K7T Pro 2-A damaging CPUs

I have the most strange problem ever.
My MSI K7T Pro 2-A is damaging the CPUs I install for some unknown reason. The mobo has been rock stable for more than a year and a half and I think it is of excellent quality. About 15 days ago the PC froze while downloading a file under Win XP Pro, and then I had to shutdown. When I turned it on again, it makes 1 beep like everything was normal but the video signal was lost. Later, after many tries with different hardware I discovered that my Athlon 1 Ghz was burned; the strange thing is that doesn't had any external signs of burning, the surface was perfect. It was installed with a very good cooler (TITAN TTC-MT1AB) so temperature problems where discarded. Then I bought a new Duron 1.1 Ghz and installed it without problems. The BIOS installed was version 3.41. I flashed succesfully the same day I installed the new CPU to the BIOS last version (3.5) and it ran succesfully for about a week. Today, same story, the Duron was gone this time. My friend told me that maybe there is a sort of incompatibility with the new BIOS, but I refuse to believe it. Apparently the PSU is fine and I see no signs of a damaged capacitor or something like that in the mobo. We have absolutely no clue of what may be causing this; My technician friend tried to boot a Duron 700 Mhz and posted OK, but the new Duron don't posted anymore, after installing it on an older KT7 Pro 2, so I guess is damaged too. Any suggestion will be apreciated, as we try to isolate this problem. I will see if we use a electronic tester. If the PSU is the culprit, I don't understand how it doesn't burned the motherboard already, and if it is the mobo, I don't understand how a processor is running very stable for a week and then dyes. Any advice? I don't want to burn another CPU. ;(

Hi,
The motherboard isn't frieing CPU's, I'm pretty sure the old CPU is fine too....
RMA the board to MSI, as it happens on some boards and they need to be repaired.
Contact your dealer or your nearest MSI Quarters on what to do.
MSI warrants the board for 2 years, so that shouldn't be a problem.

  • K7T Pro won't start up

I have a K7T pro (MS-6300) the last time I turned it off of the screen turned black but everything else kept running. No matter what I did it wouldn't turn off. I unplugged it plugged it back in and it would power itself back on and still have the same symptoms. The diagnostic led's currently all are lit red. I have pulled the batt and jumped it to discharge it and after that the only change is that when you plug it in it doesn't automatically power up but when pushing the power button it is still locked up I  Unplugged everything, ie. drives, video card and modem nothing helps. It is acting like the bios won't initialize. I also put another cpu in the motherboard and still  have the same problem. Can anyone help?

Interesting - sounds exactly like my problem below:
    "K7T Pro 1.0 (6330) not waking up (?)"
It's like the computer comes instantly on (no startup sequence), but then there's no video and no response to kbd.
    Il'll repeat my story here:
---------- 8To my delight, I discovered this morning that my K7T Pro 1.0 Linux server does not respond in any way even if it seems to be on.
I have this strange gut feeling that it's in suspend or standby mode, and refuses to wake up. Other theories are:
    * partly broken PSU or
    * some weird static electricity build-up and damage (2 months uptime, pwr outlet not grounded).
I 'm stuck: Any help or hints are welcome!
    Story this far:
I went to check the situation: even if the computer is on (power light lit, fans spinning), there's no video, and Ctr-Alt-Del does not work.
I turned it off (pressed pwr button 4-5 secs), disconnected the KMV switch box, connected VGA and kbd cables directly to the PC and turned it on again.
Looks promising: power light turns on, fans (cpu + psu) start to spin.
Disappointment: no video, HD does not spin up, no POST beeps to be heard.
After the power is turned on the 4 diagnostic leds light up red and stay that way - no blinking. I recall this is the normal situation when the computer has booted and is running (The manual states that they all should be green after the boot, however. Should the leds be all red or all green?).
Last try: I cleared the CMOS (jumpered JBAT1 to 2-3). No effect whatsoever.

  • K7T Pro V1 sound problems and CPU support

    I have a K7T Pro V1 motherboard.
I can´t use onboard sound, because when I try to locate it (Windows 2000) on Add New Device, appears blue screen and text "Hardware malfunction. Call your hardware vendor for support. The System has halted".
    What I can do? ?(  ?(
I also would like to know why this motherboard does not support Duron Morgan processors only Duron Spitfire -versions?  :(  :(
    Thanks for your help!

I have enabled all in BIOS:
    OnChipSound    Enabled
    OnBoardLegacy Audio    Enabled
    Soundblaster   Enabled
The system does not found new device automatically and when if I try to find new device manually, appears that error message and I have to boot the computer again.
I just wonder is the problem onboard?
    About CPU´s....
Rob454 told "...theyre not officially supporting  the Duron Morgan Cpus".
Does  this mean I can´t use Morgans att all (even 900 or 950)?
I mean does these 900 or 950 Morgans also need SSE support?
And if I´ll try to use for example Morgan 1.2 Ghz does it work att all (or read as Athlon Thunderbird)?

  • Boot a Macbook pro with a damaged screen with my MacBook

Is there a way to start a Macbook pro with a damaged display by hooking it up to my older MacBook?
I want to see if the rest of the laptop is in good condition before sending it out for a new display.

If you're able to connect them with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable, do so, start up the MacBook Pro with the T key held down, and the other computer with the Option key held down. This will only reveal information about the MacBook Pro's internal drive.

  • Does apple care for macbook pro cover water damage?

I just wanted to know if apple care for Macbok pro covers water damage. I mean, it should seeing as I paid over $200 for it.

No. AppleCare is an extension to the warranty. The warranty does NOT cover damage only material and workmanship of the ortiginal product.

Software upgrades do not generally damage hardware; your drive's failure must be co-incidental. On most MBP's, a hard drive is very easily replaced by a user. You might want to check out this site for both hard drives as well as install videos (check which model you have so you can check the correct video):
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
    hard drives:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_storage/hard_drives_and_SSD
I just recently upgraded my MBP with an SSD; I purchased an kit with an external enclosure from OWC and cloned the current drive to the new one, installed the new drive and was done in no time.

  • K7T Pro 266 (Ver. 1.0) with a XP 2200+ Processor

I tried using a amd xp 2200+ processor with a k7t pro 266 mainboard, as soon as i installed the 2200 processor, all i got was red lights (=Something is wrong with the processor). So I took the 2200+ out and installed a 1400+, which was working fine up to then.
Still, the 4 red lights remained.
Since then, I have tried everything. Resetting the CMOS, taking everthing off my mainboard except the processor, then except processor and ram. I even bought a new Processor!
    Still: 4 red lights.
I have no Idea what to do and i don not want to buy a new mainboard.
    Please help me
    Greetings, Mike

Check if there's anything stuck inside the socket and also look for bent pins on the CPU.
    Check for bad caps too.

    please help someone!

An Athlon XP could run in your board but it would only run at about 75% of it's clock speed due to the fact your board doesn't support 266MHz FSB.
Officially you should only use a Duron1300 or old Athlon 1400/200 if you could still find one.
A 250w PSU could limit you depending on the rest of your hardware and the exact model/ratings of this PSU.

  • K7T Pro (MS-6330)

I have a k7t pro and I want to get an athlon xp 1500+ in it. I know its not going to use the full potential of the processor but it is cheaper than an amd athlon 1.2 tbird.
I was running an amd x 1800+ on it before because i got it in a pulled system for free. it worked fine but will a 1500+ work stabily?

    Dear Assaf !
'Since the K7T Pro only supports 200MHz FSB an AXP 1500+ (1333MHz) will only run at 1000MHz.'
This is true if you don't modify the processor.
On the other hand if you unlock the processor (paint the L1-bridges), paint/cut the L10 bridges and change the multiplier, then you can run the CPU at it's full speed.
    I am currently running a XP1800+ (1533MHz) on a K7T Pro2 board with 102MHz FSB and a mult. of 16 (8 in BIOS +8 by CPU) at 1.63 GHz.

  • K7T Pro and GeForce2 Ultra

I Probably haven't searched enough but I would like to know what you think. I purchased a GeForce2 Ultra 64mg for cheap. With the age of my board I would think it would work. The fan fires up but I have no output from the card. Is it a voltage issue? I remember something about this.
    800mhz T-Bird
    K7T Pro ver1:0
    128mg Ram
    TNT Riva  16mg

Voltages are right on. I changed first display to agp but my little tnt card is agp and all works fine. Drivers aren't the issue as when I fire it up my monitor stays in standby. The other thing that happens is I get 4 red leds on my board. I thought that was cpu related. I get no trouble beeps. I'm going to take it to a local shop to test today. I'll post results. Thanks

  • HT2494 The wireless internet card in my macbook pro 2009 is damaged, where can I have it repaired?

The wireless internet card in my macbook pro 2009 is damaged, where can I have it replaced or is there any alternative way so that I can connect to wifi?
    Thanks

Really? The AASP I went to services both Macs and iPhones (and was actually within that list,) and I was very surprised earlier that they refused to help me with repairing my iPhone 5, even if I voluntarily and expressly said that I am willing to pay for the cost. The service provider said he can't help me with anything and advised that I have it shipped to Singapore (and since that is very difficult for me now, I came here instead to ask for advice).
I will try another AASP very soon and shall update you. Thanks for your help, Clinton!

  • Windows 2000 (SP3) crashes on K7T Pro

    Hi
    I have a this configuration:
    K7T Pro (BIOS 3.6)
    Athlon 1200
    256 Ram pc 133
    Geforce 3 ti200 detonator 40.71
    hdd 20gb maxtor
    Windows 2000 with SP3
    directx 8.1
    4in1 drivers
the problem is windows hangs and the 4 back leds turn all green on any application and more specially on games like quake 3, i want to know if its caused by some drivers? or do i need to install a patch for windows 2000 that fixes some AMD issues or mobo problems?
    help would be apreciated

Sure you can Install a lv application manually. just copy the exe-file,
support files in a folder. For the runtimeengine just copy the file
lvrte.dll in the folder of your application or in the windows system folder.
    Hope that helps, Niko

  • K7T Pro-RU-2 Geforce 3 ti 500 crash

My system keeps crashing and rebooting frequently, sometimes as much as 3 times in an hour.
    My configuration is:
    K7T Pro-2 RU
    AMD Athlon XP 1900+
    Antec TruePower 550W PSU
    Crucial DDR PC2100 RAM 512MB (1 module)
    Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti 500
    Realtek 10/100 NIC PCI
    USR Hardware PCI 56k modem
Latest Nvidia Drivers and VIA 4in1
I have tried updating the BIOS but it failed twice and locked up.  Had to reflash it with old BIOS.
Also I have no crashes or reboots if I install my old GeForce 256.  Temperature doesnt seem to be a factor its 51C with Geforce 256  and 47C with Geforce 3 ti 500.
Any help or info would be appreciated.

It still crashes even if the video card is the only card in.  But it still works on my old PC with all my same PCI cards only difference is VIA 100, Athlon 500.
It names Nvidia GeForce Ti 500 driver nvdisp.  Its an infinite loop error.
I just hope to find some solution that wont cost to much.

  • Win XP & K7T Pro 2

    MSI K7T Pro 2-A
    AMD Duron 700
    PSU 300W
    256 Ram (133)
    3d Prophet II Mx
    AOC monitor 7Vlr
    here's the problem:
My computer freezes very frequently. (when running outlook Express, IE6, or any kind of software...)
    2 things can happen then:
    - a blue screen appears telling most of the time: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (but not every time) and physical memory is emptied. then I can reboot my computer with a reset.
    - monitor screen suddenly become black but computer is still running and I can stop it only by switching off the power supply. nothing else works.
I noticed also that many programms crashed with no specific raison. (music player, internet explorer, etc)
What is weird is I have Win XP running with no problem during 6 months and one day all these things happened .
I have downloaded all the latest drivers, flashed the Bios, tried with different material. (tried different ram)
I brought the computer back to my vendor and they told that the PSU was dead so they changed it but I'm still having troubles ...

yes I read many threads on the forum about this problem.
at least cool to see I'm not the only one to have this problem..
However I can't see anything wrong when watching on my mother board.
I checked temperature and it stays between 35°C & 39°C.
Cooler seems to have a normal speed.
But the fact is now my computer is crashing after 10-15 minutes.
BTW what about the latest MSI mobos? any problem detected?
and if I want to keep my AMD Duron processor which mobo should I choose?
