAA01) was changed by another ADSL modem brand, "Parks Prestige 600 Series".
i hope it could help some MSI clients

    Hi,
It wasn't so much conflicts (although I did mention this) I was interested in, but the hardware items that are sharing IRQ's. This is why I asked how many IRQ's you have - In a correctly installed XP you should have 23 IRQ's (0-22)!
Also make sure "PNP OS" is set to disabled in BIOS!
To find a list of IRQ's that you can cut and paste:
Go to Start>Run> Then Type: "msinfo32" (without quotes).  The "System Information" window should now be open. Click on + "Hardware Resources" in left pane - then on IRQ's in the list that appears below it. You should now see a list of all IRQ's in the left panel! Which can be cut and pasted if you wish.
As an example here's a list of mine:
    IRQ 0   System timer
IRQ 1   Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
    IRQ 3   Communications Port (COM2)
    IRQ 4   Communications Port (COM1)
IRQ 6   Standard floppy disk controller
IRQ 8   System CMOS/real time clock
    IRQ 9   Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
IRQ 10   MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
IRQ 11   NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management
    IRQ 12   PS/2 Compatible Mouse
    IRQ 13   Numeric data processor
    IRQ 14   Primary IDE Channel
    IRQ 15   Secondary IDE Channel
    IRQ 16   RADEON 8500 SERIES
    IRQ 18   Creative SB Audigy
    IRQ 19   VideoMate TV Capture
IRQ 20   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
IRQ 21   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
IRQ 22   NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Yours should be a reasonable facsimile of this one! Notice how the "Network Controller" is not sharing an IRQ
It is a long shot but it was worth a look!

  • Lan problems on P55-GD80

    Hi,
I'm on my second one of these motherboards and they both exhibit the same fault with the same workaround. On boot the primary LAN devices are not visible in the device manager under Vista, sometimes both LAN devices can vanish. I can get them back by shutting down and clearing the CMOS using the button on the board. I thought it was a Vista issue but if I boot a standalone backup environment, Linux based I think, that can't see the LAN devices either. I think the effect seems to be triggered by running any non windows environment, Acronis or Paragon backup seems to sometimes trigger it. However I have seen the devices just disappear when windows was running.
I did find an entry on a German website, from what I could understand there was a similar issue with a similar board and a BIOS upgrade fixed it.
I have logged a case with MSI, I'll let you know how I get on.

    Found the link:-

  • Lan Problem

I'm having a lan problem, which I already made a post on this forum
    SEE THIS LINK
Well, it's back!  I get disconnected from the Internet without any reason (my sister has no problem).  When I go to Network Connections in Control Panel to disable enable the lan, the lan doesn't enable.  When I try to roll-back driver, update driver, or uninstall in Device Manager, Device Manager only freezes.
Does anyone have any suggestion aside from RMAing the board because I live in Hawaii and shipping to RMA it would cost about $40 bucks!
I tried installing a pci lan before, but it was an old one so it was very slow, but no issues.
EDIT: I also tried double-clicking on the lan icon on my taskbar but the window that is supposed to appear only appears in a fraction of a second and then disappears.

last week i did a fresh reload of my OS for cleaning purposes, and i had same prob.. internet worked off and on, then froze.. other things froze it too like device manager.. this didnt happen with my last copy of windows, so i was sitting there like  .. anyways... installed all driver updates, SP1 and all, nothing happened... i got fed up with it and just said screw it , and i reloaded again... now everything works fine... my friend and i were thinking it might have just been a corrupt install, or a corrupt install of some of my drivers/updates from windows... b4 you RMA board, try a fresh copy of XP (with just new drivers and SP1) and see if you have the same problem

  • K7D Master-L with LAN problems

I've just completed construction of my new K7D Master-L based machine and am running into LAN problems.  The first K7D Master-L I received had a bad IDE controller on it, and now the replacement board has intermittent LAN issues.
WinXP Pro installed fine, and I was able to install the LAN driver from the MSI CD and get things up and running fine.  After about 20 minutes or so, the LAN connection drops out and then comes back a few minutes later.  This cycle repeats over and over.  There are no duplicate IP addresses on the network, there are no errors in the XP system log, and all of the other systems on the network continue to work fine during these down periods.
I checked on the MSI website, and there are no drivers available for the Intel 82551QM lan controller that is on the K7D Master-L board.  Does anyone know where I can get an updated driver to try?  These types of problems are most frustrating to debug.
    Thanks,
    Norm

    Just an update to this:
The problem is definately the onboard LAN controller.  I've tried a Netgear card as well as a real PCI based Intel Pro 100 card and both are working great.  When I take the PCI cards out and try to use the onboard LAN, I still get intermittent outages.
Very strange.  If any MSI engineers are listening, I'd love to hear your opinions.  According to the OS, there are no IRQ, memory, or other conflicts that might be to blame.

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta@ LSR stability problem

Okay gang...here's the scoop. Recently purchased the K7N2 Delta2 LSR and equipped it with an AMD XP-2600 (locked), 2X512 Rosewill Dual-Channel sticks, plus Samsung 80gb HDD and ATI Radeon 9000pro AGP. Built the system with no hassle and clean installed Win XP Home. Just wanted to get the system up, so left BIOS setting where they were for a couple of days. Noticed that the processor was not being recognized, so checked the BIOS and realized FSB was set to 133 (processor at ~1500mhz). I changed the FSB to 166 with multiplier of 11.5 (which, I believe is correct for my 2600 Barton). Voltage is at 1.65v. Memory is at DIMM slots 1 & 3 (dual channel) and memory voltage is at 2.7v. (Timings at 2.5,3,3,7) After I made these changes to the BIOS and rebooted, Win XP ran checkdisk, and reported no errors. The problem now, is that graphics-intensive stuff (i.e., games) cause system to freeze after about five seconds. When the processor was underclocked, I didn't have this problem. I'm not interested in over-clocking... just want it to be stable at stock speeds. Other applications (Word, Excel, IE, Outlook Express) run fine. My ATI Radeon 9000pro is a 4X AGP card (I have 8X disabled in BIOS), and the voltage is at 1.5v. I don't think this is a PSU problem (400w), and only noticed the problems since changing the FSB to where it was supposed to have been all along. Am I missing something obvious?

Board runs best with fsb:dram at 1:1  Not sure what speed memory you have but needs to run at same speed as fsb, ie 166 Mhz =333 ddr.
I found bios b3 to work best for me.  Give that a go.
Give make/model of psu with max amps to +3.3v, +5v and +12v.  See my signature for example.
I found that with other bios I need high performance setting in cell menu at optimised, so check that.
Search on this forum for my username and keyword 'bios' for lots of other posts.
    Good luck

  • K7N2 Delta2 Platinium: Gigabyte Lan problem

I finally got new mainboard and got it working like 1½ hours ago. I started to see that the lan, witch Gigabit MCP Chipset's: 10/100/1000 lan killed my internet connection less than an hour. Messenger went offline, mailservers and other servers totally unreachble. Some activity did happened according my firewall ( Sygate Personal Firewall ) but I couldn't connect anywhere. So I rebooted and it all worked fine, until less than hour went by and it did it again, so, I changed my old ethernet adapter that is working fine now...
But what the heck? How come my Lan just wouldn't work? Is it system? Known bug? Anything would be appreciated...

Does he have the same memory config.? Try uising only one, or two if they are bought in a pair. I think it is the slots 1 and 3 you use for the dual channel.
What slot do you use for the ethernet and sound cards? Slot 5/6 and slot 3 resp. would be the best, I think. Have a go without the sound card altogether, if you want to.
I like your system, esp. the outside of it. That is a very good case for the money!    You know you can let the mobo adjust fan speed according to temps.? Dampening is almost unnecessary if you use that control. I use a Spire processor fan adapted to an Adda 120 mm fan. Have no intake fan. - I can hear the birds walking around in the garden outside. And, what's more, I hear the worms they are looking for.

  • K8NGM-V, Onboard-LAN problems

Hi, I'm having some serious problems with the onboard LAN card on my K8NGM-V board. I've been trying alot and I cant get it to work properly. I installed the latest drivers from nvidia (nForce 8.26) and the card is detected and installed as "nvidia nForce networking controller", after a reboot it is assigned an IP from my DHCP router, so far so good. But when I try to access the internet (or my router which I'm directly connected to) it's not working as it should. I'm only getting like 25% successrate when I'm pinging an hompage or a LAN device. It's going REALLY slow to connect to webpages, most of the time the connection times out.
Right now I'm using a PCI network card, which works great. So the problem have to be with the onboard lan.
If anyone have the slightest clue to what could be wrong, please post!

Some nVidea lans seem to have some problems. I'm not sure wether the follwoing will be a solution for your adapter, but trying won't hurt you.
Goto Device manager and look for the adapter. Select Properties -> Advanced and look for Offload Checksum. Set it to Disabled, restart and try your connection. If it doesn't do anything, simply set it to what it was.
Edit: also, check for adware/spyware/virusses and check your firewall settings. Do you have a sperate modem? If so, what happens when you skip the router and connect directly to the modem?

  • K7N2 Delta2 LSP Reboot problem

    Guys, need your help.
    Yesterday, I have just fixed up a MSI K7N2 Delta2 LSR with a 3000+ FSB400 (Barton). Memory is Geil 400DDR 2.5 (2 x 512mb) configured as dual channel on Slot2 and Slot3. Hardisk is a Maxtor SATA 300g DM10. Power supply is a 470w Verudium with 30A on the 3.3V, 40A on the 5V, 21A on the 12V railing. DVD writer is a NEC 3200A and a generic MX400 64mb AGP graphics card.
On the initial startup, the system runs as it should, with no problem whatsoever. However if you restart, then the system hangs at identifying the hard disk just after the memory check. If you then power off and turn on, the Maxtor will then be recognised and Windows XP will load with no problems.
Things that I have tried include changing the memory, changing to the 2nd SATA port, taking out all FDD and DVD ide connection to the mb, but to no avail. Please note that overclocking was not done at all.
    Hoping for some advice. Thks!

Thanks to Dancer and Labtech1 for your replies. Send the board down to my local representatives to try and apparently they came to the conclusion that the mb bios could not detect the 300g Maxtor upon restart and that it was a bios problem.
Read the post pointed out by Labtect1 and interesting enough the problem parallels that of mine. What I could not understand is how loading the NForce drivers helped in the bios harddisk detection stage!
Anyway, the service center has already forwarded my problem to MSI HQ and hopefully they will have a solution for me soon.

  • Weird K7N2 Delta (or sth) problem...

Hi all, I'll be quick because I need an answer to my problem as soon as I can...
Today I switched my old Albatron KM18G-Pro with an MSI K7N2 Delta-L, because I had problems with a heatsink on Albatron's Micro ATX mobo...
Ever since I did that, 3dmark01 score has gone at about 1000 (from 13200 to 12100) down, using the exact same drivers for VGA (Triplex Millenium Silver Ti4800SEV 128MB) mobo (nForce drivers v2.03 or 2.45 doesn't matter...). I can see that all tests from approximatelly Nature test and beyond are running choppy. I'm seeing choppy gameplay on screen but the fps on Nature seem correct. My refresh rate is set at the same rate as it was before (75Hz on my Eizo LCD 15" monitor). Fill rate runs too much choppily though the score must be correct. Tried switching to 4x mode but nothing happened. I'm really frustrated here guys so please help me...
ps. sorry for my bad english but I was in a hurry...

hi and welcome to this forum.
the score is not interesting and dont really say much.
whats interesting is how it works in games.
    tried any games?
    new install of xp?
    irq conflicts ?
    bye

  • NForce driver install problem

I downloaded the nForce XP 2.45 drivers. When I double click on setup, the nVidia logo pops up with the progress bar reading "NVIDIA nForce Drivers Setup is preparing the InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please wait." When the blue bar goes to the right and finishes, it just stops. The nVidia logo and the progress bar disappear and nothing else happens. No install, nothing. Any insight as to how this can be fixed will be greatly appreciated. Here are the specs of my computer:
    AMD Athlon XP 1700+
    MSI K7N2 Motherboard
    Envision 910e 19" Color Monitor
    Windows XP Professional Edition
    128 MB DDR GeForce4 Ti4200 Video Card
    1024 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
40 GB 7200 RPM Western Digital HD
    Lite-On 16X DVD ROM
    Lite-On 24X10X40X CD-RW Drive
    VIA AC'97 Audio Card
    Teac 1.44MB Floppy Drive
    NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter
Toshiba Cable Modem with AT&T Broadband Internet

Thanks for your responses. You brought some things to my attention that I forgot to include in my original post. 1) This is not a new build. I just want to update my drivers 2) I am reluctant to delete my old drivers for fear that I might not be able to reinstall them. And now, the driver CD that came with the motherboard is experiencing the same problem. 3) Restarting the computer did not help. I don't think the file is corrupt since now I am experiencing the same problem with the CD. Are there any programs/services/etc. that could cause this problem if disabled? And the Detonator drivers install fine. I'm really stumped.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Memory problems

I'm trying to burn in a system in a 50 deg C (122 deg F) room for a minimum of 12 hours.  The main system components are as follows:
    Motherboard:  MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
    Memory: 2x512 OCZ PC3200 EL
My problem is that the burn-in software continues to freeze up during the memory test.  I've already contacted the software manufacturers and the software is stable.  It's a problem with the way the motherboard handles the memory.  I've tried putting the memory in dual channel configuration and changing the timing settings in the BIOS.  The SPD settings are 2.5-3-3-7.  Right now I have them at 3-4-3-8.  It's a lot more stable than it was under the default settings but it still freezes up sometime after 7 hours.  Unfortunately, I wasn't around when it froze so I don't know exactly how long it lasted.  I can say that after 7 hours, it wasn't showing any slowdown in performance.  If anyone could think of anything else I might be able to do to get the system stable, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The CPU FSB is 200, so it's already matched up there.  And we have a ton of fans already.  There are two in the front, 4 inside and 1 on the back.  It's a custom case, 2u high.  The power supply is oversized and more than adequate to provide the required power.  I have four of these units running right now.  Two with 2x512 sticks and two with 1x1024 sticks.  For each combination, the memory clock speed for one is 166 and 200 for the other.  I have been loosening up the memory timings trying to get the system stable, but it still isn't.  If the power supply is good, and I'm unable to cool the system anymore due to limititions within the case, is there anything you can think of to stabilize the system.  Maybe other settings in the BIOS or suggestions on how to go about getting good timings for the memory.  Thanks.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR MB Problems, Need Help ASAP!! PLEASE

Ok  I just got this motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta) Yesterday and after getting it setup I began overclocking the Processor (an AMD Athlon XP Barton Mobile 2500+) I was at 11x 215 1.750V Perfectly. I moved to 216 it started to seem unstable so I pushed the VCORE up to 1.775 and tried 217. It couldn't boot so I dropped it back down and decided ok 208 and a 11.5 multi might get me past the 2.4 mark which I was looking for. Well when I changed the Multi. to 11.5 and said save the system just sate as the flashing y for save. I could not change it to n I had already pushed enter So i firgured great and left it alone for a few minutes, nothing so I reset it. Now it refuses to boot/post. It spinds the fans the HD's the Network port is going but I get no picture. I have cleared the CMOS using the jumper I have removed the battery and power for over an hour and I still get nothing. I am assuming this is a BIOS error but I am not sure what to do to fix it. Does anyone here kno maybe, something I have yet to try something I can do? I would hate to RMA it and have to wait on newegg. Hell the thing is a day old. So please any idea's are welcome I have this posted on the Hard Forums as well but I am hopinh this forum may be more popular with getting help as no one is helping over there. Thanks!

    Hi,
Cross: Just in case you are doing something wrong there's a clear CMOS guide here, follow it to the letter (and don't forget to put the FSB jumper to SAFE beforehand - there's a note about it in the guide).
    How To Clear the CMOS
Your system board or CPU maybe not be dead yet - I had a similar problem with one of my boards and I tried everything - to cut a long story short I eventually got it working!!!
Btw, If you can't boot or get into the BIOS put your other CPU in (clear BIOS again after fitting!), so that you can prove whether your motherboard is working correctly!
Good luck!   I'm off ta bed!

  • 790FX-GD70 LAN Problems

    Hello all;
I recently purchased a bunch of components on NCIX, and assembled the computer together, and everything is working extremely well - minus the LAN connections. I've never seen the LEDs light up, and all I'm ever getting in the windows properties is a network cable unplugged message in the adapter settings. I HAVE read the other postings on this board and don't think I have been helped.
    I am running Windows 7 (64bit)
    790FX-GD70 w/ Phenom II 955 (3.2GHz)
2x4GB Mushkin Stiletto 16000 (1333) DDR3 Ram (Upper end but not overclocked)
2x1GB Asus EAH5450 Silent Video Cards in Software Crossfire (Works great and have had no issues)
    ModXStream 700w PS
Antec 900 Case (with all fans so it has adequate cooling)
I also have set up two RAID 0s (may have been overkill) But I have two SataII 250GB hard drives for the OS drive (allows me to upgrade to a SSD in future) and 2 2TB Green Drives for Data, Movies, Music, etc.
ANYWAY, everything was installed and working perfectly, but have got no response from the LAN, so a wireless stick was installed on the front bus.
I've only ever used the drivers from the site, but MAY have originally installed the disc drivers for the MOBO.
I have tried turning off the LAN in BIOS, uninstalling and reinstalling and returning on the LAN (along with doing the above with and without the cable installed) in every order and with every driver I could find. (The one on the site didn't work- so I tried MSI's Liveupdate and it found a different one - tried installing and running THAT one with the above - nothing). I've received no response from the LAN and even less from the MSI help/email system.
I've tried everything I can think of except:
    a) I will try the above mentioned in SafeMode
    b) I searched for these elusive REALTEK drivers that saved someone else, but I don't appear to be able to access them and viewing just the information I'd need to sign up for
    c) I may try stripping all drivers off and retrying with the LAN off (in bios) since it was ON during windows install, but I've uninstalled every lan driver and deleted the device only to reinstall with the (newest MSI) drivers before turning it on SOO many times it makes my head hurt.
OH, also the cable is CAT6 (50ft) and worked screamingly well for the last computer I had hooked up here, so there should be zero issues with firewalls or router/modem configurations (though I've looked)
I've included everything I can think of, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to move a few TB of data off a main computer to mine, and it's taking a lifetime through the wireless. Thanks for any help/comments you can offer.

    ---------------------
Alright - Thanks to all readers so far - I've been trying to diagnose this problem for some time and put in a lot of time yesterday to no positive result.
Because I was on a computer all day, I was able to do updates with what I was thinking, and different things as they came up - but they weren't always legible/comprehensible so I will try to explain everything better and condensed for any new readers.
    New Computer Parts:
    790FX-GD70 w/ Phenom II 955 (3.2GHz)
2x4GB Mushkin Stiletto 16000 (1333) DDR3 Ram (Upper end but not overclocked)
2x1GB Asus EAH5450 Silent Video Cards in Software Crossfire (Works great and have had no issues)
    ModXStream 700w PSU
Antec 900 Case (with all fans so it has adequate cooling - Temp always <45C)
    Windows 7 (64bit)
    Original Installation:
Had no issues, but installed off the supplied CDs, then updated to the MSI mobo drivers.
I had the smaller drives running on Raid Array 1 (boot) so I can in future upgrade to a SSD and the two Larger drives as Raid Array 2 for a nice and large music/games/iso/Video drive
I originally tried screwing with it a bit, some reinstalls, then got fed up thinking the MSI email thing will solve it and started installing games, norton and the like. This lead to comment about additional uninstalls disabling norton, windows and anything I could find - This was not ORIGINALLY an issue, but came to be in later installations (Sorry for the confusion).
This computer originally had dual screens, but has now been upgraded to a Plasma Widescreen (it was my plan to have this as a media/gaming computer)
Through all driver installations, I've found the LAN LEDs light up in Startup, Windows goes to its loading screen, then to a blank screen (juuust before windows finishes loading) and then to windows - On the blank screen the LEDs turn off and stay off for the remainder of the PC being on. This is ALSO the case at the router. Light is on until windows hits and remains off.
Therefore I tried every possible combination of uninstalling the router driver, turning the LAN off in BIOS, installing with and without the LAN plugged in, enabling in BIOS, and then booting windows (with and without the LAN plugged in).
Prior to this build, there was a computer in the same case, on a much, much older board that utilized the cable and everything went extremely smoothly (Win7 64 bit).
Nothing has been OCd, and there are no strange settings that I can see on the BIOS (though I will post my BIOS settings shortly).
Other installation options have been using the installation wizard in and out of safemode, using the "silent install" in and out of safe mode, and once agaion all installation have been done with and without disabling the LAN in the BIOS and reenabling it after.
What shows up is under the Network Adapters is:
    "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller"
"Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2"
(This board has 2 Gigabit Ports and yes I've always been trying both)
Both say they're working correctly, installed with the most recent drivers, and despite my error in one post, say 7.41.216.2011 (a 2/16/2011 update-most recent)
It also says (on both) that a cable is just missing, but it has been recently used on a different system and I can see the lights on the PC and router.
In the mobo manual the LEDS can be explained as such:
    L-Yellow-Off         -LAN not established
                -On S.S   -LAN link established
-On pulse -Communicating with another computer on the LAN
    R-Green-Off         -10Mbit/s
                -On         -100Mbit/s
      -Orange-On-      -1000Mbit/s
So I am getting a pulsing Yellow and an Orange (on) meaning a thinking Gigabit connection, good. -> Until Windows Loads
Now, during windows installation ( I believe this is typical) it doesn't pick up the BIOS-configured RAID array as a drive until you install the driver (in the windows setup). So I had to do that on every installation, until it picks up the drive, and installation resumes. I do not know if the same conflict exists with Ubuntu, but it sure appears that that is the case as it will not pick up the hard drives. After booting linux, the PC will not re recognize the harddrives until a COLD boot is performed (not recognizing the drives on reset had me a little freaked out for a bit).
Back to linux, I tried my version of 10.10, the admin's version, and an above listed ~8.2 Golden Heron??? Version of Ubuntu. When BOTH the v10s were loaded, it appeared to be loading just fine, with the Ubuntu logo and progress bar/balls, then the black screen, and then it wouldn't come back. The start up sound would activate, but I could not receive any visual. I originally thought this MAY have had something to do with the fact that I'm using a Plasma TV through the HDMI connection, but if the load up screen showed up, I can't understand why it would flake out.
Anyway, to cover all bases, I then tried the v8 cd, and it booted (with a fair share of ugly flickering pre load). No hard drives, but it DID allow me to check out the Connections - and it picked out the same thing, same name, same location, cable missing and couldn't get it to work.
Now at this point a question was asked about my PSU as drives were "falling out" so I supplied specs:
    OCZ ModXStream-Pro 700W
I thought that should have been more than ample for this set up, but I will check the Specs...

So I shouldn't have an issue with 4 drives, 1 DVD, and 2 sticks of ram.
At this point, I was getting tired and frustrated and tried some more Safe mode possibilities and Reinstalls, and in my frustration/orvertiredness I pulled off all ATI drivers that I thought MAY be conflicting (to install LAN FIRST) such as a RAID controller (stupid) and the Crossfire drivers (thought maybe PCI bus was overloaded or in conflict if the LAN is on the same bus? - I was overtired) Anyway, thinking I could get back into windows safe mode was a little optimistic and I had to settle for Windows repair (oh joy) and I COULDNT get the raid drivers to be recognized again - Found out later that the USB drive I was using to move drivers with had some issues with corruption..ANYWAY in the windows repair/select driver window I plugged in a 500G external and did the ol' Ctrl C Ctrl P and copied everything I needed on the raid array and blanked it to reinstall windows.
Now silly sleep deprived me couldnt get the main ATI driver to load (corrupt files and didn't realize at the time) and the ATI mobo driver didn't install, so I used the CD, but then I was just replicating the above test,as I installed the LAN drivers post ATI Mobo drivers (still don't know why I did that). Redownloaded newest drivers onto the external, and went to bed.
Anyway, on to today, reblanked the drive, installed windows WITH LAN OFF in BIOS, installed Windows again, installed LAN and reenabled in BIOS to the same results. Did a repair installation, with it enabled and plugged in, same results.
Post ANY installation, as soon as the LAN is enabled (if it isn't already) a message pops in the bottom right saying Drivers were installed correctly.
If it is installed with LAN off, a message pops up saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."
But once, the LAN is enabled, on Windows boot it once again says it was installed correctly, but doesn't have a cable.
Right now I'm sitting with a computer with a fresh Win 7-64 install and LAN drivers, and I will try installing the mobo drivers and reinstalling the LAN again (if nothing works) but I'm fresh out of ideas. I'll see what I can hammer out in Linux too, but it appears so far that we're getting the same results (connected but no cable).
Anyway thanks for reading my novel, and once again, any help would be appreciated.

  • Belkin wireless modem and Airport Express lan problems

Let me preface my problem by stating the obvious - I'm not very technically proficient!
That said, I've had an AirPort Express wireless lan connecting three computers on my home/office network for the past 8 months without any problems at all. All machines on the network have been able to access the internet via a Thomson SpeedTouch 530 ADSL1 modem that connects via an ethernet cable to the AirPort Express. No problems.
The network consists of my G5 iMac (ALS), my husband's Mac mini and my Sony VAIO laptop (XP Pro SP2).
I should also mention that half-way between my office and my husband's office there is a second AirPort Express that 'boosts' the signal to his office.
I recently changed ISPs to a provider that offers the faster ADSL2+ service. This meant that I had to get a new Belkin ADSL2+ modem. This is my problem. I cannot connect my AirPort Express network to the internet using the Belkin modem. The Belkin modem connects without any problem if I just have it connected via ethernet to my iMac but that's not what I want to do.
My existing AirPort details are -
    IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.3
Router 10.0.1.1 (this is the SpeedTouch 530 modem)
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
I thought I could change the new modem's address(?terminology?) from 10.1.1.1 (which is how it came) to 10.0.1.3 and that everything would work but it doesn't.
Belkin tech support said 'the problem is with your AirPort Express' (what else would they say)?
Do I have to keep the 10.1.1.1 and change my AirPort addresses? Or should I try to set up a new network?

    No ideas?
