K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition

Ok fellas, here's my question.
I'll try to include as much info as possible here.
I have the K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition version 3.0A (at least that's what the users manual says). It's a  Red Motherboard  and has 2 IDE Controllers. I simply want to know what is the fastest processor I am able to run in this board? Also, I was looking at the BIOS updates and noticed that some have footnotes regarding the Turbo2. So what is the latest BIOS Update that I would use for this particular board? Please pardon my ignorance here. My hopes here are that these are softball questions for you guys.

Thanks a bunch BAS!
Would this be the processor you're talking about? http://store.yahoo.com/directron/xp153.html
I found this online. Also, what would be the BIOS update I would use? I was looking at several posts last night and saw that the Power Supply is going to be a very important issue here. The case I have purchased comes with a 320W PS but I noticed when I was reading that 320W doesn't always mean 320W  ?( .  I appreciate all the help you guys offer here! Thanks again BAS!  :P

  • K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition and USB

After doing whatever research I could in these forums, I really couldn't find solid answer so I'm posting my questions.
I have recently ordered a new case for my K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition (it's the red one) which has additional USB connections in the front of the case.
Am I going to be able to connect the board to the case so I can use those USB slots?

    Hi Gregthos,
I remember there was something with these connections - I think they will only work with the bracket and for the PC2PC connection ...
There is at least 1 thread on this in the forum ... here

  • K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition W/Raid

    Two questions,
first how do you tell if your XP 1800+ is a palomino? I purchased one but all it says is AMD Athlon XP 1800+ on the factory sticker.
Second when I use this processor with my K7T Turbo-R Limited W/Raid it will boot up fine, displays the correct processor speed (shows XP 1800+ in post) but the pc will at random times out of the blue just re-boot. I have a 400 watt psu AMD approved.  and my memory is good. I've done all the bios updates also. Is it possible that this is an unsupported cpu?

  • MSI K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition

Is this board no longer getting supported for new BIOS updates??
Thanks to anyone who knows this.

    Hi
I have Tv-Tuner, internal modem, LAN, second Sound Card on PCI and Gforce on AGP. Windows XP share IRQs and computer crashes. I hope, that with APIC will be less sharing then now. Yes, I know, that phisicaly there are only 4 IRQ signals on PCI A,B,C,D. But I thing that APIC should works better for me.
P.S. I tried all that stuff - change to "Standard PC" (shut down won't complete); manual assign IRQs in BIOS - nothing happens, cause WinXp override BIOS settings, etc. etc. etc.
P.S.S. I return original BIOS, cause BIOS for 7ZXE didn't know what clock ICs and voltage ICs are on my board

  • K7T Turbo R Limited Edition and crackleing sound

I started getting a crackling sound recently. I never had that problem before. The only thing I can think of that I have done that may have started it was to update the bios and the via chipset drivers. I tried to reinstall the 442 drivers (only the pci part) but no change. I reinstalled the 443.
I read in other threads that it could be either a latency problem. Also moving the sblive sound card could do fix the sound. I don’t seem to have any latency timing adjustments in the bios and I tried moving the sound card to number 3 and the number 6 slot with no luck. I have tried a couple of 686 bug fixes and they didn’t work. But I have also read where that wouldn’t work so I removed them.
Is there anything that might work?
    Win XP
    AMD 1800+
    Gforce 4 mx 440
    512 meg 133 ram
    60 gig HD Maxtor 7200
    40 gig HD Maxtor 7200
Promise Ultra 100 controller (Couldn’t get the onboard raid controller to work.)
    SbLive  5.1
Actiontec 56k PCI call waiting modem
    Asus 50 cd
    Mitsumi 16 speed cdrw
    Iomega zip 100

install "PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets

  • K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition & XP

I have just added a new harddrive to my system to replace a smaller one. The NEW hard drive shows up as drive F and not drive D like it should.
The new drive is the master and my other drive is a slave set up correctly on IDE channel 1. I also have a CD-RW and a CD-ROM on my IDE channel 2.
When I had 2000 and 98SE, and adding a new device, if it was on IDE channel 1 it was drive C & D and IDE channel 2 was E & F.
Also my A drive is now showing as A AND B when reading a diskette?????
Is this a know issue with XP this board and VIA chipset drivers???
Any help would be appreciated! I am NEW to XP ONLY.
    Thanks!

    OK thanks Bas and Denis.
Will I need to reload everything since the drive will not longer be F in the reg. or will it know that it's now C???

  • PCI 2.1 SLot on K7T Turbo Limited Edition?

I'm about to get a Firewire Card but I'm not sure whether my MB :   K7T Turbo Limited Edition (MS-6330 v3.X) has a PCI 2.1 slot. I haven't found it in manual either. Can anybody help?
    Thanks
    minurec

    Welcome!
My Turbo2 manual doesn't specify either, but specs on MSI site for mine shows 32 bit PCI 2.2, usually backward compatible. Your MB is just one very short edition back, and I bet your slots are probably the same and 2.1 compatible. MSI shows yours as 32 bit, but w/o the #version. To my memory the 2.1 standard predates our MBs by a couple of years or more. I think you're safe to go.

  • Getting K7T Turbo limited edition what is the fastest processor it will run

As the subject sugests my friend is about to give me his motherboard, ram and cpu the motherboard is a K7T Turbo-R (I'm assured this is the limited edition one) but he only has a slow old 1ghz processor on it. I've looked at the bios upgrades and I'm not sure what the fastest chip is that I can fit with the latest bios upgrade as it's written in funny english. It says: Support AMD XP 2400+ & 2600+ (K7T Turbo2 only) does this mean both chips are only supported on the turbo 2 or just the 2600+. My educated guess tells me that I would be able to fit a 2400+ as this is a 133/266 FSB processor but not the 2600+ as this is 333mhz. Please can someone help me I'm just starting to learn about computers and I don't really know what I'm talking about!

    Hello,
If you are sure it is the limited edition then
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=25&kind=1
    "It says: Support AMD XP 2400+ & 2600+ (K7T Turbo2 only)"
That lines means only the K7T Turbo2 supports the XP2400 and XP2600
    (non 166FSB versions  )
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=24&kind=1
See they are 2 different boards?

  • K7T Turbo Limited Edition HD Max

I currently am running this setup:
K7T Turbo Limited Edition Motherboard, AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53 Ghz, 384MB PC-133, 27.2 GB WD, 40GB Maxtor, Gigabyte 5900XT, MSI 52x Combo, Linksys 10/100 NIC, Sound Blaster Live Audigy2 Limited Edition
I have been over and through the website and I noticed that with the new BIOS which (3.6) the Turbo2 (which I don't have) can run up to a 160GB Hard drive.  I was wondering what the max is for the normal turbo.  My WD 27.2 GB drive is going sour and I want to upgrade to a Seagate 200GB HD, since I plan to use it when I upgrade in January.  Any ideas whether it will work without out major headaches?

  • K7T Turbo limited edition can't support Windows XP!!!!

i'm user of K7T Turbo Limited Edition mainboard, i treid to upgrade my OS to Windows XP currently and i found that the installation aborted abnormaly when it reach windows is restarting phase, and my PC will just hang without giving any response, i'm wondering my mianboard can't support Windows XP. Another prob i face is my hp deskject 630c printer couldn't supported by the mainboard also, i had tested on other PC and it works truly well. Anyone facing similar situation ?? can i solve my prob with update the latest BIOS

    Hi!
There is no reason why your mobo (or printer for that matter, XP-drivers, both for parallel and USB interface can be downloaded from the HP site) would NOT support Windows XP.
It could be, however,  that you need to update BIOS first. If you have a BIOS version prior to 3.0, you will have to update.

    7200 Radeon Pci 32mb
    REalTek Ethernet
Welp fixed other problem by installing XP with cpu cache off and then turned back on when finished. Everything seemed to work fine all up to the point when I tried to start playing games. First game "quake 3" works fine aslong as im constantly moving intill I have to leave it on untouched for a min or so. Then it locks up or freezes and all I see is a black screen. In  starcraft it will let me play for a good 2 minutes and then the screen freezes. Last game  I tried was black and white that let me play for a good 4 mins then everytime i tried again the time it took to lock up got shorter and shorter. Ive installed new bios and via chipset drivers and still nothing.
Anybody got any other ideas I can try ????????????

well I didnt think I needed to since I was using a PCI card. I guess Ill go ahead and try. As for my power source im going to list everything it says cause i dont know a thing about them.

I want to extend my memory but when i insert another memory to another slot computer does not start... Problem occurs only with 2 or more slots sed... this memory works with no problems in other computer (different mainboard)

    thanks in advance

Most times is due to incompatibility between memory modules. Best way to avoid it is to buy 2 modules same brand, or one bigger module.
