  • K7T MS-6330 v3.0 won't boot!

    I have a MSI K7T Turbo (ms-6330 v3.0) and an Athlon 1800+ (Palomino)
Firstly I have never succeeded to boot the system with 1800+.
    The highest was 11,5 x 100 = 1150 Mhz.
3xx MB SDRAM. When I take off the J17 Jumper it boots with 1800+ but when I reboot it it hangs. So I have to put it on.
Secondly (but more important) As I tried to upgrade BIOS and some drivers via MSI live Monitor it happened. It won't boot anymore.
4 Red LEDs. When I move the IDE Cable, it will be 0100 and beeps very long.(No VGA Error!?)
As I read the Threads about MS6330 I found out that I have to clear CMOS. So I had to put JBAT1 to 1 and 2 . But what I don't understand id that the jumper is already in 1 and 2. When I put it in 2 and 3 the system won't even start. I sometimes get the error on the screen.
    CMOS Checksum Error.
No Floppy or sth. like that.
    Will you help me?
    Thx in advance...
    Sorry about my poor English!

The bios got screwed up  X(
However the bootblock is still alive and can save the board.
What you need is a fully tested floppy disk (after it's been given a full format and come up with zero bad blocks).
You then put a system on this floppy (MS DOS or whatever that is capable of getting you to a DOS command prompt).
Add the bios ROM file and bios flash utility for DOS.
These files are found in the manualy downloaded bios here
( Download bios 3.6, run the exe, copy AWFL822A.EXE and W6330VMS.360 to the floppy )
Insert the floppy into the floppy drive and boot from it.
When you get to the command prompt type
    AWFL822A W6330VMS.360
and proceed with flashing the bios.

  • Uninstalled Trial version of Elements 7 (Trial Version) Now Computer won't boot

    Hi All,
    Thanks for reading......
I installed Elements 7 Yesterday (Trial) to await my purchased version, so I could get the 'feel' of the program .......
Today my software arrived, read the booklet (Getting Started) which say's "it's a good idea to uninstall the trial version first", this I did and re-booted the computer but it will not start as normal, left with a blank screen with flashing cursor at the top left of the screen.....
    Win XP Pro SP3
    Any advice, help please

There have been many users here in the forum who have been successfully been able to uninstall PSE 7 trial from the Windows XP SP3 machine without running into such kind of error. I believe this problem is not related with PSE7.
May be you can do some troubleshooting with Ms

  • K7T Pro2-A (MS-6330) Won't boot

I have been using MSI mobo's for years but running into problems here and there.  Anyway, my current mobo, for no reason, stopped booting.  Right after the screen with all the info (CPU, IRQ's) it just hangs with HDD LED solid.  The LED's on the mobo are 0111, where 0 is RED and 1 is GREEN.  In the manual all it says is "Assign IRQs to PCI devices - Stop".  Huh?  I tried reseating everything, reverting the BIOS to fail-safe settings, nothing.  Even when when I F11 to select my boot device, it hangs the same, even when trying to boot the floppy.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I agree with Osnavi, as usual. While taking computer to pieces and minimize it, perhaps you also should consider clearing CMOS, before again inserting the power cable.
If it hangs at IRQ settings, it is possibly there the problem lies. I guess you can't update BIOS now, but if and when you can that might help a bit. It is seldom systems die without a reason, so I've been thinking about what might have changed the IRQs. Any suggestions?

  • K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330) Booting problems

Last night, I installed an Athlon XP 1700+ on my K7T Turbo2 mobo. I can not boot into Windows now. Windows XP will hang on loading up mup.sys, and 98 resets at an indeterminate time. I cannot install Windows 98 or XP either, as both hang on the setup (Before I can even access recovery mode for XP). I've swapped out all my PCI devices, disabled nearly everything in the BIOS, etc... nothing good. Heres what I've got.
    Athlon XP 1700+
    K7T Turbo2 Mobo
    ATI Radeon 9000 128mb
ATI Radeon 7200 32mb (Secondary Display)
    Creative Labs Soundblaster (Live!)
1280 Megs of PC133 RAM (PNY)
    Linksys 10/100 PCI Ethernet Card
    Maxtor 60GB HD 7200
    Maxtor 12GB HD 7200
    Seagate 10GB HD 5400
    Buslink 52x24x52 CDRW
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Do I need to set my FSB to 133 so I can use the 1700? I have updated my BIOS to the latest version. How would I increase the FSB?

    Welcome
Shutdown and remove jumper J17 (see manual - jumper near ram slots). If no boot, clear CMOS and try again. Be sure to use Fail Safe Defaults for install.
You've got a really heavy load, and hope your PSU is up to it. Do you have at least 200-220 combined watts on +3 and +5 circuits of PSU (see PSU label or maker's site).

  • Satellite C660 won't boot to disc or USB

My Toshiba Satellite C660-DSC0QE, running BIOS version 1.80, won't boot into Windows any more - it just goes to the dreaded black screen with white cursor.
I've tried a Win 7 system recovery disc, a USB stick with Kaspersky recovery software on it, and even a full Win 7 installation disc, and it won't boot to any of them.
The boot order is set correctly, the devices (optical drive or USB port) do get read, but they never actually boot into them - there's either an obscure error message or it acts like they weren't there at all.
The obvious answer from these forums seems to be to turn off secure boot mode and to then switch the boot mode from UEFI to CSM. Easier said than done - those menu options don't exist at all in my BIOS/CMOS screens.
Finally, I don't see a way in the instructions to get a BIOS update to happen without being in Windows on the PC already - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm I'm assuming BIOS version 2.00 would have these options.
    Any help gratefully accepted!

    Hi
I assume youve got an white, blinking cursor in the left upper corner.
    Is this correct?
Such symptoms appear in case the system cannot find a bootable device (HDD) or in case of memory (RAM module) problems.
First of all you said that you dont have UEFI / CSM boot mode in the BIOS settings.
So Im asking you what boot mode settings do appear in BIOS exactly?
Did you search for these settings in the right area?
Usually you should have in BIOS an area (tab) called security.
In most cases there you will find secure boot option but the Satellite C660 does not support such option because its too old.
But boot mode (UEFI /CSM) should be available in BIOS. Check the BIOS area System settings
Anyway, as I said above; it could be also an memory issue therefore I would recommend you to check if memory is OK.

  • Quad PPC won't boot--near wit's end

I have a fun little mystery on my hands. At work, we have a Quad-Core PPC (I don't remember which flavor it is, but it's about 2 years old or so now, I believe) which stopped booting up. Here's the skinny: I sat down to the computer (which is barely used anymore, btw, since our graphics guy left last summer) to launch iTunes, and it kept unexpectedly quitting. Launched After Effects 7, unexpectedly quit. So, I figured I'd restart.
After restart, I got the grey screen w/Apple logo & the spinning gear. After maybe 30 seconds, the fans kicked into high gear (though not quite as high as when you go into Single User Mode on this box). That's been the running symptom throughout my repair attempts. Here's what I did to try and recover:
DiskWarrior - wouldn't replace the directory the first two times due to overlapped files. After running FSCK 3 times, DiskWarrior (supposedly) replaced the directory. However, running a 4th time yielded .rsrc & .plist files which could not be repaired (most of which were DVD Studio Pro & After Effects 7 related, but there were three that were users prefs related). I went through the list and deleted the problematic files.
*Repaired permissions from the Install Disk (repaired a few things, then was ok)
*Disk Repair from Install Disk (came out ok)
    *Reset PRAM
    *Reset NV-RAM
*unplugged the computer for 5 minutes to let it sit w/o power
*Installed 10.4.10 (which is the OS it was running) combo update via Target Mode (after doing this, the Quad still came to the same grey screen, except the fans stopped kicking into high gear)
Used "Preferential Treatment" to look at preferences via Target Mode. Nothing found.
    *Re-seated RAM (4x1GB)
*unplugged everything from the Mac except keyboard/mouse & two monitors.
I don't have a usable copy of TechTool (the AppleCare version I have won't boot on this machine for some reason). Safe boot will not work last time I tried (grey screen with hyper fans). Single User Mode still works. Booting from the install disc still works. All RAM is from Apple. Video card is an NVIDIA Quadro (not sure which flavor nor how to tell). This Mac is set to come to the log in screen, so it does not automatically go into a user account upon booting.
Though I'm not completely knowledgeable, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the Startup Items folder (while in Target Mode), and if this box came with a Hardware Test Disc, I can't find it.
I've already cloned over the boot drive for safety (incidentally, if you ever have interest in cloning 383GB of data to a disk image, be prepared to wait 3 or 4 hours for that disk image to verify after you've asked it to mount). I went through similar problemswith this Quad last September, though I didn't go through all these steps last time. I ended up doing the Archive and Install, which worked. Didn't know that time either what had gone wrong.
At this point, I'm about ready to zero the drive and start all over, fresh--no restoring from the back up clone. Any recommendations before I go to that step? We do have AppleCare on it, but I really don't want to go there unless it is absolutely the last thing to do (I'd rather try wiping the drive and starting over than send the thing in for "repair"). Right now, I've asked it to boot since re-seating the RAM, so I'm just going to let it spin all night and see what I find in the morning.
Also, if I wanted to try clearing the cache, is it ok to go into the cache folder and just wipe it out completely or are there certain things that must remain? If you'd like me to try clearing the cache manually, please give me the file path so I know I'm going to the right place.

Hi! The directory is corrupt and the only way to resolve it it using Diskwarrior which has already failed or reinstalling. You can try an archive and install and if that fails you'll have to erase and install. DON'T use a clone because cloning an unstable system with problems rarely if ever yields one in better shape. Most likely DW wasn't used regularly and the directory corruption got worse and worse until the boot failure and hence DW inability to resolve the problem. Tom

  • K7T Turbo2 won't boot

ok, here goes  I have a MS-6330 K7T Turbo2 mobo, 256m RAM 20G Western Dig HDD NVidia GEForceMX420 64mg vid card AMD Duron 900Mhz proc.  I started and it won't post, fans spin but nothing else.  Cleared CMOS and it'll boot, but not RE-boot without clearing the CMOS again.  I've checked the mobo to make sure it not grounding out.  tried taking everything else off the mobo and it still won't post.  I've taken the battery out for 10 mins, and checked it..shows good on Multimeter. I tried flashing the Bios to v3.6..no change, wouldn't post so, now I'm back to the original v3.3 because if I want to USE my computer, I first have to clear the CMOS, load defaults and then it'll boot up fine.  if I've missed something PLEASE fill me in...this thing has got me COMPLETLEY stumped.  If it's the motherboard I'll just buy another one rather than go through the hassle of trying to prove it's still under warranty.  Help me out fellas!!  PLEASE!! ?(

wow....... this is a mirror image of what happened to me almost....  to put it blunty... sounds like mobo is dying...  or the cpu is dying.... but ....
did u just build this computer or did this just start up recently???  the mobo has some serious issue of POSTing when it's first installed and i have absolutely no idea why..
also...   check your hsf on your cpu and c if it's it mounted properly.  another thing.. r u changing anything in the bios???
    Ed.
P.S.  yes.. don't bother to rma. it'll take u about a month and a half to 2 months rma'ing..  i currently hate msi for how they handle my rma...

  • Aopen Aeolus geforce4 + K7T Turbo2: PC won't boot!

    Hi,
I have a problem getting an Aopen Aeolus GeForce4 Ti4200 (128MB) videocard to work with my MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard (MSI-6330, BIOS v3.5).
The computer refuses to boot with the videocard installed! No POST beeps, no signal to the monitor, nothing. The videocard works in another computer and is brand new. The motherboard D-LED's flash a few times and stop at LEDs 2 and 4 being red -- "processor initialization". When the old AGP videocard is installed (old Asus RivaTNT) everything works fine again, I have no other issues with the MB.
At first MSI BIOS version 3.4 was installed. So tried updating that. I installed a new Enermax 300W power supply. Tried to boot without any cards or drives attached but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas??
    thanks,
    Nico

These things really draw a lot of current, a (high quality) 350 watt ps would be the minimum i'd run with a geforce4.
Yes, I'll go back to the store to return my 300W and get a 450W Enermax. Pretty expensive though.

How long did you test it for in the other pc, and what else was different??
Not long, just the bootup. The owner of the PC didn't want to mess up his current config... We figured if it boots it must be OK. So only text, not even Windows... He has an Athlon 1800+ and I have a Duron 1200MHz
Researching a bit on the internet I find it strange board and card manufacturers do not seem to give more info regarding PSU's, minimun watts etc.
thanks, I'm going to try another PS

  • K7T Turbo2 - how do I tell BIOS to boot from USB?

I have an old K7T Turbo2 system, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.  I guess that's my first question - am I going to run into any nasty problems running W7 on this board, other than RAM limitations?  I have a version of "Tiny7" (which installs from CD-ROM) installed already and it seems fine, but I'd rather run a fuller non-pirated OS, and that means installing from a DVD/iso.  I don't have a DVD drive installed and it would be a bit of a pain to acquire one, so I'm hoping to boot from USB to winstall W7.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card installed in the system, which seems to work fine.  I've set the BIOS to boot from USB-FDD (but I've also tried USB-CDROM and USB-ZIP).  I have BIOS 3.6.  I've tried booting from the PCI USB2.0 hub (will that ever work or does the BIOS not recognize it?) and from the regular USB1 port on the mobo (but my USB flash drive is USB2).
Is there something else I need to do in the BIOS to get this to work?  Will it never work no matter what I do?
I read somewhere about a BIOS setting to "enable legacy USB support" but can't see anything like that in my BIOS settings.
    Any suggestions?  (thanks in advance)

If there is no option to boot from USB-HDD then it may never work.
Long shot I know, but what if you connect your USB drive, then power on your system, and press F11 when the logo/POST screen appears, does the drive show in the Boot Menu that appears?

Really? DVD drives are very common, and cheap as chips! You can pick up a brand new DVD writer, for the price of a (good) DVD movie.

  • K7T Turbo2 ver5.0 won\'t reboot

I just recently bought a K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330) motherboard and I'm having a problem with it rebooting.  I can't get the board to do a warm reboot.  It works fine if I turn off the power and then turn it back on but even changing the BIOS settings won't allow it to reboot.  I'm building this computer for someone and I will not give them a computer that won't reboot!!!  I've tried to contact MSI techinical support and they have never answered me (through E-mail).  I've read some other posts (in other forums) about problems with the EXACT same thing happening due to a chipset problem (KT133A)  If anyone has had this problem or knows a solution please respond.  here are my Spec:
    K7T Turbo2 ver5.0
    AMD Athlon 1200MHz (200MHz) CPU
AMD (Cooler Master) provided CPU Cooler
    Matrox G400 Graphics card
    2  x 64MB Crucial PC-133 Memory
P.S.  I've tried other (known good) memory and graphics cards and I still have the same problem.

Well after waiting two weeks to get my replacement back from MSI I got another bad board.  I haven't talked to their tech support about it yet but I think I'm going to get a different board from another manufacturer.  In addition I'm going to make to STOP suggesting anymore MSI motherboards and I will definitely not choose them for my upcoming System upgrade.  Just for reference.
The new board will not even POST.  Or turn on for that matter.  I checked all the jumpers.  Unplugged everything else from the board except video, memory and processor (all proven good by another system).
I'm sick of playing with this company and I have a computer to build for someone.  They just lost a formerly loyal customer.  I'm not spending my money to ship it back again.
    P.S.
I assume whoever sent back a KT333 motherboard and left the manual and D-Bracket in the box is going to be upset because they shipped my motherboard back in that box with the manual and the D-Bracket inside.  May as well let things bounce around in the box during shipping the BOARD WAS DEAD ANYWAY!!!!!!!
