K7N2G-ILSR, Corsair TWINX512 3200, Barton 2500

Is anyone out there running this setup? I have read mixed things about the K7N2G-ILSR and Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT 512MB DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Memory. Just wanted to make sure that the two actually work together. Thanks.

Check to make sure that the RAM is nForce Approved. If you are not sure, call Corsair and ask them. Personally I only use the High Performance Level II Black Muchkin RAM and it is 100% Rock Solid Stable with nForce.

Need help with MSI K7N2G-ILSR

This is probably a really easy problem to fix, but my internet time is limited since my old system is in pieces, and I have to do this from work.
My new MSI K7N2G-ILSR, running with a Barton XP2800 and 2 DIMMs of Geil 512MB DDR PC3200 , doesn't seem to be happy with things. When I tried to turn things on, I got no video output, and there was a regular series of beeps.
I believed this is just a memory issue, and I intended to look into it when I get home...however, it seems things are a little more complicated than I may have thought.
After failing to get any results with the pc3200 512 dimms, I switched to my old 2700 256 meg DIMMS, which I knew worked fine. To my surprise, the system then worked...almost. It got to a certain point, and then gave the message "no drive is connected to fastrack", or something to that effect, and then froze.
The system also worked with combinations of my old 256meg and one of the new 512s, but not with both 512s at once. The 256s, in combination, powered up every time; however, they didn't allow me to install anything. The combination of 2 256s and 1 512 worked most of the time, but would occasionally fail to detect the the RAM - resulting in the same steady beeping as earlier.
For the sake of curiousity, I removed the IDE cable from the DVD drive. To my surprise, Windows (the drive was not formatted) tried to load...which would not happen when the DVD was connected. I then reconected the DVD, and removed the IDE connection from the hard drive. XP tried to install, and then crashed...in fact, the whole system powered down. And now will not restart again. It's dead, and I can't seem to get a single response from it.
This made me wonder if the problem lies with my PSU. Does this sound like something which would happen if the PSU was playing up? I have a 450 watt unit, which I thought would be ok. But the only thing I can think is that the PSU doesn't have enough power to deal with the demands of my new system. I imagine the 3200 DIMMs require a lot more power than the 2700, which might explain why the system can't power up using two of them - the PSU can't handle it.
Any ideas at all? I'm getting more than a little frustrated now. Any advice gratefully received...

Remove all devices from your setup except the CD-ROM (or DVD device) and the hard drive, and connect each to the end connector on different IDE cable, making sure each device is set to "cable select" (preferred) or "master" (2nd choice). Plug the CD-ROM (or DVD device) into IDE2; Plug the hard drive cable into IDE1. For now, don't plug anything into IDE3.
Your power supply is probably adequate, but beware. While many PS'es are "high wattage," many don't deliver enough power to the critical 3.3V bus. Check to make sure that your PS is rated for AT LEAST 28 Amps for the 3.3VDC supply. If not, get a new ANTEC TRUE PS that is. Don't skimp on power; it's like you skimping on food, then running a marathon.
Only install (1) 256MB module in one of the two slots that are together. I recommend the slot closest to the CPU.
If you are running a video card, remove it and use the IGP for now.
Now, power up, and when you get the logo screen, go into your BIOS by pressing the delete key. If your screen is blank and just sits there, then power off, unplug the computer, and set the "clear CMOS jumper." Wait 30 seconds, replace jumper, plug in power cord, and restart computer.
When you get to BIOS, make certain that it sees both drives in the first BIOS screen. Set your time and day (if you like) and then go to the second screen and set your CD-ROM/DVD as the first boot device, set the HD0 as the second (it should already be that way), hit and save and exit, but don't set anything else. Your computer should now boot from the CD-ROM and try to install Windows (I assume XP.) When it asks for you to press F6 to load RAID drivers, don't.
Choose to format your drive using NTFS, don't choose the quick format.

I'm just about to buy a new system with the K7N2G-ILSR, and i'd like to know if it supports the barton 3000.

According to MSI's CPU support page the K7N2G-ILSR does officially support the XP3000+ Barton with 333Mhz FSB but not 400Mhz FSB. If 400Mhz FSB support is important to you you may want to consider as an alternative the K7N2 Delta-ILSR which should be available shortly (end of the month?). Details here of CPU support:-

Barton 2500+ K7N2G-L How to overclock?

Im completely new to overclocking and I dont understand the jargon here and at overclockers.com.
Could anyone explain in simple words how I could speed up the system?
Ive heard there are some windows programs which do it, could this be that simple?

It would be best not to overclock untill you understand every thing about it and the terms.
1st if your running stock cooling i would not even try
2nd If you have the newer barton 2500+ then the CPU is locked and the wire trick does not even work, But older models are unlocked with the motherboard you bought. esay way to tell if you change the settings im going to mention its unlocked.
Over clock in the bios chage the FSB up in small increasements it should be default at 166 (333 CPU bus speed) and you can also change the multiplier it kind of works like this.
166FSB X 11multiplier = 1830MHz roughly (your CPU)
If you change something like this:
180FSB X 12multiplier = 2160MHz
but if you cant change these settings then your CPU is locked and you cant overclock unless you want to go some major altering your CPU.

K7N2G-ILSR - Undocumented Jumper - What the heck is this?

Hi all;
First time post here and, naturally, I have a problem. But then, everybody here seems to have some sort of problem or they wouldn't be here to begin with . . . RIGHT?
Anyway, I picked up this nice looking K7N2G-ILSR board over on sleazeBay a few months back and am just now getting around to trying to get it to run.
The board makes it through POST just fine and actually gets all the way through the BIOS setup (quite unlike a few other MSI boards that I've seen before) with the only hang-up being the typical initial "No FastTrak controller installed" message.
With a clean (NTFS formatted and known "good") Western Digital 160GB HDD as the master (and only) drive on IDE1 and a (known "good") Pioneer DVD drive as the master (and only) drive, on IDE2, the board then comes back with the "No OS Found" message (. . . . duuuhhhhh . . . . ) and requests an OS Set-Up disk to be inserted.
Being an agreeable sort of guy, I immediately plop in my "genuine" WIN_XP_Pro_SP2 CD and the board starts to load Windows. Windows makes it all the way through the "Checking Computer Configuration" phase and "almost" makes it through the "Loading Temporary Files" phase of the initial set-up process. BUT . . . at some point during the "Loading Temporary Files" phase, it fails. I've gone through this eight dozen times over the past week and the 'puter has never made it past this point.
Sometimes the board will just spontaneously reboot, either just shutting down or taking me back to the original BIOS screen, and sometimes it comes up with a BSOD and a stop error, which is different everytime. I've seen 0x08, 0x0A, 0x08e, "IRQL1_not_less_than_or_equal_to", and probably a few more that I didn't even bother to write down. Most times, it's just a BSOD with no "message" at all.
I've been through this entire process with four different AMD Athlon XP CPU's (two 2,500+ Bartons, a 2,600+ Tbred, and a 2,800+ Barton), with five different sticks of 512MB ram (both PC2700 and PC3200 and all from different manufacturers) installed in each of the three DIMM slots on the board.
Never having taken a "Statistics and Probabilities" course, I can't even begin to tell you how many possible combinations of these elements that I've tried, but I do know, it's been a bunch. All to no avail.
Anyway, I was about ready to throw the whole thing in the dumpster (or at least put it back up for sale on sleazeBay) when it occurred to me that "maybe you should read the manual".
I had already downloaded the manual from MSI's site, but had never actually taken the time to study it. Who needs a durned manual anyway . . . RIGHT . . . ?
So . . . long story short . . . I actually studied the darn thing. I not only studied the manual, I also studied "the board" at the same time and found what appears to be an undocumented jumper which is the sole reason for this entire post.
On this particular board, right behind the "JFP2" header and directly underneath the "JDLED" header is a two-pin jumper labeled "JGS1" (yellow arrow in the pic below) that I can find no documentation on nor even any reference to.
Anybody have a clue as to what this jumper does or why I can't get this board to make it beyond the "Loading Temporary Files" phase of the Windows installation?

With the clean/formatted WD1600 drive the XPPro/SP2 install CD starts to load Windows, makes it through the "Checking Computer Configuration" phase and starts the "Loading Temporary Files" phase. It always fails, at some "varying" point during the "Loading Temporary Files" phase, either with a spontaneous reboot or with a BSOD. The BSOD message is usually 0x07 or 0x08, but I've also seen 0x0A, 0x07e, 0x08e, "pci_sys", and "IRQL1_not_less_than_or_equal".
I don't know anything about Linux or the Linux Live CD, but I do have a recent copy of the UBCD4Win (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows) and with the clean WD1600 HDD in place, the UBCD disk will boot (very slowly) and run. But when I attempt to install the OS from it, it fails in the same manner as the original XPPro/SP2 install CD.
With the 80GB WD800 drive (pre-loaded w/ a cloned good copy of XPPro/SP2), the initial WindowsXP splash screen comes up but then fails to load with one of the same BSOD messages as the clean/formatted drive. The UBCD4Win disk fails to even load on this drive ending with the same BSOD screens.
I've tried the "fail-safe" 100MHz FSB setting, disabled all cacheing and shadowing in the BIOS, cleared the CMOS dozens of times, changed the battery, re-flashed the BIOS with the latest BIOS download from the MSI site (even though it was the same BIOS version that was already installed), and tried just about everything else that I can think of.
Even though I have no SATA/RAID drives installed, I did try the "Hit F6 key" option to install the SATA/RAID drivers and they seemed to install fine, but, of course, it made no difference.
I do have the JDLED1 "D-Bracket" and it ends up with all four green LED's lit indicating that the OS should be booting and I do get a single short "beep" as the BIOS kicks-in.
But . . . still nothing.
I really appreciate all of you guys here trying to help out. I've been putting systems together for twenty years and have never had one give me this much grief. I'm about at my wits-end with it.

K7n2g-ilsr does not POST

I have been working on my machine all day to no avail. I have:
- K7N2G-ILSR
- 2-Crucial.com 512 MB 3200 DDR RAM Chips
- AMD Athlon XP 2600+ pocessor (333 FSB)
First of all this machine was running well for the last 4 months. I rebooted XP today and the problems as stated below started.

Whenever I try to boot my system I have no post happening (no beep no video out). If I remove all of my RAM I get some system beeps (good). If I have one chip or the other in any slot nothing happens and if both chips are in nothing happens.
I have cleared the CMOS (J11 set to 2-3, J10 removed, JBAT1 set to 2-3 and then back to 1-2)....still no response.
I have tested the RAM and processor in another machine and they work fine.
Please give any pointers.

I have a brand new K7N2 Delta-L and it also does nothing when I turn it on, the D-Led bracket shows the same error every time.....red, green, on top and red, red, on bottom. I look in the Mb manual and it says its a memory error. I was replacing an asus a7v-266 MB with this new MSI K7N2 so I could get a new 2500+ Barton and I wanted the board, cpu and ram to run at the same speed (333mhz), the computer ran fine with the asus board. Once I switched boards I got the memory error on powerup. I have 2, 512 meg sticks of PC 2700 Ram that I know work. I only have an AMD 1.1 T-Bird on the board now until I get the 2500+ this week. I figured I would change the board and get the computer running again until I got the new cpu. If I put the old board back in with the same ram, cpu, HD, it runs. As soon as I put the MSi board back in, it doesnt run. I set the J10 and J11 jumpers to 100 (safe mode) because thats what the 1.1 runs at, the Cmos clearing jumper was also set correctly from the factory. I have tried it with each stick of ram in, 2 in, 2 different video cards, 2 Hd's, with cd-rom hooked up, without it hooked up. I get nothing on bootup, not even beeps.
I tried removing the battery and jumping the Cmos clearing jumper and leaving it for a few minutes but still same result. I also dont get a signal to turn on my monitor either, as if the video wasnt working either. Thats why I tried 2 vid cards.
I have no idea whats wrong, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First of all when I was installing XP from CD it would get to the starting windows screen and then just power off. The only way to start back up was to unplug the power supply and it would power back up.
I changed to the Bios to defaults and was able to get XP loaded. (Only running at 1100 on the processor)
Now when I change the FSB to 166 it will run for about 5 to 30 min and the power of issue is back. I change the FSB to 100 or 133 and it will stay on and I can even use it.
Could this be a memory issue or a heat issue? It has even powered of in the BIOS screen when I had the FSB on 166.
Any ideas?

Depends what else you've got on your system. My system runs fine with a generic 350W PSU - people will tell you that you need 500w beasts, but hey - Kingmax Memory is supposed to be stroppy with Deltas, but mine's fine The only thing I'd say is that if you've got more than 1 HDD and 1 CD/DVD, then you could do with pepping up the PSU.
Mine's been running non-stop since I got it, night and day, never hit more than 35C with stock cooling and no case fan, and never locked up. Yippee

K7N2G-ILSR need serious help!!

OK, Ive had my K7N2G-ILSR running perfect for nearly a year. It came out of my gaming rig to do duty in my server a few months ago and always ran perfect. 6 weeks ago, I started changing my configuration, I went from a Gainward FX5900 NU to a Radeon 9800 Pro to an MSI FX5900Ultra, and added a Winfast TV2000XP expert, and swapped in a 2800+. It seems as if after I swapped in the 2800+ the problems began. Constant BSOD under use and Memtest86 would lock, never give me errors, just locked. I RMAd the board and got my replacement this weekend. I installed it and almost the exact same problems. In the interim, while the K7N2G was away at RMA camp, I picked up a KT6 Delta LSR and used it in its stead. Same processor, PSU, DDR, HSF, Video card, Tunercard, case and cables. It ran absolutley flawless. I was watching TV on the tuner while browing the web and unRARing a 4.5GB movie file without the slightest hint of trouble.
Now, With the replacment K7N2G in, some days I can Memtest86 for 2 hours without a problem, and sometimes it will not go past the "moving 64K block" section. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will or wont lock. I got into my original windowsXP installation, and tried to run Prime95. Error, BSOD and another BSOD. Then one day, it ran for 1-1/2hours Prime95 perfect. ?!?!? I have tried the following, and have not found a stable setup yet. I dotn want to go back to the KT6 LSR, because I need my Soundstorm and I like dual channel Nforce. Heres everything I have tried.
Downclocked to 133FSB - stable sometimes.
Switched to Single Channel and relaxed timings - no difference.
Removed video card and tuner card - no difference.
Ran single stick of DDR - no difference.
Tested HDD twice - no errors.
Tested HDD on KT6 Delta LSR - ran PERFECT.
Tested DDR on NF7-S and KT6 Delta LSR - ran PERFECT.
Tested 2800+ on same 2 boards - ran PERFECT.
Tested FX5900U on same 2 boards - ran PERFECT.
Disabled FW and AGP8X- no difference.
Tried Onboard Vid - no difference.
Tried MSI FX5200 64MB - no difference.
Upped core and DDR voltage - no difference.
BIOS Safe defaults - no difference.
Cleared CMOS and ran at defaults - no difference.
Checked and rechecked mounting (though the first ran perfect in same case for 8 months)
The only thing left would be the PSU, but it seems hightly unlikely that it would be the culprit, it is only 6 months old. it is a 430W Thermaltake Silent Purepower. I built a system for a friend, nearly identical except his has an 80GB HDD and 9600XT. I recently swapped a 3 year old PP303X Antec 300Watt PSU without P4 connector into his because his cheap Raidmax 400 blew out, and the Antec runs his system rock solid. The temps in my system are right on, 45C CPU Loaded, 32C Case loaded. CPU is cooled by a Vantec Aeroflow w TMD. What the hell is going on here? My level of expertise is high. this is the first system ihave not been able to troubleshoot. I dont want to get stuck with an Nforce2 board sitting on my shelf in its box, and I cant afford to replace it. HELP!!!!

Basically yes, I took everything apart when i installed the KT6 Delta, and when I got my K7N2G back from RMA, I cemoved everything, cleaned the case and reinstalled it all.
When the K7N2G was running rock solid, I was running a 2500+ barton. When I swapped my 2600+ in, after I had the instability with the 2800+, the system seemed more stable, but still had trouble. I wish I had my 2500+ back to test it out, but its long gone. I am using the latest BIOS, 1.8 or 1.9, I forget which, and the one I got back from RMA has the latest BIOS on it as well.
I am really beginning to beleive that my PSU is flaky, and I'm waiting for a friend to borrow me his 350W Antec so I can test the PSU theory. Im still open to suggestions!!

MSI K7N2G-ILSR Problem! Need help!

Hi,i bought a K7N2G-ILSR last year when i was in Germany. This mainboard never worked as well... I wanted to work with Athlon XP 2500+ and Dual Channel 256MB+256MB=512MB 400 Mhz DDR-Ram. It hasn't worked when i first wanted to use and i changed the jumper to the securit mode than it worked but it has never opened with one button pushing.I was always trying to get screen vision with 3-5 closing and opening.One day i tried to get the jumper back and i tried to open but it never worked. I got the jumper securit again but again never worked. I tried everything but it never worked after that event. Normally i had to inform it at first and give it back or give it to the repairing but i couldn't have time. Now i have to do it this time. Now i want to change this or something else but in Turkey. I am living in Turkey and does MSI Support Centre change it or repair it? What can i do to get rid of this problem. Need help!

will the K7N2G-ILSR work with the new SATA WD 74G Raptors? Also will this board support the 300G Diamond Max or the Hitachi 400G PATA OR SATA? also would like to know if anyone used a 9800 AIW or the new X800 XT AIW on this board. would appreciate the input before I purchase. Thanks in advance.

Sorry guys I didnt explain that I am a "techie" (my fault) and yes the Pwr supply is a no brainer for the AIW alone, a cool master 500 watt is already on the list as well as plextor newest dvd dual layer, an upgrade to one gig o ram, and a barton core 333fsb 3000+ xp. I am just looking for actual "hands on" testing of the hardware on this board. I have already done the research on the specs and what should work but for someone to already have experienced it first hand and report thier findings would be a great plus. and yes I have the most current bios from MSI (2.0)

Has anybody else had a problem like this . . .
Ive got this problem with two machines now!!!!
Say for example you boot your machine and go into the bios to change whatever. Then save and exit. It should reboot and carry on to go into windows (or whatever). BUT . . . both of my machines restart and then just sit there and give a long beep which then repeats.
If I turn the machine off completely then back on it starts up ok with any changes to the bios kept from last time.
Can anybody help?!?!??! ;(

On the box:- NVIDIA nForce 2 Ultra 400 Chipset Based.

I have 2x256 PC3200 Corsair DDR and a XP2800 Barton, tried and tested at 240fsb(237fsb Totally stable), And I get the same thing happening to me..Also this board and the last one will NOT do the claimed 400fsb..
And dont say it's the ram because it's not, the ram and CPU are fine.... It's the Motherboard that is incompatable with the Ram & CPU
why because my Ram is Corsair(the name speaks for itself) and works in every system to date!.. The CPU is AMD also works in every system to date!

I also bought a brand new Antec TRUEPower550Watt with front voltage control (£100+) and that still does,nt do it
this is my second board, and im totaly fed up with there crap board. I spent good money for this TOP Class Ram and dont expect to be told the Rams wrong when it works in every other system i have had my hands on!!!!!!!
MY advice is send it back and get an other and if thats no use send it back again and get a refund and buy an ABIT NF7-S.. with exactly the same components i get a fsb of anything(100) upto 240fsb abit..

BIOS failure at startup K7N2G-ILSR

I have just put together a new machine with a K7N2G-ILSR motherboard, an Athlon 2500+ processor, and an IDE disc, not much more than that. At startup, I get the first MSI screen, but when the BIOS screen is then shown, it disappears after about half a second. Instead I get a new screen "Scanning IDE drives", which after about a second gives the message: "No drive attached to Fast Trak controller, The BIOS is not installed".
I cleared the CMOS, and then I actually got the BIOS screen (because it said CMOD CRC error), but the next time I restarted the machine I was back with the same problem as before.
It is possible to enter BIOS setup if I press delete at exactly the right time when the BIOS screen flicker, but I have not find any configuration that would help. Further, after I cleared the CMOS, now my processor is not recognized in detail, it just says AMD Athlon. Before I did that, it actually said Athlon 2500+, how do I make it identify it exectly?

Well, the manual does not say a word about the "fast trak controller" is, and it is not clear what kind of drives that are referred to in that error message. Is this only about Serial ATA drives, or what?
What I have now figured out is that the POST screen (where it is said that DEL will take you to bios) will never appear if the full start MSI screen is enabled, which it is by default. The manual does not say a single word about this, but it refers to the POST screen as the first screen, where one can invoke the bios setup.

Msi Kt333 woes with barton 2500

Hi,
I just got this new processor, the barton 2500 and my computer is very instable.
I have a Kt333 ultra 2 with bios 5.7 and it worked fine with an athlon xp1800+
I set up fsb 166 and everything else in auto and It will crash at random in winxp.
The culprit seems to be accessing the hard disk which is a Maxtor ATA133 7200rpm 60gb.
In one of the BSOD the file that caused the crash was ntfs.sys
I am now running the board at fsb 133 just so I can use the computer.
I have currently installed 1G ram, two sticks of 256m pc2700 and a newly acquired stick of 512 pc3300.
I have a Gf3 ti 200 128m at default settings.
What can I do to fix this without having to go out buy more hardware?

I don't think the KT333 suports ddr400(3200), the Bios 5.7 you have was to fix the 3200+ barton NOT the 3200 ram, So you can only run the DDR333 (2700) ram
and should never mix your ram it will cause nothen but trouble

K7N2G-ILSR: On-board video too unstable to use

Putting together a new computer for my son. Using K7N2G-ILSR and was really looking forward to the onboard video. Using Athlon XP 2100 (from my prior machine -- 100 percent solid CPU) and initially bought Corsair 2700 256MB with the new board. As an immediate downer, the board refused to work with the memory (nonstop beeping/D-LED stuff, etc.) at power up (tried all slots -- same result). Observation: this compares very unfavorably with my highly-favorable experience with Soyo boards, by the way. Swapped out that memory with Kingston 2700 256MB from my daughter's machine, which is running Soyo Dragon Lite.
Ok, so after some immediate (and unnecessary) memory hassle, got system to boot. CPU is running fine and cool at 50 deg C.
Next (BIG, BIG) problem: Onboard Video is WAY, WAY too unstable in Windows 2000 to be usable. At the outset, the video is showing random horizontal streaks (of trash) across the screen. The only time I've seen that before in my 15 years of PC use is in a Diamond video card a long time ago that was also defective. However, I can live with streaks. The problem is that the machine crashes every time, 100 percent of the time, within 15-90 seconds of booting into Windows 2000 (SP3). (Of course, used latest video driver from a web site, different settings, different refresh rates, and all the other usual stuff, etc., etc., etc.) By the way, I had the patience to try this with and without SP3, and tried a zillon different bios settings. Nothing worked -- same immediate crash problem. Also booted into safe mode and same deal -- but at least that confirms that the problem is probably underlying hardware-related problem, not software/driver problem. (If it can't run under generic Windows VGA driver, then it probably can't run under anything else.)
Only solution is to swap in an existing AGP card. That solves the problem 100 percent but I am not exactly happy camper since I paid for the on-board video (and for budget reasons the card that I am swapping in is not exactly cutting-edge.)
If anyone has a silver bullet fix for this, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, I will assume that the onboard AGP is defective and/or poorly designed, whereupon I would have been better off not spending the extra money for it. My best guess is that the memory and/or other video circuitry is defective.
Otherwise, happy with the underlying performance of the motherboard itself but the video fiasco is a BIG letdown. :O

SILVER BULLET FOUND!!! (and it was free) BIG, BIG, BIG cigar to Bikeman for his above post, which focused my attention on the BIOS. Had considered it at the outset, but figured there was no way I was going to need to flash a brand spanking new board. But when you read the BIOS update notes, one of its fixes is with Kingston memory which is currently in the board. Recall from above, however, that Kingston was a fallback as board complained bitterly about the Corsair memory that I bought with the board. (My daugher's Dragon Lite is quite happy with either memory.)
So here's the rundown. Actually couldn't see what bios ver. I had at POST as text went by way too fast. So install live update software which confirmed that I had older v. 1.2 bios. (Interestingly, the live update itself was old enough that it itself had to self-update before I could use). Flashed BIOS to 1.3 using the Windows version of update, which I will report worked real smooth.
Rebooted and proceeded to install fresh nVidia driver from nVidia website. However, I can tell you that the BIOS was definitely the problem because before I wouldn't have been able to easily get to the point of installing video driver without 5-10 crash/reboot cycles -- so the new-found stability made it very clear that the BIOS update was the "silver bullet" I was looking for.
Postscript impressions: (1) MSI boards are VERY finiky about memory (which is a problem that I have never had with Soyo boards), and (2) this is the 2nd MSI board I have bought and the 2nd one that has had severe bios issues. The first board was a low-end A socket board with AMI bios that arrived faulty/trashed -- half way thru POST, bios would start spitting out garbage ASCII characters.
Again thanks again to Bikeman for saving me from spending any more money (on psu or other memory) and for letting my son's system now run 8X AGP.
