K7T Turbo2 12v power connector
I connected the 4 pin (jpw1) 12v power connector on my mobo to my 250 watt PS and the video dropped out. If I disconnect the 4 pin connector, it works. Should this be connected? If not, why is it there?
That connector is used to supply extra power to the cpu. If the system works fine without it being connected, no need to connect it IMHO.

Does anyone connect the ATX 12V power connector?
Does anyone connect there power connector to the ATX 12V connector? The 12V power connector is used to provide power to the CPU, or is that what the 20-pin connecter is for? The 12V connecter is usually next to the socket and has 4 pins. thx for the help 8)
plug the 4 pin in it should be more stable
update bios as well

KT2 COMBO, Is 12v power Connector Needed?
Just Bought a "KT2 COMBO" to upgrade mi good old 6330 lite, and add some 2100 DDR Ram, and a new xp processor ( 2000+ ).
The problem is I'm using the same case, and the power supply in it has no 12 V ATX Power connector.
In the Quick User Guide, it refers to it (p 2-9), saying it's to provide power to the CPU.
Would the system work ok if I use only the main power connector?
Has anyone tried using it this way?If you don't have stability problems it's probably fine.
You can buy an adapter to allow you to convert a mulex ( like you plug into an HDD ) to the 4 pin 12V plug.
If you don't have one you might try looking in local shops for butn out PSUs that have them, cut the wire and solder it to your PSU's output ( yellow to yellow, black to black ) -
KT880 delta 12v power connector
I just purchased a Kt880 delta and see that it has a 12v cpu power connector which my atx power supply does not have. do I need this connector?. The msi web site says it is used for p4's.
Yes, a new PSU is in order. The KT880 board relies heavily upon the 12V and 3.3V, while (like many newer boards) largely ignoring the 5V.
As mentioned previously, avoid cheap PSU's, as they cannot always deliver the power needed for modern systems. Many cheap PSU's use a high amp rating on the 5V rail, to claim they have a PSU that can deliver more juice, but they simply cannot run a newer system. -
Good morning everyone,
On my P35 Neo 2 FR the connector has 8 holes with 4 plugged out by a small piece of white plastic. When I assembled the machine I didn't think about it. I used the 4-prong cable to connect.
Does anyone know the use of the other 4 holes on that motherboard?
Have a nice day.Quote

If your power supply has an 8-Pin connector or an additional 4-Pin connector, you can take off the plastic cover and use all Pins of the mainboard connector.
If your PSU only has one +12V-CPU-4-Pin plug just leave it as it is now. There are adaptors but they are of no use whatsoever. You CPU will get enough power. -
Ive just modded my new power supply to fit my bespoke case, but the ATX 12v power connector(4pin) has a fault.
when connected it causes nasty noices through the speaker system like its got a break in the wires from the PSU to the connector on the board.
The question is......
I havent got it connect at the mo, the pc is running ok so do i need to use it??????

PS cant take the PSU back its got no case anymorethe 20 pin atx has 5x 5v feeds but only 1x 12v
this is because in the past 5v feed the vga card and the cpu
now modern vga cards lie yours feed of the 12v as does the cpu
now a pin on the atx moules i rated to 6a max giving 72 watts max
many amd cpu pull that on their own
this is why these and other boards have the extra 2x 12v feeds -
Computer wont start when 12V CPU connector is plugged in
Hello.
First of all, I'am from Norway so my english is perhaps not that impressive :P
I recently decided to upgrade my computer a bit and for now, these are the parts that are installed (only the nessecary parts for a startup is installed for now. Installing the rest as I see things are working) :
MSI PM8PM-V
Intel Core Duo 2 E6300
512 DDR2
120gb western digital
Geforce 6800 256MB
Now to the problem. On the motherboard there is a plug that is for (quote from the manual) "This 12V power connector is used to provide power to the CPU" so in my little world this is an important thing to have. The problem is that if this plug is used/connected the computer does not start at all. Nothing happens what so ever. However if the plug is not connected the computer starts and is running fine but the monitor is dark and it's acting like it's in sleepmode (the monitor-LED is yellow not green as it is when it's active). So in other words I'am not getting any further...Quote from: Eirik87 on 10-December-06, 00:53:31

What PSU are you using?
What is the specs amps of the PSU? -
I just bought the K7N2 Delta-ILSR motherboard to replace my old ASUS one, and I found one problem. This new motherboard has a connector that just says:
ATX 12V Power Connector: JPW1
This 12V power connector is used to provide power to the CPU.
Now, my power supply does not have anything I can fit in that connector, is there any solution that does not involve buying a new one?
Thanks!Hi all
i just hooked up my 12v power connecter(little square plug next to main power plug) and all seems ok so far but i was wondering as you said jmbook1 some people have had problems hooking it up and i just wonder'd what type of probs can occur in doing this.??
my rails are on thread called dvd playback probs but were taken before hooking this connecter up so they may differ now?not sure will check later.

K7T Turbo2 power connector JPW1
K7T Turbo 2 power question. I’m unsure about the use of power connector JPW1, the 4-pin Molex ATX 12v connector (additional voltage for the CPU). I’ll be using an Athlon XP 1700+ and a 300W power supply with out the Intel P4 updated compliance that calls for the additional 4-pin 12v :] Molex connector. My questions are:
1. Is the additional 12v (JPW1 connector) plugged in to an ATX 12V PSU required for an Athlon XP 1700+ or can I leave it unplugged?
2. Can I use a P4 adapter ATX cable for this purpose :] without problems rather than replacing my current PSU?Ok im a newbbie, quick question, I have a KT7 Turbo2 also, with a Durhon 1100 overclocked only to 1210, a 16x LG writer, a few fans and HD cooler, a 40gb Quantum Fireball AS PLUS HD.. nic card, and a Gforce 2 23mb DDR creative card.. my power supply is a generic 330 watt with the JPW1 connector and since the Mobo has a JPW1 connector on it, should I use it, I do a lot of downloading (i mean lots, like it never stops, my computer downs gigs of data 24/7 (server) ).. and im buring 24/7 also.. should I use it, what is the advantages.. ???? please let me know thanks
Thanks ) -
K7T Turbo2, Aux 12v connector
Anyone know if the 12v 4-pin connector is absolutely necessary? My power supply doesn't have one, and I'm at the end of my budget. Will the board run stably without one? I've never run into one on an Athlon board, before. Thanks

It isn't necessary on any of MSI's current socket-a boards, but may help stability in some cases.
Its purpose is to augment the PSU's ability to feed +12v power to the motherboard because each contact of an ATX power connector can only carry 6-10 amps safely.
Mobo makers are free to use this additional +12v feed as they wish so any other blanket statement about what it is used for must be taken with a large grain of salt. -
I just recently purchased a K7T Turbo2 mobo. I am replacing an Abit KT7A which all of a sudden stopped being able to read data of off any of my hard drives.
I installed the case connectors as shown in the owners
manuel, but can not now get it to power up. The owners manuel does not specify on the speaker ,reset switch, or the power switch, which pin is positive. Can anyone confirm which way the connectors go? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.hi, i have that board and i have mine with the printed side of the connector all facing up,towards the cpu, both rows but that might not be your problem, double check ram and video, make sure their seated good,it takes a very hard push to get them fully inserted, good luck and let us know how you come out :P

I have the K7T turbo 2 motherboard does the JPW1 connector need to be plugged up, as i have read the manual it states that it supplies a 12v power to the cpu but is this seperate from the atx connection. the manual doesn't say if it should be connected with the atx power supply
I have used my 1600+ oced without it on that board. I agree with Wonkanoby, but if your computer runs okay without it, I wouldn't rush out to buy a powersupply with that connector.

The additional 12V - 4pin power connector
Basically, I just have two simple questions:
1.) What is the above additional power connector for? (accoring to the voltage it should drive the CPU's cooling fan - am I right?)
2.) Will the GF4 MX440 8TX run if I do not have such a connector on my motherboard?
Can anybody help with that?it feeds 12v direct to cpu and it will not be stable without it
the gf4 means you need a good combined wattage
look for over 200 on a psu and 28a 3.3 v not 14 -
ATX 8-pin Power Connector: JPWR2 12v power to CPU
MSI P67A-G43 (B3) motherboard, COOLER MASTER Elite Power Supply, Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz
I have two 4-pin power connectors coming from my power supply. Should I connect just one to the top of the socket as shown in this link
http://www.mediafire.com/i/?91bhhi1myt9f5zo
or should I hook both of them to the 8-pin socket?
I am waiting for a replacement for my i5 cpu. My new build wouldn't boot and gave a 5 beep code and then would immediately shut down. No display on screen. I'm hoping it's not the motherboard.
Thanks. It should work with only 4, but if u have 8 pin connector coming from your power suply i would connect the other one too and be done with it.
