K7t turbo2 mobo

good morning,  i am trying to identify what version this mobo i have here really is.....it is a model 6330 and also it is a k7t turbo2, but i do not want to fit it if it will not support my cpu...if it is a version 5 mobo then its ok, but how do i know what version it is ????       help needed

I'm not completely sure, but I have a faint memory of PCB 5 of K7T being the turbo2 version. When in doubt I look at the name of the downloadable manual, which of course agrees with me :
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/manual/mnu/spt_mnu_detail.php?UID=24&kind=1
If your Athlon processor is listed as OK in the earlier link, and in good health, just take mobo out and seat it. Which is it? FSB can't exceed 133(266)MHz.
Please note that you have to clean off old, and add new, thermal paste. Please also note, that a processor upgrade might demand a better heat-sink+processor fan. I suppose you have PC2100 memory, and a good enough power supply unit, PSU.
Addiction: As you are online: Don't forget to clear CMOS when changing processors!

  • K7T Turbo2 MOBO not supporting processor

    Hey all,
Just bought a bunch of new hardware here:
    Athlon XP 2100+
    MSI K7T Turbo2 MOBO
(plus other stuff that doesn't matter right now...)
My problem is, the BIOS is only reading the processor as being a 1500+ when it boots.  The BIOS is the most recent version, everything's up to date, I can't figure out what's going on...   ?(
Also, on top of that, I have no sound from the MOBO.  It's enabled in the BIOS (onboard sound), and I've attempted to install the VIA AC97 Drivers multiple times, but everytime I try it says, "VIA AC97 PCI Sound is not enabled in the BIOS - please enable it and run the installation again."  But like I said, it's already enabled.
Anyone have ANY ideas as to what's goin on?  Hopefully the MOBO isn't pooched and there's something we can do about this...
    Thanks,
    Chad

But it's not even the jumper that's causing the problem - I upped the FSB to 132 MHz (the highest it would allow with J17 still on), and left the multiplier at default (whatever that may be), and the processor is now being recognized as an Athlon XP 2100+.  However, when I change the multiplier to 13, which should be the correct setting for a 2100+, the computer refuses to boot, whether the jumper's on or off.  In fact, if I set the multiplier to ANY number, the computer refuses to boot.  It's only when I leave it on Default that it will boot.
Also, after I removed the jumper and did the above fix, my sound started working...  but only for a few minutes.  Then the computer crashed and it refuses to work again.
    Any other suggestions?
    Chad

  • Does K7T Turbo2 mobo support 48-bit LBA

In the "sticky" troubleshooting post theres a link to determine what harddisks your motherboard support.
    The link is:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/hdd_support/hdd/spt_hdd_list.php?CHIP=Archives&ID=4
But it is a dead link.  Is there a newer link?  I tried searching the MSI web site and can't find the information I need.
I have an K7T Turbo2 (bios v3.6) motherboard and use Windows XP (SP1a and all updates) and would like to install a 200 GB WD hard drive.  Does this motherboard support 48-bit LBA for HDDs over 137 GB in size.
    MUCH THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Since I could not find any good awnser here I e-mailed MSI support and got this awnser.
    107-041214025RE: Harddrive limitations on MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard ?
Question: Does the K7T Turbo2 motherboard have 48Bit harddrive adressing in
    BIOS ???
    Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for contacting MSI Technical Support.
This board supports 48-bit LBA. It can support up to 160G or higher HDD.  Please refer to this link for more information about your issue: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q303013 then try again.  And you are recommended to use WinXP SP1 or Win2000 SP4.
Please feel free to let us know if you still have any further issues or inquiries.
    Best regards,
    MSI Technical Support
This means, that the motherboard supports all drives of any size thats out there, and you other people talking about limitations are wrong, as long as the bios has 48bit LBA support the only limitation is by the operatingsystem but not by the hardware.
Reason im posting this is for others to find it so they dont have to ask the MSI support.

  • K7T Turbo2 Post problem

Hey all, first time here. I am trying to fix my son's computer for Christmas. His old mobo went dead and I picked up a K7T Turbo2 at the local shop. Details below:
    K7T Turbo2 mobo - Award BIOS v6.00PG (W6330VMS v3.7)
    AMD Athlon 1.4
    2 x PC100 128MB ram
AGP GeForce4 MX (tried Rage 128
    WD 40GB hdd
    Standard 52x CD
    Macron PSU 300W
When booting the first few times, it acts like it wants to boot, gets through post and tries to access the hdd - but never gets to any MS booting screen (XP loaded on hdd) - screen just goes black. I turn it off and back on and it gets to the point where it does the HDD check and freezes. The diagnostic LED stops on #1 red and the rest green (manual says boot attempt, but it hasn't even done a hdd check yet). I take it down and back up again several times. Sometimes the LEDs stop on #2 red and the rest green (manual says floopy init).
I took the board back to the shop and got another with the same results. I have tried different AMD 1.4 (from a known working PC), different PC100 128MB sticks and PC133 256MB sticks. I've tried booting with only minimal parts attached (no hdd or cd) with the same results. The only thing I can think of is the PSU is not strong enough. I've tried plugging in the little 12V piece and not using it with the same results. HELP!!!!  Tomorrow is Christmas and my son is going to be very disappointed. TIA!
    AirGator

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I foud the problem though. It was a faulty CPU. I know that I had swapped it out with my working AMD 1.4, but for some reason, this one would die once any load was put on it. I took my wife's 1.4 out and the mobo booted.
I just went out to ZipZoomFly (from Pricewatch) and bought two new AMD Athlon XP 1800+'s for $48 each. Hopefully they'll come in quickly and I can get my son's PC back to him before the end of his Christmas break. Thanks again all!

  • K7T Turbo2 won't boot

ok, here goes  I have a MS-6330 K7T Turbo2 mobo, 256m RAM 20G Western Dig HDD NVidia GEForceMX420 64mg vid card AMD Duron 900Mhz proc.  I started and it won't post, fans spin but nothing else.  Cleared CMOS and it'll boot, but not RE-boot without clearing the CMOS again.  I've checked the mobo to make sure it not grounding out.  tried taking everything else off the mobo and it still won't post.  I've taken the battery out for 10 mins, and checked it..shows good on Multimeter. I tried flashing the Bios to v3.6..no change, wouldn't post so, now I'm back to the original v3.3 because if I want to USE my computer, I first have to clear the CMOS, load defaults and then it'll boot up fine.  if I've missed something PLEASE fill me in...this thing has got me COMPLETLEY stumped.  If it's the motherboard I'll just buy another one rather than go through the hassle of trying to prove it's still under warranty.  Help me out fellas!!  PLEASE!! ?(

wow....... this is a mirror image of what happened to me almost....  to put it blunty... sounds like mobo is dying...  or the cpu is dying.... but ....
did u just build this computer or did this just start up recently???  the mobo has some serious issue of POSTing when it's first installed and i have absolutely no idea why..
also...   check your hsf on your cpu and c if it's it mounted properly.  another thing.. r u changing anything in the bios???
    Ed.
P.S.  yes.. don't bother to rma. it'll take u about a month and a half to 2 months rma'ing..  i currently hate msi for how they handle my rma...

Did a clean reinstall of Win2k because I felt there had been too many hardware changes since the original installation. Evidently, while I was trying to get a XP 2600+ 333 recognized as a 2600+ (I learned in the BIOS forum that this wasn't possible) the onboard sound became enabled in BIOS.
I did the reinstall without the sound card. I then attempted to add it, but of course I had a conflict between the Audigy card and the AC97 onboard. After I figured out that the onboard sound was enabled, I disabled it in BIOS. I went to safe mode and removed all hardware related to sound and all software related to Creative. I shut down again- removed the audigy card - restarted. Shut down again, inserted the audigy card in a different slot (also tried original slot). Windows doesn't recognize it. It does see a "multimedia audio controller" that I cannot find a driver for. If I cancel out of that driver installation and try to install the Creative software it advises that no sound blaster card is present.
Should I start all over again? If I do, should I install win2k with the sound card installed?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
PS - system was working fine before I attempted the re-install but was sluggish which I felt was due to all the hardware changes (mobo, graphics card, sound card, hd) done at various times, not to mention the software installs and uninstalls.

This is the advice I rcvd from Creative technical support. It worked. Sound card is properly and cleanly installed. I also disabled the onchip sound in BIOS advanced chipset in addition to disabling the onboard audio in BIOS Integrated peripherals.
Again, this is for an audigy sound card and Win2k:
please try out the following cleansweep and
re-installation procedure instead, to see if it works:-
    1.  Enable the WINDOWS 2000 STARTUP MENU by rebooting your computer and
tapping F8 once every second OR holding the SHIFT key while rebooting.
    2.  When the menu is displayed, select SAFE MODE and press ENTER.
    3.  Once in SAFE MODE, insert the sound card's installation CD and exit
    out of the installer
    4.  Click START / RUN.
    5.  Type "X:\AUDIO\DRIVERS\CTZAPXX.EXE into the OPEN field (replace X
with the applicable CD-ROM drive letter).
    6.  Click OK.
    7.  When the CREATIVE DRIVER UPDATE UTILITY opens, select DRIVER
    UNINSTALLATION under UPDATE OPTION.
    8.  If two out of the three options are disabled or grayed out under
DRIVER TYPE, click OK.  Otherwise, select WDM.   You will then be
prompted to reboot, but please do not do so.
    9.  Click START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL / ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    10.  Remove all Creative SB Audigy 2 programs.
    11.  Close all windows, and reboot the computer normally (ENTER NORMAL
    MODE).
    12.  The Audigy 2 will be detected by Windows.  Cancel the ADD NEW
    HARDWARE WIZARD when able.
In order to install your soundcard properly, I recommend you to ensure
the following for the audio installation and test:
    - The card is the only card installed other than the Graphics card.
    - The card is at least one empty slot away from the Graphics card.
    - Place the soundcard away from all the others.
    - That the card is seated properly in the PCI slot.
    - Move the PC's internal wires away from the soundcard.
    - That the on-board sound on your motherboard is disabled through the
    BIOS.
    - That the on-board gameport is disabled through the BIOS.
    - That your motherboard BIOS is up-to-date.
    - That the operating system is up-to-date with the latest service packs
    and patches.
    - That there are no background applications open when you attempt the
    solution.
    - That the anti-virus program is disabled.
    - That if you are over-clocking your system, return all options to their
    recommended settings.
    - That you access the PC with administrator rights.
    13.  Perform an installation via the CTRUN program on the CD
(X:\CTRUN\CTRUN.EXE where X is the drive letter of your CD drive that
    has the installation CD).
[note:RE: Item 13 - there was a ctrunx directory with ctrunx.exe and start.exe in it. The ctrunx.exe wouldn't execute, but the start.exe did the job]
    14.  Reboot if prompted.
    15.  Please obtain the latest updates for your Audigy 2 card from our
    website:- http://us.creative.com//support/downloads/
Under the option 'Select your product': Select 'Sound Blaster'->'24-bit
    Advanced HD'->'Sound Blaster Audigy 2'.
Under the option 'Select your operating system': Select 'Windows 2000'.
Click on the 'Go' button just below the Windows selection.
In the next page, click on 'EAX 4.0 ADVANCED HD Driver Update for
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2/Audigy 2 ZS' and the download should
    begin.
    16.  Once you are prompted to OPEN FROM CURRENT LOCATION or SAVE TO
DISK, select SAVE TO DISK and download the update to MY DESKTOP.
    17.  When the file has completed the phase of being transferred to your
computer, locate the file on your desktop and double click the file.

  • K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330) Booting problems

Last night, I installed an Athlon XP 1700+ on my K7T Turbo2 mobo. I can not boot into Windows now. Windows XP will hang on loading up mup.sys, and 98 resets at an indeterminate time. I cannot install Windows 98 or XP either, as both hang on the setup (Before I can even access recovery mode for XP). I've swapped out all my PCI devices, disabled nearly everything in the BIOS, etc... nothing good. Heres what I've got.
    Athlon XP 1700+
    K7T Turbo2 Mobo
    ATI Radeon 9000 128mb
ATI Radeon 7200 32mb (Secondary Display)
    Creative Labs Soundblaster (Live!)
1280 Megs of PC133 RAM (PNY)
    Linksys 10/100 PCI Ethernet Card
    Maxtor 60GB HD 7200
    Maxtor 12GB HD 7200
    Seagate 10GB HD 5400
    Buslink 52x24x52 CDRW
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Do I need to set my FSB to 133 so I can use the 1700? I have updated my BIOS to the latest version. How would I increase the FSB?

    Welcome
Shutdown and remove jumper J17 (see manual - jumper near ram slots). If no boot, clear CMOS and try again. Be sure to use Fail Safe Defaults for install.
You've got a really heavy load, and hope your PSU is up to it. Do you have at least 200-220 combined watts on +3 and +5 circuits of PSU (see PSU label or maker's site).

  • K7T Turbo2 won't power up

I just recently purchased a K7T Turbo2 mobo. I am replacing an Abit KT7A  which all of a sudden stopped being able to read data of off any of my hard drives.
I installed the case connectors as shown in the owners
manuel, but can not now get it to power up. The owners manuel does not specify on the speaker ,reset  switch, or the power switch, which pin is positive. Can anyone confirm which way the connectors go? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

hi, i have that board and i have mine with the printed side of the connector all facing up,towards the cpu, both rows but that might not be your problem, double check ram and video, make sure their  seated good,it takes a very hard push to get them fully inserted, good luck and let us know how you come out :P

  • K7t turbo2 post beep codes

    hi:
i bought a k7t turbo2 mobo and 1800 athlon cpu (brand new), swapped a stick of used 512mb pc133 working memory from another pc and got the machine up into bios.  i stopped work for the evening came back the next day when i was going to reformat a drive and install an os.  before i got to that i scavenged up another stick of older memory to add in, added it, then booted, but no post.  reseated everything--same.  pulled the board and trimmed it down to the basics...mobo, cpu, memory, video.  same.  swapped a working video card.  same.  thinking it was a bad stick of memory---it was older---i purchased another stick new.  just put it in.  different result now though.  now, i get a one second beep on, then off for a second, then on ,then off.  continues repetively on-off.  reset the cmos.  pulled the battery.  no changes from this on-off beep.  not *exactly* sure what the problem is.   system seemed to be fine until i swapped the add'l stick of memory in.  i am/was very careful in all my tech work but could i have fried the motherboard with something innocuous as this?  or did i get a bad stick of brand new (kingston) memory?   i am beginning to feel like throwing good money after bad trying to debug this prob.  any idea of what this one second on, one second off beep means?  or how best to continue debugging without going out purchasing additional hardware just to test a theory?
thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
I think that it should be no problem to run Linux with a Turbo2. I think I would wait a few weeks until 9.2 is freely available, btw
You will probably find more information at:

  • K7T Turbo2 - how do I tell BIOS to boot from USB?

I have an old K7T Turbo2 system, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.  I guess that's my first question - am I going to run into any nasty problems running W7 on this board, other than RAM limitations?  I have a version of "Tiny7" (which installs from CD-ROM) installed already and it seems fine, but I'd rather run a fuller non-pirated OS, and that means installing from a DVD/iso.  I don't have a DVD drive installed and it would be a bit of a pain to acquire one, so I'm hoping to boot from USB to winstall W7.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card installed in the system, which seems to work fine.  I've set the BIOS to boot from USB-FDD (but I've also tried USB-CDROM and USB-ZIP).  I have BIOS 3.6.  I've tried booting from the PCI USB2.0 hub (will that ever work or does the BIOS not recognize it?) and from the regular USB1 port on the mobo (but my USB flash drive is USB2).
Is there something else I need to do in the BIOS to get this to work?  Will it never work no matter what I do?
I read somewhere about a BIOS setting to "enable legacy USB support" but can't see anything like that in my BIOS settings.
    Any suggestions?  (thanks in advance)

If there is no option to boot from USB-HDD then it may never work.
Long shot I know, but what if you connect your USB drive, then power on your system, and press F11 when the logo/POST screen appears, does the drive show in the Boot Menu that appears?

I don't have a DVD drive installed and it would be a bit of a pain to acquire one
Really? DVD drives are very common, and cheap as chips! You can pick up a brand new DVD writer, for the price of a (good) DVD movie.

  • K7T Turbo2 No Bootup

i just bought the MSI K7T Turbo2 MS-6330 v5. i'm using the AMD 2000+. i was using a 350w power supply. didnt boot up. i thought it was the extra 4 pin power supply thing (that p4's have) which was the problem. i went out and bought a 400w power supply with the extra 4 pins. still didnt work. i then wondered if it was my cpu, so i tried a working AMD Tbird 1.33ghz from a different machine. still no luck. The D-Bracket gives me 4 red leds on both occassions. i know its not my cpu. i know its not my power supply. i also changed the video card from a gf2 gts to an ati 8500. no luck there. i can never get to POST. nothing ever comes on screen. a friend with same board had similar problems not getting into POST and fixed it by setting FSB from 133 to 100. he was using a Duron 950 though. i tried this method, still no luck. i've tried just about everything i know, and cant get it to work. any other tips? should i contact msi and send this board back?

already did so Bas. i've built a few computers in my time, have run into many problems, but never anything like this. when i first ran into the problem, i read on the troubleshooting first, when that didnt work, i tried switching the various cpus/psu/gpu/memory. still didnt work. then i started from the beginning, broke out the mobo manual, and did it step by step. still no luck. i'm kinda pissed cuz i bought a new psu ($67, although i wouldve needed it eventually), sort-of new gpu ($40 ati radeon 8500), new cpu ($104 AMD 2000+ because i thought my previous AMD 2000+ was fried), memory ($56 PC133 PNY 512MB). i've tested the mobo with 2 cpu's (the tbird 1.33ghz and amd 2000+, am waiting for my new amd 2000+ to come in), 3 gpu's (radeon 8500, gf2 gts, tnt2 ultra, all agp), different arrangement of memory (512mb pny + 512mb kingston value ram dimm slot 0+1 and vice versa, 512mb pny alone dimm slot 0, 512mb kingston alone dimm slot 0), and with various psu's (350w antec, 250w generic, 400w powmax w/the extra 4pin adapter that mobo optionally requires). still no luck. after all this, i'm thinking i may have ordered a bad mobo, i dunno though. please help  :D
