are the jumper settings correct?

I upgraded my sister's computer for her thinking I was doing her a favor.  Anyway.. to make a really long story short... I live in Georgia and my sister lives in Boston.  I bought all the pieces (including this mobo I mentioned up above) and a new tower and put it all together.  Before I mailed it up to her I hooked it up to my monitor and my boston acoustic desktop speakers.  It worked beautiful... no problems.  I mailed it out to her and she hooked it all up and she has no sound.  I made sure she had it plugged into correct port in the back, and from what she told me she does.  I had her go into the sound settings and make sure nothing was muted and nothing was.  I even had her go into the device manager to see if there were any conflicts.. and there were no exclamation marks indicating any conflicts.
I thought at first that maybe it was disabled, but that can't be the case since it worked just fine when I hooked it up to my monitor and speakers.  Does anyone have any ideas???  She is calling me almost everyday to see if I found out anything and I feel bad, but at the same time she is driving me up the wall nagging me about it.  I need to fix it and it's going to  be difficult considering I am over 1000 miles away.  If I at least had some trouble shooting ideas, I might be able to walk her through it.  I would truly appreciate any help.

    1) make sure she has the speakers plugged into the right plug in the motherboard
2)make sure she has the power turned 'on' on the speakers

  • AthlonXP (2200+) + MSI K7T Turbo2 trouble

    Hi!, i have a huge problem that i can't solve!.  X(
I have a MSI motherboard (MSI K7T Turbo2), and have bought myself a new CPU. After looking at the newest  BIOS details on the MSI website i desided to buy an AthlonXP 2200+ (1.8GHZ - becomed supported with the latest BIOS update) but now i can't get it to work propebly.
I downloaded the latest BIOS and flashed it with the accurate flashtool that was included in the .exe file i d/l. and now to my problem:
My AthlonXP 2200+ works with the standard clockfrequenzy settings in the BIOS configuration but that configuration tells the computer that i only have a AthlonXP 1500+ (1.3GHZ) not 2200+, so then i went to  the MSI website again and looked at the "CPU support" table you had. there is says:
To get an AthlonXP 2200+ on a K7t Turbo2 motherboard to work, use these settings:
set the FSB("clock by slightly adjust")=133 and the Ratio(CPU clock ratio)=13.5 and it will work, here's my problem, i can't set the FSB to "133" in my bios, the MAX setting is "132" and i can't choose "13.5" as ratio, only "13", so i tryed using FSB=132 and Ratio=13, but then after my computer rebooted i was forced to "clear the cmos" to get the computer to start again.
so i must run the CPU as a 1500+ (1.35GHZ) using the standard settings in the frequenzy settings, and that realy sucks :(, the CPU cost me plenty of money and im a poor student with bad ecomomy and your BIOS details said that the CPU was supported ://// please help me!
This is what my computer outputs directly when booting up: (when the BIOS checks harddrives/cdroms/memory...)

I think you have to remove the jumper "J17" for FSB 133+. Consult you'r manual on where this jumper is located.

  • Are the K7T Turbo2 and MS-6330 V5 the same MoBo

    Please some one help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a motherboard and on the motherboard the text say MS-6330 V5 and all i can find on msi homepage is a K7T Turbo2 MS-6330 v5 so is my mobo a k7t turbo2 ???????
    i am lost............ ?(
i flashed my bios at my own risk with the newest bios for k7t turbo2 and it works well as hell so my thought is that my ms-6330 v5 really are a k7t turbo2 am i right ??

    Hmm, I think 'MS-6330 V5' is the same as 'MS-6330 v5'...  :D
So go on and buy your new cpu.

  • K7T Turbo2 MS-6330

I can't run amd xp2100 at 133 MHz with motherboard K7T Turbo2, but it works (not well) at 100 MHZ and the bios tells me that i have a AMD xp1500. I have another computer with the same motherboard but with amd xp2000 and it works well at 133 MHz. So I'm very confused !!!! a new bios version maybe? to solve this?

check cooler as this is most likley reason
is psu in one that works a better one, swap them over
use a lower vga card if a gf4 will help see if power is the issue

bios needs to be 3.5 to be safe as thats when 2200 support added not clear were 2100 fits in

  • AGP 4x not working k7t turbo2

I've tried everything to get this to work. I updated my BIOS, VIA 4in1 drivers, I've tried the latest Nvidia drivers but rolled them back due to incompatability with my Tnt2, but nothing works. I searched this forum and found a regedit solution, the values it wanted me to edit were already in 4x mode but it is still reported in 2x mode. SANDRA reports that my Motherboard doesnt support 4x, but it says on the MSI site that it supports 4x and in the BIOS it has an option to enable 4x (which is enabled). I've done everything i can think of to fix this, tried several video cards, all run at 2x. The only thing I can thnk of that is lacking is my Power supply because its 250 W but how could that force 2x mode?
    K7t Turbo2
AMD Duron 1200 100 mhz FSB
    895 Mb Sdram
    TNT2 m64
    250 W Power supply

I've done several reinstalls of windows and all have the same problem. Rivatuner says my agp bus only supports 1x/2x but is agp 2.0 which is 4x as well. Hope this is of some help.

  • K7T Turbo2: will Matrox Millennium P650 work on it?

I'm thinking of buyin a Matrox Millennium P650 graphics card for my old K7T Turbo2.  Any reason not to?
    Here's the specs:  http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/cadgis/products/pseries/p650.php
    Most notably, it says:
Card type: AGP 8x, compatible with all compliant AGP 4x and 8x systems (1.5 or 0.8 V)
I can get either this card or the p550 for $25, and I want a card that has DVI.  Let me know if there would likely be any problem, either with the 4x compatibility issue, voltage, or excessive power draw.  Right now I'm running a G450 DualHead, without any real problems other than slowness and DVI-lessness.
    thanks for any assistance..

Isn't Matrox very expensive, partly because they say they are for professional image editors?
That is, it isn't for gaming.
Wow, thanks for all the helpful replies, everyone...
Yes, this card isn't for modern gaming, but that's OK with me - my gaming is of a different breed - I'm a professional poker player, and poker software doesn't require bleeding-edge graphics capabilities.  But I want the card to drive two DVI monitors (current Dell 2405FPW at 1920x1200 plus future 1600x1200 monitor to sit beside it).
If there's another inexpensive option for a video card that will handle two DVI monitors well, let me know.  I'm just looking at the Matrox because I can get a pretty good deal on it.
Thanks again for all the help.  I'm glad I found this forum.

  • K7T Turbo2 Secondary IDE possibly broken?

I've just bought a K7T Turbo2 Motherboard, and all seems to work except the secondary IDE slot. Here's the rundown:
My system has two hard disks, and two cd/dvd type drives. The hard disks are jumpered as master/slave on one channel, and the cd/dvd as master/slave on the other channel. I can plug either cable into the primary IDE and the bios recognises whatever is on there (either the two hard disks, or the dvd/cd). Whatever I plug into the secondary IDE does not get recognised. This suggests to me that the cables are fine, and since the jumper arrangement worked fine with my last pc and remains unchanged, I'm pretty sure it can only be the IDE2 socket or something I'm not doing right in the BIOS. That said, both IDE channels are DEFINITELY set to ENABLED in the BIOS, and yet I cannot select the secondary master/slave devices to be anything other than 'none'.
I've read the manual cover to cover and am at a loss for what to do next. Please help.  ?(
    Richard.

    :D  :D  :D  :D  :D
All sorted now. My own stupid fault - the board was being short-circuited by bits of the case (whatever it's called where the board is mounted). Took them off and all is good.

  • K7T TURBO2 not detecting either HD (both WD)

    Here's my problem...
I start my computer and it will not load Windows because it does not detect a bootable drive.
My motherboard detects both CDROM drives but does not detect either hard drive.  I have the jumper settings on the HD's correct (Master - end of IDE cable, Slave - middle of IDE cable), plugged into IDE Slot 1 (using IDE cable).  I've tried the following:
Setting all available jumper settings (Master/Slave)
Using only 1 HD at a time set to Master (removed other HD off cable)
Remove IDE2 (attached to CDROM drives) cable... MB detected no drives(!)
Using a different IDE cable (in case other one was bad).
The BIOS displays the correct CPU speed, RAM and CDROM drives, but it will not detect either HD.  I am almost positive that I have everything setup correctly, I've successfully built my own system half a dozen times.  It just seems that there is a setting or jumper somewhere that I'm missing (I removed the J17 jumper).
Could the problem lie elsewhere and the result is what I'm seeing with no detection of my HD's?  It doesn't seem like my RAM would be the problem, as the system boots up fine, detects all attached RAM, but doesn't detect a bootable drive.
    Here's my system...
    MB: K7T TURBO2
    HD#1: WD Caviar AC310200 (10GB) UATA/66
    HD#2: WD Caviar WB300BB (30GB) UATA/100
    CDROM#1: Samsung 52x
    CDROM#2: TDK 48/24/48 CDR/W
    FLOPPY: Generic 1.44 3.5'''
CPU: Athlon XP 1500 (Good heatsink/fan)
    RAM: 256 PC133 (Generic)/128 PC133 (Crucial)/128 PC133 (Crucial) = 512 PC133 Total
    VIDEO: Hercules 3D Prophet 4000XT
SOUND: None (using built-in on MB)
    NIC: D-Link 10/100
    PSU: 400W COMPUSA Brand
    One last note...
I used all of this hardware (MINUS THE K7T MB) in a previous system and everything worked fine together.  My previous MB was a K7S5A and the reason I replaced it with the K7T TURBO2 is because I wanted a better board with more features.
I hope I've given enough details to my problem.  I appreciate any help given, thank you and if you have any questions for me, I'll be checking this post often so ask away!  THANKS AGAIN!!
    - Aaron

I'm very close to buying another board,  but the problem is, there are no other boards at my computer store that I can use.  If there were I'd try one of them in a heartbeat.
I guess I could buy another board online, but my job is dependant upon my computer working, I can't wait a week while a new motherboard is shipped to me.
I know the problem is not with my board because this is the second K7T I've tried and both gave me the same error.  The problem must be with a setting/jumper/other hardware component.
I've tried every Jumper combination possible, still no detection.
The exact error when my BIOS attempts to find a bootable drive (a HD to load Windows) is:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

  • K7t Turbo2..Do I have a bad one?

Am new to the forums and MSI, but have been building and repairing 'puters for a few. Have a new K7T Turbo2 MS 6330 bios v 3.4 My question is: Is this a bad MBO, or is it in need of a bios update or something?
THE PROBLEM: Incomplete POST, stalling with no detection of a primary master hard drive (master slave is not connected at this time). Statement at stall is hard drive failure.
    SYSTEM BUILD: K7T Turbo2 Board 6330 Bios v. 3.4, AMD Athlon 900 mHz, (3) 256K Mwave memory, 430W Antec TruePower ATX12V True 430, 40GB IBM ATA 100 7200RPM or 8GB Seagate ATA 33, 3dLabs 4x AGP 32MB VX1 Oxygen, Smartlink 10/100 NIC, onboard audio, Creative Labs 4X CDR
    NEC Zip100, Mitusmi Floppy
DIAGNOSTICS: Tested the HD and IDE 80 pin connector in another system. They were OK. Tried an old Seagate 8 GB ATA33 with no alteration in MBO response. IDE cable is connected to the MBO blue connector with the blue primary IDE connector. The first or master connector at the other end is attached to the HD. Tried HDD jumpered as a master and cable select with no alteration in response. The secondary IDE devices (CDR and Zip100) do detect in the POST. Tried disconnecting the secondary devices from power and the MBO- no alteration in response at POST. I'M STUCK
Any thoughts or suggestions on this mess?
    Sharon

HI It seems like you have pretty much covered all the bases. One other suggestion, Did you try to reset ESCD in bios? You seem to know pretty much what you are talking about. I have had both my TURBO2s for about a year now and both perfornm excellent but I am using 3.2 and 3.0 bios Escd resets the bit string and reconfigs the rig. Its located right under the Pnp line in bios just enable save and exit and try to reboot If it works, you will get a success on the bottom of the 2nd or third boot page. My older build has a WD drive going bad and once in a while I get this same no detect. When it does happen I just shut down by P/s switch.and turn it back on. You might also want to try a new cable as it don't take much for a poor connection .I hope this helps and if it don't rma the board as I don't think  you left much out could be a bios chip going bad or something about 3.4 as that was for support of a 160gb drive and may be causing you some grief. Best of Luck,BIGDADDY51 CT USA edit: What are you getting for an led message when the stall occurs ? This may help with your diagnosis.

  • K7T Turbo2 - how do I tell BIOS to boot from USB?

I have an old K7T Turbo2 system, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.  I guess that's my first question - am I going to run into any nasty problems running W7 on this board, other than RAM limitations?  I have a version of "Tiny7" (which installs from CD-ROM) installed already and it seems fine, but I'd rather run a fuller non-pirated OS, and that means installing from a DVD/iso.  I don't have a DVD drive installed and it would be a bit of a pain to acquire one, so I'm hoping to boot from USB to winstall W7.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card installed in the system, which seems to work fine.  I've set the BIOS to boot from USB-FDD (but I've also tried USB-CDROM and USB-ZIP).  I have BIOS 3.6.  I've tried booting from the PCI USB2.0 hub (will that ever work or does the BIOS not recognize it?) and from the regular USB1 port on the mobo (but my USB flash drive is USB2).
Is there something else I need to do in the BIOS to get this to work?  Will it never work no matter what I do?
I read somewhere about a BIOS setting to "enable legacy USB support" but can't see anything like that in my BIOS settings.
    Any suggestions?  (thanks in advance)

If there is no option to boot from USB-HDD then it may never work.
Long shot I know, but what if you connect your USB drive, then power on your system, and press F11 when the logo/POST screen appears, does the drive show in the Boot Menu that appears?

Really? DVD drives are very common, and cheap as chips! You can pick up a brand new DVD writer, for the price of a (good) DVD movie.

  • K7T Turbo2 and new Athlon 1700

    Hello!
I have a K7T Turbo 2 motherboard with an AMD Duron 1200, which ran fine. I recently purchased AN AMD Athlon 1700+ so that I could take advantage of the 133 FSB on the board rather than the 100 FSB of the Duron.
The first thin I did was flash the Bios to version 3.4. I then removed the J17 jumper on the board to run at 133fsb. When I first restarted the computer, everything seemed to be fine. Then I started to receive an error message that stated “Pagefault_in_nonpaged_area” and had to reset. Sometimes I received the message after a full boot and others while booting and became more frequent. At one point I needed to reset the power supply because the reset was not working and I then received a boot error that told me that system files are missing or corrupt. I have had this problem before and had to reformat after a power failure reset my system.
Next I tried to reformat and reinstall Windows XP Pro and started having problems there. I am ready to start over and would like to ask for some advice or see if there is any known issues or conflicts with my setup. I also have Powerquest Drive Image and have an image from about a month ago. Do you think that it would be feasible to use it?
I am running an AMD Athlon 1700+ on a K7T Turbo2 with 768mbs Kingston PC133 Ram, 2 Maxtor 40g hard drives, 300 watt Allied PSU, Radeon 7200 32mbs Graphics card, 56k modem, Satellite internet.
    Thank you,
    Hank

I finnaly got the Athlon 1700 to work. It seems that my Cd Rom drive lens was dirty and I had the "crap in, crap out" syndrome. It was not the power supply nor the Ram, it was faukty software that was read by a CD Rom that I have not cleaned in 3 years...lol.....a recommendation, clean your components ofter.
I am yet to see the final outcome, but so far no crashes. I set up a dual boot, Win 98 and XP Pro machine now and seems to run great thus far.
I apprecate all of your help and input in this matter!
    Hank
