  • Aopen Aeolus geforce4 + K7T Turbo2: PC won't boot!

    Hi,
I have a problem getting an Aopen Aeolus GeForce4 Ti4200 (128MB) videocard to work with my MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard (MSI-6330, BIOS v3.5).
The computer refuses to boot with the videocard installed! No POST beeps, no signal to the monitor, nothing. The videocard works in another computer and is brand new. The motherboard D-LED's flash a few times and stop at LEDs 2 and 4 being red -- "processor initialization". When the old AGP videocard is installed (old Asus RivaTNT) everything works fine again, I have no other issues with the MB.
At first MSI BIOS version 3.4 was installed. So tried updating that. I installed a new Enermax 300W power supply. Tried to boot without any cards or drives attached but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas??
    thanks,
    Nico

These things really draw a lot of current, a (high quality) 350 watt ps would be the minimum i'd run with a geforce4.
Yes, I'll go back to the store to return my 300W and get a 450W Enermax. Pretty expensive though.

How long did you test it for in the other pc, and what else was different??
Not long, just the bootup. The owner of the PC didn't want to mess up his current config... We figured if it boots it must be OK. So only text, not even Windows... He has an Athlon 1800+ and I have a Duron 1200MHz
Researching a bit on the internet I find it strange board and card manufacturers do not seem to give more info regarding PSU's, minimun watts etc.
thanks, I'm going to try another PS

  • Macbook won't boot up anymore after trying to reformat

So my White Macbook won't boot up anymore after trying to reformat. While trying to install a fresh copy of Snow Leopard, the Macbook just froze and I had to reset. Now, while trying to boot it up, it hangs at a white screen with a folder with a question mark.
My install disk is still in there, so when I try to boot up while holding C, nothing happens. It either goes to the folder with a question mark or the screen stays white. So after that I tried holding option to go to the drives nothing happens. I just see a white screen and a cursor.
I tried resetting PRAM and tried booting in safe mode and everything but to no avail. Everything results in just a white screen or just a folder with a question mark.
Can I do anything before I have to bring it to the Apple Store? The optical drive should work because before I reformatted it, I could see that the disk was in the drive because the icon was in the upper right.

it hangs at a white screen with a folder with a question mark
Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk.
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac

  • Windows 7 worked fine and now won't boot/start anymore?

My little brother just bought a used 24" iMac (early 2008) at the beginning of this year.
He installed a Boot Camp and Windows 7 for gaming.
Everything worked fine and he played with iMac earlier today, but now he phoned me that Windows won't start anymore. He gets a black screen with blinking line after booting to Windows partition. He said that the black screen used to flash everytime windows started, but now he's stuck to that black screen. He tried to repair windows with the installation DVD, but there was only options to restore system from backup image file or drive, which (of course) my brother hadn't made.
Is there any way to fix this problem or does he have to install Windows again?

Get a book. Spend more time researching. Make sure not to install x-ware or anything that isn't needed and compatible. You should invest in backups, and use restore check points.
Try getting chkdsk to also look for bad sectors.
And uninstall whatever was last installed. And one plus for Windows, you can rollback a driver too.
Could happen if they ran too low on free disk space. Windows 7 SP1 is due out, and that will need 9GB of free space to install and update (you get some back but good idea to have the extra space).
Clean out all the temp files that can clog a drive, I use CCleaner daily and sometimes there is 500MB to dump.
A good backup/clone and Boot Camp support program:

  • My iPhone won't boot up anymore, help?

Hi, I'm Lee! My iPhone will not boot up, and I don't know what did it. My friend said his iPod won't come on because he charged it on a friend's XBOX overnight, and so did I. I really don't know if the XBOX did it, but it's possible. The other day I turned it off to save power, and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't completely boot up. The Apple logo shows up for about a minute and then the loading symbol comes up and just keeps going and it won't ever get to the lock screen. I've tried to restore it. It won't show up in iTunes so I heard about putting the device in Recovery Mode to make it recognizable. It made it show up, but every time I tried to restore it gave me error codes like 21, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, and 1604. My iPhone was on 5.0.1 and at the Restore page in iTunes that only had options to Update and Restore. Update was grayed out, and there should be an update to 5.1. Then today when I tried restoring it the message at the top was stuck on "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple..." iTunes isn't frozen on "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple," it just won't say anything else. I've tried everything and nothing works. I've even tried holding the Power and Home buttons forever, and still, nothing works. Please help!!
    Message was edited by: ulyssesfromalabaster

I've read all the error codes already. I've downloaded 5.1 again and tried to restore and it's stuck on "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple" again. After about 10 minutes, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone anymore and the tab with my iPhone goes away but it still says "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple" at the top. I'm going to try reinstall iTunes. This should fix things.

  • I have an old iMac that won't boot up anymore.  I have the OS X install disks but I can't get it to boot from these disks.  No need to save anything.  Any suggestions?

I have an old iMac.  Not sure of the operating system but the install disks say OS X.  The computer will not boot anymore and all I keep getting is to restart and when I do I keep getting the same message.  I do have the install disks but I can't get the computer to install, or for that matter, read the disks.  I would like to rebuild the computer from these disks so that I can continue to use this computer.  There is no need to save anything on the computer as I backed it up months ago.  Any suggestions as to how I can save this computer and not have to recycle it?

Really need to know what version of OS X it is currently running, and what version you are trying to install.

  • MacBook pro won't boot correct anymore...

    Hi,
I put my MacBook Pro to sleep yesterday evening, did nothing special, just closed the lid and it started breathing. Today I wanted to wake it. Putted my usb mouse in the left port, it woke up, lid was still closed. Opened the lid, no image on the screen, no reaction to keys or mouse. Waited a short time, then turned it off and back on. Still no reaction, it starts running, I hear the harddisk, but no screen, the front led is always on and it seems as if it reacts to the light sensors of the keyboard. No chime at boot up, no grey screen nothing. No target disk mode, I'm not able to boot into Apple Hardware Test. In fact, after I inserted my OS X DVD I'm unable to get it back out because it doesn't react to keyboard input anymore. The drive starts spinning the DVD and after some second it stops. Resetted NV Ram, nothing, no chime. Took the battery out and resetted/drained it with the power button, nothing.
Any ideas what happened or some people whose MacBook Pro went to sleep an never came back, too? It's one week old, I think my heart is broken :'(
    Greetings,
    Arne
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2Ghz, 1GB Ram, 100GB HD w. 7200rpm

I got exactly the same symptoms after 1 month and a half of daily use and after a few failed startups.
I must say that on day 1, when I first started my freshly unpacked MBP, I got a kernel panic that made me weary. I thought it was Apple's memory and since I had 2 fresh 1Gb modules from another seller, I decided to go home and stick them inside instead. But strangely, after 5 minutes of walk to my home, the MBP started up at the first try ! I put my 2x1Gb of ram nonetheless.
But last week, during my holidays, I got a KP while unpausing a DVD. Then each restart went worse than the last. I got the three beeps, grey screens, black screens, sometimes boot chime, sometimes not until I finally managed to eject the DVD and stick the install disk. I launched hardware diagnostic : after 3 freezes, I was able to run the lenghtier test wich found nothing.
Then my MBP was able to boot a few times in a row but had repetitive Kernel panics when I tried to use it for more than a few minutes. But I had been able to launch (and achieve) a backup of my files before launching a new extended HW diagnostic. That one found this time something about memory.
I then decided to reinstall Mac OS X from scratch but it failed 2 times because of Kernel panics. And after 2 or 3 startups stuck at the wheel stage, my MBP achived the same state as yours : black screen, HD working, DVD spinning, activity light on (no blinking) but nothing else.
I tried all : reset NVRAM, reset PMU, C pressed, D pressed, option pressed, single-user mode, safe mode, verbose mode, after/before removing the battery, reinstalling the RAM and checking it twice etc. But nothing : I can't even get the OS X install disk to eject… (tried F12, spacebar or eject pressed during startup but to no avail…)
I will try with Apple original memory but I am a little suprised that the memory I used instead went fine for 7-8 weeks of daily use and would suddenly fail…

  • System won't boot up anymore

Yesterday i installed the new zalman cooler on my cpu, it was cooling it much better when idle, but under load even with this cooler i am getting very high temperatures which usually end up in system shutdowns.
Today i decided maybe the new bios 1.9 would help, so i flashed over my old 1.0, rebooted and nothing happens anymore. Black screen and that's it. The bracket blames the memory, but i am pretty sure it's not fried since i never overclocked it nor did i tighten the timings. It just decided to go on strike this afternoon. I tried everything i could think of, from takin out ram modules and movin them into different slots to takin out the new cooler and putting the old one back in. Nothing worked can anybody help out?
One thing i noticed: wen there is no memory in, the cpu temp. remains as if idle. If i do put a memory stick in the CPU temp. grows skyhigh as if it were extremely stressed (all this under black screen).  - Maybe this might mean some thing to you...

    1. Check video card is properly seated. carefully check CPU is properly seated and No bent pins or grease on pins.
    2. Remove all the RAM except 1 stick.
    3. Clear CMOS(check manual)
    4. Make sure all power cables are connected(BOTH of the cables from PSU).
    5. Try Boot
    6. If it works, 1st thing to do is raise DDR voltage to 2.7v before trying to put RAM back in.
If it still doesn't work, try the Bios Recovery Method

  • My MacBook won't boot anymore. What can I do?

    Hi,
yesterday I upgraded to Mountain Lion. After the installation, my MacBook booted and everything seemed fine. I started using Mountain Lion. Then I shut my MacBook down and I won't boot up anymore today. What can I do?

What did you do to fix it?

  • My mac won't boot up..  I've tried PRAM resets and fsck.

My mac won't boot up anymore. This problem started quite randomly, as I had just used my mac an hour a go. At first, it just wouldn't finish loading up, but now it loads up for a bit, then suddenly shuts down. I've tried resetting my PRAM and using fsck but nothings worked. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Yes I have seen a similar problem quite recently, and ended up having to perform a software reinstallation as not even Disk Warrior could see the Hard Disk.
Before you go to that extreme insert your System Disk 1, reboot holding down the "C" key and go through the first two steps until the "Utilities" menu appears on the top left of your screen.
Select Disk Utility and (assuming your hard disk appears) click on it and select the "First Aid" tab > Repair Disk.

so my PC had a blue blinking light on it when I came back one afternoon and won't boot up anymore. I took the cover off unplugged the power cord and pressed the power button. the fan above the CPU moved briefly but did not spin. any suggestions?
its a custom build MSI .

That MB has CMOS battery that is like the one on most laptops, probably is the reason you didn't notice it.
PSU is TFX form factor. Seasonic just happens to have good variety of them and would be very good brand to use.
     What country are you in?
For the prices of them this one appears to be best one for your needs pricewise. Examples are from newegg US but should be available at many other stores.

  • K7T Turbo2 won't boot

ok, here goes  I have a MS-6330 K7T Turbo2 mobo, 256m RAM 20G Western Dig HDD NVidia GEForceMX420 64mg vid card AMD Duron 900Mhz proc.  I started and it won't post, fans spin but nothing else.  Cleared CMOS and it'll boot, but not RE-boot without clearing the CMOS again.  I've checked the mobo to make sure it not grounding out.  tried taking everything else off the mobo and it still won't post.  I've taken the battery out for 10 mins, and checked it..shows good on Multimeter. I tried flashing the Bios to v3.6..no change, wouldn't post so, now I'm back to the original v3.3 because if I want to USE my computer, I first have to clear the CMOS, load defaults and then it'll boot up fine.  if I've missed something PLEASE fill me in...this thing has got me COMPLETLEY stumped.  If it's the motherboard I'll just buy another one rather than go through the hassle of trying to prove it's still under warranty.  Help me out fellas!!  PLEASE!! ?(

wow....... this is a mirror image of what happened to me almost....  to put it blunty... sounds like mobo is dying...  or the cpu is dying.... but ....
did u just build this computer or did this just start up recently???  the mobo has some serious issue of POSTing when it's first installed and i have absolutely no idea why..
also...   check your hsf on your cpu and c if it's it mounted properly.  another thing.. r u changing anything in the bios???
    Ed.
P.S.  yes.. don't bother to rma. it'll take u about a month and a half to 2 months rma'ing..  i currently hate msi for how they handle my rma...

  • K7T Turbo2 ver5.0 won\'t reboot

I just recently bought a K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330) motherboard and I'm having a problem with it rebooting.  I can't get the board to do a warm reboot.  It works fine if I turn off the power and then turn it back on but even changing the BIOS settings won't allow it to reboot.  I'm building this computer for someone and I will not give them a computer that won't reboot!!!  I've tried to contact MSI techinical support and they have never answered me (through E-mail).  I've read some other posts (in other forums) about problems with the EXACT same thing happening due to a chipset problem (KT133A)  If anyone has had this problem or knows a solution please respond.  here are my Spec:
    K7T Turbo2 ver5.0
    AMD Athlon 1200MHz (200MHz) CPU
AMD (Cooler Master) provided CPU Cooler
    Matrox G400 Graphics card
    2  x 64MB Crucial PC-133 Memory
P.S.  I've tried other (known good) memory and graphics cards and I still have the same problem.

Well after waiting two weeks to get my replacement back from MSI I got another bad board.  I haven't talked to their tech support about it yet but I think I'm going to get a different board from another manufacturer.  In addition I'm going to make to STOP suggesting anymore MSI motherboards and I will definitely not choose them for my upcoming System upgrade.  Just for reference.
The new board will not even POST.  Or turn on for that matter.  I checked all the jumpers.  Unplugged everything else from the board except video, memory and processor (all proven good by another system).
I'm sick of playing with this company and I have a computer to build for someone.  They just lost a formerly loyal customer.  I'm not spending my money to ship it back again.
    P.S.
I assume whoever sent back a KT333 motherboard and left the manual and D-Bracket in the box is going to be upset because they shipped my motherboard back in that box with the manual and the D-Bracket inside.  May as well let things bounce around in the box during shipping the BOARD WAS DEAD ANYWAY!!!!!!!

  • K7T MS-6330 v3.0 won't boot!

    I have a MSI K7T Turbo (ms-6330 v3.0) and an Athlon 1800+ (Palomino)
Firstly I have never succeeded to boot the system with 1800+.
    The highest was 11,5 x 100 = 1150 Mhz.
3xx MB SDRAM. When I take off the J17 Jumper it boots with 1800+ but when I reboot it it hangs. So I have to put it on.
Secondly (but more important) As I tried to upgrade BIOS and some drivers via MSI live Monitor it happened. It won't boot anymore.
4 Red LEDs. When I move the IDE Cable, it will be 0100 and beeps very long.(No VGA Error!?)
As I read the Threads about MS6330 I found out that I have to clear CMOS. So I had to put JBAT1 to 1 and 2 . But what I don't understand id that the jumper is already in 1 and 2. When I put it in 2 and 3 the system won't even start. I sometimes get the error on the screen.
    CMOS Checksum Error.
No Floppy or sth. like that.
    Will you help me?
    Thx in advance...
    Sorry about my poor English!

The bios got screwed up  X(
However the bootblock is still alive and can save the board.
What you need is a fully tested floppy disk (after it's been given a full format and come up with zero bad blocks).
You then put a system on this floppy (MS DOS or whatever that is capable of getting you to a DOS command prompt).
Add the bios ROM file and bios flash utility for DOS.
These files are found in the manualy downloaded bios here
( Download bios 3.6, run the exe, copy AWFL822A.EXE and W6330VMS.360 to the floppy )
Insert the floppy into the floppy drive and boot from it.
When you get to the command prompt type
    AWFL822A W6330VMS.360
and proceed with flashing the bios.

  • Mac mini won't boot anymore

My Mac mini won't boot anymore. It's been running fine for months.
    It's running Leopard Server 10.5.2 Build 9C31
It starts to boot, I get the first spinning gear with the gray screen, then the blue desktop blinks, then a second spinning gear on a gray screen and it appears to hang (the gear stops spinning).
I booted off the install DVD, ran disk utility, repaired the HD, repaired the permissions: the behavior is the same.
Safe mode doesn't work (same hang as above).
    Single user mode does work.
I can connect to it via Server Admin while it appears hung.
