K7N420 and 5.1 sound in games?

I've just bought the Inspire 5300 speakers from Creative, but I can't get any sound from the center speaker while playing games. DVDs play fine with DD5.1. I have the speakers conneced to the analog outs.
I have connected the digital out to a DD receiver with the exact same result: 5.1 with DVDs and 4.0 with games.
Is it a driver limitation or am I doing something wrong?

What are your settings for the digital output? If you have it set for anything other than DD, the output is always a two channel digital stream. That stream would then be decoded as "Pro Logic" by your TSS1 speaker system, thus providing sound from all 6 speakers. I'm sorry to say, but that is not true 5.1 sound.
Is it actually true the the game itself must specifically support 5.1 to get real non cheated 5.1 3D sound?
I have programmed some very small applications where a high level 3D sound API was used. You simply put sound sources and a listener in 3D space, and the underlying mechanism (Engine -> DS3D -> Driver -> HW) did the rest. I honestly don't know anything about the interface between DirectSound3D and the driver, but I had the impression that it was the driver's job to present the given 3D sound with whatever speakers avaiable.
Either way I think it's a serious flaw that one of the speakers is muted instead of playing the sounds that come from that direction.

Screeching sounds in games and other problems with Soundblaster live extern

Okay i have the USB external Creative soundblaster li've sound card. i have had a few problems. My first problem is When im in games such as Americas Army i get random Screeches like a tin can being scraped on concrete. My 2nd problem is Talking with my mic. For others to hear me MONITORING has to be enabled, there for i hear myself out of my own speakers as well. I have done everything to try and fix this, i've tried updating drivers, rolling back drivers, using windows automatic drivers. Is there an option i dont see that is causing my card to not sound good? I am using a 2.0 speaker configuration, and i only play the games with headphones on.

You waited 24 hours and gave up? So I'll offer this for anybody else who reads the thread. I have a USB external SB card, but it's in a box somewhere. But IIRC, the Volume Controls work similar to other SB cards. In Volume Controls, Playback, mute the Microphone. In Volume Controls, Recording, select Microphone. This should let you "record" without hearing it on your speakers. Now if a game sets the mixer options for itself, that complicates things. If allowed, choose game audio options similar to these Volume Controls.

No 5.1 sound in games using LogitechZ5300 and Audigy

Hey all. I realize that you can't get 5. sound in games through digital output. So I bought a very nice sound system (Logitech) which is a 5. system, and have it hooked up properly. (The Creative Speaker test confirms that each channel works properly). I also appreciate that stereo sound should only come through the front left and right speakers.
So all that said, I can't get 5. sound from modern games such as Bioshock and Neverwinter nights. I get stereo only. Both games support EAX. So far I have EAX and CMSS off. If I enable CMSS i do get surround but this is just 'copied' sound from the front to some degree. I finally want to enjoy nati've 5. surround, it should be working but I'm not sure why. Any thoughts?

I figured it out, you need to enable EAX from creative speaker settings, then everything works. I have XP btw.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Reset
4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

So I have the updated software or whatever it's called on my MacBook Pro 10.10.2 and I don't know how to record the audio of my gameplay and my voice at the same time. I have a brand new ipad2 that works perfect except there is no sound playing games. If you use headphones there is sound. Video, music etc. All have sound.

Check the side switch above the volume rocker on the side of the iPad. FLip it the other way and see if you get sound from the apps.
If not, double tap the home button to bring up the task bar at the bottom. In the task bar swipe all the way to the right. Look on the far left side and see if there is a speaker icon. If there is, tap it and see if the sounds on apps come back. Then tap the home button.
You can change how the side switch works to either lock screen rotation or to mute system sounds. You can go to Settings>General>Set Side switch to Lock Rotation or mute. If you choose mute, the switch will turn off apps sounds. Otherwise you use the task bar as described above to mute those sounds.

5.1 sound in games with Creative Digital-Speakers and Audigy 2

I know that you can't have real 5. sound (only upmix) in games with Creative Digital-Speakers. Is it possible to connect, without the decoder box, the soundcard with the subwoofer (Line-Out -3)? I want to make the cable for LIN_OUT 3 by myself, but which of the 4 pins are for the subwoofer, center front or center rear (ground is clear)?

Audigy 2 ZS Gamer was working fine, and now it sounds really distort

Yesterday I was playing Doom3 and wow does it ever sound nice I had the EAX 4 enabled since it's been available for Doom3. Now today I'm not sure wtf is going on, listening to anything with my headphones which I always use by the way sounds like crap, muffled and garbled all the sounds are very wrong, like I'm tuning into an AM station but not exactly tuned right on. I did a clean uninstall of the Creative drivers and a new install and it still sounds like crap, nothing in my computer has changed, I'm fully updated with all the drivers, could it be dust or is my card dieing?? Please help.

You will need to reply to this post with more details in a fashion that people can see what troubleshooting you have performed so far.
Also please make a note of the way you have it setup in the mixer etc, do you have a volume control on the headphones? Are you volume levels way to high through the properties area? Does it sound the same through the speakers as it does the headphones?

Problem with sound in games

Hi all welcome as you can see I'm new to your forum. So I have a problem as it concerns the sound in games.
Namely, I bought a Creative Headset HS-800 Fatality everything good in listening to music, etc.
But when I go to the game, I turned the sound (someone shoots to the left I hear him right, and vice versa.)
Yes, in all games but mostly it is felt such a battlefiel or call of duty.
At first I thought that this is the fault of my sound card but it's not because I was in a mate and in him was the same ... This recently replaced the computer and the same thing.

Do you get any problems with sound in other (older) games? You didn't mention which drivers in particular you updated, but make sure the graphics card's ones are included.

I created new Apple ID and when I use a Game Center game that is associated with it. It tries to launch a game for someone else. Instead of letting me start a new game. And this other person still plays this game and does not want me playing their game.

So the big question here is how on earth do i reset my profiles on Game Center so that I can play my own games. I tried the thing where you swipe and choose remove uninstalled the game no matter what it came back up with the other persons game, instead of letting me start my own game. I even made a new Apple ID and it did it too.

Sounds like you are logged in with this persons ID still. Go to Settings>iCloud does this persons Apple ID appear here? If so select it and Sign-Out. Remember to do the same when you've finished and tell them what you've done so they have no issues.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. If that doesn't solve it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
