K7t turbo2 post beep codes

i bought a k7t turbo2 mobo and 1800 athlon cpu (brand new), swapped a stick of used 512mb pc133 working memory from another pc and got the machine up into bios. i stopped work for the evening came back the next day when i was going to reformat a drive and install an os. before i got to that i scavenged up another stick of older memory to add in, added it, then booted, but no post. reseated everything--same. pulled the board and trimmed it down to the basics...mobo, cpu, memory, video. same. swapped a working video card. same. thinking it was a bad stick of memory---it was older---i purchased another stick new. just put it in. different result now though. now, i get a one second beep on, then off for a second, then on ,then off. continues repetively on-off. reset the cmos. pulled the battery. no changes from this on-off beep. not *exactly* sure what the problem is. system seemed to be fine until i swapped the add'l stick of memory in. i am/was very careful in all my tech work but could i have fried the motherboard with something innocuous as this? or did i get a bad stick of brand new (kingston) memory? i am beginning to feel like throwing good money after bad trying to debug this prob. any idea of what this one second on, one second off beep means? or how best to continue debugging without going out purchasing additional hardware just to test a theory?

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I foud the problem though. It was a faulty CPU. I know that I had swapped it out with my working AMD 1.4, but for some reason, this one would die once any load was put on it. I took my wife's 1.4 out and the mobo booted.
I just went out to ZipZoomFly (from Pricewatch) and bought two new AMD Athlon XP 1800+'s for $48 each. Hopefully they'll come in quickly and I can get my son's PC back to him before the end of his Christmas break. Thanks again all!

K7T Turbo2 Post problem

Hey all, first time here. I am trying to fix my son's computer for Christmas. His old mobo went dead and I picked up a K7T Turbo2 at the local shop. Details below:
K7T Turbo2 mobo - Award BIOS v6.00PG (W6330VMS v3.7)
AMD Athlon 1.4
2 x PC100 128MB ram
AGP GeForce4 MX (tried Rage 128
WD 40GB hdd
Standard 52x CD
Macron PSU 300W
When booting the first few times, it acts like it wants to boot, gets through post and tries to access the hdd - but never gets to any MS booting screen (XP loaded on hdd) - screen just goes black. I turn it off and back on and it gets to the point where it does the HDD check and freezes. The diagnostic LED stops on #1 red and the rest green (manual says boot attempt, but it hasn't even done a hdd check yet). I take it down and back up again several times. Sometimes the LEDs stop on #2 red and the rest green (manual says floopy init).
I took the board back to the shop and got another with the same results. I have tried different AMD 1.4 (from a known working PC), different PC100 128MB sticks and PC133 256MB sticks. I've tried booting with only minimal parts attached (no hdd or cd) with the same results. The only thing I can think of is the PSU is not strong enough. I've tried plugging in the little 12V piece and not using it with the same results. HELP!!!! Tomorrow is Christmas and my son is going to be very disappointed. TIA!

K8N Neo2 Mainboard. POST Beep codes...

I have a MSI K8N Neo2 systemboard that just quit booting. At first, other then power being generated, nothing would happen (no beeps, no screen). I replaced the power supply with another 550W power supply and now, it tries to do a POST and the monitor power light goes from amber to green as if it's getting a video signal from the system but all I get are continous steady audilble beeps. I've tried clearing the bios by removing the battery and switching the clear cmos jumper to position 2-3, waited 15 minutes and put it back to 1-2, re-inserted the battery and still no go. The system contains 2 pieces of dual channel PC-3200, 512 Mb DDRam and I have them both in the green slots. I've unplugged everything but the k.b., mouse, video and hardrive with no change. Any ideas?

The original problem ended-up being an irregular power supply. Although it was powering up, it must have not been providing adequate +12/-5 voltage. Once I replaced the power supply, that's when the beeping errors started occurring. Now for the good part (a bit embarrassing), I have an ATI AGP video card which requires a power lead and guess what I forgot the plug-in when I replaced the power supply? I know, knuckle-head move. At least I realized it before I decided to trash the whole thing! Everything is working like new...again.

K9N NEO V3 POST Beep Issue

Hello, and thanks in advance for taking the time to give this a look. (TL;DR below)
As stated in the topic title, I’ve been having issues with my PC involving POST beep codes.
Couple days ago, PC stopped displaying on monitor. A few on/off’s later, I realized the PC was beeping oddly. I looked up POST codes online, but I’m not entirely sure which set to use. I have no display to check for my motherboard BIOS and version, so I am at the moment using what is written on the actual mobo; AMI BIOS. I can hear a single beep, followed by about 8 shorter beeps. There is a noticeable difference between the first and the rest. I have already run the computer without the optical drive, harddrive, and graphics card and still found the same problem. With just the mobo and CPU, I hear nothing, but that’s because I assume my mobo will not POST without RAM, so I tried a single stick new replacement to test with and I am still getting the same POST beeps as before. I have also tried reseating my graphics card and the small round cell found on my mobo. Is there anything that I’ve missed? Or is there something else at the root of the problem.
TL;DR: My computer will not display on a monitor, and I am getting the beeps associated with POST problems. Have tried running without essential hardware and separate memory stick to no success. Unsure of how to proceed.

I'm looking at this Corsair 750W PSU, but the only thing I'm wondering about is lack of a P4 MB connector. I'm not entirely sure what it's used for? I'm pretty green when it comes to installing and hooking up PSUs, so I've been comparing the connectors just to make sure I don't buy a product that won't hook up to my system. Also, is there a default size? Like motherboards come with the ATX or micro-ATX form. I'd hate to buy it and find out that it won't fit in my case

I noticed a lot of the PSU have multiple 18A / 12 V rails as opposed to a single 12V rail with higher amps. Are those maximum values? Or will it increase as you decrease the number of 12V rails being used. Sorry for the questions, but I figure I might as well ask now while I can

K9A2 Beep Codes ON POST

I just purchased and installed the K9A2 MB with an
AMD AthlonXP 4200+ Duo Core
2 gig matched set of Corsair Ram.
Nvidia GEForce 8500 GT 512MB Video Card
500Gig IDE WD Hard drive.
When the computer POSTS, I get a beep code 1short 1long 2short. Everything seems to be running okay and the system boots without any issues.....
My question...? Why is it throwing up the beep code errors and what do they mean..?

The first short beep probably means your boot block and system block are ok. The second series of beeps could be indicating an issue with your video card...

Well subject line tells most of the story:
P67A-GD55 boot stops at POST 99 in lower right of display and with 1-long+2short beep code.
I've found a note somewhere on these forums that 99 code means Super IO initialization, though I'm not sure if this is the checkpoint before or after that process.
I've found generic information that suggests 1long+2short beep code indicates a video card failure.
I'm surprised that the manual for the MB doesn't list these codes, and that they weren't listed in the troubleshooting FAQ on the MSI site. So I still wonder if it may mean something else.
I've disconnected all the SATA connections, and removed all pci cards except for the video card. Guess I'll try disconnecting the front-panel usb connectors too in a moment, but I'm running out of ideas.
With a EVGA GT520 video card, I get these symptoms regardless of which pcie slot I put the card in.
With a Galaxy 8400GS the beep code is the same but no output is ever visible on the display. It seems possible that I just need an adapter to use the other connector on this card to see the output though.
With a EVGA 7800GT the symptoms are the same as with the EVGA GT520
If I try removing the memory sticks I get 3-long beeps followed by system shutting itself down.

Run of the mil keyboard. (has a logo with a circle containing a crescent containing a D). Suppose I could switch to a usb keyboard around here somewhere.
Disconnected the logitec usb mouse that I had connected to the back panel with no change in symptoms.
Toughpower-650 power supply (had been in use on a system that was running an athlon x64 and the GT7800GT graphics card.
2 sticks PNY DDR3 PC3-10666 4G ("compatible with 1333MHz") 1 stick in each blue slot.
No idea how to tell you the UFEI/BIOS version. The manual says its "CLiCK BiOS" but since I've never seen anything but 98,99 and _ displayed by the BIOS I really don't know.
Removing the case front panel USB connectors didn't change symptoms.
Resetting the bios by the button at the back panel connectors (near keyboard connector) didn't change anything. (although it did not cause "system will boot automatically" as a line in the manual might suggest.
Tried using the JBAT connector to clear the bios as well and likewise no change in symptoms.
There are no peripherals connected other than case power switch, power LED and HDD LED at this point. Somehow I don't expect much change from disconnecting LED's. Case switch seems to be behaving normally in that it causes the boot cycle to start, and if pressed while the "99" is sitting there in corner of screen it causes machine to shut down.
No SATA devices are connected to it since they won't really be useful untill can at least get to the BIOS. The sata cables that would go to those devices are still connected to the MB.

MSI P67A-GD65 Not Posting, unsure of beep code meaning

Just swapped out my old K9A platinum for a P67A-GD65 and I can't seem to get it to post. I'm getting a beep code of five beeps (long ones maybe? google indicates "process error") but I'm not sure what that means. Pulled the video card, tried my two sticks of ram in slot 1 one at a time, disconnected every device but still getting the same code. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
Edit: Tried clearing the CMOS as well but no luck

It seems I'm not the only one having weird issues with this board. I have the exact same board, v1.8 BIOS and Gskill F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD memory.
If I enable the XMP profile for this memory, this system will not post. It does not matter if I raise the DRAM voltage and I/O (memory controller) voltage to their acceptable limits, it does not matter if I manually enter in the timings of the memory specified on the box. XMP = no post.
So after disabling XMP I kept the memory at 1600mhz, which worked fine. I decided to try 1866mhz and a little more voltage. This seemed to work fine...for awhile. This morning my system would not post. I had to clear the CMOS (not use the jumper but literally remove the battery). Ever since then my system will BSOD after a few minutes on startup unless I manually enter in my memory timings (I tried two sticks from different vendors).
I know I don't have bad memory, and the fact is that this board will not post with vendor specified settings.
All I can suggest is to pull the CMOS battery and try one stick of memory.

K7T Turbo2 wont post with a Duron

The system used to run a 1.2 Duron perfectly. I then upgraded to a XP2400+ and flashed the BIOS to the latest version. Now when i try to run it with the 1.2 Duron againt it will not POST. I replaced the duron with a brand new 1.3GHz and still no POST. I put my 2400XP+ back in and the system worked perfectly. I have tried clearing CMOS and limiting the FSB to 100MHz and still no POST with the Durons. I am all out of ideas, i have replaced every component i can think of (Video card, PSU, RAM) and no luck.
Someone please help me!

First, you're lucky to get the XP and GF4 to run with such a low rated PSU (and this may lead to problems w/that config).
You did replace the J17 jumper for 100 FSB?
LED readings (see Manual)upon re-installing Duron (all red)?
Did you try clearing CMOS before re-installing Duron?

Parts are all brand new. Fairly new MSI 760GM-E51 FX board that booted fine. Installed ESXi 5.0 on it. It complained about the processor (AMD FX 8120 3.1Ghz AM3+). Seeing that the box states "Supports AM3+ CPU with new BIOS" I downloaded the 3.3 version of the BIOS from the website onto a USB drive. In BIOS loaded the new BIOS and rebooted when it was done. It gave a check sum error. Back to BIOS, altered some settings that seemed benign, rebooted. Now there are beep codes "4 short beeps....pause....2 long". They cycle. No display.
Read some page about reset to factory default through a jumper. No good.
Tried to load BIOS from flash by booting while pressing CTRL-HOME. Nothing seems to happen other than the same beeps.

CPU is not overclocked. Have removed just about everything from board except, keyboard, ram, cpu, monitor. (no drives)

I was the one that built the system for redboy. I've got years of experience building systems for myself and as a living.
Here's some background on the system. All parts, except the CD Drive were ordered from Newegg. The machine was working fine under bios version 3.1, it booted into ESXi without a problem, except for an uninformative CPU Alert in the vSphere client under the Health Status section in the Configuration tab. I remembered that the CPU had a warning that the motherboards bios might require an update to work properly with the CPU. We ran the update and when it rebooted it threw up a checksum error. We went in to the bios and didn't change anything just saved the configuration as it was and then hit save. Rebooted and the machine booted up fine into ESXi. The CPU Alert was still there. We rebooted and went back into bios. I looked over the settings to see if there was any new settings that might need to be changed. I didn't find anything but I did make some changes. Nothing major, just disabled all the devices that ESXi couldn't see, or we wouldn't end up using, like the audio card, Serial, and Parallel ports. Saved the settings and rebooted, and that's when it refused to come back up. Not sure if that helps any, but I'd rather give more information than you need than too little.

I bought it used.I was going to instal 2400 xp other than CPU and PS fan, nothing happened(four red diodes)Then I bought 1000mhz athlon-same story ,exept when I close J17 i have 1,4 red and 2,3 green.I tried to put another ps,cleared CMOS nothing.HELP!!

Ok now your mobo has a jumper I think it is below the RAM which is yellow colour if I am not mistaken. Remove that jumper and check if the system boots.

K7T Turbo2 Will Not Boot

I just purchased a K7T Turbo2 w/ an Athlon 1Ghz CPU for a client. The system will not POST. I just get a Red-Green-Green-Red LED Readout.
According to the manual, this means that the processor is not initializing.
I have tried different RAM, a different Video Card, taken the board out of the case, and everything else I can think of.
I don't have another processor to test with, so before I borrow one, I was wondering if it would be the processor, or if it would be the MB.

I had the same problem with a KT3 Ultra2. I took it back, got another, and SAME THING! This is whats happenin'.
One power supply would not turn anything on, plain and simple. The other power supply I had would power the board, but the power would come on after flipping the back black switch. No POST, no front panel buttons working, no g4mx440 bios, no speaker beeps at all. The LED pattern I had (at powerup) was R-R-G-G : init. hard drive controller. Doesn't make sense to me.
I'm stumped. I'm using a Duron 1gHz and a Samsung DDR 128MB stick. (the CPU and AGP card's fans also come on with the power.) X( Help would be great.

Aopen Aeolus geforce4 + K7T Turbo2: PC won't boot!

I have a problem getting an Aopen Aeolus GeForce4 Ti4200 (128MB) videocard to work with my MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard (MSI-6330, BIOS v3.5).
The computer refuses to boot with the videocard installed! No POST beeps, no signal to the monitor, nothing. The videocard works in another computer and is brand new. The motherboard D-LED's flash a few times and stop at LEDs 2 and 4 being red -- "processor initialization". When the old AGP videocard is installed (old Asus RivaTNT) everything works fine again, I have no other issues with the MB.
At first MSI BIOS version 3.4 was installed. So tried updating that. I installed a new Enermax 300W power supply. Tried to boot without any cards or drives attached but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas??

Not long, just the bootup. The owner of the PC didn't want to mess up his current config... We figured if it boots it must be OK. So only text, not even Windows... He has an Athlon 1800+ and I have a Duron 1200MHz
Researching a bit on the internet I find it strange board and card manufacturers do not seem to give more info regarding PSU's, minimun watts etc.

K7T Turbo2 cold boot problem

To all:
I recently replaced my old MB and CPU (Asus a7v133/AMD 850 Mhz T-bird) with a K7T Turbo2/AMD XP 1800+ Thoroughbred. All of the other components are the same (see below), except the PSU. I replaced my old one hoping that it would solve my problem.
When I cold boot the system the fans turn on but the system does not post and the monitor remains off. If I hit the reset button on the case the system boots normally. Also about 20% of the time the system emits a constant beeping (sounds like an alarm clock) when I cold start, which goes away when I hit the reset button. I have also noticed that the system trys to boot when I flip the power switch on the PSU. I don't know if this is normal with MSI boards, but my Asus would not boot until I hit the power button on the case.
Any ideas?

Thank you for all of your suggestions. When I got home today I tried to boot up the system with only the 512MB RAM stick (Crucial Part #:CT64M64S4D) inserted in DIMM slot 1. The computer responded as described in the first post of this thread. I then tried the 256MB stick (Crucial Part #:CT32M64S8D75) in DIMM slot #1 and the system booted normally. I then subsequently added the other sticks of RAM in the remaining slots (512MB in slot 2 and the 128MB in slot 3). I think the 128MB stick is hitachi but not 100% sure...it might be Diahatsu (my short term memory isn't too good). I guess the 512MB stick did not seat well in DIMM slot 1.
However, my system still wants to boot up independently of the button on the case. The system will power up once I flip the PSU switch to the on position. I don't know if this is normal for MSI boards, but my Asus system would not boot until I pressed the case button. I must admit I am still unclear of the JFP1 wiring. However, I have tried the power switch and reset switch wiring in all combos and this did not solve the issue. Is there a BIOS setting or jumper somewhere that I am missing? Any more info would be useful.

Please read the entire thread before posting a response. As I stated earlier, I DO NOT have a D-Bracket...yet, and I HAVE tried a different PSU. Thanks for your suggestions though. Luckily it was not as an exteme of case as it could have been.
I guess both of us have learned a valuble lesson from this experience. When in doubt, reseat the RAM.

K7t Turbo2..Do I have a bad one?

Am new to the forums and MSI, but have been building and repairing 'puters for a few. Have a new K7T Turbo2 MS 6330 bios v 3.4 My question is: Is this a bad MBO, or is it in need of a bios update or something?
THE PROBLEM: Incomplete POST, stalling with no detection of a primary master hard drive (master slave is not connected at this time). Statement at stall is hard drive failure.

DIAGNOSTICS: Tested the HD and IDE 80 pin connector in another system. They were OK. Tried an old Seagate 8 GB ATA33 with no alteration in MBO response. IDE cable is connected to the MBO blue connector with the blue primary IDE connector. The first or master connector at the other end is attached to the HD. Tried HDD jumpered as a master and cable select with no alteration in response. The secondary IDE devices (CDR and Zip100) do detect in the POST. Tried disconnecting the secondary devices from power and the MBO- no alteration in response at POST. I'M STUCK
Any thoughts or suggestions on this mess?

HI It seems like you have pretty much covered all the bases. One other suggestion, Did you try to reset ESCD in bios? You seem to know pretty much what you are talking about. I have had both my TURBO2s for about a year now and both perfornm excellent but I am using 3.2 and 3.0 bios Escd resets the bit string and reconfigs the rig. Its located right under the Pnp line in bios just enable save and exit and try to reboot If it works,you will get a success on the bottom of the 2nd or third boot page. My older build has a WD drive going bad and once in a while I get this same no detect. When it does happen I just shut down by P/s switch.and turn it back on. You might also want to try a new cable as it don't take much for a poor connection .I hope this helps and if it don't rma the board as I don't think you left much out could be a bios chip going bad or something about 3.4 as that was for support of a 160gb drive and may be causing you some grief. HP Pavilion Elite e9240f won't boot -- beep codes

When I try to boot my hp desktop I am getting beep codes. As best I can tell it's one long then 8 short.
I have not replaced or changed any hardware or software.
I have used compressed air to blow out all the fans I saw.
It's been an intermittent error that I thought was related to heat. I'd turn it off, let it sit for the night, and it would work in the morning.
The last time it worked, I was wondering about a virus so I ran an avast full system scan. It found one file in the 1 tb drive (sorry, don't remember name, just that it was a .tmp file) and it said to move it to chest I believe so I did that. It then suggested doing a boot scan so it restarted and has since given the same beep code errors.
I have unattached the cables for the cd and dvd drives, as well as the hard drive, and I still get the error. I've removed the video card and still get the error. I've held the power button down so that the led light inside the computer shuts down. I seem to get fans to run but nothing else.
I made a system repair disk from another Windows 7 Professional (which I think this one is) and that won't work (I can't seem to boot into that) because it doesn't seem to get to an HP screen to boot into the cd.

You could try reseating memory modules or removing one at a time and testing for a successful POST.
