K7t pro ver1 boot up problem

Yesterday my system suddenly went out when I was installing Oracle under Mandrake Linux.  And then it won't boot up, it don't post anything.  I heard a long beep and followed by two short beeps during the bootup, the DLED was RED-RED-RED-GREEN (from top to bottom) at that time.  And the DLED finally stayed at GREEN-RED-GREEN-GREEN.
I unplugged everything out except for the memory and cpu and cleared CMOS, then reboot, still same problem.
Anyone could give me a hint?  Did the MB die?

  • Does K7T Pro ver1 support IBM 120Gb HD?

I'm thinking of buying a IBM 120Gb HD, so it would be nice to be sure that my motherboard (K7T Pro VER1) does support that HD size. I believe I have the latest BIOS - doesn't remember the correct version, but I updated it a fem months ago...
    Thanks in advance!

  • K7T Pro and GeForce2 Ultra

I Probably haven't searched enough but I would like to know what you think. I purchased a GeForce2 Ultra 64mg for cheap. With the age of my board I would think it would work. The fan fires up but I have no output from the card. Is it a voltage issue? I remember something about this.

Voltages are right on. I changed first display to agp but my little tnt card is agp and all works fine. Drivers aren't the issue as when I fire it up my monitor stays in standby. The other thing that happens is I get 4 red leds on my board. I thought that was cpu related. I get no trouble beeps. I'm going to take it to a local shop to test today. I'll post results. Thanks

  • Msi k7t pro MS 6330 - best graphic card

    hello gentlemen
As announce subject I am k7t pro ver1 owner. Nowadays the MB is provided with riva tnt2 model 64 - yeah it is old one. I would like to change the graphic card, up to the good one. So is there any graphic card you know may be recommend? Some VGA x4, having best technical parameters to the mainboard?

    thanks for reply
sure, I do not intend play newest games, anyway I wish to play hitmanII, or III and IGI-2 - some ! The MB I have is retired. Max CPU to the MB is 1.2G Athlon - and I fited out with it (1.2 Athlon). Power suply is powerful 350W of good make; also 448 sdr sdram is going to be. I just do not know if Geforce 4 will be suported by the MB. AGP port is 4x only.
Man, did I  well anderstand you? You mean that if I plug in 8x graphic card the system wil be stable? Ex. MSI GForce 4 Titanium 4200 128DDR? And will work fine on the MB?
Anyway I wish to plug in as good as possible (or something about) graphic card...  so are there any  suggestion ?

  • K7t Pro 2a problem (it boots and after 1 hour it stops)

    Hey,
Since 1 week now I have a problem with my MSI K7T Pro 2a mainboard.
When I'm working the first hour(s) my pc works ok, but at a certain moment I hear a 'whistle' (somebody told me it's a condenser that works bad).  When that sound is over (in less then a minute) my pc stops working.
The only way to shutdown my pc is to press the powerbutton for a couple of seconds.
When I press the powerbutton again it wont boot anymore.  I could wait some time or I can unplug my pc and it works again for only 1 minute.  After a couple of hours I can work further.
I check everything (powersupply, cpu, memory, hd) but I know for 100% that it is the mainboard.
I bought this on the 01/feb/2001.
    Please help me.
    Greets!

Can you tell me what you mean by condenser?

  • K7T Pro V1 sound problems and CPU support

    I have a K7T Pro V1 motherboard.
I can´t use onboard sound, because when I try to locate it (Windows 2000) on Add New Device, appears blue screen and text "Hardware malfunction. Call your hardware vendor for support. The System has halted".
    What I can do? ?(  ?(
I also would like to know why this motherboard does not support Duron Morgan processors only Duron Spitfire -versions?  :(  :(
    Thanks for your help!

I have enabled all in BIOS:
    OnChipSound    Enabled
    OnBoardLegacy Audio    Enabled
    Soundblaster   Enabled
The system does not found new device automatically and when if I try to find new device manually, appears that error message and I have to boot the computer again.
I just wonder is the problem onboard?
    About CPU´s....
Rob454 told "...theyre not officially supporting  the Duron Morgan Cpus".
Does  this mean I can´t use Morgans att all (even 900 or 950)?
I mean does these 900 or 950 Morgans also need SSE support?
And if I´ll try to use for example Morgan 1.2 Ghz does it work att all (or read as Athlon Thunderbird)?

  • [VIA] K7t pro 2, problem installing xp.

Hey guys, great forum. I have a msi k7t pro 2 board with an amd 700mhz thunderbird processor. I'm currently running 512mb of pc100 ram,an off brand 32mb video card, and a soundblaster live sound card. My problem i'm having is when I try to install xp, after it says hit any key to boot from cd, the keyboard stops responding. After it loads the setup files and gets to the point of "to install xp hit enter", the keyboard lights go off and I get no response whatsoever.
I have tried taking my sound card out. I tried swapping ram out of a good running computer after it was tested with memtest86. I have tried 2 different ps2 keyboards to no aval. I also tried a usb keyboard, in doing so I enabled the support for the usb keyboard in my bios; still didnt work.
I'm close to giving up on this board. I have tried several other forums, but no one could help me with this issue. My bios version is version 1.9. I seen that version 3.1 had a fix for the xp install. I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is it possible to flash my bios to a newer version?
If anyone at all with any knowledge of my problem could help me out, I would be GREATLY appreaciated.

    Hello,
What video card are you using?
Try clearing the CMOS, using the jumper on the board.
Place it to the clear position and leave it there for 3mins.
Then put it back to the save position
And power the PC, reconfigure only your CPU settings/memory settings and boot order.
Then boot from the XP CD and see what happens.
Thanks a lot for your reply. Im not quite sure what video card I have but I guess it wont matter now. I did what u had suggested and it worked!!! You dont know how greatful I am that you got my computer going again.  You are the only person who has actually had an idea as to what it might be.  Who knew it was as simple as clearing the CMOS. I appreciate the help. Thanks a TON!!

  • 3 yr old macbook pro boot up problems

Hi, I bought a 13” macbook pro 3 yrs ago.. Its running the latest version of Lion.
I have a boot up problem.
Initially the boot up sound will go off and get stuck on a white screen.
I’ve left it on for 30mins….it took me to a disk disk utility  screen…
    I’ve clicked on repair disk….after about 15mins
    Its saids
    Checking Journaled  HFS Plus volume
    Invalid B-tree node size
The volume could not be verified completely
Then I restart….now… not only does it get suck on the white screen, but the boot up sound keeps repeating
Im currently living in Hong Kong, what should I do now, and if it requires repairs…how much would It cost.
    Thanks,
    WB

I don't know what happened. It is not a common occurrence. It can be caused by power outages, abnormal shutdowns, software glitches, etc.
I would think seriously about a backup strategy for the future:
    Basic Backup
Get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    Synk Pro
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
    Cool Drives
    OWC
    WiebeTech
    Firewire Direct
    California Drives
    NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Problem with K7T Pro (MS-6330)

I've been used MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) for 2 years and it worked just fine. But recently the problem occurred. After I've upgraded CPU from Duron 600 to TB 1.2 GHz, when I run a heavy-loaded application such as 3DMark, 3D games (UT2003) my computer will stop working (IMO: my case just like the classic K7T Pro) but when I touched the SC1155 chip, it just warm (it won't burn my finger). So I'm confused that is my mobo defected or not?
Oh, almost forgot .. my mobo was modified and can adjust multiplier.
    FYI:
I've tried underclock CPU to 950 MHz and I've found that 950 work fine (or at least it use very long time to run full-loaded and then die). Once I forgot to plugged electric-cable for my heatsink fan and temp goes 66-68C and still working normally (not running 3D app.)
So, can anyone suggest me what is the problem with my mobo?
Thank you very much and apologize for my language  :P
    My Spec:
AMD Athlon (TB) 1.2 GHz (but now run @950MHz) VCore 1.55 (tried 1.55-1.85 result is the same)
MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) modified to adjust multiplier
    250W Powersupply
    256 MB PC133
    Winfast GF2MX 32 MB
    SB Live! Value
    Lite-on DVD16x
    2 Harddisk (40GB and 4 GB)

    Hi,
RMA the board, contact your nearest MSI office and ask for the RMA department.
There is not much more you can do.

  • My MacBook Pro has booting Problems, Light keeps on Blinking. What to do?

My MACBOOK PRO (Early 2011) is having booting problems. It doesnt want to be shut off. If I do shut it off it would take an hour for it to boot. The light keeps on blinking when i push the on button. After a few times of pushing the button and the blinking light the light keeps steady and the MACBOOK PRO seems to be turning on . A Whirring noise/ sound can be heard. I then turn it off and push the ON Button again and the MACBOOK PRO finally boots. The problem repeats again when i turn the unit off.
I already had it checked by APPLE but they said they cannot find anything wrong with it!! Any help will be highly appreciated.

Shut the machine down by holding the power button until the computer is off.
    Release the power button.
Reset the parameter RAM by powering up the machine then holding the key combination:
    <COMMAND> + <OPTION> + p + r   until you hear the restart chime three times
Then perform a SMC Reset by following this procedure from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Lastly,
If you are running 10.5.4 as shown in your details... Boot to the System install disk
and select the language then select the menu item "Utilities > Disk Utilities"
repair permissions and repair the disk using the repair tool

  • K7T Pro 2-A damaging CPUs

I have the most strange problem ever.
My MSI K7T Pro 2-A is damaging the CPUs I install for some unknown reason. The mobo has been rock stable for more than a year and a half and I think it is of excellent quality. About 15 days ago the PC froze while downloading a file under Win XP Pro, and then I had to shutdown. When I turned it on again, it makes 1 beep like everything was normal but the video signal was lost. Later, after many tries with different hardware I discovered that my Athlon 1 Ghz was burned; the strange thing is that doesn't had any external signs of burning, the surface was perfect. It was installed with a very good cooler (TITAN TTC-MT1AB) so temperature problems where discarded. Then I bought a new Duron 1.1 Ghz and installed it without problems. The BIOS installed was version 3.41. I flashed succesfully the same day I installed the new CPU to the BIOS last version (3.5) and it ran succesfully for about a week. Today, same story, the Duron was gone this time. My friend told me that maybe there is a sort of incompatibility with the new BIOS, but I refuse to believe it. Apparently the PSU is fine and I see no signs of a damaged capacitor or something like that in the mobo. We have absolutely no clue of what may be causing this; My technician friend tried to boot a Duron 700 Mhz and posted OK, but the new Duron don't posted anymore, after installing it on an older KT7 Pro 2, so I guess is damaged too. Any suggestion will be apreciated, as we try to isolate this problem. I will see if we use a electronic tester. If the PSU is the culprit, I don't understand how it doesn't burned the motherboard already, and if it is the mobo, I don't understand how a processor is running very stable for a week and then dyes. Any advice? I don't want to burn another CPU. ;(

    Hi,
The motherboard isn't frieing CPU's, I'm pretty sure the old CPU is fine too....
RMA the board to MSI, as it happens on some boards and they need to be repaired.
Contact your dealer or your nearest MSI Quarters on what to do.
MSI warrants the board for 2 years, so that shouldn't be a problem.

  • K7T Pro-2 U rev 1 turn off after 20secs.

    Hi,
    Houston, i got a problem!
My computer has always been working fine for at least 13month, period of first use of my motherboard and CPU.
Well,  2 weeks ago, i got this first crap, screen turned off and all devices too, just the motherboard was running, thus i shutdown and re-turn on my computer--> nothing and 4 red LED.
CPU dead?  i guess no 'cause, i plug off my PowerSupply cable and re-plug it in, the system's running while 20-30seconds and shutdown but fan's still running, though if i reboot it, i got 4 red disgnostic's LEDs, and i just have to plug in/off PS cable to reboot system which will finally shutdown after 20-30seconds....
I try to change some parts: memory, gfx card, therm' paste, plug off all devices --> no chance
Anyway about Therm' paste, i first used silver grease, but during 10month i haven't gotten any problems, i changed sliver grease for thermal paste now, but problem stills.
    My box:
    MSI K7T Pro-2 U rev 1
    Duron 1,2 Ghz
    392 SDRAM PC 133
    Geforce 2 MX
    cheers
ps: sorry for my english, it's not my first language.

oh no, this is not this kind of traces, it's lighter and really fine, maybe it was just a layer of dust.
    Anyway, capacitors don't seem defect.
Well i repeat to be sure :
i can boot my computer, the detection cycle pass but during boot  20-30sec later, screen/devices turns off but fans still running.
if i reboot, i get 4 Red LED thus i have to plug off my cable from wall and re-plug it in to have the possibilty to redo boot detection until it crashs 20 sec later .
Thus the MB can turn on, i see bootsequence and even linuxboot on my screen.
I have disconnected my HD because when i boot on it with "Trend Antivirus" enabled from BIOS, it shouts: "Boot virus detected, type ENTER for ..etc..etc.."
Nevertheless, even with no devices enabled except Dvd for booting with a LinuxLive i go to the wall after 30sec
    CPU is well detected
Memory also (3x128) i tried several combos and other memory
About PSU, i haven't opened it yet even if i have doubt about its culpability.
    cheers and really thank you!
