I am building 2 identical systems and one works fine the other shows the following message when it is turned on:

Main Processor : AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+
Then down at the botton is says to hit Del to enter setup. I am unable to enter setup as it just stays on that screen. I have taken out the HD, RAM and DVD drive from the working system and tried them in the non working system and it doesn't help. I have cleared the CMOS as per instructions on this forum. Like I said before the systems are identical (only exception is the HD).

And there are no error messages reported on screen? Strange one. You could try clearing CMOS again but this time unplug from power (mains) socket and press power button once to "purge" the system, Also make sure FSB jumper is on SAFE before you reboot. This could possibly get you into the BIOS. My apologies if you've done all this already.
Also, make sure your heatsink is on the right way round. I've heard that it's possible to fit it incorrectly - and it's an easy mistake to make. I'm pretty sure this would be more likely to cause a shutdown - but you never know!

Issues with the K7N2D-L and USB

I have used the same config many times.
AMD 2500
MSI K7N2D-L
BIOS ver 6.00 PG
512DDR 400 (Generic)
Never a problem
I believe this mobo may have had problem since day one.
It will not use Kingston 333MHz RAM. Before BIOS update it would not install an O/S (WXP), all kinds of blue screen errors.
Still can not use the kingston RAM, but the generic stuff works fine.
Now, I have all kinds of USB problems, many different devices.
All proper drivers are loaded, still shows unknown devices in the device manager unedr USB (there is no exclamation! though). If you unplug a USB device Windows ALWAYS says "there is a problem with your USB device". I have never seen that on this board before.
Also, I get all the updates from the live update, BIOS, drivers, utilities, and install them, and it keeps finding the same drivers utilities and BIOS every time the update search is done.
ANy help appreciated greatly.

My TT V1000, and it was fine.
Funny thing is... Idid that before, I am sure, this time it worked.

K7n2d Ram or Psu?

Well I've read all of the trouble shooters 101 and ran around through buying the right psu and memory threads. But I'm not really sure if this isn't a mobo issue rather then one of the aboce.
I've got:
amd xp barton 2500+
Kingmax 512 mb ddr 333 KDL388P4LA-60 on chips
radeon 9600 pro
the power source is too weak for sytem and I've got one suitable otw just as I want to eliminate that problem.
Symptom: Will not even display during boot. bluetooth says "processor damaged or improperly installed error" 1&2 red 3&4 green.
I've reseated the processor with EXTREME care following a nice guide on arctic silvers site (was a real help I just used to blob it on and smear it around , has a big vantec on it.
1hd 1 cdrom 1 floppy, not much there really but my psu has these stats:
+3.3v ~ 24a
+5v ~ 35a
+12v ~ 12a
I guess my question is, does this, my psu, look to be like my problem or could it be my mobo or memory?

So,
I've replaced the psu on this with an antec 430 purepower and still recieving the same issues. Absolutely nothing gets written to video. D-Bracket lights 1&2 red, 3&4 green.
I'm at a point where I wish to replace my ram, or perhaps my mobo, but was curious if I could just remove all ram from mobo and get any further along in the boot process if its bad memory holding me up?
Not sure if this is very clear but if ya do understand what I'm trying to say and know if its possible to boot to bios without ram could ya let me know
No, I don't have any way to test ram on another ddr mobo, nor processor with a mobo the correct bus speed. I think its the mobo holding me up but I just hate to keep buying new stuff and swapping parts to fix this.

K7N2D and FX 5200

Hi,
I am using Windows XP Home with SP1 and the monitor keeps resetting, on and off, whenever I open My Computer or randomly at other points. I have tried the video card in another computer and it is fine. I am now using my Geforce 2 and it works fine.
I am using the latest drivers for the video card and the newest bios for the motherboard. Anyone have any ideas?

there is only an announcement about ATI cards. Does the old bios take care of them? Sorry, I don't mean to be a jerk, but I don't know what announcement you are referring to.

Memory for K7N2D ILSR

I am in need of some more ram to allow me to get this past 200FSB and am interested on what my best option would be? As stsed in my sig i'm using pc2700 which will only allow me up to 185FSB am i better going for PC3200 or PC3500. Thanks in advance for anyone who replys.

At the moment i'm at 210 X 11 @ 2319Mhz with mem timings of 11 3 3 2.5. Tried the timings sugested of 7 3 3 2.5 and it wouldn't post. Just about to run prime 95 but expecting it to fail as the mems now running at 410MHz and not 333.
next some water cooling though as temps are rising with the heat here. I'll have to try and see if i can up the multiplier tomorrow.

K7N2D-L Sound problem with Audio CDs

Hi there , i have the following problem. Whenever i want to play an audio CD , the firts track will play fine , with no audio problems BUT if i skip to the next track .. , the sound will suddendly play at slow speed , like slow motion sound . The thing is , after this happens , every windows or applications sounds will play as well in slow speed. The only way to solve it is to reboot my pc . This ONLY happens when i use an AUDIO CD , and only after the first track . Does anyone experienced anything like this ? . thx a lot.

Resetting the PRAM did not work for me. Last week, the optical drive was waiting a few seconds and then ejecting all media (CDs, DVDs, Installation disks...)
The guy at the local Apple store ran diagnostics and reset the DVD region. Although I have never had Mac OS ask what region I wanted to use, it is supposed to ask the first time you insert a DVD. If you switch regions (such inserting DVDs formatted for North America-1 and then Europe-2,) you will be asked for the Region each time you insert a different region. For once the region has been changed five times, it is locked in at the last region you selected and the user cannot change it again. There is some Pirateware that will allow you to change it but let the buyer beware.
At any rate, whatever the "Genius" did at the store made my optical drive accept anything but an audio CD.
Anyone have any ideas?

K7N2D-ILSR and Kreton BLITZ 3500 DDR Ram

I see many other people are having trouble with this Mobo. My problems are same as others on booting or exiting BIOS. I hve Tried AUTO MANUAL HIGH PERFORMANCE, and speeds of 100, 133, 166 in BIOS. No luck. I can get memory to work in slot 1 using MANUAL and 133, but when inserting in either slot 3 or 2,
system hangs.

Not for sure if its Nforce approved ram but sure its not look at the sticky post at the top of this forum for good memery choices and try that.

I change the fan and I put a new. After some weeks the new fan has the same problem,,, What must I do?????
and I had and another problem my cpu had burnt and I install a new?Is this a motherboard's problem???

buy a new fan.
try to get a titan vga cooler with dual ball bearing.
it got an expected lifespan of 50000 hours or 5.years.
i got one and it has been running 24/7 since last summer and its quiet and works good.

Using SATA Boot Drive & Promise UATA Card

I recently decided to put an extra 2, 200 gb hard drives into my system using a PCI ATA Controller Card. The only problem I have doing this is that my SATA Boot drives won't boot. The system Bios keeps trying to boot from the PCI Hard drives. Is there anything I can do to fix this or am I pretty much SOL and should just buy a K8T800? Specs are listed below.

your out of luck unless msi sort the bios out,which i dout will happen
its a shame as other older boards have multiple boot options,ie onboard raid or a card

I have a Msi k7n2d ilsr with athlon xp 2000+ I o/c this cpu to 1950Ghz 2600+
i increase fsb to 156 kai vcore to 1,6
the cpu temperature is 68oC in fuzzy logic 4
is this a normal temperature???
